If it weren't for negative consequences then evolution would not work. We humans are priveleged to have a conscious process be a component of negative reinforcement of our thought process actions. This means that we aren't selected by outside pressures in how we choose to act. We are capable of selecting entirely on our own.
It's part of what makes us true individuals. Or as close to individuality and independence as we, a collection of matter that is trapped in the chain of universal cause and effect, can get.

I agree spaghetti betty, I was staying in a hotel and woke up at 6am to see this song at random on my list. I can relate to the girl, none of us are perfect and sometimes we seek acceptance from others or hide when we should just say screw it and dance.

5 years ago, I was scrolling through recommendations while laying in bed with my new love. We fell in love with this song and listened to it a lot over the years. I remember it blaring on the radio through all those sunsets and late night drives down winding backroads. He passed away 4 weeks ago today, leaving behind our two kids. This is the first time I've been able to listen to this song and it hits me hard in my grief. I'm still halfway to nowhere, indeed 💔

    Take aways:
    1. Self acceptance is a daily struggle, but something to continually strive to pursue.
    2. Without a doubt, it's a jungle out there.
    3. Music, apart from being a time machine, can be a warm embrace. It can act as an aid to help us really feel what we need to feel in any given moment. It allows us to feel less alone through the lyrics or instrumentals that communicate to our souls in just the right way that we need in that moment.
This music video was a great piece of art and very profound in meaning (well, from what I interpreted from it). The song itself is also superb - "I'm still halfway to nowhere, I'm still nothing today" - a shared experience for so many.
    Thank you Chelou.

“The meaning behind the song is really... just the frustration of life: things you have, things you want, hope for the future, but also the failure to act upon it” - Chelou

  • @ionamartin4214

What i got from the video is that is trying to represent our times self- doubt and loathing. The girl turns into a devil when she looks at her reflection in the mirror, thus reinforcing the idea that she is not happy with her true self. The rest of the video represents her struggles with her identity, and running away indicates that she is trying to escape her negative thoughts. When she approaches the green creature, who envitably rejects her as she is different, the action of putting the green mask on was to try and disguise her true self, to be accepted by societies generalised norms and values. Climbing the tree is a symbol of her trying to climb to this "goal" which in unattainable, as she is not being true to herself. However when she enticed by the spirit singing in the clouds, she then takes an alternative path in which she is then infactuated with the spirit. The dancing and the removal of the devils skin implies that she finally feels comfortable and that all her self doubt in the moment of time has disappeared. Her waking up back in her bed suggests that she is back in touch with reality, and that it now up to her to decide whether to use her spirtual enlightenmight throughout the rest of her life, or to go back to the tiresome self doubt.

Amazing how this video captures how I feel when I first wake up getting ready for school and the new day. Room is a mess. I feel like crap, insecure and unmotivated. But my shadows and other people that are like me give me a reason to keep going… Mindlessly, I checked my phone looking towards the future, towards validation, towards a virtual reality … might as well instead of staying in sorrow.
Halfway to nowhere gives me freedom in this simply seldom acceptance… It all matters and it all doesn’t. It’s just up to us.

I first listened to this song back in November 2021 while being mentally stuck for hours not working on my part for a group presentation, and it helped me take a breather while visualizing something that really helped calm be down. I finally un-stuck myself and was able to work again! I still use the same visualization to this day whenever I feel too paralyzed to work. I much appreciate this song and the beautiful animation paired with it. Sappy as it is to say, it really changed my life.

as a teenager we most find ourselves in immense depression because of our looks but my grandpa told me a very special thing to me to this day that cured it all "look, when you get older which is inevitable, you will not care about your looks because your old, you will look back into your teenage days and remember when you still cared about stuff like that, and when you are scared about dyeing inevitably, remember that it will come out of no where and you will not even notice it happening, like most people you will die in your sleep and know nothing at all. you wont feel anything and will not think anything, you will be eternally at peace knowing that nothing happened, live your life how you like it and don't take everything so seriously, just have fun and laugh at your mistakes."

I'm reeeealy happy that this chapter is all over me, but still… this song remainds me of some special kind of purity, that was in these times inside me. in times when my closest friends were in the woods and I was able to spend eternity there all alone. just me, enormous tall trees, wild water and animals that walked around and didn't notice me 'cause I was part of them. oh… lovely lovely, lovely memories! :'))

curtis moncoq no it can't, verlan is just the fact of changing syllables for poetry, street poetry. the meaning stays the same. louche is the cooking instrument stuff but its also used to say weird as an expression, nothing to do with verlan :)

      @curtismills 8 років тому +58

Dude you're tryna learn verlan to a french guy...
Verlan is used very often by young people (and I am).
It doesn't necessarily change the meaning but if you say chelou to a french person to mean the cooking instrument nobody is gonna understand
because chelou is basically almost a new word on his own that means weird but the real word is bizarre
However if you say "il est louche" to a french person he will understand "he's suspicious"

Heck, sometimes, you might be a bad person, and that's okay too. We're humans, we're flawed. Mistakes will happen.
