Yeah and he’s slaughtering everyone. 😂 Also that’s another piece of bad writing because by episode one on, no Jedi are following that rule at all. If you are going to introduce new things they have to line up with what we have seen/not seen from then on.

Anakin has Dooku at his mercy and has to be pushed to kill him because Jedi don’t kill someone who’s unarmed, even a literal SITH LORD.
And then when Mace is about to kill Palpatine Anakin tries to get Mace to stop by reminding him Jedi don’t kill.
Heck, Palpatine tries to goad Luke into trying to kill him to complete his turn to the Dark Side. Because a true Jedi never attacks an unarmed opponent.
All they’re doing here is applying the same in universe rules that have always existed

Obi-wan had no qualms striking down Maul or Grievious. Obi-wan had beaten Grievious after one shot, but he made sure that Grievious was dead. Obi-wan was even pushing Luke to unalive Vader.
Ezra wasnt beaten at all, and he was much stronger than every other Jedi.
@@tqlla Dooku still had a connection to the force. Even with no physical hands he could’ve still attacked Anakin, yet Anakin still hesitated.
Obi wan killed Maul during a duel when Maul was still armed and actively trying to kill him. He killed grievous because grievous was about to kill him.
Neither were at his mercy.
And yes, Obi-Wan pushed Luke to kill Vader because he wrongly thought Vader was irredeemable after facing him on the Death Star. But he was wrong. If Luke hadn’t spared an unarmed Vader like a true Jedi should he would’ve gone over to the dark side.
And Luke didn’t just spare Vader because he was his dad. If you watch him, he looks at Vader’s twisted cybernetics, then his own cybernetic hand, and realises he’s going down the same path. He’s literally becoming more like Vader. And so he rejects that path and literally throws away his weapon, declaring himself a Jedi.
They did manage to kill a bunch of a shite characters off, which is a bonus

Cortosis armor, from legends, disrupts lightsaber blades but it's somewhat brittle.
Thats what i was going to say. I highly doubt they went to the comics though so im waiting for some bullshit answer disney will give us when there is source material for an answer that they probably wouldnt reference lol

They went far enough to introduce a legends metal and failed to introduce almost every character to a place anyone gives a shit, all in 20 odd minute episodes, I have more attachment to contestants on a day time quiz show than these characters

@@JaredK511 I have seen all the OT films individually somewhere between 200-500 times in my lifetime. The term "embrace the Dark Side" is NEVER mentioned. Give in to the Dark Side, yes, & use it, yes. The actual word embrace does not exist in either the OT or the Prequels as far as turning to the Dark Side goes. But you are totally missing the point I was making. The temptation of the Dark Side is not a small thing, but this show just casually talks about it. And knowing it's 100% woke focus in every aspect the words "I have embraced the Dark Side. Why haven't you?" gets a very different meaning than what the words themselves first insinuates. It's symbolism about someone recognizing your true identity, & in woke society that is all about skin color & sexuality & not who you are inside as a person & the actual decisions that you make that matters = as in turning to the Dark Side for example. And the added question in that dialogue is a sort of criticism, as in why haven't you done what I have done = I have come out of the closet & I know you should too so why don't you.
Maybe you are right. Maybe I am just reaching & reading far too much into this. But in this ultra woke show where forced diversity & wokeness is all & plot & character means nothing, how else should I interpret that dialogue? It is a statement about being gay, or something, hidden behind being on the Dark Side.
And I am STILL NOT watching the show & I never will for as long as I live, as I already explained in a previous message. One thing on the lightsabers malfunctioning in legends there was this Lightwave resistant material called cortosis which could disable out a saber when struck. I'm guessing that's what his armor is made from
Cortosis would cause the lightsaber to shut off temporarily it would only be for a second but that can be enough in certain fights.

