Reliving The War takes a look at the WWF vs WCW Monday Night Wars that took place during the mid to late 90s and early 2000s. Every match, promo and segment gets covered as we take an in-depth look at one of the hottest time periods in wrestling. With WCW Nitro on TNT and WWF Monday Night Raw on the USA Network (at the same time), fans had to choose which channel to watch. This series flips back and forth between both the WCW channel and the WWF channel to check out what happened every week.
WWF Raw has moved to a 2 hour format and their first 120 minute episode comes from the Toronto Skydome. Billed as "Royal Rumble Raw", the WWF present matches featuring Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Undertaker, Ahmed Johnson and Vader. Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels also have an entertaining in-ring segment.
Over on Nitro, Rowdy Roddy Piper has a choice. Piper can choose to wrestle Hulk Hogan at WCW Superbrawl VII or he can go home and be a family man. Both Hulk Hogan and Roddy Piper appear on Nitro. Steve McMichael, The Steiner Brothers, Harlem Heat and Glacier all in action this week on TNT.

I feel like “Taking Care of Horsemen Business” should be an absolutely valid excuse for calling out for work.
I've actually used that line.
To be clear I got it from this series, but my boss was too damn confused to ask follow-up questions
@@nicholashurst780 haHAA!!!
I cant comment...im too busy takin care of horseman business......TCBHM
I used it yesterday
@@DeedeeandtheBeebee I can respect that, sometimes I buy milkshakes for horseman business
Kevin Sullivan’s entrance robe is so cringey, he looks like when your dad would come down in the middle of the night and u have that awkward meeting in the kitchen with him
@Arthur Reese Leslie Nielsen 😂
You can hear DDP tell the Renegade after the loud slap "I'm sorry"...lol
I seen that too 😉
"I'm sorry. I love you." If only it was a retirement match.
Just watched that part and immediately came down to the comments to see if I was the only one lol
69 episodes later, I'm still waiting for Scott Hall to give me this war he keeps saying I'm going to get.
Me too. Waiting for RAW to not suck.
Raw is starting to make it competitive. Give it 3 more months and stuff will really start to heat up. Raw gets markedly better as 97 progresses and gets good in the summer of 97
@@derjude5758 I think it doesn't take 3 more months, I think.. Should happen in February or March. Mostly because of Bret Hart, though. After Mania, the rest of the roster turns it up a notch.
Lol @ mainly because of Bret hart.
@@oldironsides4107 what's funny, Bret Hart was killing it during this time.
You know, we here in the Wrestling Bios fandom make jokes about Glacier, but he really does have a unique move set and would’ve made a great midcard act.
Plus the Sass
Was my favorite character to use in wcw world tour I think or vs nwo
Oh yeah he was no slouch and definitely could have grown and evolved with a better gimmick.
Not true we also came here to hear about wrestling
I agree, I think there was real midcard potential there.
Bill & Ted: "69 Dudes!"
Me: "Nice."
That being said, I enjoy your jokes and commentary. The format change will not be a detriment for me. Thanks for what you do.
Same yo!
This series is literally better than any other tv show that comes out every week. So good!
haven't watched wrestling in many years; watch this every thursday
@@BlessedAreTheCheesemakers same
No lies detected 🤔
Agreed. Wrestling might suck nowadays but this series is great. I look forward to it every week.
@@Jay-Kaizo I mean, I dunno. I literally have not turned it on since Stone Cold and The Rock were still on like 20 years ago. I've heard of CM Punk but anyone else new the last 20 years probably not
“….and Kidman becomes a stripper pole when Glacier performs an erotic kick” 😂☠️
Shed a few tears when I heard no Davey Boy chin locks this week. 😢
I like the wedgie piledriver from mankind better
I've been taking back alley headlocks to compensate. It's just not the same.
Woman could have ended Glacier's undefeated streak with a sass off. A real missed opportunity there 😂
Woman ends it with a heel to the eye.
The fact that Furnas and Lafon never held the Tag Titles is an absolute crime. My god they were SO GOOD!
They really should’ve taken the belts from Owen and Davey during this feud between the two. It just makes the most sense.
I love Owen's SMUG ASS SMILE...man I miss his promos
"I've stopped taking my Prozac and Vince has upped my steroid intake." Is what he meant to say.
Ahmed's roid rage rampage raw
I loved Heenan's concern in the final segment when he remembered that Piper's son was in the ring. He was great at the serious moments.
