You almost killed! I was watching your video laying in bed with a cough drop in my mouth... When you started scrubbing in fast motion... I lost it! I started laughing so hard, l swallowed my “Ricola”... A square shaped cough drop, kinda big! I’m widowed and live alone... l can’t believe I survived Stage IV Breast Cancer only to die chocking on a cough drop because I was laughing! I ran into the bathroom and drank a glass of hot water, it melted the cough drop a little and then it slid down my throat. UA-cam recommended the video of your Mother’s kitchen remodel. I really enjoyed it so, I decided to check out the rest of your videos. I subscribed and I think you have a wonderful personality and some interesting videos. I’m looking forward to watching some more. Be safe and stay healthy.
I’ve washed my rugs with a clean broom, dish soap, and my hose. I found a problem figuring out where to dry it. Now this is genius. My boyfriends truck is gonna be my saving grace!!! 🙌🏽
Way to go Nessie!!.. I take my kitchen rugs to the car wash and lay them out on the grass to dry. Much less expensive than a rug cleaning company, which would cost more than I paid for the rug. GREAT JOB👍👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏
Do not do this with a 3 inch thick shag carpet. 10ftx8ftx3inches of water = nearly a thousand pounds. Wash it while it's already on top of the car because you'll never be able to lift it.
Yup. Had this exact issue. Thank goodness i did it in the back yard. I had to prop it up to drain for two days in the sun before i could getit back in the house
Lmaooooo ur so funny, and the music with it! It was like u were in a video game haha. I’m going to take my rugs down the street to the car wash to try this. We always have long lines hopefully people don’t get mad lol
I am so excited to try this out this weekend on my area rug. Only problem is..I don’t have a truck! So I’m gonna wrap up the bottom with big trash bags and let the top half hang out the window lol. It’s only 2 miles away but I know im gonna be looking my best ratchet self driving with a big dripping rug hanging out my car window lol
I love this! Most of the videos I watched showed them doing it in the driveway. I have a shared driveway and can't do that. This is great! I'm going to do it this afternoon. Thank you for sharing.
I live in a condo so there is no driveway or area for me to wash or dry my large outdoor rug (I have a screened-in porch with lots of plants and furniture so that is not an option). THANK YOU for this idea it's brilliant!
I do this with detailing quite a bit on rugs and upholstery used a deep cut Degreaser as well if you have deep-set and stains and if you need to get extra set in stains try this for an extra little secret in the detailing World especially in your car one cup of 91% rubbing alcohol clear kind only one teaspoon of Dawn dish liquid 1 quarter cup distilled vinegar and it will kill any smells by the way 4 tablespoons of Windex without ammonia do not use the type with ammonia it will bleed your colors in your rug especially a darker upholstery Shake It Up let it sit for about 3 to 5 minutes tilts bubbles fade a little bit you cannot go wrong with this I've been using it for years 1 all types of upholstery the only thing you cannot use it on is leather and Pho leather when you apply it let it sit down into the upholstery for a few minutes suck it up with a what vac the key to the entire thing is a wet dry vac you must have a wet dry vac when you are cleaning any type of carpet or upholstery if not you were just going to smear the dirt and sand and grit down into your carpet and you are going to cut the fibers which is going to make your carpet look even dirtier after you are done which is going to make your work go down the drain I hope this helps everyone stay safe
Nice! Subscribed! I have done this on top of my car, but with a truck bed, I used a couple 2X4s between a set of ladders to dry. Obviously this takes one or two patients friends! One thing to add is that time and soaking is what really helps dislodge dirt particles.. so if you have a way to wet it and let it sit before the hose time starts (maybe dump hot soapy water from a cooler brought in the truck?) even 5 minus helps get more dirt out without have to agitate, which will shorten he life of fiber products.
Omg I've been trying to figure out how to clean my rug as I have a bunch of family coming over soon. Lol looks like my husband and I are gonna go to the car wash! So much cheaper than hiring a pro to do it.
If you have a lite colored rug w/ a dark backing, do not flip it over while wet. The dye will bleed through to the light colored side.🤦🏽♀️ Hence: I have black dye on my cream rug
@@candyislander3563 haha! I actually bought a huge white rug and cant keep this one cleaner either. This comment made me realize that I'm addicted to light colored rugs and still haven't learned my lesson. Lol
So how have I never seen your videos?! I just happened to be looking up how to clean my son's carpet and your video popped up in the options!! At first glance I'm liking what I see. I'm about to look around some more. 🙏🏾Thanks for sharing! 💙Andrea
Ruthie's vlog World hang it over your fence. That’s how we dry our rugs. If you don’t have a big fence, lay something down on the grass like a couple bed sheets and let your rug dry that way. I have dogs and kitties, that would lay all over my rugs if I put them in the grass, that’s why we use the fence.
Those car washes are the modern day “Bodega Slot Machines…” you can wash your carpet on a sloped patio with two 5 gallon container, one with several packets of Laundry soap, one fresh water, several brushed scrubbers and aluminum squeegees. I don’t have a pressure washer but the squeegees got most of the heavy water out. I draped the rug over outdoor chairs and the next day will hang it on my eaves with heavy duty woodworking clamps.
Bloody hell, what a GENIUS idea!!!!!! Oh my goodness, fantastic! I’ve got a pressure washer and cleaning liquid, I think I’ll give that a go! Thank You so much. 😊😊😊
At the car wash, I washed down the area prior to laying down my rug. After rinsing, I used a swiping motion in the bay to remove a lot of the water. Rug fabric type will determine how long it takes to dry. I have an SUV so I placed old towels in the back, rolled up the rug and brought it home. Laid it flat in the sun and it took one day to dry . .completely dry. I also sprayed it w Odorban when it was dry to repel odors until the next wash. It gets a lot of foot traffic in my kitchen
This is a great idea! Omg Ive been wondering how to clean my rugs! I was going to donate them... But this technique is so simple. And I don't need to purchase anything. I have a large balcony with a powerhouse. Also a water hose with different settings. My problem is to dry it. Im in SF and it's pretty misty every morning. Can I let them dry naturally? The rug is about 8x14 with only about 1/2" to 2" thick. It's more of like a really thick quilt. What do you suggest to dry?
Nice 🔥🔥but just a suggestion instead of wasting money going to the car wash just by a pressure washer for your home and do it in your driveway and you can take your time I clean carpets for my side business and rugs takes a lot to really clean out
DO NOT DO THIS! Your carpet will take days to dry and it will mildew. You might MIGHT get away with it if it’s a thin rug or if the temp gets up into the 90s and you have a blower on it all day.
We have done this in the past with indoor/outdoor rugs. Would love to know what would happen to z standard area rug if you could get the soap and most of the water out of it. I'm not referring to a wool or Persian rug but just a standard polyester area rug.vwhat do you think?
I think the car wash is a good idea! But, my only concern about the car wash is: Your putting your rug on the ground; and it's dirty from all the cars coming through there. Cars/trucks could have leakage of oil or other things coming from underneath their vehicle , and that could get into rug. IJS maybe I'm being OCD about it. 😂 I think I would hang it across the truck and scrub it and rinse it down, if you have the extra person for help. I scrub my rugs with a clean broom and scrub brush for stains and rinse mine outside with the water hoes (get the attachment for your hoes, that you can adjust your water pressure) and hang it across the patio railings or fence to air dry for the whole day. 😷💯🥰
You mentioned that you have indoor/outdoor rugs. Do you think that this would work with a regular area rug? My rugs are not fancy expensive ones. They do need a good wash. ;)
Thank you for the tip but I think if we put a little bit of white vinegar in solution on the rug first and let it sit on there for good 25 too 30 minutes and then do what you do because we know vinegar would definitely knock out any odor no disrespect intended New York City 💛💜💚🖤❤💙
Neesie girl where have you been all my life? You know how much they charge to clean an area rug. I have been throwing them away and just buying new ones.

