    I am still in college right now. And I desire after graduation to pursue marriage because I see my potential in homemaking. Sometimes, I worry that my parents would be disappointed because I don't want to pursue a career that would make me successful in life, and my four years in college would be so useless if I don't go to work. For me, having a loving and faithful husband and being a homemaker is such a huge success. It gives me peace of mind. Our culture today discourages me a lot to dream of this thing. The people in our country would often look down on us if we marry early age and refuse to work. Others would make us regret our accomplished college degree. They don't see or value the hard work and effort each homemaker had to do every day. They don't realize that it is the most fulfilling and successful career in life! The real treasure that a homemaker will receive is the joy of becoming one. I am so tired of working for other people, even studying (LOL). It makes me so stressed and pressured all the time. How come some people exert much effort to achieve stressful careers? Is riches or fame all that matters to them? Okay, no offense. Anyways, thank you for this encouragement! I feel so understood and motivated to pray a lot about my desires. I am so fascinated watching you with your daughter. God Bless you.

      Awe, thank you so much for sharing your story and what you are experiencing! I have heard this type of comment from literally hundreds of women.
      Isn’t it funny that it seems the very people who tell you that you can be whatever you want, do every dream you have, are also the ones that then quickly bat down if you’d dare actually want to be a homemaker, as though it is the one dream that we can not pursue?
      I just find that to be funny yet also sad. I totally get what you’re saying. Just because some people want more money, or a huge career doesn’t mean it has to be for everyone. I would much prefer tending to my family as my main focus, and then doing small business ventures on the side. It satisfies me to love and care for my husband and daughter well.
      I totally get you and thank you for sharing this! 💕💕

      I wanted to share, I graduated with my mechanical engineering degree in 2019. I worked one job for 6 months then became a housewife. My family is still proud of me and thinks no less of me. I dont regret getting my degree and I dont regret becoming a housewife. I agree this video gave me a good reminder that it is okay and honestly... being a homemaker has been more difficult than getting my degree!! The amount of self discipline needed is incredibly difficult. I am still learning and wish being taught homemaking skills were common in todays society.

      I am 56 years old, and old of your mother or even grandmother LOL! The reality is is your degree will not go to waste. I’m not sure what you’re studying, but I do encourage you to get married after college as soon as you can to a good man. Your role will be to help him build something together, and I’m sure whatever skills or education you have can be used towards that. Help him in whatever business or career endeavors he has. You could work for your husband or find a part time way of generating income that uses your skills and abilities.
      You are very right about the culture making you feel guilty if you want to be a Professional wife, homemaker and mother. They have been doing that ever since I was in college in the late 1980s!

      I didn’t finish my college degree, got married young, had 2 children with 1 on the way. Still in my 20s now.
      Homemaking is hard work, yet beautiful and rewarding. (Also I relate to the disappointing family thing… I have definitely disappointed mine and still do! But it doesn’t bother me and we all get along just fine.)

    I've been a SAHM for 12yrs and still struggle with the mindset! People ask me how my kids are good at school, etc, etc. Erm, ME! I do feel more satisfaction in my role as I see my family succeed. I mentioned getting a job or something recently and my eldest said "yeah, maybe in the future once we've moved out" 😂

    • @BecauseitMatters
      @BecauseitMatters  3 роки тому

      The mindset is such a battle, I think because the culture around us is constantly yelling in our ears the opposite of what we are working our lives away doing is what is ‘actually’ important. I still struggle sometimes as well, but try not to focus on the negative constantly surrounding me.

    Where. Have. You. Been???? This was what I had always wanted to do, too, and my now-husband loves the idea of me being home and taking care of everything and the children. My then-husband believed I had to go to work (he was obsessed with money) even though a babysitter for 2 children, gas for the car to and from work, clothes because it was an office job, leaving my daughters 10+ hours a day, never saw my husband because of our work hours, left me with feeling lonely, little money out of my paychecks and wanting to cry all of the time. I just wanted to be home with my girls and we COULD afford it. We already had two vehicles, a house we owned, travelled once a year, all on his paycheck alone. So why was I being forced into the world feeling miserable?? Well, that marriage did not last, obviously. My now-husband loves that I stay at home, but I always had this feeling everyone was talking bad about me behind my back because I don't work outside the home. As the years passed, I didn't think about it anymore because now everyone knows this is what I do and who I am. I love my life now and again, with one income, it is possible for one parent to stay home.

I wanted to be a homemaker why would they judge my choice. I have been a homemaker now for 28 years. Have eight children another social stigma let me say its been a little annoying for me that folks look down on other folks because of the life they have chosen for themselves opposed to the life others have chosen for them.