I heard Smilo-Rens arguments to become a Sith was that he wanter a Pride-Parade where he could express his true feelings and his true self and the Jedi wouldnt have none of it. 😆

General Grevious had a much better reve in the Attack of the Clones mini series. His forces smash through the clobe troopers, he corners a handful of jedi, gives a great speech about how doomed they are, then does a slow walk to the jedi building tension until one finally cracks and rushes out only to be killed. He then shows not only how physically strong he is but he can use two if not three lightsabers at a time. Grevious's body is more machine but enhances his abilities to the point that most jedi can't stand up to him, but as he lands the final blow Yodi feels the disturbance Grevious causes to know something is coming. That is great writing and all of it is done the span of a 8 minute short.
So once again, Disney steals something interesting from the EU and makes it lame.

The way this episode played out, you can really tell that the storytelling got mangled from all the rewrites in editing and reshoots.
There’s one part where Mei and Osha are facing down with each other and it just randomly cuts to an establishing shot of the sunrise, and when it cuts back to them they’re in completely different places.
At first I was like, “wait… why did they do that?” And then it hit me, this is a product of a reshoot.
The most interesting thing about this show was that fan theory that the evil twin only exists in the good one’s mind. I refuse to learn their names, but that would’ve been impressive of Weinstein’s acolyte if she’d thought of that.

Go back and watch the lack of acting, the lack of emoting… fifteen years, and this is their first interaction, and they speak to each other as if they are reading the words off of their phone. Show us SOME kind of emotion… show us that you are feeling SOMETHING. 🤦🏻♂️

Same, it's incredibly unfair because he is actually a better actor than Ezra ever was. He is also one of the best actors in this show, right alongside Sol. He deserves better.

The lightsabers short out because the Sith guy’s helmet is made of cortosis, which does that. And that’s a DEEP cut into obscure SW references. I don’t know why the showrunners did something like that without explaining to the audience.

This is more than lore breaking. This is the creation of a new and different lore - purposely.
Some have said that "The Acolyte" is reminiscent of "She-Hulk"; in which the show runner and writers admitted to trying to upset long time fans of Marvel.
This is truly Star Wars for people who don't like Star Wars - or sensical storytelling.

Dave Feloni knows the general lore and he oversees this crap. Lesbian Headlamp is a subordinate. He's the guy in actual charge of Star Wars. He dropped the ball with this show.

It's made out of Cortosis, a metal from the Old Canon EU that shortcircuits lightsabers.
It was re-canonized in Thrawn: Alliances.

Yeah I actually liked it. Enjoyed that. In an otherwise total shit show I actually enjoyed the fight overall. Still have complaints but easily the best episode so far. At least they brought back lethal lightsabers 😂

In lore, it's a very difficult and brittle material to work with, but it has been integrated into armour etc.
That's legends, this is canon.
My experience of cortosis comes from the games where it does no such thing.
Unless it gets a mention in the remaining episodes it's another failure of the writing.
"says in American hick mechanic voice" well then there's always being a bit of a fault with the old high Republic tz-45 Jedi lightsabers. They were built cheaply in the outer rims to reduce cost. So when they are actually used for real combat. They tend to short out on you. I know it's a major design flaw but that was supposed to be no Sith round. So who were the jedi supposed to take seriously. They were more just used for show to intimidate idiots, lighting up dark hallways and huge bug zappers. We didn't think they'd actually be using them for real.
The malfunction comes from the contact with the alloy the sitth armor is made of it called cortosis. When it comes in to contact with a Lightsaber it shorts them out briefly. It was the only canonically correct part of the episode.
And people actually thought the writers were smart enough not to make Asian Ezra Miller the villain.
If the writers are female, I'd say no one actually thought they would be able to do something imaginitive, if there's one thing that is predictable with Kathleen Kennedys hires, is extreme lack of imagination.

Maybe the armor was made of Cortosis. In the good EU only pure cortosis could shut down a saber, but it was also very brittle & kinda impractical.

It should have not been that easy to allow so many murders to happen. THEY DIED for a nothing girl, OHSHA. Mae wasn't even stopped by her sister until THE VERY END, and Ohsha, being WEAK, couldn't...even....do.....that..... wows.
So OSHA [named after a Safety organization ], is weak, apathetic [ according to her face acting throughout show ] and afraid to get in there and fight or at least thriow rocks at the Dark Lord to distract him....!

