This commandment was emphasized in the New Testament by Jesus :D Matthew 22 :36-39 36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. How to get Joy as a Christian : J - put Jesus first 0 - put Others second Y - put Yourself on last
The almighty God is not Jesus; Jesus is the son of the almighty God and his name is Jehovah, from the Hebrew יְהֹוָה (YHWH) Exodus 6:3 and Psalms 83:18 (I recommend you research on an Interlinear bible). About Jesus being the son of God John 1:49; Colossians 1:15; John 6:38
Leandro De Lima You're taking the verses out of context. There are plenty of passages where Jesus clearly claims to be God. Thomas said to Him: " My Lord and my God", if He was not God He would have never accepted the worship of Thomas. The Pharisees wanted to kill Jesus because they said " you being a man are making yourself to be God" . Read the whole counsel of God. And read it from the KJV not some perverted version.
Care to give the meaning of Zech. 14:3-4 then? In those verses we see that YHWH's feet will stand on the Mount of Olives. The NT makes it clear that it is referring to Jesus (Acts 1:11-12 where Jesus ascends from the Mount of Olives also tells us He will descend there). Also, it is YHWH who swears by Himself that every knee will bow to Him, Paul refers this to Jesus in Rom. 14:11 and Phi. 2:10.
Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength sums up the first 5 commandments. Love your neighbor as yourself sums up the last five.
In that case, NONE of them would be necessary, right @@robert123ro? How is it that NOT stealing and NOT killing, and NOT having jealousy for your neighbor's wife and all that other stuff, is JUST opinions?? Are you saying that if it were not for the fear (YOU have) of God, then you would act like an animal toward other humans? If that is the case, then you just a psychopath on a leash. There is intrinsic HUMAN value to some of the other commandments. (Yes, SOME! The other "commandments" are written in the various law books throughout the United States . some of which we could do without, but I digress)
@@johnarmenta2199 Yes, without the first five - without God as a supreme moral authority - murder, stealing, coveting etc are just things (chemical reactions in the brain, for example) that happen. It is neither right, nor wrong. Considering it wrong and disgraceful is just a subjective feeling you got used to, because of education, hereditary traits etc. But for an Atheist it cannot be objectively justified. In Atheism there is absolutely no difference if you are a robber, a murderer, a rapist, a psychopath or a saint. You came to existence by an accident, without a purpose, you live a meaningless life and then you die and nobody will judge you for what you did in life. What's the problem (for an Atheist) if the stronger and the fittest kill the weak, takes his possessions (to increase his chances to survive) and rapes his wife to spread his genes? Humans are born with some empathy, genetically transmitted due to millenniums of education. We got used to it and we take it for granted. But what about those who don't have the same moral feelings as you? Or don't want to obey such rules? There's a lot of them. What can you tell them? "Stop doing that, because... I don't like it"? It takes a crisis to see how solid the intrinsic moral values are. Let's disband the police for some time, to see what happens. Or give enough power to some people, to see how their moral values rapidly change.
As a Christian, following Christ is the objective, not people. Our history (meaning Christianity) may not have been the most moralistically plausible, but that was based on man's interpretations and personal, socially, and politically infused and influenced decisions. If we had followed Christ the way Christ had intended, we would not be constantly arguing with people on the basis and existence of Christ because our behaviours and thoughts would be a reflection of who GOD is. Everyone has an argument about the existence of GOD and the validity of the BIBLE and many of their arguments have some merit because there is some truth to what is said. And truthfully I will say that Christians have a bad habit of diving into secular behaviours which helps to fuel people's negative view of Christianity. Christ's love and HIS grace is what saves, not the law. My truth is that my GOD exists and how do I know? because I tried HIM. Believe what you want too and yes, everyone has their opinions on this topic, but as for me, GOD is my truth.
+Scott Johnson ...or, the reason people failed in history because Christ really has no power. We are not sinners, we are human. End of story. How can you talk about reflecting a God that is no one even agrees on what he looks like or wants done? Have you ever entertain the thought that you are deluded? How would you test if you were?
Steven Wall Ever since Adam and Eve ate the Forbidden Fruit we all have been born with sin already within us and nobody is immune to this. We humans can only guess what God looks like as nobody has actually seen Him. God has been depicted as an elderly gentleman with white hair and a beard primarily because that's what we humans imagine someone with wisdom would look like. What God wants is for us to worship Him and obey His Commandments. Doing so will ultimately guide us to a better life of kindness and love for all. Deluded? Devout Christians would dispute that claim as it is based on the biased opinions of atheists and other non-believers of The Truth. Only Satan and those people that are slaves of Satan can test our faith. If the Christian's faith is strong, the test will fail miserably. Typically the ones that test us will lash out with vulgarity and other vile comments about our faith. Test me if you wish but I know that my faith is strong. I honestly believe God is real and I love Him. I also love my Savior the Christ Jesus. Also, I do not fear death as I know that Jesus is waiting for me when I die with open arms.
Just because you say we were created in a garden, doesn't make it true. There is far more evidence to suggest that we are just humans. Animals with a variety of traits, mostly good, some bad. I'd like you to answer the question that I asked. How could you test if your premise is right?
Steven Wall I did not say that "we" was created in a garden. "we are just humans. Animals with a variety of traits, mostly good, some bad" I agree. "How could you test if your premise is right?" I think that the real question you should ask yourself is "How could I test if his premise is wrong?" As an atheist you should try to prove me wrong.
Once again comments are hilarious, just because a video doesn't reflect your views doesn't mean you have to freak out people. Not everyone believes what you believe and both I and most likely Prager believes everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Its sad to see you don't believe that as well. Until that happens, no structural debate can occur.
The point of a debate is to prove which side is right or wrong. Just because a person has an opinion doesn't mean it has to be respected. Are you telling me we should respect fascist opinions? Or extremist ideologies? No right? Why? Because it's not fair or righteous. The only opinions that should receive respect are those that are intelligent, factual, fair, and righteous
It's difficult to respect people who believe in mythical beings and heavily exaggerated stories not unlike a game of chinese whispers. You don't take a child seriously when he says there are monsters under his bed do you?

