  • There's a few different ways that people can tune their car. Piggyback ECU's, Flash Tuning, or Standalone tuning. I've found that a lot of people don't know the difference between these methods and the benefits or drawbacks of each choice. So we decided to make this video in partnership with Cobb to explain the 3 primary methods that people use to tune their cars. Hope you enjoy!

    I had the JB1 on my 2016 Golf R and loved it! Amazing power and George from Burger Motorsports was a joy to work with. I now have their JB4 on my 2019 Type-R and its even better thanks to the bluetooth functionality with their app. You can monitor several digital gauges, data log and switch maps on the fly...it's phenomenal and best part again is there is no flash or checksum file left behind on your factory ECU ;b Cobb is a great option too but their OST maps are really prevalent to knock, at least on the Subaru and Evo platform. Pro tunes are definitely the way to go for this route.

    2 question from Italy 🇮🇹
    First one:
    I'm not sure of that, but in all these case you can only modify the ECU changing the code with a new pre-written code and you can't access at single parameters changing them as you want wright?
    Second one
    How can you be sure that the mechanic contest is robust enough to support the increase of power ?

    What's best for my 02 vw jetta with the 2.8 glx vr6 engine? I want more take off, more boost and more power. Mine is not the turbo. But will be turb boosted in 2 months. What's best for me to use right now so I can bring to a shop to get it done? I currently have straight headers, straight pipe and cold air intake. Not much of anything but I want more out of my beefy engine

  • @Hugs_4_Bugs_
    @Hugs_4_Bugs_ 4 роки тому

    I have a cold air intake and catback exhaust. Can I tune it myself with just a laptop and some software? I mean the mods ain't much but it's certainly taking in air and dispersing exhaust on a level the ECU wasn't programmed to, so a tune will bring out the most of what I have. I just wish I knew more.

Its far too short a range if you get me. Well I mean I need 1st gear to be diffetent in some way,,,,longer or something. It just aint right. But i dont know anything about tuning and the car is just too nice to start replacing hardware. Should i get a standalone ECU to achieve this? My goal horsepower would be 250-300. But i dont know if just a tune could manage this. Any opinions? (The caprice is OBD1 by the way)

      Lone Rider You can cause irreparable damage to the ECU just by winging it on your own. Best case scenario, you don't make any more power. Worst case, you completely disable your car. Learning on your own is great, but it just isn't worth the risk imho
