Good information; I just built a blowback PCC in 9MM using a JP barrel. Nice shooter . . . ran my normal loads through the chrono on my CZ75 and the 16 inch PCC the same day for comparison. Used Acme coated lead bullets, my own powder coating on cast lead, and Berry's plated. Used 115, 145, and 105 grains to see how things would go. Load with Tightgroup (haven't found Bullseye in stock for years, though it is my favorite pistol powder) and small rifle primers.
I list the power factor here too:
Caliber Bullet Weight Powder Charge Vel. P.F. Gun
    9MM Acme 145 Tightgroup 3 977 141 PCC
    9MM Acme 145 Tightgroup 3 925 135 CZ
    9MM Acme 115 Tightgroup 4.3 1344 154 PCC
    9MM Acme 115 Tightgroup 4.3 1217 140 CZ
    9MM Berry 115 Tightgroup 4.3 1304 149 PCC
    9MM Berry 115 Tightgroup 4.3 1176 135 CZ
    9MM Cast 105 Tightgroup 4.2 1228 130 CZ
    9MM Cast 105 Tightgroup 4.2 1378 144 PCC
Everything ran fantastic and this is a good basis to see if there is room for improvement. Tightgroup is also a fast burning powder. As a side note, the 145 Acme sounded suppressed from the PCC (only the JP Muzzle device is installed).

Im very tempted to run subsonic 150gr just for good times. Literally going to test 122s and 127s today. Thank you for sharing your hard work!

I've limited experience. I've only use Berry FMJ in 124-135 & 147. I've used several different powder/projectile combos and with chrono and range work come up with two best loads. Pistol 124grn CFE
    Carbine 147grn Blue dot.

CFE is dirty dirty dirty at minor PF.

@@johntempest267 I don’t mean they make black stuff in your gun. Lmao. I mean it leaves unburnt powder behind. Cfe notoriously at minor pf loads.
Since you have “limited experience” maybe you should take it as advice to try other powders. Or you can just tell me to clean my gun. lol. Feel free to click my picture and see what background I have on the subject.

I have many different powders, and have tried them. I get good consistent results with cfe, and I don't see unburnt power left in the barrel you reported. I appreciate your expertise and experience.
Maybe you said notoriously but meant supposedly?

Wish my GMR would actually run the flat nose and hollow points. Only thing it will run is ball

The problem is that there is no guide for a 16" inch barrel .. the data that they are providing most of the time is out of a 4" barrel . I am using We think that even Dirty Harry himself possibly used Vihtavuori N350 in his famous .44 Rem Mag, when looking at his infallible shooting accuracy!
Vihtavuori N350 is the slowest in the N300 series of handgun powders. It is ideal for very heavy loadings and top velocities and energies for a broad range of pistol and revolver cartridges. The grain size (1,0 mm length and 0,8 mm diameter) is exactly the same than N320, N330 and N340; it is the porosity of the powder that makes all the difference in burning characteristics. N350 is very well suited to loading powerful rounds for example in calibers 9 mm Luger, 10 mm AUTO and .45 ACP. With the slow burning speed, it is ideal for very heavy and top end velocities and energies for a broad range of pistol and revolver cartridges. N350 is widely used in pistol shooting and especially in practical shooting.

Great info! One question, what COAL works best with the Hornady HAP 125gr for the JP-5 in your experience?

So, do you not recommend the Bullseye at all for 147gn FMJ in a PCC?

Im looking to load the 147 coated hard cast for a Ruger PC carbine, what would be a good powder to get higher velocity out of a 16 inch barrel.

I’m not JP obviously, but I read from a reliable source that the standard pressure (not +P) HST and Gold Dot 147s are running well. They are expanding reliably while penetrating through the proper amount of gel. The +P were getting too fast out of PCCs and disintegrating before penetrating enough.