I genuinely hope that your souls are saved and you both have a profound experience that will change your lives forever. Salticus..... I have wondered that myself, I have questioned that myself. Genocide and slavery and other horrible things are still happening even now. That is the result of God giving us free will. It is natural for us mere human beings to treat and say horrible things to one another and won’t think twice about doing it. What do we gain be hurting others? Guys getting disappointed with videos about God... because it's unreasonable? It is IMO unreasonable to have an imaginary friend, but to believe in a designer, without any proof of the opposite, is not unreasonable. To believe or not in the existence of a designer called God is a judgement call, so I don't see why atheism is pushed almost to a religious level where people get offended when they hear anything related to theism/deism.
+richsocaplaya I got on this channel for the videos on feminism too. I rarely agree with anybody on every single topic about the world. If there is some room for judgement call on topics, expect to make different judgement calls sometimes.
Michael Smith Not God as an imaginary being, not a man living in the sky watching our every move. The idea is of an intelligent entity at the origin of the existence of all. That's in fact quite plausible. That qualifies as theism/deism, and therefore a belief in what I'd call a God, or creator, or some other name that characterizes the essence of that original intelligent entity. I would completely agree with you, believing in a man living in the sky, when even from ground we don't see him, is ridiculous. That's the very evolved perspective of God we have today, what you talk to me is an interpretation of God thousands of years ago, a religiousness propagated by common people. I know it sucks to turn in circles: why can't everything stem from randomness? why do they [apologists] keep creating new ideas to justify an original creator? But the point is that it's a plausible theory, on the same level as complete randomness of events. I see myself as a theist/deist, those are plausible perspectives for me on the same level as any other. I say that as someone who studied in astronomy (took 2 classes in uni, among which one was led by a Christian teacher) and who is very passionate about science. To me, science and theology are not opposite ways of inferring about the worlds [i.e. as if one is being based in deductive reasoning and the other in confirmation bias loops]. I read books like the selfish gene, and highly enjoy a secular society, that's how it should be. Yes, we can't take someone seriously if they believe in an imaginary friend, or a unicorn, or what have you. But it also sucks to have people attack the same straw man arguments about God, where apparently Christians are all (and I know some are) a bunch of fanatics. To me, the very plausible idea of an entity greater and more intelligent than us, that created all knowing we would be here, greater than any Man, any highly intelligent and controlling dictator, is a reassuring fact, since I feel like a plan in a story [dead or alive], like at least a dot on a premeditated painting. I guess that's the essence of comfort in religion too. If not everything is random, neither am I, it makes the world more interesting, and actually more fair (in my eyes). Lastly, to me, to be angry at people believing in God, for some folks is more about the hatred of the idea that some entity out there is so great, and will be greater than us or our children's children ... forever; making of some anti-theists more theistic than they may think they are. thx for the read.

That's a good question, (try not to listen to any rage comments they make everyone else look bad) my thinking is that God's word is moral (do not murder is the easiest example) but if he tells people to do something it is for a justified purpose moral or for the best for everyone. Take a look at an action of God you find questionable and try to consider if it served a greater purpose, converse with someone who studies the bible about it if you want. I promise that every action God takes is justified sometimes it's hard to see because it's specific to the cultural practises at the time or it isn't 100% clear but it's there, again it's best to discuss with a knowledgeable authority (if you are inclined to find the answer question you asked). Remember don't listen to the trolls.

