Again, it's a horrible no-call.
Hopefully Darrisaw's injury isnt severe and can come back in a few weeks because that 2nd half of the game quessenberry got tossed around a few times. Also the Officiating and penalties since the Jets game imo are alot more frequent, I mean they were handing Rams a number of first downs on PI that shouldnt even be a penalty. When teams are getting to your quarterback regularly, where is the screen game and the quick hit west coast offense type plays? That is exactly what McVey and Stafford did to make the Vikes D look NCAA division II level. Why did we stop running the ball in the 2nd and 3rd quarter? I'm beginning to question KOC's ability to adapt and adjust.
KOC was doing this last year too and by the end of the year a lot of us were over it. He's been a highly questionable play caller, esp in the second halves of games.

Amen brother. To every word you said here. 6 days ago they were the best defense in the country. They have to get back to that level. Have to !!!!!!! There is nothing wrong with Sam . 💜💜💜🏈👍🙏
Good observations in the post. I have some additional underscoring and points. Sam is taking too long passing, that is a problem. The Vikings have problems run blocking, that’s why we pitch a lot. Last night, the D was on union break…or something…that or Rams O Line juiced up with a pre game super soldier serum. Rams pass blocking was outstanding. The face mask was indicative of the poor state of NFL officiating. I wasn’t surprised at all.
No one talks about how important cashman is to our defense , he’s our mic and he puts everyone in the right position , these past 2 games you can see how lost we’ve been without him… once he returns should solve a few of are problems … but we defly need to be all in for a true interior d line player .. we desperately need some one who can collapse the Oline …
I honestly wanna know why we’re going soon as we get second half we get some kind of lead potentially. Let’s just run to clock out or be at the start of the third-quarter and it’s just run the clock out.
So disappointed with Dallas Turner so far. I'm not calling him a bust, but man we are getting nothing from a guy we traded a lot for and was hyped to be the next big thing.
I think other teams have watched film and figured us out. Our play calling is predictable, as is Flores defence. The fact that we continue to perform badly in the second half of games is confirmation of that. And I agree that Darnold is NOT the problem. Give Darnold the protection that Stafford had and he probably would have been perfect. As it was, I thought he played great, despite having no protection.
I dont think the defense is predictable, but I think its very easy to break. Analysts have talked about the key to breaking his defense is accepting quick short passes along with runs. Flores defense is great at stopping deeper to slower developing passes, but mature QBs that are able to accept quick hitters underneath have been hurting the D. I also think We are underestimating the impact of cashman not having the green dot
1st quarter is the teams best on offense, nothing after that for a offensive head coach. 0 sacks on Stafford sums up the defense, plus refs calling 5 penalties on 3rd down 2 ending up leading to 14 points. Why isn't KOC doing slant routes and short passes like these teams having success vs our defense? They are making Darnold hold the ball longer and when guys are covered hes left out to dry. The o line isn't bad but they can't hold up for big plays.
Andy, as usual, On the Money (OTM)! Rule #1 - Get to the QB Rule #1b - Protect your QB Rule 2 - Rinse and repeat This team is still a very good team with a ton of potential Butt, they’ve got to tighten up their “ish” and get back to kicking some A. LFG…Skol
I feel like Hock coming back AND being down Darrisaw is going to open up more of our short passing game which is something I think we need more of. I’d rather pick up 4-5 yards on second down than take a sack or throw a 40yd incompletion.
IMO we need to trade Addison, I don’t love his body language and the way he carries himself, doesn’t seem like a great fit for our squad and the culture. Plus he’s got the trade value that we need to fortify other positions, like DT!
I had a fleeting thought yesterday after the Darrisaw news. Is there a team in the last two years that has lost big contributors to season ending injuries? Hock, Kirk, JJ, Darrisaw, and I think I’m missing one. Plus Jackson passing away. Those are hard to take as a fan.
Nailer's touchdown drop was huge, if I'm throwing you a touchdown ball that hits you in the chest, I might not be so quick to come back to you any time soon. Lack of concentration in a very close one score game, unacceptable!
Team needs to tackle better... defense seemed a little old on the back end. Need to get a young corner. Darnold also made some critical mistakes shouldn't have rushed the 1st and goal after JJ catch and should've just tuck and run instead of hitting Nailerr on run.
They looked old and tired. The bye week is a momentum killer. There needs to be a strategic change in direction. We will have a couple draft picks again next year and there are quite a few players that are well past their "best if used by" dates.
12 days ago I looked at the schedule and thought there was no game they couldn't win. 12 days later, same schedule, and I'm seeing a 10-7 team at the very best, and possibly worse. They're going to need at least two MAJOR trades (probably OL and DL) just to get back to level. Unfortunately, no trade's gonna fix the coaching errors and stupid penalties, so there's that. Interested to see what the next 10 days will hold. 😐🏈
I'm a Michigan fan...but did you really just say you have the next Tom Brady waiting in the wings? You have the next best QB in history waiting in the wings with JJ?? I really like the kid but you might want to rethink that take at this point.
