Jeff is the guitar inovater of all time. His early bands wanted to wait for a sitar player Jeff said why wait i can make my gitar do those sounds. He didn't stop with that,he kept being inventive. He can play other peoples styles other people can't match his styles.

Rod Stewart is one of my favorite singers ever. I even like his disco stuff. I just remember growing up as a kid and hearing him on the radio all the time. Then as I got older, I went back and listen to his stuff with Jeff Beck, The Faces and his early solo stuff. Became a life long fan after that.

Jeff Beck in the 60s was in what you could truly say was one of the first Supergroups.. Touting 3 guitar legends as members Clapton Beck and Page. The last 2 were actually in the band at the same time

The Jeff Beck band, was the first concert i saw in my German hometown. That is Ronnie Wood on bass btw, pre Faces & Rolling Stones. If you get the chance, have a listen to 'Beck's Bolero,' a masterpiece. Btw, Jeff's former bandmate Kim Gardner (they grew up across the street from each other) and wife Paula opened the famed expat musicians home away from home, the "Cat & Fiddle Pub' in the original Laurel Canyon Village Store, later on Sunset, and more recent on Highland in Hollywood. R.I.P. Jeff Beck, unlike some of his guitar contemporaries who seem to be cruising for decades, Jeff never stopped experimenting and advancing. Good guy, who left us far too soon. He was a tremendous gearhead too. Many years later, through my buddy Terry Reid, I got to meet many of my childhood heroes, and in the late 90's Terry was invited to sing 'People get Ready,' by Jeff. Terry Reid is one the the greatest Brit vocalist, many people never heard of, musicians are his fans.

Wonderful reunion of one of rock's best guitarists and one of rock's best vocalists. As noted below, they were part of The Jeff Back Group and their album Truth, sometimes called the birth of heavy metal, is required listening for any student of guitar. Check out the cuts Shapes of Things, Let Me Love You, I Ain't Superstitious, and the jaw dropping cover of Ol' Man River. Great great stuff.

The one regret Jeff always had was not making more music with Rod. If you can find, the Rockumentary - Jeff Beck; Still on the Run is amazing. It really highlights how good he was with opinions from Erc Clapton, Slash, David Gilmore, and Jennifer Batton.

Beck called upon Stewart in 1967 to join his post-Yardbirds project as a singer and occasional songwriter. Stewart participated in the albums Truth (1968) and Beck-Ola (1969),The decades passed, but the magic was still there. In 1985, the pair reunited on “People Get Ready"

Ahh, too 80s! I really like The Chambers Brothers version of this song and didn't realize Curtis Mayfield and The Impressions did this first. The Jeff Beck / Rod Stewart collaboration to check out is maybe "I Ain't Superstitious" from the Truth album. Also a cover -- in that case covering Howlin Wolf. But the best Rod Stewart stuff is his work with The Faces -- one of the best bands of the early 70s. Check out "Stay With Me" or "Miss Judy's Farm" for some awesome, swampy rock.

Jeff was on another level of guitar playing. Rod's early music was his best, imo. His stuff with Jeff Beck Group on the album "Truth" and with the Faces on the album "First Step", two of the best. Agree that you should do Jeff's "Cause We've Ended As Lovers", a Stevie Wonder song, and "Bolero" with members of The Who and Led Zeppelin.

Just discovered you guys tonight and have already listened to 4 of your reactions. You are doing a great job and playing the music I grew up with and love. Thank you. This video was just beautiful. Watching this and another reaction to "Black Coffee" by Humble Pie reminds me to recommend you take a listen to the band Small Faces. They were a very hot but short lived (3 yrs) British band, which were Critically acclaimed, very popular in Europe (Never in the US except 1 song - Itchicoo Park) and were very influential to later bands. In 1969, singer/guitarist Steve Marriott quit the SF's to form his own band - Humble Pie. The remaining 3 members of SF added Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood who had just quit the Jeff Beck Group to replace Steve. I think this period when Rod sang more bluesy with Jeff and the Faces was his best era. Small Faces family tree expanded into other well known bands.
Rod, of course went solo after the Faces split up as did Steve Marriott when Humble Pie split. Guitarist Ronnie Wood and Keyboard player Ian McLagan joined the Rolling Stones, and drummer Kenney Jones replaced Keith Moon in the Who after Keith died. Bassist/songwriter Ronnie Lane continued on solo or with his band Slim Chance, but within 10 years was diagnosed with MS and sadly died after a long drawn out decline in1997. Steve Marriott died in a house fire at aged 44 in 1991.
Small Faces best known song was "Tin Soldier", but I really love their early R&B hits like "Whatcha Gonna Do About It", "You need Lovin" (which Zeppelin covered in "Whole Lotta Love", or "All or Nothing". Marriott was highly regarded by his peers and was considered by many to be the greatest soul/rock singer in Great Britain. VERY soulful.