Solid lecture. Idolworship is one of our big Problems. Everything can become an Idol when we put it before God and His will. One Thing remains to be said: Not all human beings are His (God's) Children, many are of their Father the devil, John 8:44, only those who choose to be. THEN ALONG CAME JESUS WITH HIS GRACE, MERCY, FORGIVENESS, LOVE & TRUTH--OUR SALVATION: "For the law was given by Moses, but grace & truth came by Jesus Christ." ( John.1:17 ) He came & showed us that salvation & true righteousness was not by works, but by grace!--That "the Lord is also Lord of the Sabbath, & that it was made for man, not man for the Sabbath." ( Mk.2:27,28 ). Praise God!
The first video I saw from this channel was about politics and it was interesting enough I thought the channel was purely academic and would have been good to check out once in a while. But the more videos I saw the more I realized it's just a Judeo-Christian organization. They are doing the same thing that the pastor or priest at churches and pick and choose interpretations from the bible. In this video he says that god hates slavery because he liberated the people from bondage when in fact, for those who have read the bible, he only liberated the "chosen" people from bondage. He is not against slavery. In fact he has rules on how to take care of slaves in Deutoronomy which states that as long as the slave is Jewish, the slavery term cannot be harsh but everything else is okay when it comes to foreigner slaves This is a complete joke.
I really like this channel but I usually don't enjoy stuff like this. It seems to me organized religion is like a tool. It could be good or bad depending on who is wielding it. I like the golden rule and helping those who need help but I don't really trust people who devote their time trying to convince others they are right about their beliefs or the religion they choose. I think God wants us to Love each other no matter our differences. I don't really know anything just my 2 cents.
If we are gods children, why would he not forgive his children for not believing he existed? Why would He punish them horrifically FOREVER ? If any of our children abandon us, we would never torture them. Therefore we are more ethical than God. And his source of ethics are inferior.
They justified their actions on the basis that black people (in their opinion) aren't really people but more or less beasts of burden, so in their eyes no Commandment was violated.
"God hates slavery." Well, that made me laugh. Mr. Prager, I'd ask if you had ever read the Bible, but I am pretty sure you have. Considering how often God commands his chosen people to own slaves, and also chooses to place his chosen people under enslavement, I hardly think that the god portrayed in the Bible really hated slavery that much.

Just a few talking points: 1) God was power enough to create the universe but lacked the foresight to prevent slavery in the first place. 2) Prager declares proudly that God said he took us out of Egypt and out of bondage. This is a ridiculous statement since slavery still exists and is quite prolific. More than 1% of the populations of India, Pakistan, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo are enslaved. This equates to well over 2 million people living terrible lives every day. This doesn't even include North Korea! 3) Prager cements the legitimacy of the commandments by saying we are obligated to God for saving us from slavery. The obligation idea is absurd because if any of this were true, why did God put us in the shitty situation to begin with? It's like setting someone's house on fire, putting it out and then telling them they owe you for saving their home, which you set ablaze. Ridiculous logic. Also, since there is still prolific human suffering and slavery, then this isn’t really a transaction anymore, is it? 4) At least 4 of the commandments are egotistical and immature (no other gods, no idols or false gods, don't misuse the lord's name, remember the Sabbath day). This sounds like a teenager. 5) Honor your parents? God didn't consider that maybe some parents are awful human beings? 6) Don't commit adultery? Really? You've created the universe but you're concerned about what talking primates are doing with their genitals? Also, promiscuity is common in the animal kingdom. Why would it not exist within human civilizations? Why did you make animals perverted but not humans? No sense... again. 7) Don't murder, don't steal, and don’t lie (false witness against thy neighbor) are things we don't want to happen to ourselves so why would we justify doing it to others? Glad these came up but still ridiculous to imply it came from an all knowing, all powerful creator and to imply that we couldn’t figure this out. 8) Don't covet your neighbors stuff? Really?! This is a crime of thought. It's impossible to police someone's thoughts. Not to mention, seems very immoral to dictate someone else's thoughts.

