Hey Chris, nice video. One other thing that deserves mention is that insurance companies will fully cover FSD if purchased with the vehicle new. I see people commenting all the time that it is not worth it because you lose it if you get into a car accident. This is not true as long as the FSD was purchased with the vehicle.
Good call! I agree! Thanks Jeff!
Do you mean, if for some reason you totaled your car they would insure FSD as equipment that was lost in the accident?
@@aa72on yea. Fully covered. At least when bought with the vehicle new.
What if I bought a used Model Y where original owner got new with FSD?
@@jefe7987 don’t believe they will cover then.
I wanted FSD after spine surgery since my other car was a manual Corvette and too painful to drive. I've used fsd beta every day for years.
All I can say is that a full self driving is $15,000 or 199 a month thats 75 months (over 6 years) . It is non-transferable so paying monthly, Makes sense if you plan on not keeping the car for over six years . Also from what I researched if you own it outright you can transfer it over to new owner as long as the car is sold privately..
Hey Chris! I recently found your videos, and have been really enjoying them. Keep up the great content and your enthusiasm!
thanks doom!!!
So if I purchase full self driving I still have to apply to use it? I’m about to buy my first Tesla and am trying to figure out all the options. Thanks for any information.
Man your videos are really helpful! ❤
I was able to get FSD and accel boost baked into my purchase when I bought a used Model 3 LR AWD from Tesla earlier this year. It was a lot easier factoring it in that way, I as opposed to having to make the decision later. Within about 3 months, I qualified for the beta and like you, I'm waiting for the new update. Hopefully by this time next week. I'm excited to try it.
one day we will get 10.6.9.2 and get all these features like moving your bsm camera
@@EverydayChris Right? I don't know about you, but I keep checking my phone a few times a day hoping to see that the software is available to download! Argh!! It must be brutal for a UA-cam influencer like you to have gone this long without any new updates! It has been three months for me. Tesla spoiled us! LOL
Super late comment but just curious how was your experience buying directly thru Tesla? Currently on the fence about a used model 3. Just sketched out about the part we’re you can’t see the car till you buy it part
@@cactusjack1703 I had the exact same reservations as you are having now. I had never purchased a used vehicle sight unseen. But my expectations were far exceded. The white seats looked new, the wheels and paint were flawless. I've since put about 25k miles on it since the purchase and it continues to be an excellent vehicle that STILL looks and drives like it new.
Unless you’re planning to keep the car for more than 7 years, I think it’s cheaper to just do the fsd subscription instead
Right. But it also can make sense if you are financing the vehicle and bought the FSD with the vehicle because the additional cost for the FSD per month is actually LESS than the subscription cost depending on how long you are financing for. Also I think the subscription rate will be going up soon.
@@Sushibaka69 That’s a good point. You’re probably right, I think it’s way too overpriced already tho if you ask me.
@@brandonkienzler4842 I agree. 6 to 8k max but if people are willing to pay, Musk will continue increasing.
@@Sushibaka69 Yeah, it feels like they are taking advantage of customers, but they don’t have very much competition
Why u goons pay rent if u can own it and sell it
How long do you get Full Self Driving for, is it for life? Does it need to be purchased for each Tesla you own? Is it transferable to other family members or to a new owner if you sell your Tesla?
I always get confused between fsd capability and computer. O have ordered Model Y and will be delivered in august. Maybe a silly question, but I still dont have the answer. I have ordered the car without fsd capability. Can i upgrade the car to have fsd capability later on to use fsd? Or is it not possible to upgrade the car afterwards?
Yes can upgrade easily after
Can you make a video about premium interior model s?
How to i get the cover off the air plug on the X 22’’ wheel. Very tight.
I have a quick tip on it!!
My problem with paying for fsd is it won’t follow you when you buy a new car. Stays with old car
Is this true I would have thought he would have made it transferable.
@@drakebrownlee8094 of course not. How else is Elon going to make even more money. Transferable meaning it will be transferred to the new owner of your old car
I love the innovations Tesla is doing. I’m actually thinking of buying one myself. That being said, if the goal is to build a car where you just get in and it takes you wherever you want to go without the need of you driving it, I think that loses the whole point of owning a car.. I think is a good idea for the elderly.. but the point of a car is freedom, being able to driving it yourself, having control over it.. it feeds into that instinc we all have to dominate a bigger animal and put on practice our skills and reflexes.
balls of steel for the first few clips. good vid
I'm taking delivery of my model y within 2 months. I can still add on FSD for $10k, but on the fence about it. Its not worth it in its current state, but def feeling the FOMO if Elon can deliver on his promises within the next 5-6 years. Also I will be insuring the car through Tesla, so I would hope that that cover FSD if I do decide to get it.
didn't he promise it 5-6 years ago lol
How can I get
😱 so much to learn. I just learned from Janice that free autopilot 😂😂😂
It is very difficult to find an insurance company that will cover the cost of the FSD if car is totalled. This is something to consider. Who know what Tesla will charge for a monthly subscription it could be very high as well.
Not sure where you heard this. Both GEICO and Tesla insurance will cover and I believe most reputable companies will. I was told that it will cover FSD as long as you purchased it with the vehicle. Just like it would with any other options that existed with a new vehicle.
