FAT TONY SALERNO'S FAVOURITE HITMAN - THE STORY OF GENOVESE SOLDIER GEORGE BARONE
Вставка
- Опубліковано 18 тра 2021
- Genovese Family Soldier and a protege of both Anthony "Fat Tony" Salerno and Vito Genovese - George Barone led a long and violent criminal career.
This American Mafia documentary follows Barone's rise from the Westside streets of Manhattan to becoming a powerful Waterfront Racketeer and feared mob hitman. A man who's early career inspired the musical and film West Side Story.
This fascinating Cosa Nostra story features such notable names including: Vincent "Chin" Gigante, Benny Eggs Mangano, Matty the Horse Ianniello, and discusses the Mob's power on the docks of New York and their control of the Unions.
I love these lesser known tales you share. Interesting that someone who was only half Italian was made as early as 1974.
Love the Genovese Family Stories..
Yeah, they are some of my personal favourites to research.
Me too! They really are the "Gold standard " of the American mafia! Even today. SAMMY'S CHANNEL, THIS SHOW AND THE "MBA and The Button Man" are myn3 favorite Mob channels. "MOBFAX" too!
@@jfg1104 you have just named all of my favourites too, plus I'd throw in Jimmy Calandra's channel. Mobfax definitely deserves a mention as you say, that guy does superb work digging out archived footage for us
@@OCSHORTZ yes!!! I just found Jimmy Calandra channel a week ago! Great minds think alike. John Alites is getting better. I wish Larry Mazza and Anthony Arillota would do a channel too! Salute my friend. Keep em coming! I LOVE your content. I really wanna hear about the Sicilians, Ndrangheta, Camorra, Sacra Corona Unita, Socièta Foggiana, LA Stidda . I was born in Italy (Calabria) and moved to America when I was 11, so I read the Italian newspapers about O.C
@@OCSHORTZ if your on Instagram there's a channel called @parliamodimafia (Let's talk about the mafia), these 2 SICILIAN law students absolutely KILL IT! PLUS they've read every italian book about organized crime. Obviously it's written in italian, but you can hit the translate button
hes actually my grandfather thank you for this, if you have more info id love to hear it. never actually met him
Barone is your grandfather? Did any relatives tell you any stories?
Who's you grand father George??
Keep em coming, loved it.
You’re stories are great
One of the best channels on UA-cam
Very kind of you to say.
Fabulous content! Love the unique angles you dig out x
Thank you Paul. Yeah, Barone is one of the lesser discussed but definitely interesting characters. There are some more stories on him that I will do in some further detail at a later date.
Keep these stories coming mate. Brilliant channel you have made, love it.
Loving this channel! Great content, haven't even heard of some of these guys before. Can see this channel getting big
Many thanks pal. Comments like yours make doing this worthwhile.
Started watching the MBA & the Button Man about 2 weeks back. Great info from the 80s & 90s. You deserved those accolades, your channel is really turning heads.
This George Barone video is great. I never realized that the Jets were an actual gang ! I've got more reading to do...
I noticed "The Sixth Family" on your book shelf.
One of my favourite books. There was also a famous gang fight in South Brooklyn that involved a young Carmine Persico and that was another inspiration for West Side Story apparently.
The Sixth Family is an awesome book. Crazy how big the Rizzutos got
Love these videos mate. Class stuff 👏
Thank you Lee. Hopefully have the next video up on Saturday.
Hey man, your videos are detailed but also concise and always enjoyable!
Thanks pal. Yeah, I can keep the short as figure no one wants to here my British accent for over 10 minutes! ha
I am completely hooked on these stories thank you so much ..regards bob
Thank you Bob. Glad you are enjoying the channel, I appreciate your support
These really are well done, thanks.
Thank you. My editing could be better, but I will get there! Thanks for your support
Pennisi vouched for this channel, then its legit. Well I was a subscriber before, but this takes it to another level in my book. Pennisi is the real deal, there is no lying in him, he's definitely one of my favorite ex-mobster's channel, tied with Jimmy Calandria. Can't wait for both their books.
I'm with you their, very much looking forward to reading their books too. Also, thank you for the kind words Ray.
Brilliant once again great clips
Thank you Gary. I hope you are well.
Good Job OC! I really enjoy your stories that I would not hear about elsewhere!! Two Thumbs Up Mate!
Thanks Mark. Yeah, I'm just trying to cover some characters and events that aren't usually discussed.
@@OCSHORTZ Keep these kind of stories going OC....they are a breath of fresh air. Going to some other Mob Channels all you get is "Rehashed Warmed Over Leftover Stories" that we've all heard before! Well now head to the Pub Lad....Drinks are on me!!! LOL!