Not exactly a good defense of your "God made rules to help humans" thing, is it? Then it's... "Well, the Bible says you should only enslave someone for seven years! Well, if they're Hebrew, if not, keep them as slaves for as long as you want." I mean, come on, your source doesn't try argue with slavery, it tries to justify it. We have an explanation for all of this. You just lack the research even a simple study would give you. We know how religion evolved from tribalistic shamanism. We know how the earlier peoples the Hebrews came from worshipped EL, the creator God and their national god, and how it changed over time to resemble your God. We know how belief in God rises and falls. Its a tool for trying to understand the confusing, but once we move past it to science and reason, it becomes simply a hindrance to understanding. Logic and reason will tell you slavery is wrong. Not try explain why it was sort of OK, for some time periods, if we cherry-pick our source.
@@maxmaccarthy1546 "The fact that almost half of the commandments are dedicated to upholding the worship of the God, repeated multiple times to just extensively get across that this God is infinitely more important than helping your fellow man makes things clear." Or because God is the SOURCE of morality worshiping and loving Him will intrinsically mean keeping his commandments which will in turn mean treating others well: 1 John 5:3 "Loving God means keeping his commandments, and his commandments are not burdensome." Matthew 22:36-40 Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the LAW and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” 1 john 4:20-21 "If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother." Matthew 25:40 ""The King will reply, 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.'" And I could go on. The bible is full of people who claim to worship God, but treat their fellow man poorly (ex. the phariseas) and God's answer to such people is ALWAYS: they do not love Him and their worship is an abomination to Him. If you love God you will obey his commandments and obeying His commandments means loving your fellow man as yourself. If you don't believe me I can give you examples in modern times of people who came to love and Worship God FIRST and as a result came to love their fellow man more than themselves. ua-cam.com/video/FjqccYmx13w/v-deo.html
Regarding your slavery comment: God was never okay with slavery (I'm going to assume you actually read the link I gave you). Slavery was even more common then than it was 300 years ago. God could have given them strict commandments that would have been impossible to follow (they were barely able to follow the commandements they already had) or He could planted the seeds that would eventually choke slavery out of the Judea Christian world. (If you don't believe it was Christians, not athiests, who pulled the plug on slavery look up Martin Luther and the history of the republicans and democrats in the civil war.)
@@maxmaccarthy1546 And finally regarding your comment on anthropogeny: You could point me thousands of different research papers, articles, etc. and say that because I don't know this or that my knowledge is incomplete and therefore I'm wrong (just because you have a lot of information doesn't mean that information is true) I could try and dissprove each theory you throw at me which would take hours and likely accomplish nothing (again I've had a lot of these conversations and there will ALWAYS be more information). But these five things remain constant: 1. The fundamental building blocks of every athiestic theory in science and history (theories that can only be true if God did not create the universe) have been proven not only to be false, but outright lies: ua-cam.com/video/YPneKiH0eJY/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/VASfDNJi2b4/v-deo.html 2. The athiest religion (see point 3) is cyclical: ex. it only makes sense that finding bones buried deep in rock means that they are millions of years old if you believe going in that animals formed over millions of years. note: - just do a quick google search and you will find evidence of fossilized modern tools (tools from the last century). As well as documentation of caves that formed in tens, not millions of years. - intact DNA was found in dinosaur fossils which if they ARE millions of years old would be physically impossible. 3. The way you GET people to believe that the animals formed over millions of years is to tell them so: - In my college biology class our textbook began by stating the universe began with nothing and gave me no scientific proof to confirm that. The book literally told me to accept it on good FAITH that what they were telling me was true (see point 2). - showing pictures of animals morphing from one organism to another when we have no physical evidence of the in-between creatures they are showing And then mock and chastise people who don't believe you (for example calling your opponent in an argument in the youtube comment section lazy). 4. Historically the athiestic community has mocked the bible at every turn saying that the places and events recorded in it could not possibly be true only to find later that not only are the locations true (locations btw that were buried in the sand or turned to rubble long before the dead sea scrolls: scrolls dating over 300 years B.C. were found) But the names and events recorded in the bible were found as well. And all that with the athiest community either hiding or destroying any evidence they can that points to the bible being true. 5. The bible is the only book in History to acurrately predict the future: - The Jewish people being scattered throughout the world and then gathered in one place - The increase of natural disasters (like a woman's labor pains) - The pandemic that is currently going on - The revival that is currenlty going on because of said pandemic (My word will be shared to every nation will hear my word and then the end times will come Like I said I've had a lot of these conversations and I think I've said my peace. If you want to have the last word that's fine. But If you're interested in seeing a different viewpoint than the one you currently have I suggest you look into the links I've provided you, and I think you'll be surprised by what you find.