The lowkey genius of a reveal that stupid is that anyone who understands storytelling would assume Asian Ezra was a red herring.
The lightsabers shut down when they hit the “master’s” armor (forearm gauntlets and helmet).
This is from the Star Wars Expanded Universe (which Disney said none of which is any longer canon).
In the SWEU novels and comics there was a metal called Cortosis. Pure C cannot be cut or pierced by a lightsaber blade.
Additionally, when a lightsaber blade makes contact with pure C then the lightsaber will instantly deactivate and be inoperable for a few minutes.
In the SWEU pure C was very rare and super expensive because of its obvious use against any lightsaber wielding opponent.
Alternatively, cortosis alloy was cheaper and more obtainable (but still very rare) than pure C since it was mixed with other metals. It was still quite valuable though because even though it would not deactivate a lightsaber upon contact with a blade…it was still impenetrable by a lightsaber blade.
Pure C and C alloy were very sought after during the clone wars for obvious reasons.
My guess is that Disney is stealing this idea from the SWEU (like many plot lines and ideas they’ve pilfered) but will change the details just enough to be able to legally avoid copyright infringement on the original intellectual property.
The Disney explanation of the metal the master uses which stops and deactivates lightsabers will likely be explained in subsequent episodes of the acolyte. That’s my assumption anyway.

You're missing a few things...
1)Jedi knights get killed easily and yet he struggled against Jecki, a padawan

3)Osha stops Sol from killing Qimir for what again?
His armor made the lightsabers malfunction. It stopped working after one of them strikes his head.
Easy fix for the show. Set it over 1,000 years ago, have it be a true murder mystery where someone is killing jedi but they can't tell who. Let one of the twins be more driven by her emotions so she's the most likely suspect. The twins become more in sync and solve who the killer is, big reveal one of the jedi is actually a sith. The twins battle this sith and win and before the sith dies there is a monologue about this being a last ditch effort an attempt to bring the order down from within. The jedi leave thinking that sith is the last but then we get like a time-lapse through the millennia from this siths apprentice hiding in the shadows all the way down to a younger Palpatine reading a journal or holocron on these events and let the audience infer he learns from this mistake of trying to infiltrate the order and hatches his own plan on how to bring the order down from within roll credits. Might not fix the terrible writing but at least the plot would make a bit more sense.
My goodness hearing you explain this plot and this story just sounds like a rough draft written by a 10th grader. I dropped off after episode two. I just couldn’t get over that wookiee. Just a wild show. With no passion in it.
Someone makes poison and it is established the poison killed someone and they are not arrested and confined? Bad writing is killing Star Wars.
Qimir is wearing cortosis armor which has been around for years and it's a brittle metal but when struck by a lightsaber disrupts the energy and shorts out a lightsaber briefly.
Qimir cutting off Mae's handcuff seemingly to spare her life only to immediately change his mind and going for a killing blow 3 seconds later is peak nu-Star Wars writing.
These people just prove that the Dunning Kruger effect is contagious 😂.
If you indulge me to compare a similar setup in terms of a power balance versus a foe, take this show vs Predator.
Predator works because we spend a decent amount of time learning who the main characters are. They have moments, they listen to each other, they interact exactly as their characters have been set out, so we get to like all of them.
The Predator is shown as powerful by its means of disposing of the others one by one, eventually resorting to hand to hand combat. It’s a slow build of an outnumbered enemy being smart and thinning out the opposition one by one. That is scary, that creates the inertia that Dutch’s crew can’t match the Predator. They panic, they do human things, they get angry.
We now have tension, a feeling that the heroes are against the odds because this thing is unstoppable.
The Acolyte does NONE of this and so I don’t give a shit when all the Jedi die. They are all boring characters. I can’t even tell you their names. When Ezra gets revealed it means absolutely nothing. They signposted it really badly so it’s not even a mystery and confusing.
A huge lightsaber fight does not make a good tv show. It’s just fan service.
Let's not waste time. Vernestra Rwoh is the key to it all. She killed The Wookie with her light whip and she is Darth Plumber's master (you know, the guy with the cheap Kylo Ren knock off helmet, with some shower hose glued to the front of it).
So, it's like horror movie, in the sense that a bunch of unlikeable characters are put on screen, just for the villain to kill them off. Not that I like horror, very much, or I root for these awful people, but one complaint I have, for those films and this show, is that when the characters are killed, there's no emotion, there. None of the Jedi are presented a likeable, noble, competent, even, and Jecki, they made that stupid comment about her possibly being into a Queer (with a capital Q) angle, so most observers won't she'd a tear for her, either.
When your least bad episode involves many of the characters being killed off, you know you've missed the mark. I, typically, am not a fan of wiping main characters, but in the case of these cosplay Jedi, I wouldn't mind if Temu Ezra Miller won, in the end.
The Lightsabre Malfunctions were caused by The Armour The Sith Apprentice Wears, as it is Bescar Armour and while Brittle to Physical Attacks, Bescar Armour causes Energy Weapons to Deflect and can Cause Light Sabres to Short Out.