I really forgot how rare it was to see hogan, Hall and Nash wrestle back then. They seemed to only wrestle 15-20 times a year.
😂😂yeah and were paid more
All 3 were the reason why WCW died, they had creative control and million pound contracts. Heck even when WWF bought them out they was under contract for wcw and didn't even have to show up to get paid and most didn't until it was time for their contracts to run out
I'm just here hoping to see wcw referee Mark Curtis do his famous leap of faith to count the pin
Complete with a Mario jump effect
Bill And Ted drop on episode 69 is perfect, my man
This must’ve been the start of DDP getting more and more creative with the Diamond Cutter, half the fun of watching his matches in the late ‘90s was seeing all the different ways he’d surprise his opponents with it.
1997 already feels so different than 1996, and 1995 seems like a different era completely.
Same with 98 ,99 ,2000,2001 ,and 2002 after 2002 every year felt very same I huess
Woooooooooo
"Its only a matter of time till Glacier gets a title shot"
Funniest line of this episode
I use the "Taking Care of Horsemen Business" as my excuse for everything now.
Glacier's sass is too hot to handle! 😂
But not as 🔥🔥 as Jarretts
"Into Sullivan's knickers" I swear I laughed out loud when I heard that 😂
Dude, you have brought me such joy over these many episodes. I appreciate you and your hard work. You do this show however you want to, brother!
Still my favorite wrestling review ever. But I already miss the segment breakdown and point system! But I'm still not missing an entire episode of this channel every thing is gold. Thank you!
Just a month away from the Raw is War branding Titantron!
Loving reliving 1997 Raw and Nitro’s still the best year in wrestling
97 is my favorite too.
How about "The Renegade smashes his little jobbers?" I'm just spit balling here.
That “Taking Care of Horseman Business”, should be on a t-shirt..
Arn didn't appear, cause his injuries were mounting up. The Horsemen business was him at his chiropractor fixing him up.
I'm stuck at home with Covid and I have to say I was looking forward to Reliving The War all day. Thank You! This made my day.
97 is going to be awesome been watching a lot of 97 footage recently it's crazy how much Austin's popularity grows in just a few months, 97 Austin is my fav.
I hope I speak for most of us, we don't watch your videos to see who gets the most points we watch cause you put out great content and videos. Keep up the great work. Thank you wrestling bios.
Always look forward those famous words every Thursday "You want a war?" The Bret Hart Middle finger F U to Shawn while in Canada
1997 While the war raged a small wrestling company called ECW was starting to turn heads.. great time to be a fan
Welcome to Thursday Afternoon Reliving the War! Thanks once again for a great trip down memory lane.
^^^
It's going to be a sad Thursday, when this series ends in four years. Love this every Thursday night.
There's always Reliving the 2nd War when Impact went head to head with the WWE.
@@damightybenstein 😆 😆 😄 😄
Maybe he can compare Raw and Smackdown from 2002-2006 or so.

This has been my favourite UA-cam Wrestling Series of 2021 🏆
We Appreciate you bro 👊🏽❤️
Been mine since 2018
YES!!!!!
69 episodes in and iv watched every single one since the beginning.
Keep up the good work dude. Years worth of content still to go and im going to be tuned in for them all.
Glacier was only a couple of chin locks away from greatness
wrestling Bios with added Bill and Ted, era centric too. kudos
I popped when you said Glacier got in an "erotic kick"
thats a big beefy boy match of the Steiner's vs. harlem heat. vice would love it if he liked tag teams lol.
Mongo Under the Microscope sounds like an animated show on Nickelodeon
Speaking of brass knuckles you might be amused to find out the brass knuckles William Regal used during that whole run in the WWE were actually Vince McMahon's personal brass knuckles that had his name engraved into them
This is my favorite series, I’ve been hooked since the 1st episode and they’ve only gotten better and better. The quality of all the content on this channel is consistently top notch. Best wrestling channel on UA-cam in my opinion
That whole Glacier segment was the best, hahaha - "casa del frostyballs"
These videos have become my Friday morning thing. Thanks for the great videos
That Raw looks like WWE in the 80s. I kind of like it. Also, 69, DUDE!
Loving the increased humor! I think the lad's comfortable around us now! 😂 @16:37 glad 2 finally hear Kevin Sullivan made fun of for his dizzy, yawn-inducing, mystic hoo doo promos!! I've been annoyed by them since the early 80s watching FCW as a lil 1.