@@miamisasquatch I admire the hope. But you are talking to someone who watched all of his Michigan games. He has never ever been asked to digest a pro play book. Michigan plays mostly garbage teams, and he never had a signature QB game. Big plays, but we ran the ball 40 times a game. I want him to do well, but we were all a little shocked when you took him in the first round. We never knew what we really had with him. He definitely has up side though. Just saying you might want to see him take a snap before comparing him to the greatest ever. See you in week 18 in Detroit
@@randyhambright6547Hope is all we have here... If you take that away there's nothing left. He's the next Tom Brady until he's not. Just like the Vikings are lifting the Lobardi every season... until they are not. You get the point. 😁
@@r0bs1904 I was honestly nervous as a Lion's fan last week. I think you guys are damn good! The Ram's offense is an absolute bitch to deal with when Puca is healthy. The NFL comes down to who makes the biggest plays at the end of the game.. unfortunately you don't have a stone cold 4th quarter decision maker at QB.
Puka comes back after 2 days on the 21 day window. Why can't we activate Hockenson? He would of been a difference maker last week and again last night. Risner needs to get in there too.
2016 all over again. They never fail to disappoint the fans, they got their butts whipped on national tv, and they absolutely stink in EVERY phase of the game EXCEPT kicker.
1) That was one of the worst officiated NFL games I have watched in recent memory. They practically handed LA 14pts off of severely weak holding calls (no illegal contact calls on the other side fwiw....). 2) Our Defense seems to have been replaced by aliens, a la spaceJam, and no longer know how to stop the run, get a sack, create mad pressure. We either blitz and are wildly successful, or we give up a huge play, and there doesn't seem to be an in between for us. Our secondary has been very questionable. PENALTIES guys, ffs! 3) 5-2 is great, but you can see it on everyone's face when things don't go our way and then its like the whole team gets in their own heads and we fall apart. It's maddening. I hope we can get our act together and find a way to play through the 2nd half of the year bc we don't look like the team we were the first 4-5 games.
It's ok, koc needs to have simpler and quicker plays called, JJ needs 8/10 targets a game and TJ and Addison need 5 each . Hand Aaron jones the ball at least 15 times get him more involved in the pass game. Get cashman back and let Flores tweak the defense we'll be fine. It isn't fun to lose 2 in a row but 5-2 isn't the worst spot
There are times we go all out blitz and QB's launch these moon balls that our defenders can locate. They started doing it last year, and are doing it again. We were flat yesterday, fatigued. We'll be fine
But it is Darnold, it’s not just these loses, he has been poor after the scripted plays in all the wins. Mullens knows the playbook and can gets Jets 150 yards per game and feed Addison.
The Vikings never recovered mentally from the Lions loss. Their football mentality on consistency stinks as their inability to execute a complete offensive game.
Maybe Andy will now realize how much Stafford is than Darnold..I think things with him were misconstrued due to all the injuries and bad oline. I hope Andy now sees who the better QB is and maybe we SHOULD trade for a legit superbowl winning QB vs the guy that's a really good backup..AT BEST!!!!!
I’m not having much hope in this team anymore this season even though there’s still more than half of the season left. First 5 games they really tried to win, now they are gonna start dwindling down and lose. That 7-10 prediction is looking pretty accurate now.
Correct - missed facemask (Isn't their entire responsibility back there to be watching the QB) does not cause a loss. Bad call on 3rd which led to a TD maybe causes a loss. Next ticky-tacky call on 3rd down which also led to TD HMMMM, really close to causing a loss. Totality of all calls DOES = loss. Meditate on that. Refs do it again. Unbelievably bad performance by that crew
We have a superbowl team with a coach, Oconnell, who is mediocre as a play caller. More data won't help. Oconnell= run run pass=forced--he is the problem to the offense, the play calling, etc. He could also have been using TEs for short passes in other games. Darnold is not a clutch player when under pressure. Need to get rid of Oconnell if he can't change and admit HE is the play caller that is putting the Vikes into pressure situations. Put Andy Reid as a coach, and this team soars. Oconnell will never be a super bowl coach unless he learns, and so far he is blaming penalties, etc.
Can’t fathom why Addison gets less than 4 targets a game
Addison is just mid. Time to accept it.

"Why did we draft AP, we need a qb and we have chester. Watch this be a bust"
"Culpepper is the man, randy moss didn't make him"
"Screw those draft picks, walker is the final piece."
"2024 vikings defense is above 2017 defense"
"Dobbs is special"
"Ponder is the future"
"Mark my words, troy w will tear this league wide open"
"We are screwed without teddy"
Same story different year
That's a description of basically every vikings team ever. Except 1998.