The Helm and armguard the sith guy has is made out of Cortosis which can temporarilly disable lightsabers and apparently the shock gun too.
The only way i could see this not being lorebreaking is if either the sith guy kills all witnesses, or he gets killed and they cover up that a sith appeared.
As for the fights: Maybe the jedi became complacent over the years and had no real battle experience idk

It works if this turns out to be Darth Venamis and Master Sol doesn’t tell anyone the word Sith was mentioned… as long as Sol keeps this quiet.. which he may due to his own dark secrets.. then it just about works. Yes, in legends Venamis is a Bith but… we can turn a blind eye.
They’re on thin ice. Chances are they’ll break it all next episode.
The Darth Venamis angle is cool. It works; he levitates, has Neuranium armour from Darth Tenebrous which blocks and disables light sabers, he’s a secret apprentice looking for his own secret apprentices.. it matches up and would be pretty cool. If at some point we see Plagueis defeating him at the end of the series.. again.. that probably won’t happen.
I was amazed that even with this being an action heavy episode it still managed to be the most incoherent.
All the fights either started or ended in the dumbest ways possible.
Mundi is in league with the Sith, just like Darth Jar Jar, an Quimir. The foolish Jedi were incapable of anticipating the betrayl. Darth Vader wouldn't exist if it were not for Darth Jar Jar.

This is arguably the best episode from The Acolyte and I still didn’t feel completely satisfied from it. I think I’m DONE watching the rest of it. I gave it 5 episodes too many when I should’ve kept it at zero. We’re now left with another mystery regarding Sol and what really happened in Brendok? What’s Sol hiding?
The reveal will be bashed because we all saw it coming from a smilo away. It actually makes Mae look more of a dumbass that she didn’t know who her master was all this time and treated him like a fool when she was the fool. I’m fine if Qimir happened to be Smilo Ren but I thought it would’ve been better off if he was only a red herring and it was a character we hadn’t seen yet. Make it a complete surprise.
So the convenience having similar hairstyle after 16 years is for Mae to do an Arryk Cargyll did in House of the Dragon? Do a Parent Trap? All Mae had to do was cut the longer part from the back of her hair and she will look exactly like Osha. Why doesn’t Sol not sense that’s Mae? Does Qimir know that’s Osha? Why not kill her since she already knows his identity? Why would Osha turn to the Sith when she’s been pro-Jedi since she was a child?
Wasn’t Mae the one who fell in Brendok? Who told her Osha was dead? Who has been sheltering Mae all these years? She couldn’t find out after 16 years that Osha trained to be a Jedi since that’s what she wanted the last time they saw each other? The writers turned Mae into the biggest dumbass in this story. She wasn’t aware of her master who stood right next to her all this time. It’s like Vader not checking in on his home planet. That maybe he should try to attempt to find the man who decapitated him. But yeah, he hates sand.
Props to Jecki. She handled the fights better than Yord did, a Jedi Master. 🤦🏻 Yord was frickin’ WEAK! You see one scene with his lightsaber against Smilo Ren/Darth Venom’s and then it took only 2 seconds for unmasked Qimir to twist his neck to death. Yord sucks! Only Qimir, Sol and Jecki showed any real skills in these fights. The lightsabers that kept going out was a bit annoying and I didn’t like how the trees were obscuring the early fight scenes.
Too bad Jecki had to die in it. She was becoming a more interesting character than the Aniseya twins and Rey. Better moves than Shin Hati from last year and I was loving Shin Hati. Better moves than Rey in any of the Sequel Trilogy movies. Props to Daphne Keen. The slipping out of a second lightsaber from her was pretty cool only for Jecki to die that way.
The real MVP is Qimir as he was able to kill 7 of the 8 Jedis. We know 5 of them were redshirts but I didn’t expect Yord and Jecki to die in it this soon. But then the ridiculous scene when Osha put Pip on Qimir’s back to attract those giant moths. He probably would’ve killed Mae and Sol had Osha didn’t do that. But for story purposes, Mae and Sol needs to wear their plot armor.
I still felt dissatisfied from this episode. I don’t think I will continue it any further. Maybe I will watch the final three episodes like half a year later on a random day. I can already predict how this unfolds. Osha will kill Qimir at the end. Maybe we will get some fan service that Qimir was serving under Tenebrous but I don’t find this story and this mystery very interesting. It’s just a BAD show and Amandla can go ahead and call me a racist and sexist for it. Make another music video for us, you narcissist.