Jane Doe You are hilarious, I’m so glad you made it❤️
haha im happy your here !!! congrats on surviving cancer !!!
Soo glad you're ok! Lol. Thank you. I needed this laugh, my daughter just left home for college today 😂
Way to survive cancer god bless! Your comment made me laugh!
Congrats on your BC recovery -- ya don't blow it on a cough drop!!!!!!! Stay healthy!
I’ve washed my rugs with a clean broom, dish soap, and my hose. I found a problem figuring out where to dry it. Now this is genius. My boyfriends truck is gonna be my saving grace!!! 🙌🏽
You "found a problem figuring out where to dry it?" What kind of problem and where did you found it?
😅 Dish soap would foam and lather SO bad. Use an enzyme cleaner
If you have a backyard fence just throw it over the fence that actually works better 👍🏾
This save me from spending $75 on carpet cleaning. Thank you so much
I'm doing it tomorrow...lol
Spend the $75... it will save you time. Lol. Just saying
Wow! Take the rug to the car wash and dry it on the truck! Wow! Never thought if that!
Don't dirty your rug like that. Don't let people in your house with shoes on
If you have a backyard fence just throw it over the fence that actually works better 👍🏾
I never thought of this!! My young boys would love to do this chore!😄
1:03 Lol that was funny, the car wash really is a race against the clock. 🤣
I just did this with my white shag rug and used a bottle of carpet cleaner. It was perfect then even had the blow dryer which added the shag back
Exactly what I'm wanting to wash. Good to know! ♥
Yep. Me too. I haven’t done anything yet because rugs I’ve washed in the past have ended up smelly
Was it REALLY heavy when wet? I'm thinking of taking my huge braided rug but wondering if I'll be able to lift it afterward! haha
Do not do this with a 3 inch thick shag carpet. 10ftx8ftx3inches of water = nearly a thousand pounds. Wash it while it's already on top of the car because you'll never be able to lift it.
Thank you! Completely did not think of that and I have a 10x8 shag rug that desperately needs to be washed.
I saw where someone used a floor squeegee to squeeze the water out of the shag before rolling it back up.
Lmao this was hilarious to think about 😊
Yup. Had this exact issue. Thank goodness i did it in the back yard. I had to prop it up to drain for two days in the sun before i could getit back in the house

