One important feature about this device is that the screen is landscape native. Unlike other devices like the aya neo for example, where the screen is actually portrait, forced into landscape which causes all sort of resolution issues with many games. But on this device (2024 version) thats not an issue :)
I got a mini laptop a few years ago and there's really something weirdly satisfying about having something tiny that runs full windows and being able to use a keyboard with it.
Brings me joy to see a reviewer who gets the concept of this handheld! I've got my own (2023 model) and love it, especially how it sits in my tiny hands and how much power I've got in my pocket. I definitely appreciate you throwing in that it's not a good choice for most people, though, because anyone who doesn't like clamshells, needs a bigger screen, or has a reasonable budget will have a bad time with this one. Great video as always!

@@rowanquinlan6049 I absolutely LOVE! It. I did a couple tweaks that really improve the experience. First set motion assistant to start with windows and start minimized. Then in motion assistant set up some keyboard shortcuts for some TDP presets, and ones for + and - 1 TDP. I have it boot straight to windows when it turns on, and go to steam big screen by default. I have it set to shut down when you hit power and go to sleep when you close the lid. great review, I love my win mini! One note about mouse mode, the triggers actually speed up the mouse acceleration so you may be more comfortable using that over the trackpad when gaming.
You dont need the app open. Click the windows Audio icon in the bottom right hand corner next to the clock to turn on / off DTS-X. Spacial audio off disables it. DTS-X only works for games running at a higher TDP like 10w and higher. Don't use DTS for lower wattages or you'll get sound clipping.
So the reason why it's called Motion Assistant is because the app was originally for setting up gyro controls on GPD devices. Over time they just kinda piled on more and more functionality on it, resulting in a monstrosity of an app.
kinda wish the sticks were on the inside rather than the outside. Especially since X and A are usually the main contextual buttons since on a normal controller they're closer to the stick. With this layout you have to stretch further to do the actions that are meant to be quick. Nevermind the fact you've got to get passed your own muscle memory to go left instead of right.
I've owned one for several months. The controls are quite compact so you don't actually have to stretch nearly as much as you might expect. It took me about 2 days to get used to the side by side controls.
I love how there are so many different variations of handheld PCs, one for everyone. All I want is a controller with a mini pc inside and no screen, just connect to AR glasses.

Overall this blows away any other handheld, even the win Max 2 at 10 in is not that big blows away everyone
Extremely Good ❤
i kinda wish the legion go was more like this instead of more like the steam deck but then again the legion go wouldnt have detachable controllers if it was like this device.
