Mellow Boy It kind of is... It’s the most modern sounding catchy song I’ve heard in a long while. This and Dum Surfer pretty much sums up the last few years for me. I love King Krule.

little late to the party but this music video is actually a masterpiece. The man is being electrocuted, and the video is the timeline of how it takes place. It seems simple enough. A man is entranced by a woman on top of the electrical poles, and the man caught in desires, blindly climbs up to her. Only for her to cut the wire, electrocuting him, and leave him seizing alone. However, the sexual allegories at play here are immaculate. Paired with the meaning of the of the lyrics, and the phallic imagery on top of the telephone pole, as well as the sexual innuendo from the lady. Even the background color change to a hot color, signify the power of lust the man feels. So powerful he is blind to the warning signs. I think this truly abstracts and delivers a unique experience. That feeling of losing touch of reality, living the moments of infatuation over again in your head. Leaving one in a pathetic, uncontrollable state.

I think King Krule's progression as an artist has been something great. On 6 feet beneath the moon you basically get pure angst. A character angry at the world, angry at themselves. By the time you get to Man Alive I can really see a level of acceptance and maturity you don't get early in his career. There are even moments of optimism. Archy is brilliant. Every record seems to show new ways he's grown as an individual trying to navigate the world.

@@sol12498 If it's good and it reaches an audience who get something meaningful out of it then that is successful, in a broader sense. Especially if you can make enough money to not have to spend time on day jobs.
In a more narrow sense, if you create something and you're really proud of how it is then yeah that is a form of success too. It feels great. But being able to actually effect others in some way is also hugely important to me in most aspects of my life.

the way ive interpreted this song, is that it could be told about a man, a possibly shizophrenic man, talking to hallucinations he sees in his tv, and one of them, happens to be the memory of a person he wasnt there for the death of, someone he loved dearly, and as he starts taking care of himself, possibly taking anti-psychotics, he feels like he is directly attacking the memory of the person he loved as it is personified as a hallucination that he is now getting rid of, hence the "now shes lying in my head"

Listening to this brings back memories of when I first started listening to King Krule; I'm out of high school but I found out about him my freshamn year and I remember feeling so refreshed to have found his music - his music helped me make light out of the dark.
The aesthetics for this song is amazing. Love the driving beat ! So cool! And that bass intro that comes back in the end.... so nice wow! So good ! Incredible animation too! So happy to be alive and listen to this :)