@@Sushibaka69 I will look into Geico since Tesla insurance is not available in my state (yet).
Hi Chris. Do you know if they have improved phantom breaking after 2022.24.6 update?
should be improved. i'm on the fsd beta software so i dont have the exact version as you
Thanks for responding Chris. Do you know which ports can be used for wired game controller in 2022 3/Y. I heard only the one in dash works now so no multiplayer:(
Right now you can daisy chain the glovebox since now the ones in the center console are For charging
@@EverydayChris thank you Chris!
Autopilot is the ultimate road tripping tool.
does it worth upgrade to enhanced version from basic? if someone has the enhanced version, if he/she wants to upgrade to FSD, would it be a 12k all over again?
No wouldn’t be full price since you have enhanced already!
They took away the sonar. RIP smart parking and smart summon.
I’m sure it will come back
I’d be more inclined to get FSD if it could transfer to another vehicle. For example, if my car gets declared totaled by insurance and I get another Tesla. Currently,I believe FSD is tied to a specific vehicle. It is uncertain if insurance would add in the cost of FSD when calculating the value of the car or how they might depreciate such a feature.
would be cool sucks you cant
I have model 3 on order and debating if I should spring for enhanced autopilot. 6k surcharge is quite an upsell. But $12k is just way too much for product that doesn't work. Yeah, if it would give me level 5 it would make sense as we could use a single car for so much more . If I could send a car to pick up kids from school after it drops me off at work then it would be a no brainer.
I agree
I have a new model y performance and I purchased the fsd for $12,000. I didn’t know that you need a safety score of 98 and above to qualify! Didn’t know that bs! My score is 65. They say I accelerate too quickly and turn too aggressively. Wtf is the point of the performance then!
Lol true hopefully anyone who requests it will get it soon
I too have a model 3 on order. It's my first ever EV, and I can't see myself spending $15,000 on a beta. The very notion that we have to pay thousands upon thousands of dollars for something that doesn't work yet is bonkers. However, I did purchase the enhanced autopilot because I do want to get as close to the full Tesla experience that I can, and now that enhanced auto pilot is back I figured this was the best way to do it. I take delivery in December, and I can't imagine a better Christmas present!
@@damonekstrom4363 I have to admit it’s pretty nice (fsd) on the freeway. I would be too nervous anyways using it on the streets.
Is ap1 with convenience better than fsd ?
no way. AP3 all the way
What about enhanced autopilot, thought it’s expensive 6k. It gives auto park and summon. Even a Mazda does auto park so it would be weird to have a Tesla (supreme technology car) without a auto park feature.
Enhanced auto pilot is a way better value right now
8 Chris you put out a pretty good product right here and it's a pretty good video you put out! However, what I would like to know is when will Tesla full self-driving be available for the blind? Because sooner or later Tesla's will have full self-driving when you buy them.
Would be nice but I don’t trust it yet
Hey Chris, what is on your steering wheel?
Counter weight! Helps avoid the nag as much when on long road trips.
@@EverydayChris Cool, that’s what I was thinking. The wife does not like the idea (but I don’t care!). Any suggestions on decently priced ones?
I am only interested in the basic Auto Pilot (AP) on the Tesla. Can i use this feature on normal 2 lane highways? Does basic Auto Pilot slow down and stop if we come up on another vehicle? Comparing to the "Adaptive Cruise Control" in GM Chevy vehicles.
i do not need EAP because I would never use auto park, and Summon features. Feel they are a waste of money to have them. And like I said, I don't do Freeways.
I do not need FSD with the type of driving i do, and I don't drive on any Freeways being now retired, plus the cost to even having it. The Tesla vehicles are expensive enough without adding FSD to the vehicle. Thinking about getting an EV in 2024 so looking at all the features of all the Electric cars.
Thanks for the video, but you don't go into all these features in any detail operation wise. I wanted to know if basic Auto Pilot works on regular roads.
im sure you figured out the answers to these question in the past 3 weeks. what did you decide on? if you still have questions though i got you let me know
Of course it depends on your driving needs. If I lived in SoCal or another place with bonkers traffic and if I did a lot of road trips, maybe I'd consider the enhanced AP. But for my needs, I really wouldn't use it, especially now for that ridiculous price. That's just too much for continued empty promises. Oh, and you know what, I actually like driving too. Level 0 for me!
I agree way overpriced but if you have the money and you want it go for it life is short!
hi chris. I see you have the counter weight on your steering wheel. does it work? does it leave any marks on the steering wheel? thanks
I have the same question. Also where did you get them? I see them on EBay but they cost a lot more than on AliExpress.
@@carlos31820 I found that same exact one on eBay and it was only like $35. Came from overseas but packaging and product was A++.
@@Sushibaka69 thanks Jeffrey. Did you order the clamp style or the magnetic one that looks like a doughnut?
