    Lovely collection - takes me way, way back to my childhood.
    If I make one small quibble, you need to have a barrier wagon, a van or some other truck between that 4MT and the petrol tankers - and between the last tanker and the brake van, if you're operating authentically. Tommy Dodd (remember him in the Meccano Magazine) would expect nothing less

    Nothing beats the charm of those tin-plate rails, cars and buildings. Being a Märklin addict with some JEP HO tin plate, I just discovered Hornby Dublo trains. Juste magnifique.

    It's amazing what you can fit on a 6ftx4ft board. There is room for lots of play value as you have shown. Love the models on the layout, particularly the N2.

    The Railway Game.
    Like many boys back in the 1960s, I had a Dublo set that went on the dining table, when my mother didn't need it for Ladies Auxiliaries Meetings, or flower arranging, or God forbid... meals! Just a loop of track, some spur sidings, a station and goods shed.
    But the train just went around.. and around, and around.... until my father invented, "The railway game". He had a stopwatch (don't ask me why... he wasn't a coach) and was interested in running at scale speeds. He would time my laps and admonish me for running 'way too fast for regulations'.
    On a piece of cardboard, he drew a fictional railway line of six stations, and the distance between them was the number of laps around the table I had to complete. I remember it was six laps between Cadwellington, and West Farting - The latter being a name my Mother hated in particular. All town names were fictitious. As train driver I had to run my train - never too fast or slow, and was expected to stay 'on schedule' according to Dah's stopwatch.
    To add to the excitement my Dad built an incline on the back part of the layout so, I actually had to "drive" the train, adding power up the hill then reducing it again, as I wasn't allowed to go 'too fast' on the downhill leg. When I reached the end of the line terminal, we reset the train and ran it again, in the opposite direction.
    We even did this with goods trains, where every station stop meant I had to switch out two wagons at the goods shed for new ones.
    Despite it being a simple loop with two spurs, thanks to my Father and the power of imagination... I was working on a real railway.
    My Dad is long passed now. And I miss him. I'm older now, and have a child of my own. But the memories of such pleasant times spent, and the joy of such simple gifts.. like love, and imagination, stay with me to this day.

    Very nice, a proper railway with lots of prototypical features and as I've said previously, you have some lovely condition original Hornby Dublo items. There is something about the sound of the original 1/2" motor in the Bristol Castle and 8F locomotives.....

    you havent got a track plan of this have you as would love to recreate it with my collection as well if possible

      Afraid not and I have since taken it all down. It was a 6 x 4 ft main baseboard and it had a 2 ft long x 1 ft wide spur off one end of the main board. Sidings off the twin loop were taken onto this spur area for the terminus. There were sidings in the centre of the main board for engine shed and goods depot. Hope this helps.
