The retroid pocket mini is easily capable of handling pretty much any Gamecube game at 2x resolution even on just the Performance (medium) setting for the device. This is probably the smallest device yet that can play Gamecube games and it can do so with ease.

Overall, the RG Cube is capable of emulating some of the Wii library though many games will not be playable as it is a stretch for this device. In this video, I take a look at Gamecube emulation on the Anbernic RG Cube. Overall, the RG Cube is capable of emulating most of the Gamecube library at 1x resolution without any tweaking. Some games may require the use of a feature in Dolphin called "VBI Skip" which is a bit like frameskip, allowing the emulator to drop frames in order to keep the game running at full speed. Anyone has sound troubles with this? It's stuttering
I'm on R36S by the way
Have you tested Donkey Kong 64? Thanks!
Sorry to bother with many comments, can you shows your vita3k settings?
Can someone please help me im such an idiot i deleted my sd card by accident and i wiped all the games from my triumu smart pro 😤
does the device get hot when playing dreamcast?
It does warm up a bit but I didn't notice it getting "hot"
is this the strongest verison of handled console ? seen some that look the same, but diffrent name
There are a few vertical handhelds with a very similar design. The r36s is one of the weakest but also cheapest versions. If you want the exact same design but stronger chip then the Anbernic rg353v is probably the closest in terms of size and form factor. For similar form factor and size but slightly more powerful, look at the Anbernic rg40xx v For much more powerful but Android, Anbernic rg405v but this is also bigger in size
@ thanks very big !
Can anyone point me to a tutorial for the installation of the emulator onto this. I have the RG Cube XX and it does not come with Aether / Nether installed - I cannot figure it out and don't want to brick my new machine haha.
RG Cube XX doesn't support PS2 emulators
Question, if you run mods on your PC edition of the game, are you able to port those over as well? Or if you're streaming using moonlight, will it display the visual mods from the pc?
Mods don't port to postmaster but if you stream via moonlight it will show whatever your PC shows
With the chip scandal and downgraded cpu, If you were to compare this with the trimui smart pro (similar price point) which would be your pick?
TrimUI smart pro is much more powerful than this device. The only advantage to this device is that it is mini and very pocketable. Rocknix is now available for this device as well and I prefer it over crossmix
rg28xx can hdmi out ?
HDMI out does not work properly with muos but it is available with stock os
Come si fa a metterlo a tutto schermo?? Io vedo entrambi gli schermi Nintendo piccolissimi
Will this same method work with TrimUI?
My R36S doesn't even load any of the NDS games, is there anything that I need to do to make it work? Do I need to get a specific BIOS? put it in a specific folder?
The roms need to go into the NDS folder... Other than that it should just work
How do you access share on a Mac?
how do i place Drastic on my r36s??
Should already be installed, you just need to add roms to NDS folder
Thank you for the video. What is the device mode: normal, performance, high performance?
Performance mode (middle setting)
@@RetroHandheldGuidesthank you!!
How to make 2x resolution ?
Can u help me pls ? I see only a 1x and below options 🤔
Interesting looking emulator
It's the Anbernic RG Cube. 1:1 aspect ratio screen
@@RetroHandheldGuides is it worth buying this handheld?
The T820 line of devices from Anbernic are pretty good at running up to PS2/GC/Wii and at a decent price. This lineup includes RG Cube (1:1), rg556 (16:9), Rg406 V (4:3 vertical layout) and the newly announced rg406 h (4:3 horizontal layout). The performance is the same on each but they have different layouts and form factors. If you want to see some performance benchmarks then checkout my RG Cube and rg556 videos. Overall I would say they are good devices, but for a few extra dollars you could go with a retroid pocket 4 or 5 (or mini) for better performance and build quality. In terms of ergonomics, I prefer the Anbernic devices because of the joystick layout and they just feel better in hand but the retroid build quality feels better and more premium
which core r u ussing for pokemon stadium? parallel? mupen? and which plugin? bc rice have some graphical glitches on menu and portraits of pokemon and gln64 is a little bit slower compared with rice (both under parallel)
Can you please try GTA chinatown wars
Doesn't work well. The car jack mechanic requires a joystick
It doesn't do anything when I click the right thumb stick
Depends on the firmware.. settings might be under r2 or l2 trigger or the function button in the middle
Aby advice i have all the time loading on screen becouse cheking games use dualshock and nothing helps i remove card and put on works after reset is the same idn what to do pls help idn to reset to fabric or what
Sounds like a firmware issue. If you remove the SD card and the device still doesn't boot then you need to reflash the firmware. github.com/trimui/firmware_smartpro/releases/tag/v1.0.4-20230413-hotfix Download SD recovery from the assets and flash it to a brand new blank SD card formatted as FAT32. Put the new SD card into the device and start it up and you should get a green loading bar. Once that finishes it will go to the main menu at which point you can put your original SD card back into the device with your games
bought mine 3 days ago, already got all the games im going to play on a folder, just waiting for it to arive, also, is it possible to turn the ds screen by 90degrees ?
