Really good! 👍🏽This was a fantastic deep dive into one of my favorite topics, how did Vic and gas pull this off? Exactly the thing I wanna hear about. Gaspipe always knew how to position himself to get ahead. Whatever happened this guy exploited the circumstances perfectly!
Nice video James. It seems that there is not as much evidence to suggest that Amuse and Casso had the Blessing of Tony Ducks for the hit, but went ahead anyways...taking their chances about receiving a severe reprisal from Corallo. I guess we'll never know! Enjoy your week James!!👍👍
A couple of informers were told Luongo went to meet Amuso and disappeared, and that happened to Luongo while he was apparently about to be boss? Suspicious timing. And why would Amuso be there watching and possibly committing the murder himself; strongly suggests it was something Amuso wanted to ensure was done right. Hardly sounds like it was merely for breach of the 'made man' induction procedures. Amuso still has not renounced his official boss status despite having been in prison for decades and he ordered his own choice for acting boss DeFede to be hit after replacing him, and also tried to have DeArco hit after replacing him as acting boss. Amuso tried to get an egregious mass cull on every member of the Jersey Crew. All this was over the money that Amuso thought was his due as boss; the man is greedy. Who can doubt that even after he saw off the Buddy challenge and was made boss Amuso would kill Luongo as a potential future rival for the lucrative position. So whether Luongo was front runner and then fell from favour and/ or was liquidated for unauthorized inductions into the Family (how could that work if someone was to claim the status outside the Luongo crew when a name has to be circulated around all of the five Families before the ceremony meaning there are no unknown members), I think Amuso was already as good as boss when he hit Luongo to remove a possible alternative to his acting leadership. Conceivably, Amuso engineered an order or tacit permssion to hit Loungo from Tony Ducks, by falsely accusing Luongo of some breech such as plotting a takeover. However, I very much doubt it was _just_ by killing Luongo or even by manufacturing an allegation against him that Amuso got the supreme position, he must have always been a very strong contender for the boss position. Possibly Ducks was inclining to Luongo but still somewhat in two minds when Amuso tipped the balance somehow.
Vic and gas met buddy for breakfast and then nobody ever saw him again so for sure Vic and gas were there when he got clipped either watching or doing it themselves. Tick wanted gas for the boss and Tony ducks wanted buddy but after buddy went away Vic ended up with the spot. Buddy def would have been a better boss he was way more level headed than Vic or gas and super respected by the other families
I believe the only reason Ducks didn't go so hard to find out who killed Buddy was because he was on trial on the Commission Case. Im still surprised Ducks even gave up his Boss title because most Bosses kept there spot even in prison
Tony was a boss during the Castellano hit. He knew his underlings were a lot more derranged than John Gotti, for example. He took precautions in my opinion
@@theportugueselegend that's my thinking because think about it your Acting Boss comes up missing normally that situation is looked into and if others knew he went to a meeting with Vic and disappeared and still made him Boss with no fight it had to be more to it or Ducks sanctioned it
@@DaveSCameron he was but all Bosses have the choice to keep there title or abdicate Ducks abdicated but Persico wasn't having it he kept his title and power
It always surprised me that a man of seemingly sound judgment like Tony Ducks would leave loose cannons like Amuso and Gaspipe at the helm of the Lucheses.
What a great upload today James. My vote goes to Amuso and Casso taking Luongo out. They were both greedy and aggressive at that point. It was perfect timing for their power grab. Prior to this happening the feds had bugged Corallo’s Jaguar and had gained massive information on the workings of the Luchese Crime family. It was early in the era of listening technology and it was all downhill for “Tony Ducks” from there. Just my humble opinion!
It just seems that if Ducks had chosen Buddy and Amuso had Buddy whacked, Ducks would have had Amuso and Casso whacked-out for taking out his choice as the new family boss. I guess we'll never know for sure, nor should we. After all this was supposed to be a secret society and we're not supposed to know.
Love your content OC Shortz. I would have to say there are too many conflicting reports to know exactly what happened to Luongo. It’s hard to believe anything Casso has to say for one. The one thing we know for sure is that Anthony Luongo was killed.
As popular as "The Prince" is within LCN, you'd have to expect someone to pull a Cheshire Borgia. I believe that's who the manual is based on. How could they (in this case, it was Ducks) not see this coming!
When a boss went away for a long time, they try to make sure that the next regime keeps sending money to him or his family. My opinion is that Tony Ducks felt that Vic was most likely to do that. Maybe Luongo gave off a different vibe and Corallo then backed Vic.
another excellent video and i was ready to share a few thoughts until you mentioned the 19th Hole Bar. the 19th Hole adjoining the Public Golf Course was on 86th street, directly across the street from the Knights of Columbus building housing a dance floor & a bar. it was the place where us guys under the legal age of 18 could get a drink, they would serve anyone who could reach the bar. it was obvious that wiseguys and their ladies would sometimes hang at the Knights' Hall, being the good Catholics that they were, and the liquor was acquired from the wiseguys at well below market value. mark it up to Catholic Charity, and the good works of Men of Honor.
