- Hi all
We promised this recipe a while back so we had to deliver. We saw a bag of mixed berries on special so we decided it was as good a time as any to show this recipe. Unfortunately we missed some of the prime berry picking season which we normally make the most off this year so we showed the recipe with the frozen berries but fresh berries are just as easy to jam!
Ingredients
500g mixed berries
1 cup sugar
pinch of salt
1 tsp lemon juice
Serve with scones or on toast. - Навчання та стиль

Hello Sweet Mama 🙏😘 Homemade jam, scones and cream is something! Jam making is also popular in Mauritius during the Chinese Guava or 'Goyaves de Chine' in French is a very important wild fruit in Mauritius. The fruit usually ripens and is harvested around April in the upper humid tropical forest. The plant here was quickly spread by birds, monkeys, brown pig and Man. It has now invaded our forests, thus hindering the regeneration of native species. It has a whole tradition built around it. Once the fruits are ripe, families come together with baskets in their hands and go picking red and yellow fruits. Another tradition is about consuming the fruits-though they are tasty raw, Mauritians prefer it with crushed salt and chilli or in the form of jam. What does it taste like? It is extremely pleasant, refreshing at will, sweet when fully ripe, with a slightly sour strawberry-like flavor. The pulp is creamy-white with a melting and juicy texture.Making jam and use it as a filling for my favorite shortbread cake, napolitain, coated with icing sugar. This original, homemade jam is the secret ingredient that gives the napolitain cake its delicacy. Hi Chota, we also had Chinese guava in durban and really enjoyed it as a fruit. The jam from it sounds very interesting!
I will try definitely
Thanks Cynthia!

Can you freeze picked fruit, freeze them and then make jam if too much at one time.
Hi yes you can do that. The jam will also keep for long times in the fridge but remember to bring it back up to temperature to use as the sugar may crystalise.
Hello aunty .how u.I noticed u didn't comment on us putting comments for the stuffed chicken breast😢.Please read it .
