    I’ve been on 120hz tweaking settings not even realizing that going to 90hz could be better. Going to try that, thanks.

    G2 at 60fps is terrible, just got a Quest 3 so I’ll try 72 & 80fps 👍

    I am currently using the 90 Hz refresh rate in my Crystal and lock the frame rate to half in the PimaxXR runtime, essentially locking everything at 45 Hz. I am also using eye tracking and DFR. My settings are maxed out inside of DCs and I am using DLAA. I am running a 4090 with a 7800x3d and 6K DDR5. I love the visual experience without stutters and am very happy with my settings. When it comes out, I will try to the 72Hz mode and set my frames back to 100%. No matter which settings win out for me, my Crystal and DCS is an awesome combination. Thanks for posting this.

      Don't you get the crazy double ghosting everywhere if you halve the framerate? I love 45fps but can't use it exactly due to that.

      @@efirehawkNo ghosting whatsoever for me. I did a complete re-do of all settings based on @tallymouse 's video ua-cam.com/video/A6g58RVPiUc/v-deo.html and it works beautifully for me.

    I’m on the 72hz beta.. For me it’s all about 120hz mode locked at half frames in PimaxXR. 72hz gives me a distracting strobing effect

    As a Scot your names "do ma heid in" please swap - lol. Aside from that, excellent review/video between the both of you. Would love to hear, or see a video, how you use real-world object when in DCS as it's not like TrackIR.

    Is 72Hz a firmware update or do you need to buy dedicated 72Hz headset?

    • @gr-skil
      @gr-skil 11 місяців тому +1

      It's an update, which should hopefully be released soon.

    I'm using 72 Hz on my Quest Pro. The upside is that, indeed, you are able to set a higher internal resolution at less strain on your system. Which is kinda important, because at a stock 1:1 1800x1920 per eye the text on MFDs isn't always readable, but supersampling (with DLSS Quality) helps a lot with that, while keeping the game playable.
    Running DCS at 90 Hz is of little use because I can barely get to 60s on my RTX3090 anyway and forcing the GPU to output 90 fps video stream doesn't help with that either.

    Why are you using dlaa and not dlss?

    I own the pimax 8kx DMAS ( the oldest version of the 8kx i think ) and i play with 75hz. It run perfect and i have no issues at 75hz with a 4080rtx, and 7800x3d cpu on m.2 harddisk.
    A tip. my headset could in the past run with 85hz and 90hz but not anymore. The image is blinking if i go any higher than 75%. I am not sure but it started after an update but Acording to a search on google i found out this properbly could be the cable was damaged.. OR that the cable due to age have degraded a bit resulting in this behaviour. But personaly no matter what i prefer 75hz and can live with it. I never really see that much of a difference but the game run better at 75hz i think.
    Alternative i could buy a fiber optic cable to fix the problem BUT since i will tradein the 8kx for the 12kx in guess 1 year from now then i survive. ( such a cable cost like 180usd + import tax )
    pro tip.. i had a amd 7900xtx first but the headset did not work in VR.. there was some talk about they fixed this 6 month after i bought the gpu but i had to change to nvidia and that worked out of the box. Be aware that the new pimax 8kx is maybe not compatible with the new pimax8kx named Kmas or kdmas.. so check the specs on pimax website what graphics card that work with your pimax gear before purchase.. ;-( ( but many people say when it come to vr then nvidia is the best no matter what. )

    I just got the PImax Crystal today and man, DCS ran smooth as butter with my 4070ti at 90 Hz. This was my first time running DCS in VR. It made landing a whole lot easier, because now I can judge distance better in VR. It also made me realize how cheezy the trees look in DCS.

    Whats the resolution per eye on that? Is it better than the meta quest2?

    • @gr-skil
      @gr-skil 11 місяців тому

      2880 X 2880 per eye, but the eye tracking along with the quad views and DFR mean that it only has to render the sharpest image where your eyes are looking, leaving the peripheral at a lower res, increasing performace/fps.

    Hi, nice video, congratulations on the content.
    I recently purchased the Pimax and I'm quite happy with the difference and improvement I got from the Reverb G2, I was trying to record a video with DCS
    and flight simulator but I can't record full page like you do.
    I use obs but then how do I get a single large window and not two?
    Thanks for any replies and congratulations again for the videos

      @gr-skil 10 місяців тому +1

      Hi, thanks.
      For recording DCS, I just use OBS to record the VR mirror displayed on the monitor. It isn't perfect but it gives a good idea of where I'm looking.

      hi there, i also have a reverb g2, i was wondering if its worth getting the crystal. is it really that much of an increase in visuals? is it like looking at a monitor graphics wise? ie. sharp lines? clear? not grainy like in the reverb? i mean dont get me wrong i went from the oculus 2 to the reverb and the difference was night and day, im just wondering it the crystal is that much of an improvement. alot of money to spend for a little gain if not. thanks a bunch.

    • @borntofly2655
      @borntofly2655 9 місяців тому

      We are talking about a very big difference, there is more difference between the reverb G2 and the cristal than between the reverb g2 and the quest, the jump is really big but you have to have a very powerful graphics card otherwise it wouldn't be worth it.
      if you have an rtx 4080 or better yet a 4090 I would definitely buy the cristal.
      Furthermore, the crystal is also easier to manage than the reverb, really excellent if you have the possibility and a computer of a certain power you will not be disappointed by the pimax@@6605jeremy

      I am using an i7 12700K, with 64GB of DDR4 (3200) RAM and an RTX 4090, so not a top of the range system, but still pretty high spec.
      I think with the Crystal's eye tracking, using DFR and now the 72hz mode you could get away with a slightly.less powerful system and still have a good experience in DCS or other sims, however, the Crystal has very high quality, high res panels, so if you want to get the best out of it, you will need a beefy PC.

    You can get by with much few frames per second in VR, so long as those frames are consistent the human eye won’t tell the difference
