    Sold my A7iv. Too often the eye af would not focus on the eyes but front focus or focus on the eye lashes. Got the R6 II and the eye focus never misses. I do miss my 35mm 1.4 GM though. That lens was a beast.

      Kinda the same situation. Used the A73 for portraits and motorsport, with sigma 35 and 105 1.4 a lot of shutter lag, not precise focus. Have now R6 and its superb, never missed a shot! Even tough I have just a 50 1.8, 135 f2 an 300 f4. But as you I miss those lenses.
      What lenses are you using now?

      @@M4TR1X RF 24-70mm 2.8 and RF 50mm 1.2. They're great but super heavy. I prefer Sony's lighter lenses.

    Many thanks for this video Taylor ! As of this year I moved to the A7IV for weddings and specifically because of hybrid shooting. I'm quite happy with the results especially in terms of autofocus and ease of switching back and forth stills/video. I've not had any issues with card writing speeds (either with v60 or v30 cards) except for one Sony (non-tough) card that doesn't keep up and causes lag. I've had no issues with Lexar, Sandisk or Kingston..
    I'm going to give your WB idea a go. I find it a pain to be switching between WB constantly and it's even worse when you have multiple cameras and multiple M programs setup in advance (ie. M1 = 25 fps / 1/50, M2 = 50 fps / 1/100 etc...)
    Thanks for your continued videos and insight into photography and videography ! Cheers

      I agree with PP11. Out of camera the image is great and you know what your getting.

    On the different settings for photo video at end of video I shoot slog3. I checked the iso box so my base iso is at 800 for video and when I switch to photo it is back at a lower iso. Very helpful.

    when you videography a wedding in the church what kind of focus do you use? manual with spot square? what?

    Are you shooting aperture priority in video? Or how are you managing shutter speeds when you switch to video if you’re also doing photography with no ND filter?

    • @TaylorJacksonPhoto
      @TaylorJacksonPhoto  2 місяці тому +1

      I’m just manual mode most of the time, and I also don’t pan or move my camera a lot so I can get away with higher shutter speeds. If something looks weird I run ReelSmart Motion Blur on it

    Interesting and thanks! I've been considering getting the A1 for hybrid but this has put me off a little.

      With CFExpress cards A1 also works. I'd just rather have 2 A7IV for the cost though.

      @@TaylorJacksonPhoto Yeah - I rely on silent shooting a lot though which rules out the A7iv. Yours is the better business decision though!

    Jackson! Thanks for this video, just switched from Canon yesterday, and this helped!
    Quick question, in my R5, I could have 1 card for RAW and 1 for jpeg, can I setup the A7IV like this?

  • @marclabro

    nice presentation. For still images, do you use back button focus with AFON button or half press ? if half press, how can we recompose as we do easily in BBF ? use focus hold lens button ?

    Nice one! I love your methodology with the A7IV. Keeping it simple and reducing time in post. I too like the single shot and continuous slow mode - quality over quantity - ingrained from the film days.
    Do the 128gb cards have enough capacity when shooting hybrid? Thanks!

    • @TaylorJacksonPhoto
      @TaylorJacksonPhoto  Рік тому +2

      An an A7IV I don't go over 128 on a day usually. It's nice to 256 in there just in case you get a surprise second ceremony or something though

    Hey Taylor , So if you are based in Europe (pal) you need to shoot on 50P and slow it down to 24p in premiere pro? Looking forward hearing from you.

      Actually in a digital world it's irrelevant... Will only matter for transmission over analog broadcast which I believe at least in developed countries is a thing of the past...
