Good to see the Fiesta bud back on youtube, Loving the content on patreon atm and good to see you brought this video to youtube, I too had gear box issue's at one point, Went down the route of thinking its the box it self. It wasn't it kept being stiff, Even till this day i still have issue's. Im going to give this ago looks simple enough and if it works. You deserve a crown lol ( I hate the fiesta gear box's lol ) Good work let us know how it is now
Use a flat head to get the e-clip off - dead easy. Pry bar to pull it off too. Drill bit 12mm.
yes very easy with flat head.
It's a Cir Clip and if you use a small flat screw driver pushed into the back and twist they pop off no problems

Did the gears feel notchy or crunchy before? I'm having the same problem mostly in 1st 2nd and 3rd. Seems too loosen up when the engine is warm. Did this help?
Hey I've got on ford fiesta mk6 all gears work perfely fine apart from reverse it will not go in reverse at all and yesterday while my my mum was driving the engine was running at the lights when at dead stop I could smell a burning smell coming from somewhere any ideas
Typical fiestas they always have a burning smell somewhere, either that or oil leak! best check around the back of the engine. Reverse sometimes crunches yeah typical fiesta gearbox's made from jelly! Try going in 1st gear and then back into reverse to stop crunching 🫡
I have the problem with being really stiff for revers have to be aggressive in and out
Great video mate. I have almost same problem with my ford fiesta. Problem started after i heard a loud sound i heard that sounded like tiny ballon poping off or and a hard plastic rod broken while I was driving in motor way. I was not shifting gear when i heard that sound. After driving about 30 mins in trafic light i could not put in first gear. This problem is not frequent bout happens in time to time even in 2nd gear and reverse gear. Any one has any idea whats wrong?
Ahh yeah that can happen. These gear boxes are crap on the fiestas. I hear these issues all the time on the fiesta pages people talking about how weak the boxes are on the fiesta mk6s. I agree these boxes are like jelly they also don't hold up to high torque very well can break teeth off gears or even destroy a G-box. Alot of people talk about converting to a GTx75 G-box slightly stronger but you need alot of other ford parts to make it fit and work on the fiesta.

What size drill did you use?
Think it was just shy of 12mm gotta be almost same size as the hole it self and just slightly widen the hole and fill with grease for a smoother feel

@@minulachis No worries bud, we've all gotta stay together and help each other owning these cars. Tbh mate you could of easily done this job your self save your self some garage hourly rates lol Since I've done this to my gear linkage I've had no more stiff gears. Even when it gets hot the metal pin used to expand and then stiff gears would happen. But now nothing but smoother gear changes. 👌Hope yours gets sorted for ya bud 👍
@@ajfocus that’s true, we all need to help each other 😀 I also had to do the timing belt and thought to do that also. I needed a lift and the tools to do this job, which I don’t have at my disposal unfortunately 😥
As others have said, it's a cir clip. Proper tool is cir clip pliers. Other than that, handy video.
Misleading it's not fixing the gearbox 😆 They are rods, done them on many Mk6 Ford Fiestas.
On mine I noticed when going in third it's stiff to get into gear. I noticed this only happens on a cold Day
Yeah I also had this issue only cold days certain gears above 3rd or 4th would get stiff some times wouldn't even get 4th or 5th or even reverse had to really knock it around in neutral for a second to get it to work. But after fixing it in this video, gears have been perfect no stiffness on cold days, or even when it gets hot still gets into gear easy.