My favorite from 2020 being a big Michael Jordan fan with The Mandalorian Season 2 a close 2nd.
For 2021: Spider-Man: No Way Home
Lived up to it’s hype and remains my favorite Spider-Man movie ever made. Yeah, it can be overrated and the story is pretty awful. But it was MCU’s last very good movie/event. I don’t think Deadpool & Wolverine will surpass No Way Home for me because I don’t care about the people that Deadpool cares about. No Way Home gave us the ultimate fan service of Tobey, Andrew, and Tom together at last!
For 2022: The Batman
Became one of my top 5 favs of 2022 behind Elvis, Top Gun: Maverick, House of the Dragon S1, and Andor S1. I didn’t initially like Andor but it’s become my favorite thing that Disney has ever done for Star Wars. Andor had no lightsabers and it still surpassed Revenge of the Sith which has an idiotic story on how Anakin turned so fast. Anakin spent 13 years with the Jedis and then decides to kill his Jedi brothers and sisters because he wants to save Padmé. That’s stupid.
For 2023: Loki Season 2
Became my favorite for all of 2023 while Air was my favorite movie. Loki only had 12 episodes but it was consistently good. I think Loki’s worst episodes are better than any episode from The Acolyte. Oppenheimer is in my top 5 but it wasn’t exactly my favorite and neither was MI7: Dead Reckoning Part I.
For 2024: House of the Dragon S2
After two episodes, is currently living up to the hype. Should surpass Season 1 easily since there’s more action in it. More war. I still can’t believe Episode 2 made the two most hated characters for book readers and made them likable! Aegon and Otto’s scenes were the chef’s kiss. 😘 Give Tom and Rhys their Emmy noms. My most anticipated was never Deadpool 3. I think that movie can reach my top 5 but I’m not as psyched about it as others. Just more of Ryan Reynolds’ shtick that gets tiresome.
For 2025: Andor S2
I believe it’s going to live up to my expectations like Loki S2 did and what HOT D is currently doing. I believe Andor S2 easily surpasses that Rey movie and The Mandalorian and Grogu movie. I’m more interested in the Dawn of the Jedi than I am for a Rey or Mando movie. After Mando Season 3, I don’t seem to care much about The Mandalorian. The finale of The Book of Boba Fett and Mando S3 ruined The Mandalorian for me. We all know Grogu was created to sell toys.

