Certainly smoother than a landing at Belfast City! 😁
Yeah we were totally preparing for the worst! 🤣
Hi Rich and Helen. That's quite the adventure !! It looked beautiful.
Thank you Jeremy. It certainly was quite an adventure! 😀
I have really no idea why but, people clapping when they touch down grinds my gears! (Or was that the seals on the ground?) 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🤔😂
I love it. It means we are safe AND that the pilot did a great job.
@@skqq3250 I can assure you that the pilot wants to land safely as well, but we will have to agree to differ 👍🏻
Haha, I think it’s just such a unique experience and we were all super excited to be there 😍
Thanks for watching 👍
Thank you for Braving it to bring us this video😊 very nice.

Lovely review of a very unique flight and trip! As usual, beautifully shot. I really look forward to more vlogs on this adventure, if you have them! :)
Thank you Amy. Yes, we have plenty coming your way soon. 😀
Wonderful review! Keenly awaiting the vlogs of your antarctic voyage :)
Thank you Joseph. Vlog part 2 coming soon. 😀
Wonderful little video. Informative and exciting without the hype. Well done !
Thank you Howard. We like to inform without going over the top. 🙂
These are the absolute best reviews. Calm, relaxing and straight to the point.
Thank you Ryan. :)
There was a 146 parked right next to an A380 at Brisbane airport a few weeks ago, when I was last there. The difference in size was amazing. I believe the BAe 146 is the smallest four engined jet aircraft still in service. Back when they were used a lot in Australia for regional flights, we used to joke that they were powered by four hair dryers.
😂😂😂
Thanks for watching 👍
Seems like an amazing flight. Hope to try something similar one day! Great video!
Thank you 😊
And Thanks for watching 👍
You always make me want to come along! Great job!

Another excellent video. Thank you again for taking me somewhere ive never seen
Glad you enjoyed it Brad! :D
Great video. I’ll be in punta arenas in March and thinking about flying to Antarctica.
How long did you stay there if I may ask?
We flew out to join Aurora expeditions Greg Mortimer for 8 nights including sailing back to Punta arenas 👍
Can understand the strict baggage allowances when using runways like that!
Indeed!
Thanks for watching 😊
There are three gates. You can even see it in the video while the plane is taxing..
Thanks for watching.
I bet that cruise isn't cheap.
No, they are a bit pricey! But look where you're going. It's totally unique! :)
And you'd win that bet!!
@@christianoliver3572 Antarctica cruises are very expensive!
Thx

Thanks for watching 👍
Did you know that the front seats on a plane are the most dangerous, and if the plane is very large, so is the mid section as in a crash a large plane can break in two then the mid section becomes the front end, front ends can then crash into something on the ground. Take care and thanks.
Thanks for the info - good job we never fly first or business 😊
Thanks for watching 👍
Richard, ow did you get around the 7Kg carry on limit with your camera gear? Did Helen have to surrender her allowance or did you wear the gear and not put in the case? Always a concern for me this... I take a rucksack plus carry on bag. I weighed them on my Panama trip. It came up with a total of 20Kg!
Yes, we shared the hand luggage allowance between us, although it was a challenge. Thankfully we managed though 😥
Thanks for watching 👍
I’d like to see you cross the dreaded Drake passage you mention
Thanks for watching. The Drake is featured in part 4. Spoiler - it doesn’t and well. 😆
Really enjoyed your video. I just subscribed. I know this is probably a stupid question but were you able to get some sort of stamp in your passport for this trip. What an awesome sight that would be. Thank you.
No, you know I don’t think we did 🤔
Thanks for watching 👍
Hey, where did you book your DAP flight? It is really hard to find on the internet.
Flights on the penguin plane are chartered by the expedition ships so you won’t find a scheduled flight on the internet.
Thanks for watching 👍
Yeah and it costs 13k (EUR) at the best
hello Rich nice Video. I am from Punta Arenas I would like to travel to antartic but is very expensive . however , I can pay dap antartic airways Full day and overnight tour too. Did you buy any those tours ?? what do you recommend me ?? I am thinking choose Hurtugriten expeditions tour to usuahia because is very similar in prices to dap . Hopefully you can come back to my city is very beautiful in general. jajajaj you have the same name as me jajaaj mr richard regards
Thank you for watching and you have a beautiful city! Yes, I think you can book to do a 1 day visit to Antarctica if you fly both ways, ot like us you can fly one way and sail back. We sailed with Aurora Expeditions, and I hope you get the time to watch our video series all about the trip - you might find it helpful. :D
BA Aircraft is most likely quitter the the 737 or A320 because of the 4 engine setup has the engines do not need to work as hard has just 2 of them the Queen had one of these planes ✈️ do not know if she still dose
Thanks for watching 👍
good point about the lift vests on a flight to Antarctica! lol well, maybe they should use the environmental suits we use on UK/USA/French nuclear powered submarines for submarine escape. Originally, when I was in the US Navy 1999 to 2003, we just used "steinke hoods", which is a small hood with air inside that gives you 40 lbs of buoyancy, but recently (I believe this is after I got out in 2003 when they started using these) they started using a fully body suit instead. Invented by the British. If it folds up small enough for a submarine hopefully it would fit under the aircraft seat! Check it out,

How interesting, thank you 😊