I love all of Prager U's plain good sense videos. There's only one thing here, I totally disagree with. Fundamental Bible-believing Christians believe the Old Covenant (Testament) as well as the New Testament....BOTH written by the hand of Prophets by the Spirit-inspired breath of God. Oh and by the way, the New Testament was written by Israelites as well. If you'll read Jeremiah 31:31 you will have a better insight as to what I'm saying. This passage speaks of God giving His people, the Jews, a new testament written NOT on tablets of stone, but written on the tablets of their heart. Amen
I love these videos, they way they are looking deeper into whats written. Whether you are religious or not, or whether you believe in God or not, the guidelines are the best for us, for a happier life. We can't have freedom without morality. He is right.
Who created us, wrote the roadmap for our life the 10 commandments, is holy and worthy of our complete obedience and worship, and sent His only son into sinful fallen humanity to save us? Only God.
Think about how ridiculus this whole religion is. Please. Liberate yourself from the religious education you received for only a few minutes, and think about the Bible. Think about how the Church used this book to create wealth for themselves in the past. Or how many sins the fckn holy church committed in the middle age. Think about the inquisition. Man, if the road to religion was not paved with dreadful sins and deception, moreover brainwashing, I could beleive in it. But religion has done utterly bad, what is more, dangerous things to humanity, without any solid proof. Sorry.
Are we just going to ignore the numerous times people offered burnt offerings to God before and well after Moses got the ten commandments? Once the offering was in fact a human.
***** here's one of many examples. Judges 11:34. Jephthah asks God to help him win a battle and promises to offer him the first thing to come out of his house when he returns. He wins the battle and when he comes home his daughter comes out to greet him. And he follows through with his promise and kills her and burns her body as an offer to God.
+Matt Bayes If you are referring to Isaac, the son of Abraham who God asked to be a sacrifice, then reread that story. God never intended for Isaac to be actually sacrificed. He sent His angel to stop the sacrifice from actually taking place.
I hear so much bull in this video, first God allowed the Hebrews to have their own slaves later on, and the founders had slaves themselves ( was it really so hard to free your own slaves and make an example? ). But anyways, most Christians tend to ignore these "morals" when it comes to gays, non-christians, and other groups that are not exactly like them.
You mistake the Hebrew understanding of "slaves." You think of them as a captive service population but the actual history of the actual word there is someone who had to lease himself out for money--in other words, an employee.
Jenna Caruthers That is if the slave is a Hebrew, the Bible regulates what you can do with fellow Hebrew slaves pretty well ( Exodus 21:2-6 ). But if the slave is bought in another country, as most slaves are. You can do whatever you want with them. ( Leviticus 25:44-46 ) And in Ephesians 6:5 Jesus said slaves should obey their masters, he did not say slaves should be free...he said obey your masters. That was in context of Roman slavery, which was very common and harsh. So if we used the Bible for guidance on laws, we would still have slavery.
codeagent47 the current world order in place is a state capitalism which was led and promoted worldwide by the US, whose primal tool (money) has the phrase "In God we trust" and a lot of free-mason symbolism on it. The US is 73% christian (or christian-derived) and its founders were very influenced by religion and mysticism too... I personally think religion, mysticism and spirituality are a very valid source of morality and ethics. Maybe they offer a too simplistic or unspecific view as to how things came to be, but in terms of morals and ethics I would love that everyone, including myself, practiced this knowledge more often
***** if you're looking at this way, true that founding fathers and most Americans' morality were influenced by the Christian, but separation of church and state is what brought balance and justice to the people. Moreover, little do people know that Christian also has strong paganism influences.
Morality is not objective, it's subjective. Also, why would I have an obligation to a god I should apparently believe in because of the bible tells me to and I should believe the bible because god supposedly wrote it. Did I miss anything?
Maxi 192 actually in judaism there is no commandment to believe. If i believe out of my own agenda then i dont need anyone else to obligate me to believe. And if i dont believe then there is no law to believe. We must know thats the difference between believing and knowing.
If morality is subjective, we are all in deep pooh. Look at the nations that promote atheism? Many more human-rights violations happening there then in places where Christianity is well rooted.
yah it is subjective. in my hometown murder never brought to justice, rape is natural, cannibalism is okay. it is what you mean with morality. will you say its wrong? no it is not wrong because morality. that's until Christianity spread the new morality, or should i say order, take over and cannibalism stop. other two still happen so often.

