- So, Elephant Mario in Super Mario Bros Wonder, huh? What's the deal with that? Let's talk about it.
Specifically, let's talk about why this happened. Mario Wonder director Shiro Mouri has explained exactly why the developers at Nintendo decided to put this particular power-up in the game.
The reason: because it makes the game easier. Cool.
But wait, there's more: did you know that Shigeru Miyamoto hated the original design of Elephant Mario?

Oh well, at least the video's short, right? If this was a different channel the video would be exactly eight minutes and one second long, and would feature a load of footage from trailers and no real substance.

Basically, the Elephant is an evolution to the Super Mushroom, since both were designed to make Mario bigger, thus making it a little easier to grab coins and hit higher blocks.

The evolution of the super mushroom is the MEGA MUSHROOM an item which is literally in the game since New Mario bros DS... how are you that moronic to say its the evolution while the mushroom just makes him bigger and the apple AN ELEPHANT. Easy. Elephants are amazing animals. They're smart, strong, big, majestic, and have that unique trunk that's useful for plenty of situations. Not to mention, they're quite adorable as calves. There's a reason why elephants are among one of the most iconic animals in both history and pop culture as well as many countries such as Thailand and India where elephants are heavily admired. 🐘
I don't care what everyone says, i actually like the elephants. They remind a lot of old Disney films like Fantasia.

This process of outlining what the character has to do during gameplay beforehand is basically how they arrived at the concept of squid-kid hybrids of Splatoon... And it was also a great success.

Elephants are in Wonder because they want to make us FEEL wonder again - like we did with Mario 3. The delay in bringing Mario 3 to the west was massive, and the hype was bonkers - there was a rumor about Mario having a laser gun. And the game DELIVERED! Mario could grow a raccoon tail and use it to FLY!
You should make a video regarding Tomb Raider Collection being on the Switch!

Yeah I didn't think "why...?" upon seeing it for the same reason I havent thought "why" about any of the other Mario power-ups for years. Mushrooms that make Mario grow? Flowers that make him throw fire? Racoon suit that allows him to fly? I don't understand what's so surprising about an elephant
It’s because he straight up becomes an elephant. No suit shenanigans at all. Sure, Odyssey exists, but this is 2D Mario, and an elephant sounds kinda niche on paper. It was a crazy surprise.