Great, thanks! How long did it take for rug to dry?
Love this! So smart, just what I needed...how to clean a carpet on a budget! Thank you 🙏
Brilliant...thats how I did my big artificial silk trees! I never thought of my area rugs. Better than using a carpet cleaner!
Maybe prewash the carpet in your hubby’s pickup bed and once you go to carwash you can give a good rinse
I love this! Most of the videos I watched showed them doing it in the driveway. I have a shared driveway and can't do that. This is great! I'm going to do it this afternoon. Thank you for sharing.
Would have loved to get a before and after on the rug, how clean did it get? Did the soap come out?
You ROCK. We took our area rugs to car wash today. It was awesome. You're brilliant. Thank YOU.
That’s great to hear. So glad it worked for you
This was informative AND adorable. Thank you!
This was thrilling to watch
I live in a condo so there is no driveway or area for me to wash or dry my large outdoor rug (I have a screened-in porch with lots of plants and furniture so that is not an option). THANK YOU for this idea it's brilliant!
Dude! This was hilaaarious and actually a good idea! Wonder if it would work on a shag rug! Felt like you were in a game show! 😂 👏 👏 👏

Michael, when you mentioned the Windex (w/o ammonia), do you mix that in altogether with the 91% rubbing alcohol, Dawn and vinegar? Thanks
I can’t believe I have never thought of this 🤙😂