The concept of God does not alleviate the quandary of objective morality. The opinion of God is not absolute any more than humans' are. To insist otherwise is special pleading.
Actually it does make it absolute. Even if there isn't a god, it makes it a single set of rules that is at one point agreed upon and to the benefit of everyone like the rule of law. In fact making it God's law makes it much less likely that future generations would be willing to alter the law or intentions of the law purposely based on their personal opinions. That's if they respect the god however. That being said I have to say the ten commandments were well crafted.
AWESOMEO Even if God does exist, it changes nothing about whether morals can be or are absolute or not. Consider the age-old question: Is a thing good because God says it is good or does God say it is good because it is good, in and of itself? In either case, the same problems remain. If a thing is good simply because God wills it (as is being stated here in divine command philosophy), that which is good is in effect arbitrary and God could declare a thing good or evil on a whim, even reversing his decision, subject to His own preferences. In this case, morality is not absolute but is entirely subjective and arbitrary from God's perspective. We may have no say over what is CONSIDERED moral, but this is just an example where a more powerful being than ourselves overrules us on the question of morality. He could choose to do otherwise or even abstain from moral judgement altogether if He wanted. This precludes the concept of absolute morality. The only thing stopping or telling God to change morality is God Himself, not morality, making it less than absolute. Additionally, there is no 'wrong' answer in terms of morality, only an answer that God does not like. Again, this is not absolute or objective morality. Now, if a thing is good simply because it is good in and of itself, God is simply informing us of this fact when He tells us what is good. He has no power to change it any more than a human would. In this case, objective morality does not depend on a God's say so and could just as easily exist WITHOUT a God in existence as WITH one. Obviously, this sort of objective morality does nothing to establish a need for God. So, if God exists, morality is absolute or it is not. And if God does not exist, morality is either absolute or it is not. God's existence can do nothing to establish objective morality and so introducing the concept of God does nothing to alleviate the problem of logically establishing an objective morality.
Good and bad exist because God created them and named them such. He created all things so He has the right to define them. We do not. You can try, but over time His definitions will hold and yours will die. There are thousands of examples of this throughout history. There is also such a thing as having morals without God. This is actually in the Bible. Men find God's wisdom because they were essentially born with it or learned it from others who had wisdom. They are referred to as those who 'are a law to themselves'. One who does not follow the law is called 'lawless' though. These include those who try to redefine things to fit their own purposes in the selfish and meaningless pursuits of power or pleasure.
Ok, I came back and finished watching.... 3:22 You gotta love this shit. There is no better demonstration of religious loons' mental gymnastics and cherry picking than what he says right here: "Thats how much God hates slavery!"... Yes Dennis, he hates it so much that in Exodus Chapter 21 and Leviticus Chapter 7 vs. 2, God gives instructions on how to purchase, keep, beat and own slaves for life and what to do with their wives and children. The rest of this is irrelevant to Dennis Prager since he practices Judasim, but to any Christians out there that want to argue: "Oh but thats old testament! Jesus overturned old testament law."...No, he didn't. The only old testament laws he overturned were dietary and sacrificial laws. There is absolutely no scriptural support for claiming Jesus overturned all old testament law. None. Period. "But Jesus was against slavery!"...No, he wasn't. He never once condemned slavery: Luke, chapter 7 vs. 2, Colossians, chapter 3 vs. 22 and Titus, chapter 2 vs. 9 "Ok, but he didn't condone it either."... Jesus (God) already condoned it in the old testament law which still stands. He is reading into this commandment ideas that simply aren't there. God's reminding them that he took them out of bondage in Egypt (which isn't supported by any historical or archaeological evidence to begin with) was to ensure their obedience to him..."I did this for YOU! Therefore, worship ME!"... All this loon's blathering about freedom is pure fiction. As demonstrated when he goes into typical fundamentalist revisionist history concerning the founding of the U.S.A. No, Dennis Prager. The founding fathers didn't have this commandment or its made up connection to freedom in mind when they laid down the principles of this nation. The U.S.A was founded upon the ideas and principles of secular enlightenment philosophy, not religious dogmatism.
The scripture regarding slavery was God giving guidelines to wicked men who, having free-will, decided to enslave each other. God gave us a free-will to do good or evil. Those who use their autonomy to cause harm to others will feel the full weight of their just judgment in this world or the next. According to history the first group to endorse slavery were the Ethiopians when there became a pharaoh who knew not Joseph. This pharaoh was not Egyptian but Ethiopian. The Ethiopians despised the Jews and used their presence in Goshen as free labor. As to your false statement regarding 'no evidence of an exodus out of Egypt' once again you are wrong since there has been both historical and archaeological evidence since 1974 including chariot wheels, horse and human remains in the Dead Sea dating back to the time of the Exodus. Additionally, USA was founded upon Christian principles, though some of the Founding Fathers were deist, rather than Christians. Slavery was a highly contested subject at the time of the birth of our nation and rather than risking disunity and the resulting dissolution of the union, it was the consensus of the Framers to allow the state governance to decide whether or not to allow slavery. Sir, either you are poorly informed or have an ax to grind against Christians, Jews, or God. I'm praying for you "Mr. IHATEU."
On the one hand you say, god delivered us from Egypt. But god didnt deliver the Chinese, or Indians, the Europeans, Mongols, Africans etc from Egypt. This is a very specific god, of fhe particular jews following Moses out of Egypt. Why should anyone else listen to him? :-/
+IShallNotSubmit - This is actually a great question. It is true God chose the Israelites to be "His people." in the Old Testament. I think the key here is to keep in mind, God's choice was not based on anything the Jews did. Rather, this was a picture of things to come. This was God demonstrating His sovereignty over man by separating one group of people from the rest of the world. At the start of redemptive history it was the Jews. The law, and the Messianic lineage among many other things were revealed through the nation of Israel. Now God's plan for redemption has been revealed, and opened to the rest of the world, through the predicted life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. So...in one sense...you are correct to point out a certain amount of exclusivity...but in another sense...God is now accessible to the whole world...not only to the Jews...but to every human being that is capable of acknowledging their own sin(s) before an all knowing, all powerful, and Holy God.
Genghis Khan- If that's what you got from what I said, then what am I suppose to say to that? I feel bad for you? Because it's true...I do feel bad for you.
Genghis Khan- "... anyone who bases their life and morality on some magical wizard in the sky..." If you really believe this "straw man argument" then it's official...I do feel sorry for you. "who no one has ever seen or has any sort of empirical evidence for." Let's pretend for a moment, that what you believe about God, and what sort of "evidence" He should provide actually matters. How would you do it? You see my friend, I don't think we human beings are in a situation where we get to dictate what is and what is not sufficient evidence, in terms of wrestling with the question of God's existence. Furthermore, I think it's important here to make a distinction. The question, "does God exist." or "which God exists" are not scientific questions. They are philosophical questions, and should be treated accordingly.
+Genghis Khan - I may not be the person you want to have this conversation with. You see...you can't get away from "philosophy." Indeed...the "empiricism" you are appealing to is a philosophy in and of itself. It even takes philosophy to reject philosophy. We are all "philosophers" we're just not all very good at it. ;-)
Genghis Khan- why is it so difficult for people these days to have discussions or debates without insults? Did I insult you? I thought you said you felt bad for me? LOL If you really want to have a discussion...I'm cool with that. But lets not insult each other. I believe you're smarter than that. What would you like to discuss?...btw...I'm not a Muslim...I'm a Christian. There will be no flying of planes into buildings on my end.
There's so much wrong with this, so much false. I do not understand lying to uphold a conviction. If you believe something fully, then state it honestly, unless you are wrong, which you should be open to being, then you can convince a sound minded individual.