Thank you pal, that is really appreciated
Great info again congrats on a good upload
Thank you pal
This fella has got to have one of the best in depth and most knowledgeable mob channels on the internet. Especially when you take into consideration he’s British. I absolutely love these videos.my only complaint is I wish they were a bit longer .
He just read the books that it it call research

Everything seemed (to me) came together in this episode in a way that made it like a story by Sammy Gravano. I kept pausing your video share to take notes of books and people to look up. LOL. No idea how many of your videos I have watched while not realizing how you rotate the text covers on the shelves. LOL, that is great! Thank you for all your hard work as well as your wonderful dialect.
Thank you Casey. That is a really kind comment. I always say I'm not an expert, I just enjoy sharing interesting information that I have researched and I am glad that it sparks some additional research from people like yourself! Thank you again, your support really is appreciated.
You, you're good you. Keep em coming that was a great story 👌
Was that an Analyse This quote? haha Love it!
Great 👍 video.
Awesome History of the Mafia.
Keep the video's coming. 👌
Hey Man, another great post, I was unaware of how tight George Barone was with Fat Tony. Thanks for sharing, love the channel and your bookshelf lol Ive got one very similar. Thanks again.
😂 We both have good taste in literature!
@@OCSHORTZ That we do, thanks again.
Ha - coming back to an older video nearly 2 years later, and it’s still great. But your production quality has improved since this time! Still pumping out the best info on the web.
Ha yes, production hopefully improving slowly but surely over the past two years. Glad you enjoyed it pal
How do you do it? Every single time you never cease to deliver. Hope you are having a good day.
Ha, I just get lucky - there is so many good stories our there to research! I'm good thanks Walter. Hope you are well too.
I just started to re watch again all your videos from begining.u do a great job.keep them coming please

That was a great video OC. Ive heard Barone's name mentioned before but never like that. Great seeing the photos of Fat Tony in cuffs puffing on the cigar.
Thank you Mike. Have a great weekend pal.

Thanks again for Another great story about a interesting character 👍🏽
Yeah, fascinating lesser known mobster.
Another interesting story most people never heard about. I was going to give you a heads up that John Pennisi spoke very highly about you, but apparently you already know. Keep the stories coming.
Thanks Peter. Yeah I was a couple of episodes behind and someone gave me a heads up that I was mentioned. I hope you are well mate.

Another wonderful episode OC🔥 I’ve heard the story about George Barone but not like this. Very detailed and insightful. These Westside guys were/are very ruthless, dangerous, and powerful. I’m glad John Pinisi gave you a shot out and you gave one back. There’s plenty of room for everyone to eat 👍
Thanks Pete. Agreed, this is an expansive subject and can be discussed from all sorts of angles.

George Barone was featured in the British mid 80s mob documentary. He was shown as a person shaking down this Jewish shipping company on the docks of Miami, FL.
Favorite channel very informative
Thank you Ian. I appreciate the support.
I look forward to seeing which books your showcasing each video. " The Sixth Family" is one of my favorites!! Even after the death of Vito, the Rizzutos still have long tenticles!!
Such a good book! Ha - yeah, I like to mix it up and give a few of the titles a bit more of a highlight but facing them forward..

