Hey! Nice video! Any idea of how to share only the converted videos (offline convert) rather than the original video (I want to send stream links to my clients). The original video seems to big and buffers.. Thank you!
Another question on video station is with respect to playlists. I have several music video files, but they all have a delay in between playing. You can remove this from the player in youtube, but can't see a way of doing it with video station.
I'm using Video Station and watched this video which was great, however, I have a TV Series with 12 episodes and I have them in a sub-folder in TV Shows and when I load it into Video Station, it only brings in one episode. I can't work out how to get them all uploaded? I guess what I'm trying to work out is can I have a folder for a TV show with sub-folders for Series which has multiple episodes within each sub-folder?
What setting is it to get the movie poster and other info? Thanks!

I cannot see the shared folder "video" in setup video station (timestamp 2:58). I check permissions very weird! I do see all of my other shared folders.
The entire video was about the video station And at the very end you recommended using Plex over video station but never said why
Agree. I think Video Station is better than Plex. Newly added movies are automatically detected and their metadata downloaded right way. Unlike Plex, each time I added a new movie or changed a movie name, Plex won't pick up these changes, file no longer playable and I need to run a scan or refresh, unlessI have been using it wrong
@@tomnguyen1015 theres an option to auto scan for changes unless your firmware didn't have it back then
I have a problem with ds station. I don't know how to delete the channels.
video station does not support many video standards make it next to useless due to licensing. Its easier to just share the folders at least it then works.

Thank you for this great video! How do you make it to have an upload speed with 100 mbit? My setup of the Synology comes with poor 5 mbit along. Any mahic trick? Looks amazingly fast ...

What's video station? An explanation of what this is would be great. I just bought a NAS and am figuring out how to set it up
Hi keep getting an error saying 'The operation failed. Please sign in to DSM and try again' when I try to remotely play a video after successfully signing in to DSM. Checked privileges and settings to be correct not sure why this is happening. Any ides?
Does it work on your local network or give you the same error? Are you trying to use the synology app?
@@TechCoreDuo hi thanks for your reply it doesn't work even when I'm logged into Synology locally. Using Synology Video station app logged into Synology as admin user who has full permissions. Same with the mobile phone app.
So you can stream movies from your home to your phone on public IP adress? Or is this working only in local network
Yup! Just download the video station app and you can stream from anywhere.

I had used plex prior to getting my synology disk station and I found that video station is very similar to plex insofar as the user interface is concerned. Why pay for a plex account when you can have the same experience in video station. As long as you have created user accounts and given them access to read and write to the folder, your friends and family can all enjoy watching your movie library without having to sign up for a plex account. Kudos to synology for offering plex as an alternative, but in my opiniion video station is just as good if not better.
DS Video does not transcode a playing video, unlike Plex, making some video unreadable by many smart TVs (like recent Samsung ones).

Depends on how you set up your Synology. Did you set it up with QuickID and HTTPS access?
Does Video Station support 7.1
I have not tested and do not know the answer, but I have seen that DTS and Atmos 7.1 is not supported.

Why use Video Station while it does not support EAC3 and DTS
Some people prefer the interface/application of Video Station. They like the fact that its a Synology application made for the device. I personally prefer Plex as I believe most do.
For EAC3 and DTS support - you have to use a old version of Video Station (