@@carlos31820 same exact one Chris has. Can’t hardly see it. The clamp is on the backside. Just a small ring shows and it’s barely noticeable
@@Sushibaka69 I asked because the video shows both. If you look at 1:44 or so, you can see the doughnut type on the left side of the steering wheel.
how often do you do road trips? just get the FSD Sub when you need it, $15000 for couple road trip through out the life span of a tesla is unnecessary, the free auto pilot is already very very good. and it is free
Maybe once a month?
Purchase FSD in 2019 and still can’t get it..
I think the goal is for people to purchase the fsd and then use robotaxi to pay off the car. Lol
Bro need to work on volume leveling in your edits. Opening music just about blew out my speakers lol then your dialog is vastly lower. Good content tho thanks
Damn thought it was good. Thanks man
@@EverydayChris was good for me!
I had no problem with volume leveling in this video
Pass on FSD right now. Its only supervised at the moment which means you have to keep your hands on the steering wheel or it will nag you and then disable FSD. Soooooo whats the point then? Answer: There is no point. Supervised FSD sucks.
Hard pass on FSD. If you’re on the fence, think about this: you can get another vehicle for that money. You can invest that money and make way more money. You can spend it all on chocolate. Whatever your heart desires. IT’S $15k!!!
The car is not intended for low class with min wage. 12k won’t save u! Go buy a Corolla
Does the FSD transfer to your next vehicle and do you see it as an investment in using vehicle as robo taxi for passive income?
Or you can pay 99 bucks a month for it, when needed , and not pay when you don't need it
@@MrsLydsWow, how elitist is that?
@@user-vx7vi3vq1c it’s the truth!! Why would u buy a luxury or high priced car if u cannot afford it ?
If I already have enhanced autopilot which cost $6,000 Will I have to pay the $15,000 to get FSD because then that's a total of $21,000
I don’t think so. Prov through the app you can upgrade and pay the difference
Not worth it. The car can barely handle freeways when the road is curvy and sucks at merging when cars are zippering.
12k is way to much already. 15 is just ludicrous. I’m going the route of paying for the subscription when I go on long road trips. I enjoy driving my tesla. I don’t wanna want to it driving my everywhere.
I'll give you 3 reasons to get it
1. Yeah $15k is expensive but software doesn't depreciate like rest of the car. It improves with updates so it's worth more over time
2. The FSD stays with the car, so if/when you sell the car, you can price in the cost of FSD in your selling price
3. If you like tech, this is one of the best techy things money can buy. You won't regret getting it
Software doesn’t but the car+ hardware does. And you will have to rebuy all that all over again.
1. Of course it does, Tesla includes it for FREE at the end of each quarter as an incentive to purchase used vehicles from them
2. Sure but the person has the opportunity to buy it themselves, unless someone specifically knows about it and wants it, they only see the price. Most people who can afford these cars like boomers, don't care yet.
3. Valid but you can regret it, depends on the person.
Everyone follow chris,He is the best
Get another car for that 15k!! Don’t buy the FSD, I have FSD but I seldom use it, I always wanna have control over my Tesla. Coz it’s not perfect and you still have to intervene most of the time.
Your voice sounds just like the “not another cooking show” guy
Elon is a smart man, however, in light of all the missed promises and capabilities a better marketing maneuver would be to sell it for two weeks at full price but at the end of two weeks, if it doesn’t live up to the promise, then full refund.
Anyone else watch TimTheTatMan, and surprised by the music?
Tesla should make them free at the current state, this will also help them to train the AI.
Only if the license follows the person- not the vehicle. Otherwise just subscribe
No I wont get FSD until its legally allowed and passed safety tests which might not be till 2030. Using it at the moment is dangerous and stressful. Its like having a teenage lerner driver behind the wheel. You have to be constantly on guard incase it doesnt something stupid. Its actually more stressful than actually driving
Agree can be stressfull
FSD should become free eventually when there are more competitors.
Chris give me a Tesla auto pilot
It's way too expensive 15G's is ridiculous.
Why are you not wearing shoes in your Tesla ?😅
Haha
It’s totally worth the money, otherwise why even bother buying a Tesla? Buy an other cheaper EV. And for me it’s better to include it on the purchase or pay it up front instead of a subscription especially if u plan keeping the car for many years.
Tesla cars AUTOPILOT MODE✌
Not worth it. If it was half the current cost and was lifetime for the buyer and followed me to any Tesla car like the new profiles do, then perhaps. It really should be included in the car for free. It would make Tesla the ONLY car to buy. But they will never do that until someone else does it first.
I ordered a M3 a couple days ago. I don't drive enough to justify a new car but I love the tech and can afford it. I've been considering it for months. Tesla is far ahead of everyone else. Then there is the charging network, no comparison here, Tesla for the win.
Been subbed for awhile, you and about 3 others have been my goto Tesla youtube sources. So many are just rehashing others reports and are unwatchable. Nothing wrong with the news but I want personal experiences as well.
Let us know!!! Usless info
Who would get a tesla?
Isn’t worth it at all. Yikes
FSD is a scam. I know many people who bought 2018 model 3, never got to use beta - sold the car. 😂
Better to just do the subscription $199 a month for the months you need.
Na, fuck dat
I need a boyfriend they can afford this because these eyes of mine won’t allow me to be great
You’re amazing the way you are