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Amen, well said my sister in Christ, May God Bless You.
Put God first...however love others as you would yourself...guuurlll you best be loving yourself...makes me worried

How can you talk about reflecting a God that is no one even agrees on what he looks like or wants done?
Have you ever entertain the thought that you are deluded? How would you test if you were?
Steven Wall
Ever since Adam and Eve ate the Forbidden Fruit we all have been born with sin already within us and nobody is immune to this.

I did not say that "we" was created in a garden.
"we are just humans. Animals with a variety of traits, mostly good, some bad"
I agree.
"How could you test if your premise is right?"
I think that the real question you should ask yourself is "How could I test if his premise is wrong?" As an atheist you should try to prove me wrong.

+richsocaplaya you have my respect for the process, of your view, i would never do anything to hurt you, but would give up everything to protect you as another human being should do, i will respect that the word God is a bit annoying it seams but it is in fact nothing but a word, in tell someone gives it meaning,(if you have a good heart, then you are good, and that of witch is in your heart will reflect outward) ;)

God created everything that has ever been including morality.
THEN ALONG CAME JESUS WITH HIS GRACE, MERCY, FORGIVENESS, LOVE & TRUTH--OUR SALVATION: "For the law was given by Moses, but grace & truth came by Jesus Christ." ( John.1:17 ) He came & showed us that salvation & true righteousness was not by works, but by grace!--That "the Lord is also Lord of the Sabbath, & that it was made for man, not man for the Sabbath." The first video I saw from this channel was about politics and it was interesting enough I thought the channel was purely academic and would have been good to check out once in a while. In fact he has rules on how to take care of slaves in Deutoronomy which states that as long as the slave is Jewish, the slavery term cannot be harsh but everything else is okay when it comes to foreigner slaves
This is a complete joke.
I really like this channel but I usually don't enjoy stuff like this. It seems to me organized religion is like a tool. It could be good or bad depending on who is wielding it. I think God wants us to Love each other no matter our differences. I don't really know anything just my 2 cents.
If we are gods children, why would he not forgive his children for not believing he existed?

"God hates slavery."
Well, that made me laugh. Mr. Prager, I'd ask if you had ever read the Bible, but I am pretty sure you have. Considering how often God commands his chosen people to own slaves, and also chooses to place his chosen people under enslavement, I hardly think that the god portrayed in the Bible really hated slavery that much.
I'd like to have examples
@@takthechroniker456 God: Exodus 21:20-21, Exodus 21:7-11, Leviticus 25:44-46, Deuteronomy 21:10-14, Deuteronomy 15:12-15 (I realize that Yahweh said to set Israelite slaves free after six years, however, this is still technically slavery)
Apostles: 1 Peter 2:18, Ephesians 6:5-8, Colossians 3:22-24, 1 Timothy 6:1-2, Titus 2:9-10
Praise the Lord
Just a few talking points:
1) God was power enough to create the universe but lacked the foresight to prevent slavery in the first place.
God gives each person a free will making that person responsible for the choice to be moral or sin. Slavery is a sin, created by the evil in a person's heart to devalue those enslaved. "God made the commandments about what man should do for man!"
*reads first four commandments.
"Hmmm... no, I don't think me saying 'JESUS CHRIST MY TOE' hurts other people."
"God hates slavery!"
*reads Leviticus.
"Hmmm... no."
So, just to be clear, you don't think that undermining the authority of the one who gave us these laws by openly insulting Him is hurting anyone? You think that insulting Him and by extension the laws He gave us whose authority is based in the fact that He is God is doing no harm to anyone. If that's honestly what you believe then I suggest you watch this video:

Also on the subject of slavery:

I could try to argue this out with you, but I've had enough of these youtube discussions with other atheists to know it's not going anywhere. So instead of trying to convince you I'm going to leave these links here and if you actually ARE interested in hearing our answer you can do the research yourself. Or don't. Your choice.
@@galentine1014 The fact that almost half of the commandments are dedicated to upholding the worship of the God, repeated multiple times to just extensively get across that this God is infinitely more important than helping your fellow man makes things clear.
I mean, look at your source on slavery. The first point is "Yes, God was fine with slavery, but only back then!" As if that makes a difference, as if there was ever a time when slavery was morally justified.
Followed up with the even more atrocious "You should never divorce your husband for any reason, even if they rape you and beat you." Not exactly a good defense of your "God made rules to help humans" thing, is it?
Then it's... "Well, the Bible says you should only enslave someone for seven years! Well, if they're Hebrew, if not, keep them as slaves for as long as you want."
I mean, come on, your source doesn't try argue with slavery, it tries to justify it.
@@maxmaccarthy1546 "The fact that almost half of the commandments are dedicated to upholding the worship of the God, repeated multiple times to just extensively get across that this God is infinitely more important than helping your fellow man makes things clear."
Or because God is the SOURCE of morality worshiping and loving Him will intrinsically mean keeping his commandments which will in turn mean treating others well:
1 John 5:3 "Loving God means keeping his commandments, and his commandments are not burdensome."
Matthew 22:36-40 Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the LAW and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
1 john 4:20-21 "If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother."
Matthew 25:40 ""The King will reply, 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.'"
And I could go on.

@@maxmaccarthy1546 And finally regarding your comment on anthropogeny:
You could point me thousands of different research papers, articles, etc. and say that because I don't know this or that my knowledge is incomplete and therefore I'm wrong (just because you have a lot of information doesn't mean that information is true) I could try and dissprove each theory you throw at me which would take hours and likely accomplish nothing (again I've had a lot of these conversations and there will ALWAYS be more information).
But these five things remain constant:
1. The fundamental building blocks of every athiestic theory in science and history (theories that can only be true if God did not create the universe) have been proven not only to be false, but outright lies:
ua-cam.com/video/YPneKiH0eJY/v-deo.html
ua-cam.com/video/VASfDNJi2b4/v-deo.html
2. The athiest religion (see point 3) is cyclical: ex. it only makes sense that finding bones buried deep in rock means that they are millions of years old if you believe going in that animals formed over millions of years.
note:
- just do a quick google search and you will find evidence of fossilized modern tools (tools from the last century). As well as documentation of caves that formed in tens, not millions of years.
- intact DNA was found in dinosaur fossils which if they ARE millions of years old would be physically impossible.
3. The way you GET people to believe that the animals formed over millions of years is to tell them so:
- In my college biology class our textbook began by stating the universe began with nothing and gave me no scientific proof to confirm that. The book literally told me to accept it on good FAITH that what they were telling me was true (see point 2).
- showing pictures of animals morphing from one organism to another when we have no physical evidence of the in-between creatures they are showing
And then mock and chastise people who don't believe you (for example calling your opponent in an argument in the youtube comment section lazy).
5. The bible is the only book in History to acurrately predict the future:
- The Jewish people being scattered throughout the world and then gathered in one place
- The increase of natural disasters (like a woman's labor pains)
- The pandemic that is currently going on
- The revival that is currenlty going on because of said pandemic (My word will be shared to every nation will hear my word and then the end times will come
Like I said I've had a lot of these conversations and I think I've said my peace.

