- Double episode: After a couple are robbed and murdered in their home in the middle of the night on an Ontario native reserve, a forensic biologist and a firearms expert study a sneaker print in the snow in order to track down the killers.
A sleep expert tries to determine if a man could have been sleepwalking when he drove 20 minutes down a highway and murdered his mother-in-law.

My sister is a sleep walker and often walked outside in her nightgown and would walk into other people’s houses! Our neighbors would often walk her back to our house gently guiding her without waking her! However, on one occasion she had a cast iron frying pan and attacked a neighbor-Later we discovered he had beaten his wife and child fairly frequently and he bragged about it! Reportedly, it was his job to discipline them and his Bible said so! My sister was close friends with his son! Thank Goodness she did not hurt him but it was enough to scare him and his wife finally left him!
WTF shidd show up at my house my dog will have a snack bet she'll wake up then real quick and haul ashhhh on home maybe missing something but my dog is a light eater 😂

Something good Came out of it.Hope that she don't Hurt herself in the future. My friend(not slepp walking though) Scizoprhenic, when taking drugs togheter he would enter a strange place. He weren't ther. Having conversations with god and stuff.
Your sister should stay in an asylum. Crazy psychopaths can do something terrible.
Must be her unconscious mind wanting to protect her friend, bless her. Glad nothing bad happened to her and you had (mostly) kind neighbours who would assist her home.
IS THAT REAL?He received a whole six years for what he did ...I guess they felt sorry for the perpetrator because he needed money to buy new shoes ..What a joke .
I used to sleep walk, then drive, shop at a 24hr store etc. Fortunately someone realised I was ‘sleep walking’ and eventually I was referred to a sleep clinic.
I’m now a chronic insomniac. Would be funny but it’s not.
Interesting, I’m further into this case and I know my biological father was also a sleepwalker. Thank God, I didn’t commit crime let alone murder. So sad.
No it is not! My sister sleep walks and I have a brother that has a form of narcolepsy that has restricted his freedom an awful lot! 🍃🌸🍃

Benedict and Lanoux were sentenced to six years. They broke into this couple's home, robbed them and attempted to murder the homeowner who was left with brain damage... and they received six years. Wow.
It was attempted murder.
Six years was not justice.
Should have got double the sentence at least.
The sleepwalker case really hit home for me. I was found one night smoking at the window. I had no idea, my parents told me the following day. I was lucky they knew not to wake me up, bexause my aunt had it too. My greatest fear was not to harm them in my sleep... It has to do with a high level of stress in our cases 🙈 Horror living 100%...

Poor John Greer, I couldn’t even imagine how he must have felt after realising what he’d done, especially not knowing why he did it and having no memory of the attack. His poor in-laws and his wife too….Ugh it’s just devastating all round 😔
If we take Sigmund Freud psychology, maybe he had some resentment that he didn't let out and the subsconscious acts out during sleep... it's what I tentativvly guess.
@@landang7906 perhaps your right yes, although they did say though out the video that he was particularly close to his Mother-In-Law and felt love from her he hadn’t gotten from his own mother as a child so I wondered if maybe it might have been triggered by guilt or shame at the thought of having to tell her parents what he had done? Fear of rejection? I think we could speculate forever. You could be right though as I said, no one knows what goes through a person’s mind and in this case not even the person in question knew what had gone on in his mind! I find it fascinating that his grandfather also sleepwalked too!! I had no it clue it could run in families 🤷🏻♀️
@@landang7906 It was made clear of the condition (60 hours no sleep) and extreme anxiety he was in. It looked to me that he became aggressive when the mother showed up with a knife. He probably felt threatened in his sleep that he resorted to a live or die survival mode?
I dated a guy who would sleep walk. He would cook, talk and explore the house while sleeping and genuinely not remember a bit of it.
The home invasion with a robbery and attempted murder only netted the two inept, bumbling, cold blooded criminals 6 years in prison. That's a travesty of justice. They should have gotten 20 years. They probably got out in 3 so they could do it again. Ridiculous.

Seriously 6yrs for attempted murder! Where's the justice in that? They probably will get out well before that. The poor man that's getting over brain damage that may take years and probably won't ever go back to his work again. Ask that hard working couple what they think?
My dad had issues as a kid, he wandered outside and fell out a window which resulted in a nasty scar he has to this day. He doesn't have sleep issues no more but I do. I've acted aggressive in those moments, not being in control of what happened. I keep begging my mum to take me to a doctor in case something serious happens. What if instead of moving around objects or turning stuff on I grab a weapon? The thought always crosses my mind before I fall asleep.

My kids have always acted out in their sleep if they had a ruff day at school, a screaming match or like my eldest grandchild always prepared food.

My siblings used to sleep talk alot when they had a stressful day. I used to do it and catch myself doing it sometimes 😂 So embarassing but whatever.
john had no motive, i sincerely believe he did not mean to kill her parents. He is in trouble but he has a loving family and the wife did not choose to divorce him. I think if finances isn't a problem anymore, he has no real reason to kill. every one here is a victim
I sleep walk often when stressed. When I was taking ambien I sleep walked talked cooked and shopped online without waking or realising I only realised when the shopping I’d purchased arrived. I don’t sleep walk much atm as seem to do it more when I am stressed. I’ve sleep cooked and also smashed my iPad screens dropping my iPads while asleep also. I had to get rid of a glass cabinet I walked into numerous times and was woken up as things on it would fall over and the noise would wake me up. I’ve alarms so when I walk near my front door they will go off to wake my up.

15:25 It's not "circumstantial". It's physical, forensic evidence. By contrast, circumstantial evidence would be something like a suspect having motive and opportunity without any verifiable alibi. Circumstantial evidence is the opposite of physical evidence. It has to do with the intangible circumstances. So I'll reiterate my initial point... the evidence in this case was the opposite of circumstantial, it was physical evidence or hard proof. And although a defense attorney would try to explain it away, there is no REASONABLE innocent explanation.

When did DNA become circumstantial, and a shoe print being far more valid over DNA? I get this is a show made in the early 90s, but still, "come on man"!
At the time it was cause on the early 90 DNA was not getting tested that much it was still new so shoe prints would be more reliable and finger prints

In the first one, his wife made a HUGE mistake when she ran out of the house. The robbers car was running in the driveway...she should've jumped in it & used it to get help. That would leave them no way to escape except on foot. The 2nd one, I feel he got away with murder. What's to stop him from doing it again? After all, he was crafty enough to forge multiple checks with the wife's signature & to hide that he didn't really have a job.

The guy explains at the beginning of the show that the names of the innocent have been changed but the names of the guilty have not

I guess the real question is why did he act violently in his sleep and not, say, go for a jog or bake a cake? he wasn't taking care of his emotions and financial and home life before this happened. I think that makes him partially responsible.

As someone whos had aggressive sleep walking in the past, its not rlly something you can control. You're literally unconscious, you don't remember what happened until you wake up. And not being able to control that is sadly how it is for most sleepwalkers.
(I never like, murdered someone, just screaming i suppose. Again, I don't remember, but my sibling told me of a few instances of it happening)

John Greer EVEN if he was sleep walking EVEN in his subconscious WHY would he want to kill his loving in-laws that always stood by him? I think it was because he couldn't face telling them about his stealing and despicable behaviour also risk losing their love. Honestly I think he had a breakdown with all the stress! His hands got cut with the knife because he had a fight with his poor mother-in-law then freaked out. After all it was said he'd never did anything like that again or before. I wonder what his father-in-law thinks!