Have you tried scraping?
What budget friendly handheld would you recommend for DK64 as well as N64 in general. Secondary question, which would you recommend for ps2? I dont want a steam deck. Im not tech savvy in the slightest bit either. The whole cores, different emulator settings, arkos (whatever that is) i have zero clue about. Im not much intrested in learning how to do things myself either. My electronics hate me and I dont fuck with them. Id be libel to start a war in a 3rd world country trying to mess with shit.
N64 is kind of hard to handle "out of the box" for Linux handhelds but Android handhelds are also harder to set up and not quite as plug and play as Linux. Ultimately the handheld emulator scene imo is for tinkerers and not ideal if you are technophobic. If I had to recommend a budget friendly N64 emulator that requires the least setup, it would be the retroid pocket 2s. Android based and fairly cheap but can play any N64 without tweaking settings. For PS2 and GameCube, i would recommend the RP Mini or RP5. The RP4 and Anbernic RG Cube/Rg556/Rg406v or h can handle "most" PS2 and GC as well
If your America then Retroid Pocket 2S is the go to I hear.
Great
What about Skies of Arcadia?
Is there a special way to add N64 games ? I tired to add 007 and couple times and I refreshed it but still doesn't show up
I no want it, i NEEED THIS
How do you manage to make the ds games look so clean and without those ugly kind of pixels? Great video
In drastic you can enable Hi-Res models which renders the models much cleaner but it also requires more resources and might make some games run slow
@@RetroHandheldGuides thank you
How do you make the system sd card read the roms on the 'other' sd card?
Which firmware?
@ I guess the one featured in the vid and onwards… The video only shows how to install the cf, bios and roms on the same card.
Muos automatically picks up a second SD card. Put the ROMs in any folders that you want. For knulli, you need a second SD with a specific ROM folder structure which can be copied from the ROMs folder on SD1. Then in system setting, pick games folder as external card and it should read from sd2
CrossMix OS has made the TSP what it is today: The best low-budget handheld!!!
Getting this for Christmas
im surprised to see shadow of the colossus running so well, is that at 1x resolution?
Yes, 1x
Hello, please how to add n64 emulator to this console?
It's already installed. You just need to add N64 ROMs to the n64 ROM folder on the SD card
@ okay, thank you very much
How did you get these to run so smoothly?
Wow this really surprised me! Thought psp emulation was pretty much a no go, but that doesnt seem to be the case. Gonna get some lightweight & short games (& maybe some rpgs, who knows) that I wouldnt wanna play on my pc handheld. Thanks for the vid
Any reason you are only using OpenGL? I understand it results in more accurate emulation, but Vulkan could get a bit better performance. I notices on Rogue Squadron 2 there were dips to the 30's FPS when a tower explodes.
Vulkan does perform better on some games. I stuck with OpenGL mostly because it has better overall compatibility for GC than Vulkan and I wanted to showcase more the "no tweaking" performance. It is definitely possible to mess with settings to get even better performance on some games
@@RetroHandheldGuides Ah cool that is what I thought but I wanted to verify. Mine is at my mailing address waiting to be shipped to my current location. Been a while, had a Retroid Pocket 2, but was disappointed in the N64 performance (taki had been talking it up). Ended up getting the 2+ upgrade which I was very happy with but decided to wait for good GC emulation before upgrading again. Looks like the Mini was spot on for what I wanted (good PS2 is a huge bonus as well)
How well does pokemmo look ? Is the text too small?
Can you play killzone mercenary and uncharted??
Why no maio sunshine? Been running this on retroid mini on Dolphin handheld and the FPS are horrible as soon as I check the map
This is the game i wanna play ▶️
Mario sunshine runs fine on my 2S, totally a setting problem.
Hi! Tatsunoko vs capcom doesn't work well, like F zero wii. Do you know how to fix it?
Does it run monster hunter freedom unite?
Yes. MHFU is actually pretty easy to emulate so most consoles capable of at least some PSP emulation should be able to handle it
Which dolphin do you use?
Dolphin official latest development build
Thanks man

hey thanks for the great video, do you know what emulator the devices uses in the stock firmware?
