@skatpak 2 My gran always served baked potatoes with butter and sour cream with her meatloaf! And that's a big yes on the meatloaf sandwiches the next day! I like mine sliced thin on white sandwich bread with mayo. Yum!

That's what I thought as well. Especially their first experience trying it should have been served the way most everyone eats it so they get the full experience. I have never seen anyone serve it by itself with ketchup and a drop of coriander. What a shame.

Meatloaf goes one of two ways. It's either great or you end up hating it. You never want to make it too dense or too dry
Ugh. Meatloaf is not like pizza. If it's bad, you will not want to eat it anyway that is for sure! Even the dog will say: what did you do to this poor animal? And yet good meatloaf is so delicious. I may need to make one.
That is so true. I have an absolutely amazing recipe for meatloaf. When we have guests I tell them I’m making meatloaf for dinner and they’ll often grimace but remain polite. But then they’ll eat it and say something like, “I was dreading it but this is great!”

Be an American Italian, just before it’s done cooking we take it out and put slices of cheese on top and a can of tomato sauce and pop it back in for a few minutes to melt the cheese. Whole different thing without gravy.

My dad made meatloaf hamburgers. Ground beef, cubed bread ,egg, minced onions, and seasonings. And then cooked like normal hamburgers. Good stuff.
Hi! I live in America in the mid west and we do use red peppers here. There is hot red peppers and there is sweet red bell peppers or mini bell peppers that we call sweet peppers. We love garlic, onions, salt, black pepper, green and red bell peppers in our meat loaf and ate that for dinner 2 days ago with mashed potatoes and mixed roasted veggies . 😊

Loaf is a word to describe the shape in which the meat is formed and baked in.

I'd love to see a little cooking class where these gentlemen learn how to make some of the foods they've enjoyed. Meatloaf is one of those dishes that don't require anything they would have difficulty finding in rural Pakistan. They can use any bread for the breadcrumbs, including the flatbreads they normally eat.

Meatloaf is tasty. I made meatloaf once. Instead of making the mixture into a loaf, I made it into patties. I had them like regular hamburgers. Everyone liked them.
That's how hamburgers are made in Canada they call it a homeburger.
We shaped them like little oval patties, served em with onion gravy and called them "hamburger steaks"
I sometimes just make patties.

You have made me hungry for some meatloaf now, even though I have homemade chili cooking on the stove during a winter storm right now. 😂
I still do what my dad did it would freeze chili after he made it in ice trays and then pop them out and put them in bags and then pull out a couple whenever he would want a bowl of chili. I still do it to this day.
Not to brag, but they would love my homemade meat loaf with mashed taters, gravy and all the other sides I make with it. All from scratch. My husband's Irish and he literally would have tears in his eyes while enjoying all of it. That made it worth all the time in the kitchen for me! I love these videos!

I make meatloaf with dried bread crumbs or saltines, green peppers, onions, egg, salt, pepper, sometimes a little Worcestershire and a little tomato sauce mixed all together, then top it with tomato sauce. I never use ketchup. Mashed potatoes and a vegetable are must haves with it. Meatloaf sandwiches are next day favorite!
I add Italian seasoning as well and a little cinnamon...topped with rotel

It's 2023, now you can just get a McCormick meatloaf seasoning pack... add your diced green peppers and diced onions with the egg, worstercher sauce and crackers AND ITS SOOOO GOOD... Make your gravy for the top and you're good No ketchup or tomato sauce though 🤢

Meatloaf is (generally) always accompanied with a nice heaping amount of mash potatoes, topped with gravy (though I am not much of a meatloaf fan)! 😄

I wonder what their cook used as the filler. Our traditional filler was crushed saltines, but I've eaten it from someone who used crushed cornflakes. I've resorted to using dry oatmeal. Add the 1 egg, worchestershire, a bit of salt & black pepper. Haven't made it for awhile, but just bought hamburger so this is a reminder that I could make a loaf pan of meatloaf...very timely episode today!
I grew up with my Mom making it with oatmeal & that's generally how I still make it. 😁
My mom made it with saltines as well. She still does. I tried it using bread crumbs once. It was good but was denser.
Wife says she made it one time using vanilla wafer ice cream cones crushed up.