Vikings offense 1st 15 plays (A tale of two offenses)

Yes, the Defense isn't working, but our offense has a Jekyll/Hide personality.
Amen brother. To every word you said here. 6 days ago they were the best defense in the country. They have to get back to that level. Have to !!!!!!! There is nothing wrong with Sam . 💜💜💜🏈👍🙏
I knew I would regret the excitement for the 5-0 start... this team can earn my respect back!
So you're saying having 3 over the hill and way past their prime DBs was a bone headed idea by the maestro of analytics Kwesi?
Good observations in the post. I have some additional underscoring and points. Sam is taking too long passing, that is a problem. The Vikings have problems run blocking, that’s why we pitch a lot. Last night, the D was on union break…or something…that or Rams O Line juiced up with a pre game super soldier serum. Rams pass blocking was outstanding. The face mask was indicative of the poor state of NFL officiating. I wasn’t surprised at all.
Addison massive let down
Agree that no one’s gettin home on the blitz, but they were holding a lot with no calls
Both sides of the ball have been exposed!
This was a mess .. better clean it up or we are tanking fast
I honestly wanna know why we’re going soon as we get second half we get some kind of lead potentially. Let’s just run to clock out or be at the start of the third-quarter and it’s just run the clock out.
We looked undisciplined, and not ready to play
So disappointed with Dallas Turner so far. I'm not calling him a bust, but man we are getting nothing from a guy we traded a lot for and was hyped to be the next big thing.
I agree with all your statements. Well said
Loving that Timberwolf jersey!💚🔥
U keep it real best Vikings pod
The Honolulu flu is real.
Rule #1 - Get to the QB
Rule #1b - Protect your QB
Rule 2 - Rinse and repeat
This team is still a very good team with a ton of potential Butt, they’ve got to tighten up their “ish” and get back to kicking some A.
LFG…Skol
Dallas Turner was drafted in the first round to play special teams?
KOC cannot playcall after the first quarter. Good at scripting but not good at adjusting.
I have no faith in the Vikings defense anymore.
Right he could have gotten the 1st down.....
Keep in mind we have a young corner who should be starting, hes just out for the year.
Addison had 2 TDs a few games ago. I don’t know what happened to him…
You actually do the Best Podcast... too bad you like Vikings!
Dumpster Fire! Game
They looked old and tired. The bye week is a momentum killer.
There needs to be a strategic change in direction. We will have a couple draft picks again next year and there are quite a few players that are well past their "best if used by" dates.
Darnold played phenomenal last night. That nailor drop pretty much sealed the deal for the Rams
We need Cashman to be the general manager out there!
There's more pressure in the back of my britches after eating baked beans, then the vikes defense had last night.
Nope... Don't get us wrong, we're not saying McCarthy is the second coming of TB12... I mean TB12 wasn't nearly as mobile....
The NFL comes down to who makes the biggest plays at the end of the game.. unfortunately you don't have a stone cold 4th quarter decision maker at QB.
some one should put a video together with the draft capital used and what we have received for that capital for the past three drafts !!!!
I'm waiting for the boat trip receipts to find out what happened since London!
Puka comes back after 2 days on the 21 day window. Why can't we activate Hockenson? He would of been a difference maker last week and again last night. Risner needs to get in there too.
Gilmore looks like he's avoiding contact. He's playing soft
Might as well of just not of played if your going to perform like that
2016 all over again.
Should be called Purple FTL, cuz all we fixin to do is lose
They gotta clean it up...but safety is a scoring play under 2 min....should be reviewable
There probably is like a 10-20% chance that McCarthy ends up being a franchise QB. That is just the odds with these young QB's.
To be Frank Friday
vikings allegedly have a good defense LOL
Question for everyone how did the Vikings act after the game if they were smiling then that is bad.
Nailer is finally healthy and has turned into a jinx ala cousin Oliver from the Brady Bunch!
Let’s get Thielen back. We need another dawg at receiver that gets it.
Playcalling by KOC is ass, it's so vanilla and predictable. He never let's Darnold get in a rhythm
There are times we go all out blitz and QB's launch these moon balls that our defenders can locate. They started doing it last year, and are doing it again. We were flat yesterday, fatigued. We'll be fine
Season ends on a Reichard miss he never recovers from just to put the cherry on top
You can't have JJ get 8 catches and the next guy get 2
But it is Darnold, it’s not just these loses, he has been poor after the scripted plays in all the wins. Mullens knows the playbook and can gets Jets 150 yards per game and feed Addison.
WHY IN THE HELL IS TURNER NOT ON THE FEILD WE DRAFTED HIM TO RUSH THE PASSER NOT PLAY SPECIAL TEAMS