Yes save try this idea !
Pretty good idea! thx
That is a really good idea

This is GENIUS!!! Definitely doing this sometime soon.
Wow great idea, I am going to try it.
you guys outplayed the system 😂 love this
Awesome idea! Tried it ... great results! Thank u and God bless!
Wow never would have thought! Girl how dis it turn out?! I really wanted to see! Great Idea!! Tfs
I have a pressure washer in my garage. My husband washes the rugs this way.
I thought I was the only one who had this idea! Thanks for sharing. I just need a huge truck now.
Hi there.
I put mine one the garden table.
On the 6 garden seats.
On my grand child garden house.
Thank you all for your blessed ideas ❤
You’re a genius! I’m doing this on Sunday 😂
If you have a lite colored rug w/ a dark backing, do not flip it over while wet. The dye will bleed through to the light colored side.🤦🏽♀️ Hence: I have black dye on my cream rug
Thanks for the tip! Sorry that happened to you! After 2 years, I'm sure you have a new rug and won't do that again!
@@candyislander3563 haha! I actually bought a huge white rug and cant keep this one cleaner either. This comment made me realize that I'm addicted to light colored rugs and still haven't learned my lesson. Lol
New design then? 😊
So how have I never seen your videos?! I just happened to be looking up how to clean my son's carpet and your video popped up in the options!! At first glance I'm liking what I see. I'm about to look around some more. 🙏🏾Thanks for sharing! 💙Andrea
Dang, never thought of this. A great idea, Neesie.
Lol 😂 this awesome 👏🏾 but I don’t have a truck I need to figure this thing out ASAP

Perch the wet rug across lawn chairs, saw horses, whatever keeps the air around it flowing freely

Nicely done! Great idea
This is genius!! I love it! I’m most definitely gonna try this!!!
Not me googling "nearest car wash" 😂😅😊
Cleanish (unless the area closest to the cabin was due to shadows)
Hi from Miami
Great tip
Bloody hell, what a GENIUS idea!!!!!! Oh my goodness, fantastic! I’ve got a pressure washer and cleaning liquid, I think I’ll give that a go! Thank You so much. 😊😊😊
Did you power wash at home? How'd it turn out?
oooooo you just made me realize how i’m going to wash my son’s melissa and doug round the town rug!!!!

COOL COOOOOL I DIDN'T THINK OF THIS WAY WOW IM GOING TO GO DO THIS THANKS ONCE AGAIN
Never thought of taking my rug to a car wash, thank you, I will be there tomorrow
Where is that rug from? It’s gorgeous! 😍
Wow! This is a great idea I will do this going forward because I just got my area rugs cleaned but unfortunately they don't stay clean for very long.
This is a fantastic idea but how in the world do you dry it???
That's right Lashanda you gots it goin on, clean carpet and all yall.
That was a very informative video. Thanks so much for posting. I had no idea on how to clean this rug.

Ya know, it's the simple things you never think of......this is a great idea!
Squeegee the rug to speed up dry time and to push out the dirty water it retains.
This is soooooo smart! Can’t wait to try it!
Great idea! Thanks for sharing!
Your video is great!! Just wish you had a before and after pic so we could see how well stains came out. :)
Bayyybee this just made my day because i was about to throw away the rug before i paid $300 a piece.
First off, I think I saw a Gator sweatshirt so of course.....Go Gators! This was a helpful video, thanks!
Awesome!! I'm doing this to my rug!
Very smart idea!
Damn I couldn't of ever thought about this great 👍🏻 thank you

How do you transport it after it has been washed if you do not have a truck? :(
What state is this where you wash your own car with coins? We don’t have those in jersey
Yooo this is a smart idea!
Yikes! I imagine its damp the next day. Sun hits it over 75°F I see it drying but if it takes longer than 24 hours to dry its gonna get funky!!
They used to have carpet clips for your carpets in the car.
this is genius! I'm trying the clips tomorrow
Never thought to take it to the car wash. Thanks for the great tip!
Friken genius I’m gonna try this!
Very very good idea 💕
This is a great idea!
What a brilliant idea 👏👏👏
Good idea
Doesn't previously washed cars oil, dirt, crime, grease and other gross stuff seep onto your rug from being on the drain and concrete area..?
OMG u guys!!
I love the idea! definitely I'll try to do it .
You mentioned that you have indoor/outdoor rugs. Do you think that this would work with a regular area rug? My rugs are not fancy expensive ones. They do need a good wash. ;)

Good idea! But I am curious as to why you work while dude is films? Seems it should be the other way around.
Cuz she's the STAR of the SHOW!!!
great idea
This was fun to watch especially with the countdown 🤣
How do you dry it in the winter?
Probably place it in a tub loosely rolled and standing keep a fan circulating.