@@robclark3095 I hate being in the kitchen, so resorted to oatmeal to also add a bit of bulk, but, was easier to just throw in handful s of oatmeal instead of taking the time to crush the crackers!
Explain a Meat Loaf Sandwich to them.
Just a note, the loaf comes from the pan it's normally baked in, as in a loaf of bread. My mother always used a combo of rice and oats as the binder, IMHO it works best.
My dad used rolled oats when there were no bread crumbs.He made them from homemade bread that got too dry or leftover rolls,he disliked the canned ones.
My mom used 'quick oats' which isn't instant but isn't regular (long cooking).

mix very lean hamburger with club house meatloaf seasoning, lots of it, otherwise its very greasy n not great, eat with ketchup n onions n potatoes.

meatloaf has to be served as a sandwich if you are eating alone (usually the leftovers the next day). meatloaf with roast potatoes or mashed potatoes if for family/guests, and definitely gravy and a side of greens.

Not a fan of ketchup on meatloaf either. Bacon is wonderful cooked on it though. I know that these gentlemen can't eat pork due to their religion but they can have other types of bacon. I ave to watch my salt intake but all the other ingredients you listed are wonderful in a meatloaf. Definitely mashed potatoes with gravy and gray on the meatloaf too!

Did you know we also had a singer here called Meatloaf? lol I like my meatloaf with potatoe salad, macaroni salad, and coleslaw. Pickles and a hunk of cheese. or loaded lettuce salad with broccoli, cauliflower, cheese, onion, peppers, jalepeno and bacon.
I see by it its not as moist as what I make. I use onions, green peppers, mushrooms, raw eggs, garlic, salt and pepper and most important sage. I would not recommend bread crumbs. And make my own ketchup sauce recipe to coat the top prior to cooking. The trick is to make small complete meat loaf oval shaped stand alone loafs. Stays moist and would not look like a dry brick as these do. I have won cook offs with my meatloaf. My meatloaf would blow these guys mind.
Meatloaf can be served three ways. Meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy. Meatloaf with shells and cheese or as a sandwich. Also it's good with or without BBQ sauce.

Not correct as this channel needs to address the various 2, 3, 4 side dishes served with most meals.
The men frequently state that what they are served will not fill them up. If they are made aware of the numerous side dishes available..then they would know of a complete, healthy, filling meal for them.
Make these guys some Banana Bread or Zucchini Bread. Then, if your chef/baker is up to the challenge, make them some fresh toasted Bagels with Cream Cheese.
You should explain why things are called whatever they are called. This is called «Meat Loaf» because it is meat shaped like a loaf of bread! :)
Us has sizes of pans or container to create the Loaf shape. Similar to cake mixes that are baked in a loaf pan, or round cake pans. You may show photos of US cookware pans, skillets, cake pans variety is sizes, shapes!
As many has said, meat loaf is usually served with mashed potatoes and gravy with a vegetable, and a dinner roll. And never that big of a slice. And of course, leftover meat loaf sandwiches with a little barbecue sauce.
I can't get enough of watching these guys try different things that I'm so used to that I take it for granted. It's a pleasure for me to watch them enjoy new food and experiences!
Meatloaf is indeed most commonly served with ketchup but I prefer it with brown gravy atop mashed potatoes.
My mother in law adds buttermilk to the pankos breading for moistness and I love it! Mashed potatoes with a brown gravy is required for this dish!

