I’m so glad you included Valkyria Chronicles II in this showcase. That’s the primary game I was looking to play on one of these handhelds (this one in particular, as recommended by a friend of mine). I’m sold. Lol.
It's such a great game! It is pretty easy to emulate so almost any handheld that can run PSP games will be able to play it and the RG35XX H is a great choice for it.
Are there PS2 games before that where ported to PSP that can be played on handheld retro game console such as RG35XX H? Since unfortunately, it seems like that Anbernic can accomodate a PS2 emulator.
There are some psp ported games that are playable but they are obviously lowered for the psp. And mind you not all psp games are playable so things like force unleashed is not playable. If you want an anbernic that is capable of PS2 then check out the anbernic rg556 or rg405. The 405 can play some PS2 and the 556 can play most ps2
Is there a button to save the general settings in PPSSPP? It always resets once i load the game back up. Im kinda new to all this so forgive me if that's a newbie question
What kind of settings are you changing? If you mean graphics settings then you can save both general settings and per game settings. Any change you make will make a change for all games unless you use the "create game settings" option first. If you create game settings then any change will only affect that game until you "delete game settings" which then reverts back to the general settings
@@RetroHandheldGuides i thought I was changing the overall setting for PPSSPP. I'll have to take a look again of what exactly I did. Highly appreciate the response tho
@@RetroHandheldGuides oh, yeah lol didn't realize we're on different os's, thanks for the reply and thanks to this vid, imma load up some psp games on my H as they run decently from what i see
PPSSPP is free. The "pro" version (gold) is just a paid donation. There is no difference between the regular version included in stock and the gold version
@@RetroHandheldGuides I think I saw more performance settings in the demo for the pro version, which I think could be very useful for a console with this much power. But, unfortunately, I don’t understand firmware and all that stuff at all(
It's likely that you just have an older version of PPSSPP. You would need to update the firmware to get a newer version. It's not as scary as it seems. Check out rg35xx h custom firmware and install guide video. I tried to make it as easy as possible to show you how to update the firmware or change it
Has anyone tried to see how hajime no ippo victorious spirits plays? any feed back would be appreciated since I just ordered mine and thanks this was a great informative vid
Ok, so I've done a bunch of testing of Saturn games in the various CFW available and it's just not going to be worth it. 90% of the games that I tried do not run at full speed and those that managed to be playable at all still had some stuttering in more intense areas. So, unfortunately, Saturn is a no-go on this device.
download cheats.db from github.com/Saramagrean/CWCheat-Database-Plus- copy this cheats.db file to the PPSSPP Cheats folder on your SD card. Depending which firmware you are using, this will be different for each. Generally it's somewhere in a PSP folder then PPSSPP/PSP/Cheats. You'll know you are in the right folder if you see a bunch of other ini files in it
The plus and the h come with the same stock os games. The games in this video I found myself so it's not likely that every game here will come with the SD card when you buy it. The plus and the h have the same performance so anything that works in this video should work the same in the plus with the exception of the joystick
@@RetroHandheldGuides thanks for the info, I have the plus version it comes with the 64gb card, but I can't find the games you showed. Thank you for sharing it anyway.
I believe that the PPSSPP on stock is not the latest and therefore does not support chd yet. Chd support is quite new for the PPSSPP emulator so you'll be better off with iso for compatibility
check out my guide: retrohandheldguides.com/rg35xx-h-starter-guide/ i've updated it with information on where to find, and how to use PPSSPP cheats on the RG35XX H
I haven't tried it on this device but I'll do some testing with Saturn and maybe make a video about my results if there is anything at all that is playable. Here are the joystick caps I'm using. Skull and Co Switch FPS joystick covers (affiliate link): amzn.to/3HILyaX
Anbernic is getting better with providing SD cards that aren't terrible. It should last a while but you should consider getting a higher quality one at some point depending on how often you use the device. If there is no name on the SD card when you take it out then consider getting a new one.
Portmaster is not available currently for this device. The dev working on muos has said they might try to bring it to this device in the future but I wouldn't expect it anytime soon if it does happen
If you already have a 128gb card from a compatible device like the Rg35xx plus or H then you could just purchase the device without the extra SD card and use your existing one.
The only handhelds that could play those games would have to be switch capable. Something like the retroid pocket 4 pro or anbernic rg556 could play those games
I tried it on batocera which has about the same performance as stock os. Never played it before but I tried the first few battles and it worked quite well. A few minor stutters but mostly full speed without frameskip.

Thanks! This will help. I was about to write off playing PSP games.
Definitely don't write it off! While it doesn't play everything, there are some really great titles worth exploring on this device
Thanks! This really helped out a lot. How well do you think Persona 3 Portable would perform on this device?
Yes. P3P is pretty easy to emulate from what I've played so this device should have no problem

This console have a terrible aspect ratio for PSP, better stick with things it could display better, like Gameboy,
GBA, N64, PS1, some lite DS.