After Rogue One, everything after is pretty mid or awful. I may need to rewatch Solo again. Some folks seems to love it. I only saw it once and while I didn’t hate it, I don’t remember much from it. Han Solo remains one of my favorite SW characters but I wasn’t feeling that movie because Harrison Ford wasn’t portraying him.
The Acolyte is without a doubt the worst Star Wars project I have ever seen. Shame too because I was very intrigued by it when I read the synopsis for it about 4-5 years ago. I’ve tried playing both sides trying to defend it and then objectively criticize it. Weak story, weak dialogue, and weak acting. It’s going absolutely nowhere. I’m done. Y’all can finish the rest.
I will be more focused in House of the Dragon S2 and The Boys S4. Much better shows than The Crapolyte. Love to Sol but the rest can all die and I wouldn’t care. I expect the ending is Osha kills Qimir and she, Mae, and Sol live happily ever after. Such a predictable and pointless story.
Smilo Ren >> Kylo Ren
Manny Jacinto still can’t save this shit show. Although Smilo Ren is cooler than Kylo Ren as he did kill 7 Jedis by himself while Kylo lost to an untrained girl, I still wouldn’t buy an action figure of Smilo. The story should’ve focused on Qimir and how he became a Sith. Not on Tia and Tamera from Sister, Sister.
As far as I know, only Beskar steel can repel a light saber attack. But since when does this material disrupt how a saber works? Is this a thing and they've just never ever showed it? I watched all of the Mandolorian and I've never seen that.
The lightsaber malfunctioning seems a callback to cortosis. It gets used in the GOOD old Legacy comics when some Jedi survivors ambush Vader (shutting down his saber) and also by the Imperial Knights during the Fel era. It's a rare metal. Very rare. The Imperial Knights only had it in their gauntlets i believe. It MIGHT be a deep cut referring to that. But given that as usual they don't explain anything it's probably more stupidity on Disney's end.
My suspicion as to why the lightsabers malfunctioned, is due to coming into contact with Qimir's helmet, which may be some degree made of cortosis.

The lightsabers were malfunctioning because of the material his helmet and wrist guards are made of, it’s canon in the comics, (I forget what the material is called), almost like an emp once the lightsabers comes into contact with either of the two
Apparently Qimir's helmet and gauntlets are made of a metal that can short circuit a lightsaber...... Pretty damn lore changing since this is before TPM but Disney seems hell bent to "ruin our mythos in a minute, baby."
The lightsaber malfunctioning stuff is ripped directly from the EU. In the EU there is a mineral that you can make armor out of that shorts out the lightsaber blade. It never blocked force powers though.

Being that KK’s intentions are obvious in that she’s sabotaging Lucas’s legacy and taking credit for the property, anything is possible at this point. So, I predict Darth Plagueis or even Tenebrous is one of the space witch moms and Ezra is the apprentice.

The light sabers malfunctioning is because of the armour the sith is wearing. It’s called cortosis and has the ability to resist a saber blade but can also short it out. It features heavily in legends, the bane novels mention it’s a lot

The armor/helmet he wears is cortosis lined. The ore has a unique quality that causes an electrostatic feedback into the power source of the lightsaber, shutting it off for a few seconds.

Leslie Headland Thinks The Rule Of Two Works by having s Master Train an Apprentice until The Apprentice finds and Trains an Acolyte and then The Apprentice and The Acolyte Team Up and Kill The Sith Master. And Yes I Know This is not how it is supposed to Work.
To be honest, I was surprised by the twist...
though I guess I should've expected it when Episode 3 they finally revealed Palpatine was the Sith Lord.
I do get surprised by these reveals in many movies because I want to give every character openness whether they're just who they act to be, because that's pretty much everyone but 1 character in plot twists. I think many people are doing disservice by saying stuff like "Yeah, we all know who Sauron was in Rings of Power", well I didn't, and I'm sure many people it came as total surprise.
Of course people who're already deep into the lore and have read many comic books might expect these reveals to happen, you can't be sad when movie just tries it's best to make that big reveal somewhat rational, aka, not surprising.
I think it's just dumb point in general, which in already negative angry critic environment it's not very healthy to try to poison the discourse with even more toxicity than is warranted. Truth should be enough.
The lightsabers cutting out im pretty sure is from the metal material hes using on his arm and helmet. Its canon apparently from what i heard