I just made meatloaf for dinner last night! Lol. It's called Meat Loaf because it is baked in a loaf pan, like bread is cooked in. It should have garlic in it. Salt, black pepper, Worsteshire sauce, ketchup, garlic, onion, bread crumbs (my preference) or saltines or oats, and an egg all mixed together and formed into a loaf. It's quick, easy, and a delicious comfort food.
I use my homemade Worcestershire sauce, which is a bit thick and not runny like most, and because I can't eat tomatoes, I add hoisin sauce and sometimes a little soy sauce
Love meatloaf with oatmeal because it makes the texture nice and grainy. Makes for great sandwiches on multigrain bread (which my friend calls rock & twig bread). 😂

And to the guy that liked it as a burger, meatloaf sandwiches are also top tier.
Serve a side to go with the meat. Mashed potatoes, rice or something and a drink to wash it down! Don't make them choke down food without a drink. At least some water.
You needed to serve with gravy and mashed potatoes, corn, or mixed vegetables to complete the experience.

No mint leaves. My father used fresh mint leaves, I prefer it without mint.
It surprises me how all 4 men tend to prefer mildly spiced dishes. None of them seem to go for very hot n spicey things with lots of chillies.
Its fine to eat when mixed with club house meat loaf seasoning, ketchup and plenty of onions. i put that powder in all sorts of things, its delicious! same with knorr dry soup mix, yum!

Glad they like it but it really needs a sweet tomato/ketchup type sauce. With mashed potatoes is the best.
I like mine with Heinz Chili Sauce, but they may not have that available.

Meatloaf...every kids most belived or hated meal..that Mom used to make. (Depending on whether or not she burnt it lmao) meatloaf is a very simple yet wholesome meal. Pretty much every family in America has made it at one point or another. And each method of making meatloaf is as different as that household. It's why you can sample meatloaf from 50 different people and every one will be different. But none the less it is a classic beloved dish.

Meatloaf in the US is always eaten with potatoes and gravy, some type of vegetable or salad. This makes a full meal. If you use a little stale bread soaked in milk then put in meat with onions and bellpepper with the spices ,you enjoy as a family, then you can make it your own.
Oh forgot the egg too. And you can use crackers too soaked in a little milk. This way it doesn't make it too dry.
We live in North East of the USA. We eat meat loaf with either creamy mashed potatoes or a macaroni and cheese casserole. Also vegetables on the side.
Leftover meatloaf is sliced thin and served cold as a sandwich on bread with mayonnaise and ketchup. If you want it warmed. Slice fry in a pan until browned. Then make your sandwich. Yummy

When I was growing meatloaf was a monthly dish. Being from the US south it had ground beef, ground pork, bread crumbs, onions, celery and ketchup mixed into a loaf. Topped with bacon strips and ketchup, then baked. As pork is taboo to them, you did not use pork in your meatloaf.
I only use bacon on turkey loaf,but it definitely needs that.

We did not have meatloaf at home. So, as a kid, I only knew it as an all-too-frequent school lunch. It was an unnatural gray color, and bone dry, with a smear of salty brown gravy or ketchup. It was served with insipid rice or suspiciously “instant” mashed potatoes. When I was in university and living on my own, I developed an interest in cooking. I discovered that a meatloaf, properly made, could be delicious and satisfying. It also makes a delicious sandwich the next day.
Some people use regular bread crumb, some people use corn bread crumbs. The key, is the ground meat, which can have any number of sources. I prefer ground beef when making meatloaf. Everyone has their own way of making it, but there are three ingredients that one must use to make it work correctly. You need the meat, a binder like egg, and a starch for the binder to hold on to like flour, bread crumbs, or even just plain corn starch. Most people I live around use onion and green bell pepper as well as black pepper, salt, and garlic. Once the loaf is fully cooked, you cover the top in ketchup and put in the oven to give the sauce a crust based upon your tastes. I like black tips on my crust.
I've even seen someone use leftover mashed potatoes instead of bread crumb. He then sliced it after it was baked, and seared it on both sides before topping it with a homemade tomato basil balsamic ketchup. I was left blown away. The fanciest meat loaf I had ever tried.

Meatloaf is like spaghetti sauce ... no two are the same! And I never order either from a restaurant! It needs a potato, vegetable and a bread. I grew up with meatloaf with tomato sauce topping but I make mine with a beef sauce topping and pour mushroom gravy over everything! It's delicious!! ♥️👍😁
I've never heard of a restaurant serving meatloaf. Spaghetti, yes, but no meatloaf.
