    Come see all the details of my 2024 Crochet Temperature Blanket plan, and grab your FREE color chart, temperature log and more in this tutorial!
    What is a temperature blanket, anyway? Basically, it's a log of all the daily temperatures of one year in crochet blanket form!
    I'll show you how to start your own temperature blanket and give you all the details of my pattern in this video. And BTW, this project is easy enough for beginners!
    🌟 Fun Fact: 2024 is a Leap Year! So that means we'll be doing 366 rows instead of 365. Don't worry, the free printable calendar for recording your daily temperatures has a space for that extra day!

    Personally I am weaving the ends as I go - using the same stitch that you are. I will add few rows of border at the end. I am not a fringe kind of gal BUT it is your blanket so you should do what you want to.

    I’m thinking about making a temperature blanket for my granddaughters birthday year, just picking out the yarn and getting ideas!! I love the yarn you’ve picked out!!

    I made a linen stitch temp blanket 2 years ago in a ‘continuous round’ square. It was much more manageable than an oversized rectangle. I used 20 stitches in the low temp, followed by 20 for the high temp. If we had snow, I added 10 stitches of a fuzzy glimmery white yarn in between - no monthly dividers, but I suppose I could have added some black stitches to denote the months (next time). I made a 3 row border in ivory, left the ends, tying them in 3-tie square knots, and then lined the back in an ivory flannel, hand stitching the border and tufting in corners every few inches in #3 crochet thread. This year I’m making 2 row solid granny squares with the low in the centers and highs as the outer, piecing them in strips and joining as I go. I’ll do a border to use as an anchor for my backing … no waaaaaay will I bother with ends again 😂 Can’t wait to see your creation take shape ❤

    I was glad to see your video! I’m ready to jump in after watching several other videos 😀 What size crochet hook are you using to get your size of blanket? I’m going to be doing my first temperature crochet blanket this year. I plan to also do the linen stitch, which looks so pretty. I’m hoping to start with two rows like a border and then mark every month with a light gray of the same color. Then end my blanket with the same color. Also, I hope to weave my ends in as I go. Good luck!

    Yes, my first temperature blanket for 2024! I am also doing the moss stitch and a variegated Hobby Lobby yarn. It is a take from another designers 2023 blanket. Let’s have fun with the process! Be Well

    Never knit or crocheted before. Bought a loom followed your video from 2 years ago and I made 15 hats so far. I’m looking to broaden my skills and wondering if you ever made scrubbies with a similar technique with a small loom. Would love to see a video in that.

    Hi ,
    How many stitches do I need to do for a queen size blanket? This is my first work so I’m not sure;thanks in advance

    • @YarnStash
      @YarnStash  8 місяців тому

      I can't say 100% for sure, but going by the math from my blanket (with a 5.5mm size I hook and worsted weight Brava Tweed yarn) I think 318 stitches should be around 90 inches across, give or take. You would need to add 2 for the first turning chain, so you'd start with 320 chains. Like I said, that's just an estimation, but it should get you in the ballpark. Good luck!

    I’m making my first temperature blanket, and I’m using the moss stitch. When I use a new yarn, I’m crocheting over the tails, because I don’t want to sew all the tails when I finish the blanket. But I’m not sure if it is the best option to deal with the tails, because I can see the end of the tail through the stitches. Any suggestion?

    • @Lafayette19P
      @Lafayette19P 8 місяців тому +1

      @LTM maybe you can do single chain stitch instead. Or a star stitch so you won't be able to see the tails whem crocheted over. Never did a temperature blanket but excited first hearing of this!!! Star stitch is easy too but beautiful effect when done the right way. Takes a up lot of yarn though.

    • @YarnStash
      @YarnStash  8 місяців тому

      That's usually what I would do too, but the bad thing is they tend to work their way out over time, and I know I'll be washing this blanket regularly so that's why I'm not just crocheting over the ends (although it is soo much easier!). As much as it stinks, weaving the ends in at the end (and kind of zig zagging around while you do it) will ensure the ends actually stay put once it's done. But it's going to be a LOT of ends with this blanket- so at this point my plan is either to keep the ends sticking out, tie knots in them all, maybe add a little extra fringe to fill it out and call it a fringy edge- or I may weave them all in and do a crochet border. It sort of depends on how much time/energy I have when the time comes. It's going to be a big job, but it's going to be a really nice blanket too, so it's worth it (or at least that's what I'm saying now, lol.). Good luck!!
