Thanks for the input. This is what GM tells me and frankly I don't remember if any of the other Equinox models I've driven had a DVD: New for 2013 Available rear-seat, dual-player DVD entertainment system with a dual displays in the seat backs and dual wireless headphones. P{erhaps previous version was single screen???
I have a new 2013 LT with the 4 cylinder (company car) and it can burn the tires off from a dead stop for about 30 feet. Very powerfull for a 4 cylinder. I see you are driving the LTZ model. I like this vehicle, wish it was 4 wheel drive though, but it is a company car. I have no complaints.
I'd rank the Sorento ahead of the Equinox in style, spaciousness, interior appeal and value but the 2013 Equinox V6 drives so well now that it leads in that category.
This car is nice but there are other SUVs out there that are better in my taste. Ford edge cost the same as a higher trim equinox at the same time it offers more tech. Now between this and a escape, I'd take the equinox.
I would have to go with the Equinox. I've recently driven both the Sorento and an Equinox and I favor being behind the wheel of the Equinox. In my opinion, the Equinox is easier to maneuver and feels quite a bit smaller than the Sorento. When I drove the Sorento I felt like I was driving a much larger vehicle, and the steering felt strange when I drove it on the highway and around town. Though the Equinox has numb steering, I found it quite pleasant and it was still easy and fun to maneuver.
Remember, an RDX is basically a Honda underneath and I know for a fact an Alternator is not 1500 dollars lol, not even close. The RDX utilizes the engine of the Odyssey and the parts are interchangeable, and, it's very easy to change and it should cost about the same. I would never buy a German car personally due to upkeep cost. The RDX is around the same price but offers more refinement and better quality and the only equipment missing compared to this is the Navigation. Just my 2 cents
I have this exact car only different seats and no navigation. I do have to say it's been a great car. Currently have 84,500 miles on it and we have only had on issue which cost less than $300 to fix. I do a lot of high way driving so have been seeing an average on 19mpg. The ride is still very smooth and the v6 still seems up to anything I throw at it. Only problem I have with it is the plastic trim ALL OVER the car feels very fake, and the engine is currently making a weird rattling noise at low RPMs but I seem to be the only one that can hear it
Captiva is its own model, its smaller, more along the size of a Rogue or Escape not a Murano or Edge where as the Equinox/Terrain fit right in the middle.
Nice job Steve, just a note and its very very minor and me being nit picky. The rear seat entertainment was on in 2010 and 11 I think but took a hiadeous (atleast on the online builder) from this and the Terrain. Then again they could of tweaked them so who knows. Other then that, very good review once again.
With my money I would get a 2nd/3rd year Escape. Screw first year cars. Or wait until the new Rav-4 comes out. If they get rid of the side opening rear door I would consider the Rav-4.
Yea, can't be expected to up on all the cars you get to review and drive. ^^ I'd be only good for the GM stuff, memorize everything.. I have no life haha. Previous version was dual screen in the seat backs, but maybe they had issues and dropped it and now bringing it back to say we ADDED content. Either way its a good feature for this segment.
I personally like the Kia. I think it more suits my younger, active lifestyle as opposed to the 'family man' aspect. I find GM has more of a stigma to me then, say, the Kia of the 90's.
Rather go for an Equinox, Kia is good but still in my eyes the 90`s are still with me haha. Chevrolet can make quality vehicles ie: Cruze, new Sonic, Camaro, Vette etc. Kia can too I guess but I`m an idiot for being too prejudice and cannot live with that badge
Steve its time for a new motorhome review. Your last one was great, I can't find anyone else that has done real test reviews. And you must be due for a vacation to Disney again anyway.
ecoboost Ford LOL. Not only doesn't escape not pass NHTSA ratings, but the ecoboost is neither good on fuel nor on reliability with all the recalls. this is why consumer report dinged Ford, not on myford touch alone though moving everything there is a disaster as well. you should only introduce technology if it makes life easier and car efficient. apparently, the so-called American engineers at ford don't get it.
Question: this exact Equinox I tested or a Kia Sorento SX? Discuss...
I've been seeing the fleet-only Captiva Sport in these parts a lot lately. Used to be a Saturn Vue.

I've put 3000 miles on my new EQ 2LZ, and the more I drive it, the more I love it.

Always well done reviews, Steve. btw, what type of camcorder and editing software do you use for your videos?
This car is nice but there are other SUVs out there that are better in my taste. Ford edge cost the same as a higher trim equinox at the same time it offers more tech. Now between this and a escape, I'd take the equinox.
Question. Does the Equinox LTZ have heated mirrors, and if so, how do you turn them on?

It's not that but a filter nonetheless...editor uses these to glam it up.
Great review Steve, any new Volkswagen's coming up for a review in the new month-or-so?
Now you're talking! I think you're right!

Funny you ask...VW Touareg TDI on Thursday.
Captiva is its own model, its smaller, more along the size of a Rogue or Escape not a Murano or Edge where as the Equinox/Terrain fit right in the middle.
Its like a race car lol. This new chevy handles with the v6 AWD. Whats your thoughts, 4 cyc or the new 3.6L?
Thank you, sir.
Which trim level gets 500 miles one one single tank?

Great review!
That 2013 Chevy Equinox might be my next vehicle and I drive a 2006 Equinox
I just got me 2013 Equinox LS in February(the 29th of that month)
Outback 2013 coming soon?
Whats With The Instagram Filter In the Beginning Of The Video?
and you can take that escape back for the recals they are having once a week
With my money I would get a 2nd/3rd year Escape. Screw first year cars.

Nice sharp design! It's rear reminds me mercedes ML last design.

Yeah but that would add a lot of money to the MSRP though wouldn't it?

No reason to upgrade the power. My grandfather owns an 06' model and it is very fast! It was fine the way it was.
Troy Donahue really? I own an '06 Torrent AWD. Quick it most certainly is not lol
no one said it was groundbreaking

kia...but not the SX...go for the EX...SX is like 40k...better options than both for that price...(murano, rdx, pilot)..IMHO
Steve its time for a new motorhome review. Your last one was great, I can't find anyone else that has done real test reviews. And you must be due for a vacation to Disney again anyway.
Yeah, because the 3 recalls I've gotten on my G8 is somehow better... THEY ALL HAVE THEM!!! WTH?
ecoboost Ford LOL. 16 mpg isnt very good
Secrets of the trade ;-)
Still I would think it would do better.
why is the front chin, splitter, air dam like 4 in off the ground? u cant even drive over curbs. terrible
The interior is still crap, and for 36 grand you could buy an RDX or Q5 and they get better fuel economy
Based on your review alone and looks i would say the KIA!
no
Boring! This thing straight up says rental all over it
Like your mom
GM vehicles are SOOOOO overpriced in my opinion...
Ugly front and over priced