@@OCSHORTZ Sammy's channel, your channel," MBA and the Button Man" and MOBFAX are the best and Legit mob channels. "DEEPER GLOBALISM" had phenomenal stories about the Ndrangheta, Sicilian mafia and Toto Riina
Dope channel. Can you do some Columbo Family content? For "some reason", I find that particular family most fascinating
Definitely pal. They've had some fascinating characters over the years. If you go to my page, I have a playlist of videos dedicated to the Colombos. Can't remember how many there are , but some interesting stories
Good stuff..thanx
Thank you Michael
Never heard his name pronounced Vito-NE Genovese lol..all kidding aside great video brother. I'm new to the channel but I can already tell you work hard to put together great content that isn't all regurgitated from other channels. This is key, I hope you always keep doing this, as it will set you vastly apart from all the other mob channels which just respew the same stories they all tell which have already been told in books since I started reading mob stuff in the early 90s. It's so refreshing to see new, interesting stories about obscure guys who nonetheless have very interesting backgrounds. Like I said, please keep at it, I will put your name out there in every comment section in all the other channels I watch. You have a new subscriber here. Thank you.
Thank you for the kind words David. Yes, he was known as Don Vitone, much like Joe Bonanno was known as Don Peppino. I believe it was a term of respect and affection. I don't profess to be an expert, but just enjoy sharing interesting information that I have researched, and it's nice to cover the lesser known characters and events that are usually seen in mob documentaries. Thanks again for your support.
@@OCSHORTZ wow..that is awesome. I was purely teasing but am even happier to know it was actually what he was called. My apologies for teasing. But that made me like your channel even more bc I have read, seen and watched everything I can get my hands on about Mafia's old and new, here and abroad for over 25 years, and that was another thing I didn't know. You should include that kind of thing in your vid- us Aficionados love little things like that. Keep at it bro, you will blow up. I just found you tonight and I've binged 7 videos in a row now. I have tons of good chats in all the comment sections of the Channels you and Sons of Italy were talking about (Sammy's, Mobfax, etc.) And I'm going to point all of them to your channel. Like I said, you make interesting, original content (I've heard ALL the stories that get recycled on the other mob channels you didn't mention- and tons more that aren't on there yet) that I haven't heard despite my deep study (I'm a former history/lit major with a specialty in research both archival and internet- so I've read more than most aficionados). Even things like the Don Vitone-which you could mention to further enlighten us all. I've always wanted to start my own channel. Not just mob or anything, more like interesting things from anything in history- from awesome stories of famous War animals(like Alexander the Greats war horse Bucephalus, the Duke of Wellington's Waterloo charger Copenhagen, Sgt. Stumpy the bulldog from Ww1, etc.) I have tons of great little known stories just like your little known mob stories and people tell me I'm great at telling the story where it's interesting to people that know nothing about it(I was always told I should be a history professor as I would have been one of the few that everyone enjoyed- but I went to the Naval Academy instead). Quick question: how did you learn how to edit and add in pics etc? It's the biggest thing holding me back. Any small pointers in where to learn or what software to use would be of great help. My email is dwthomas1981@gmail.com if you don't want to respond on here. Anyways sorry for rambling but you are very inspiring to me both for your style and content and the fact you are sticking with it and steadily growing. Like I said, I will plug your channel any chance I get it's very refreshing and enjoyable. Peace and blessings to you and yours. Stay safe out there 🕊🙏
Another interesting video.
Thanks 👍
Thanks Gary. Glad you enjoyed it
Excellent do enjoy your videos. Glad to hear you are getting Recognition You deserve it. You must do a lot of research. Must take a lot of time and effort. Well done you.

The Genovese family and the Luciano family loved coming to Hot Springs Arkansas.
Coincidentally I'll be doing a video on Owney Madden in the near future, I think I mentioned that the other day.
Another excellent video my friend. There's a lot of very good channels for us mob fans to watch at the moment, but yours & Sammy's are definitely at the top in my opinion, & I've been a mob fan for over 30 years, I've read almost all the good books about the mob. Can you do a video about Little Dom Cataldo, from what I've read about him, he was deadly serious, a killer, but also funny in a unintentional way.
He is MOST DEFINITELY on the list! In features prominently in Joe Dogs book - I know what you mean about unintentially funny!
Good channel.
Thank you William
Kinda sick of keep seeing videos from that era from new youtubers trying to put it better.
But you covered fat Tony and there's nothing about him or few here and there infos only.

Excellent video! It may not be your cup of tea, but a very interesting book I once read was called "The Financing of Terror" by James Adams which looked at the extensive criminal financial operations of various terrorist groups around the world. It's a an area that doesn't get that much attention.

Any thoughts on John Pennisi's social media activities possible getting Stevie "Wonderboy Crea" and Matty Madonna a new trial on the murder of Mike Meldish?
It's intriguing that's for sure Jimmy. Keen to see how it develops.
He's mentioned on that Crime INC documentary. It's a story about Barone extorting a Florida dock guy. The dock worker hired a hitman to kill someone who ripped off some charity he ran; got arrested, and ratted on Barone and the two others. He wore a wire around Barone and the wire fell out of his shirt and he played it off said it was his pacemaker. I think that was the case that Barone flipped.
I think you may well be right there Eamon.
@Joey D he wasn't made in the 40s. The video clearly states he was made in the 1970s. The rules were relaxed at some point and only your father had to be Italian. For example look at John Gotti's son John Gotti Jr, his mother was Jewish and yet he became a made man and then acting boss of the family.
That was in the 70's. Barone didn't flip until 2001 after he was shelved.
No George did not flip at that time. He did 7 years didn't say a word he came out. It was all about Is the chin Gigante they had a hit on George way after he did his 7 years got out and still ran things behind the scens but was wanting to put his face out there after he found out about the hit then he turned on them it wasn't until the late 99 until he turned coat..how do I know he out me on the Port of Miami when I was 17 years old that was back in 80..my dad was very close to him ...all these guys turn its a joke...stay working don't be a mobster it doesn't pay...remember RICO act!!
Lol that picture of Fat tony in chains and prison garb still chomping his cigar.
Ha me too
