    Just a few comments regarding your video. Overall very good. However, the national electric code for receptacle installation is 18” min up to 5’ xx”. I forget the exact max value. There are additional requirements if your garage is underground etc. So you would fail inspection on that. I have the 2018 version of your box the cables are 12” and 24’ . Also, it’s best to keep your length from the receptacle to your circuit breaker box as short as possible. In my case I have a sub box in my garage. My cable length from the 50 amp breaker to the NEMA 14-50R is less than 36”. Six (6) gauge wire is bitch working with, I suggest if you never wired before think twice. Also, use a metal box with an extender and use screws on every mounting hole. Not many people have plywood behind their sheet rock. I removed a section of sheet rock below the breaker panel and added additional studs for the outlet box. Regarding the juice box mounting a 1 x 2 or 3 should work if you don’t want to remove sheet rock. You were correct about the breaker size 50 amps is required for a 40 amp load.

    Also do you know if charging history data is stored in the Juicebox or just in the phone or the cloud?

    Thanks for the look at the JuiceBox, did the direct web connection to the unit require any form of authentication to get in? If not, that seems like a HUGE hole...

    Question for ya...do you know if this actually needs internet? What if I connected it wireless lan that wasn't connected to internet. The reason I ask is because I'm considering purchasing 2 juicebox pros for their load sharing feature. 2 devices can split the Max load in hald but supposedly requires a connection between the two. Don't know if that connection requires the internet or can be achieved simply via wireless lan.

    after using my juice box 40 amp I can't get the cable disconnected from the car...I have an ID.4 and used the key fob and nothing works unless I pull the yellow disconnect cord...any ideas

    Thanks for the great video. Unfortunately, I'm unable to install my Juicebox Pro close to my 14-50 outlet box like you show in the video. I need to install it 20 feet away from my 14-50 outlet box using an extension cable. Do you think this extra distance may harm my JuiceBox in any way? Evenmore, do you think it may harm my Chevy Bolt if the electricity is traveling the extra length of a 20 foot extension cable?

      @Solkre82 5 років тому

      No but you better be damn sure the extension cord is rated for what you're doing. It's not going to be cheap, and it is going to be heavy.

    8:55 is that the temperature in the vehicle's battery, or more likely, the temperature of the Juicebox? I didn't know J1772 could communicate battery temp data.

    • @danwat1234
      @danwat1234 5 років тому

      @@rangerbrown I have confirmed that temperature reading is just a sensor within the Juicebox, which might as well serve pretty much as the weather report in your garage because the unit itself doesn't generate much heat ever.

    We have the older style Juice Box Pro, it's silver colored. It charges the EV very quickly but I can't recommend the company. We needed a new WiFi antenna for it and contacted the company several times but could never get a replacement. Their store doesn't sell it either. As a result we can't use any of the 'Pro' features. Good charger bad customer service. 😡

      @@Solkre82 do you find that your juice box requires a very strong Wi-Fi connection, otherwise it tends to go offline? My router is literally about 20 feet from the juice box with one wall in between and once a week or so I get an email saying it went offline

      @@danwat1234 I've had no connection issues with my Pro40. It's relatively close to my Acces Point; which is a Unifi AP-AC-Pro. I've never had it go offline except one power outage.

    Hey! So I am little lost on the 50amp circuit vs the 40amp charger... Does that mean I need to downgrade my circuit breaker to 40amps?

    • @buildBaseline78
      @buildBaseline78 6 років тому +2

      No, you don't need to. The 40 amp reference is related to the "80%" rule: if you have a 50 amp circuit, then you should limit a continuous load to 80% of that = 40 amps. You might find it interesting to read up on electricity basics and learn a little about voltage vs current, etc. A 50 amp circuit means it's rated to handle a MAX of 50 amps (the current), above which the breaker should trip and stop the flow of current for safety reasons. It's absolutely no problem to run less current on a 50 amp circuit, e.g. 40 amps or less. This is true on your 15 amp house circuits as well: charging your phone from an outlet isn't even exceeding 1 amp on the AC side; think of breaker's amp rating as an upper limit.

    • @chrisd4432
      @chrisd4432 5 років тому +2

      Actually you're better off with the 50amp circuit breaker. You can plug a 40amp device into a 50amp circuit but not vice versa as the breaker would ( hopefully ) trip.

    What is the lowest amp setting you can go when charging on 240V?

    • @russg9406
      @russg9406 7 років тому +2

      so these things are actually relays, the actual charger is on the car. The answer would be in your manual. BMW does not openly discuss this but it has been reported that you can set to draw down to 20 amp for a level 2 32 amp charger.

    Just came across today to your 2012 post on SPCR forum about the insanely low idle power for Ivy Bridge and Intel DH77EB you have, as low as 13W.
    I have a similar build Intel DB75EN & 3470 for as low as 12.4 W. Thought nobody would believe me. Even on SPCR forum there are some that suspect me for not getting the right readings, to say the least. What heppened to silentpcreview.com , as many month passed and nothing new was posted?
    I subscribed to your channel and love to see what you have to share next.

    My juice box 40 pro lasted for 2 hours before it had the 3 flashing lights and constantly restarting error
    I replaced it with a charger point 40 amp lvl 2 station
    It doesn’t have the WiFi features but it does charge my 2017 volt in 3 hours from 0 to 53 miles range
    With out any problems
    FYI they do not have a 3 year warranty it’s a 30 day replacement / refund warranty
    Read the fine print 😡😡😡🤬🤬🤬