Amen
So much hate on Christianity in these comments, it's sad
+Sean Mullane Have you seen the rest of the internet? It is all like this for people of faith. The new atheist faith does not like any heathens.
Jeffery Krueger Ya ik the internet is full of people saying how religion is dumb and the people who are are dumb
+Sean Mullane Considering all the deaths, wars, and discrimination religion has brought I find the "hate" rather justified.
HPGmaphax Ya, with so much shit happening from no religous driving people they should be hated too but you can't hate because they have no religon.
Sean Mullane It's not so much hate as it is critisism.
Offering has never been human, you just made that up
***** here's one of many examples. Judges 11:34. Jephthah asks God to help him win a battle and promises to offer him the first thing to come out of his house when he returns. He wins the battle and when he comes home his daughter comes out to greet him. And he follows through with his promise and kills her and burns her body as an offer to God.
well yes you are indeed right.
+epic um yes there is. He tells her he made a promise to God, she asks for 2 months to hang with her friends and then he kills her for God.
+Matt Bayes If you are referring to Isaac, the son of Abraham who God asked to be a sacrifice, then reread that story. God never intended for Isaac to be actually sacrificed. He sent His angel to stop the sacrifice from actually taking place.
I hear so much bull in this video, first God allowed the Hebrews to have their own slaves later on, and the founders had slaves themselves ( was it really so hard to free your own slaves and make an example? ). But anyways, most Christians tend to ignore these "morals" when it comes to gays, non-christians, and other groups that are not exactly like them.
mcordima what?
You mistake the Hebrew understanding of "slaves." You think of them as a captive service population but the actual history of the actual word there is someone who had to lease himself out for money--in other words, an employee.
Jenna Caruthers That is if the slave is a Hebrew, the Bible regulates what you can do with fellow Hebrew slaves pretty well ( Exodus 21:2-6 ).
But if the slave is bought in another country, as most slaves are. You can do whatever you want with them. ( Leviticus 25:44-46 )
And in Ephesians 6:5 Jesus said slaves should obey their masters, he did not say slaves should be free...he said obey your masters. That was in context of Roman slavery, which was very common and harsh.
So if we used the Bible for guidance on laws, we would still have slavery.
***** Shots fired!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Slaves in ancient Israel were to pay debt or purge crimes. Slaves in pther countries and modern times were like livestock.

Government of the United States of America is not in any sense, found on the Christian religion. - John Adams 1797

(for anyone wondering where you got that)
codeagent47 the current world order in place is a state capitalism which was led and promoted worldwide by the US, whose primal tool (money) has the phrase "In God we trust" and a lot of free-mason symbolism on it.
Government =/= Base laws
codeagent47 little do people know that it didn't.
Morality is not objective, it's subjective. Also, why would I have an obligation to a god I should apparently believe in because of the bible tells me to and I should believe the bible because god supposedly wrote it. Did I miss anything?
You missed everything.
Morality is objective
Modern humans have been around for ~200,000 years. Why did God wait 197,000 years to pass on this valuable information?
Have you looked in a mirror lately?
I can see why?

THE TEN COMMANDMENTS OF MOTHER EARTH
I. Thou shall love and honor the Earth for it blesses thy life and governs thy survival.
II. Thou shall keep each day sacred to the Earth and celebrate the turning of its seasons.
III. Thou shall not hold thyself above other living things nor drive them to extinction.
IV. Thou shall give thanks for thy food, to the creatures and plants that nourish thee.
V. Thou shall educate thy offspring for multitudes of people are a blessing unto the Earth when we live in harmony.
VI. Thou shall not kill, nor waste Earth's riches upon weapons of war.
VII. Thou shall not pursue profit at the Earth's expense but strive to restore its damaged majesty.
VIII. Thou shall not hide from thyself or others the consequences of thy actions upon the Earth.
IX. Thou shall not steal from future generations by impoverishing or poisoning the Earth.
X. Thou shall consume material goods in moderation so all may share the Earth's bounty.
The bible is so amazing every thing is in perfect order, of course it was written by God.
Inspired by God ,written by humans.

The concept of God does not alleviate the quandary of objective morality. The opinion of God is not absolute any more than humans' are. To insist otherwise is special pleading.
Humans have no objective morals whatsoever, if God doesn't exist, good and bad can't be absolute.
AWESOMEO what is absolute good or bad..and why does there need to be a God for that to be true?
IHATEU."
You rank #3 on my list of the most beautiful and important influential people I know. #1 being God and #2 my Dad. Thx again Mr. Prager.

"who no one has ever seen or has any sort of empirical evidence for."
Let's pretend for a moment, that what you believe about God, and what sort of "evidence" He should provide actually matters.
LOL
If you really want to have a discussion...I'm cool with that.