Rod Stewart, along with Ronnie Wood (Faces & Rolling Stones) was in the original Jeff Beck band that did the first two albums (both are classics). Jeff's first 5 albums would have cemented his guitar greatest alone, thank God he gave us even more to enjoy. I have always liked "People Get Ready" and The Chambers Brothers also do a stellar cover of Curtis Mayfield tune (originally done with the Impressions), as do "The Staple Singers" (Marvis on any tune is special) and "Paul Carrack". It's hard to keep a good song down.

You guys NEED TO LISTEN to the Jeff Beck album BECKOLA! It's the second album with Rod Stewart and Jeff Beck. I saw them play it live in LA when I was 19. It made my hair on the back of my neck stand up! The bass player is Ron Wood who is now with the Rolling Stones. This was the most powerful performance I have ever witnessed. The whole album is in your face Rock except for "Girl from Mill Valley!" which is by the piano player Nicky Hopkins also played with everybody and the Rolling Stones. Plynth (Water down the drain) Rice Pudding, Hangman are all what it was about. I have seen all the classic performers and this still stands out as one of the best. The first album called "Truth" also Jeff Beck and Rod Stewart and is another "Gotta Listen to" ! Rock my Plimsoul, Ain"t Superstitious are classics. Do yourself a favor and check the Beckola and Truth albums out. You will hear Jeff Beck's style like no one else. I will be looking for your reaction videos!

Great song guys. Regarding superstar guitar player Jeff Beck, I think his best album is Blow By Blow (1975). It's right up your alley :ie. jazz/fusion, hard Rhodes keys, (super) funk and some wonderful blues. Also great piano on the Thelonious tribute and a excellent version of the Stevie Wonder song 'Cause We Ended As Lovers' which I would describe as perfect. The album is all instrumental with top notch players. Of course the guitarist is a legend. It's a great album. I don't usually gush..but. Enjoying your reactions. Later...

Jeff Beck might be my #1 favorite, and I've been in a sad funk ever since his passing. This is a great song, but I think there are many better. For his early rockers, I'd recommend I Ain't Superstitious from the first album Truth, and Goin' Down from the Jeff Beck Group (orange) album. Probably the closest he has to signature tunes are Cause We've Ended as Lovers (great live version from Ronnie Scott's featuring the great Tal Wilkenfeld, but original studio version is beautiful too) and Where Were You (also great live version on Ronnie Scott's). The song Goodbye Pork Pie Hat from Blow by Blow is all time peak classic Beck. He also did a lot of heavy instrumentals in last half of his career, maybe Big Block, Dirty Mind, Earthquake, Trouble Man are good samples of that? I don't know what the go to heavy late period Beck song is.

Jeff Beck formed Jeff Beck Group after leaving the Yardbirds. Beck tapped unknown singer Rod Stewart for lead vocals. Jimmy Page(at that time the other guitarist in the Yardbirds) found Robert Plant. Truth and Led Zeppelin 1 expand on the Yardbirds. Most people thing f Jeff as this incredible fusion player, and the early rock blues plus records are overlooked. Personally I find Truth to be one of the best sixties album. The band also included Ronnie Wood (Rolling Stones), Nicky Hopkins piano legend, and Mickey Waller and I think Page and Bonham on Beck’s Bolero.

Gentlemen, if you want to hear a sample of Jeff Beck at his best and most unique, I suggest you react to "'Cause We've Ended as Lovers." I think he released that in 1975 (not sure). It's actually written by Stevie Wonder, and Beck got it to record for playing on Stevie's album at the time. Beck was actually supposed to get "Superstition"; but there was NO WAY Motown was going to give that one away because they knew what a hit it was going to be. This caused some bad blood between Beck and Stevie, but they fixed things and Beck did an incredibly beautiful instrumental version of the song I mentioned above.

Try anything from Truth by The Jeff Beck Group with Rod Stewart from 1969. A classic Blues Rock album overshadowed by Led Zeppelin's first which came out right after. Or Cause We've Ended As Lovers by Beck.

This song is one that gets covered over and over again. How about checking out Texan trio, King's X? No channel seems to listen to them. Try Black the Sky and The Burning Down. Their early producer described them as a mix of Hendrix, The Beatles, Sabbath, and a hint of James Brown.

Great pick fellas. I seen you checked the Chambers Brothers Time Has Come Today. They also do a beautiful cover of this song on that album. Harmonies from heaven. It be worth your time to check it out. Really enjoying your channel. Steely Dan, Yes, Pink Floyd, the (Al)mighty Led Zeppelin, and just recently Iron Maiden. Great work guys from a loyal viewer and subscriber.