Pretty soon Shawn Michaels has to find his smile!😂😂😂
Lmao
Is this the one where Nash looked at lex and said “that which does not kill us knocks us unconscious”?
Hogan knew he wasn't a match for Glacier so Glacier never got a shot, sadge
Dean Malenko should've replaced Mongo for the 4 horsemen stable
He does when mongo leaves in February 1999
The fact you made a skyrim reference just boosted you to a whole next level. And I've been watching your channel for over a year. Well done.
Erotic kick sounds like it would have been a Val Venis maneuver.
You're always delivering, brother. I think you made the right decision when you switched it up. This way you can spend a little more time on the relevant matches/promos/storylines. I look forward to your shows every week. Thanks for what you do.
I could see that image of glacier pointing as a running gag on this channel. Like whenever there's a zoom in, we'd have Glacier tell us where to look lool
This is my new favorite channel. I’ve gone back and watched a lot of the past videos. Well done!!!
I think this new format will help to make sure that the best matches get highlighted each week.
Though the format changed still great work, this is still some of the best wrestling content there is!
new format is just as great as the old one, keep it up, loving this content
There will be another change when nitro goes 3 hours in January 1998, I wonder how everything going to be scored, more content more work.
New format is good. Retained the same feel as the previous points system and it still touched on all the stuff it had to. Reliving the War is the only show I sit down to watch on a weekly basis, without fail.
The new show format works great! I'm glad you were able to find a more manageable way of continuing the series, it's something I look forward to every week!
that glacier sass LOL
This version of Konnan was so good
Mark Curtis is Gold
Shawn and sid had a kick or be kicken type of relationship
Here's to Wrestling Bios eventually losing his mind when Nitro goes to 3 hours in a year
Thoroughly enjoyed reliving the war! Keep up the awesomeness.
BEST SERIES ON YT !!!!
ALMOST AS GOOD AS 1996-2001 WWF VS WCW
Glad to see Glacier once again and that sass lol
Awesome as always! I look forward to this every Thursday! And I especially loved the Bill & Ted in the beginning.
WB, thank you man. That is all.
^^^ 👊✊
Piper should’ve won the World title instead of Luger
Love it!!!!!! Reliving the war is no bs the only vids i have watched religiously from jump. Thanks for all you do
my goodness love the small changes to how youve done these episodes overtime
I love the Laparka dance he use to do as the chairman of the board.
The best thing about my latest depression bout being on a Thursday night is I can distract myself with reliving the war.
I guess this is the beginning of HBK losing his smile. Poor Shawn.
Thank you very much. Always looking forward to your work.
Totally fine with the new format as long as no Davey Boy Smith chin locks are missed.
How is the new format scored?
I've been watching since day one and I look forward to it every week thank you brother much love from Philadelphia....
Omg the glacier bit with his sass had me dying 🤣🤣🤣
This new format works, thanks for keeping up with it!
21:37 did DDP say "im sorry" after that slap LOL
Shawn losing his smile was common place in the mid nineties.
love the mini overhaul of reliving the war, love your channel in general!
The new format works just fine. Keep up the great work sir. We all appreciate it!
one my favorite year of wrestling, the cool 1997
This is becoming my weekly Wrestling channel awesome work
This formate still works. We will continue watching. You got us hooked. Lol
I can't believe how he doesn't bring up how scott steiner has been looking more like big papa pump. He has been changing his image for a couple weeks now.
Keep up the awesome work! Your channel and OSW are two of the best wrestling channels on outube right now!
Xpac used to be a wrestler, until he took an arrow to the knee.
Glaciers Sass and Woman's Sass is a hard one to call. But I'm gonna award the point to Glacier, no words needed, just pure sass.
Glacier is pure ass.
(Fixed it for ya, Ryan!)
@@SoelGriffin *Feeling Blessed*
the commitment to the running jokes in reliving the war is the best thing about the whole series, long may they continue.
17:17 lmfao
I just had to clean up the coffee that came flying out of my mouth
Another awesome upload from the greatest wrestling channel on the net! A highlight of my week
I know we all talk about Wrestling Bios dedication here, but good lord imagine having to stare at that picture of Roddy Piper to make the thumbnail. The guy looks like he's about to jump out of my screen and strangle me.
Been waitin all week for thursday. Now its my favorite day of the week. Keep up thr great work
Austin uses the "kick to the gut" as a set up for the stunner for the first time.
Your new format to combat the extra hour on raw is good with me mate keep up the good work love this whole series
