Mick Gordon is no stranger to space (he’s already been to Mars), but the eerie, quiet halls of Prey’s Talos I are a far cry from the gore-soaked Hell found in DOOM. So when given the task of crafting a score for a more psychological thriller, the award-winning Australian-based musician took it in a completely different direction, building a diverse soundtrack that combines ambient arpeggiated guitars and heart thumping synth beats. The result lends itself perfectly to the tense, menacing journey to uncovering the mysteries surrounding Talos I and facing off against the alien threat that has taken over the station.
Prey will be available on May 5, 2017, on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

If you pay attention to Morgan's foot during the helicopter ride you can notice that they move their feet in tune to the beat. Probably my favorite detail in the game so far.

I too ignored this one in 2017, assuming it was associated with 2006's Prey. But having just completed it - holy hell - what a fantastic game.

@@mattmark94 I love the ending. Usually a games ending is a conclusion to the story, but Prey's ending opened my mind up with so many more questions and a new understanding of the story that you can explore with multiple playthroughs.
It's arkane's best game for me, without a doubt. Maybe if their next game flops they might reconsider making a Prey 2? I think the problem must have been advertisement; people just weren't convinced to buy the game. The people who did play it love it as anyone can see by it's very high ratings.

It was rumored the original name for this game was gonna be something like Neuro-Shock.
Goodbye Prey, one of my favourite games of all time. Multiple playthroughs, 100% twice on Xbox and PC, multiple video essays and reviews, sharing and showing the game.

My friend Darren and I used to play this in my car on our 12 hour drives to pick me ex-girlfriend up from South Dakota. He passed away October of 2017, and she is gone now too. This song makes me feel like I still have it all again, even for just a few minutes. Rest in peace, Darren.

Just the existence of this song alone is enough to tell you how much of a creative genius Mick Gordon is when compared to his more known works like Doom
Just the overall feel of this music really set the mood. They say that the first five minutes into a game sets the bar of quality for the rest of it and I dare say, this is a success. Very atmospheric.

When you're out on the roof and the song is hanging on the first few bars before you hop in, details abound, there's a plane leaving a trail in the sky, all the signage.
I knew I had spent money wisely within 15 minutes of starting the game.

@@SoilentGr33n I was really lucky to get a copy for free. Went in expecting exactly nothing (for better or worse) and was more than happily surprised. The whole experience was an immense, wild ride that just kept on giving all the way until the end.

I hope Harvey and the remaining Prey veterans join Arkane Lyon. I know Harvey did not work with Prey but just like its team he believed in it, it was his personal game of the year. If there's people in Bethesda that still believe in this franchise, then there's still the tiny sliver of hope it can return someday.
Just remember, the death of Lionhead was not the death of Fable, no matter how long it took for its return.

If memory serves, the whole simulation thing was their own idea. So this could have been their favorite song and they specificaly chose to have it played every day

I slept on this game for so damn long. I watched a playthrough for about a couple hours back when it released, didn't get around to playing it until a couple weeks ago. And now it sits right up there in my top 5 favorite games I've EVER played.

I dont know if anyone is going to read this but. I know it's just a song from a video game, but to me it means more. The amount of energy that the song is bringing has helped me through dark time, especially being in the military. Now that I am slowly exiting out the military life I am leaving behind. I listen to this song as it gives me hope for my future.

@@Jman2113 Same for me, and I'm 37. New wave and typical 80's music leaves me rather cold.
They use 80's sound in a completely different way than they were used in the 80's. The BPMs are generally much slower, the kicks are smokier, the chord progressions are stoney, etc etc.
Sure, it SOUNDS like 80's music, but at the same time couldn't me more different.

I really liked the way the game did the intro. Nice sunny futuristic San Francisco, head to my office to do some cool shit. The Typhon escape, I get gassed and wake up to the same day but fucky. I break out of the simulation and everything feels *off*. I get into the foyer, see blue sky through the window, and think "Still in the building, this is weird, but I like it." I get out into the lobby, January asks if I'm ready to see the truth. I walk down that little hallway to that giant window and see not the SanFran skyline, basking in the sun, but the stars, and the moon so close I could touch it. That's when I knew what kinda game I was in for.

Still coming and looks better than ever. System Shock 3 apparently back on the rails as well. Not a lot of games gave me the same level of feels. Prey is one. The first two Dead Space games as well. Structure of dead space completely different, but feelings of isolation and catastrophic horror, yes.

Every year my Discord hosts a game awards... Every year I nominate Prey and they tell me its against the rules. Every time I then argue well.. it is the best game of 2017.. and also the best game of the years after. This game will always have its flowers from me. Tragically underrated and underplayed. As soon as I heard this track stepping into the helicopter I loved it, I could have happily spent more time overflying the city listening to this.
As fake as the helicopter ride turned out to be, it's still an awesome and creative opening credits scene.

I only just purchased this game and played all the way through it earlier this week. I remember watching a few reviews that seemed to not find it that great back in the day, and never gave it a chance. But my gawd, this is one of the best games I have ever played. If you like sci-fi, horror, and games were you run around and loot a bunch of stuff, you have to give this game a chance. Underrated game, that I believe had it launched on the current systems, I have no doubt it'd be a major GOTY contender. Also, Kudos to Microsoft for FPS boosting this on Series consoles. Runs like a dream.

I love this. It sets up the game perfectly. It sets up the future as a great thing, devoid of all crisis, and everything. But, after breaking out of the simulation, you realize the future isnt so great.
No Prey 2... No new Deus Ex... No Dishonored 3.... Videogames are dead...