I think prrrobbbably Tony Ducks ordered the hit on Luongo. Considering Ducks wasn't incarcerated, I don't think Vic and Gas would do it without him sanctioning it. Too risky I think to do it without it being ordered. And I think probably Vic was Tony Ducks first choice for boss. Anyways another top notch video. I watch these to help me unwind from work.

We forget how many ppl are still around that were made n flipped ! I understand how they don’t care to talk about this stuff anymore tho , always a fascinating story ! Always wondered this myself why buddy was killed !
Ive also read that Tom Mix and Tony Ducks got into a Beef during the Commission trial and Tony Ducks chose to side with Christie Tick and let Buddy get whacked as a middle finger to Tom Mix
I know Rj rodger said his show set the standard I disagree I know this show did no bias any which way no excuses he has a bias being michaels friend. Great job love the content!!!!!
Great video. Not many talk about buddy luongo. We will probably never know the full story. He would of been a great boss. Was his killing sanctioned by tony ducks? Who the heck knows. It could go either way. Those 2 nut jobs tookover, and killed their own men
I often wonder why Tony Ducks, when he heard about the total mayhem Vic Amuso and Casso were unleashing on the family, he couldn’t do something about it. Even from behind bars. Maybe he tried. But he’d relinquished control. Tony sure picked the wrong guys
If possible see if you can do a video piece on Mobsters who played dual roles like for example, L.A. Mob Boss Frank Desimone, who was both a Mafioso and a certified LAWYER and John C.Montana of the Buffalo Mob, who was also a local Politician AND Button guy.
I think the choice was Buddy and Amuso was to help him run the family. Problem was he didn't know how conniving Vic & Gas were. And he probably couldn't retaliate because he didn't have solid proof and there was no one else on street to take over. Thats just my guess have a good weekend OC
I always figured this was the case tbh, that it was ordered by Corallo that ordered it and not Vic and Gas killing a literal captain on a whim and without approval, and not only not being punished - but also Vic being promoted to boss. I also think the idea that Carmine Tramunti was some placeholder boss until Corallo was released from jail made no sense. Tommy Lucchese even brought Tramunti to Appalachin, not Corallo. I'm guessing Tramunti was Tommy's first pick tbh, and Corallo was only elevated because Tramunti got convicted in the French Connection case. Would love to hear your thoughts about that one!
In my opinion James, Tony Ducks putting Vic and casso in charge of the family must’ve been the worst decision that he ever made buddy but, I wouldn’t believe a lot of what casso says James, he’s been proven to be a liar so many times mate as far as I’m concerned about casso is, he’s cried wolf to many times for my liking, and I definitely can’t see Tony Ducks offering casso the top spot in the family either buddy that’s for sure. A very interesting video this was again James thanks for posting it onto UA-cam for us , stay safe brother from Stevie boy.
Given the amount of heat and attention on the Luccese hierarchy during the commision trial, I can definitely see them wanting to avoid attending any making ceremonies while out on bail. They all had microscopes on them so I don't see them handing over captains and new inductees over on a silver platter by heading making ceremonies
Great video as usual sir. No doubt the gas pipe is a scary guy and probably the most ruthless psycho in the mob😢 I usually don't have nightmares however I woke up in a cold sweat one night after dreaming he was after me😢😅
It begs the question though - Why was there no come back on Vic Amuso from Tony Corallo? I don't believe that even after being sent down for 100 years that he would let it slide? Or maybe he did.
@@OCSHORTZ well historically ‘Tony Ducks’ was a very conservative Boss in regards to murder during his reign(compared to his peers) I believe he didn’t retaliate due to the fact he was on trial, he likely didn’t want anymore dissension amongst the ranks and attempted to keep things as quite as possible…if it was all hearsay at the time on who killed Buddy, ‘Tony Ducks’ was not the type to rush to judgment and kill somebody in his Borgata without the proof he needed and to obtain that would of taken more time that what he had to work with…plus I think Christie ‘Tick’ was likely backing them and vouching that they didn’t do it. Same goes for ‘Big Paul’ not killing the Gotti faction for dealing and then defiance with the tapes… I believe he put that on the back burner as well bc he was sooo consumed with the Commission Trial. ‘Tony Ducks’ was lpre-occupied with that as well. And lastly look who we are dealing with here Vic&Gas!lol They knew and were willing to take over by force!
@@josephsierzengaIV More likely Amuso prepared the ground by making some allegations against Buongo, and offered to take very good care of Tony Ducks with payments while he was away, and Ducks in effect handed over the reins sooner than anyone, especially Buongo, thought, Then as already Family boss, Amuso killed Buongo with Duck's tacit or explicit approval.
@@seancidy6008 I disagree. ‘Tony Ducks’ was set for life financially… He also was known as being the least greedy ‘Boss’ of his era. So money wasn’t an factor. He also liked Buddy, and wouldn’t have him killed especially during that period after the Commission trial came down. He was trying to lay as low as possible. Also, Vic&Gas came out of Christie ‘Ticks’ camp…. If anything he gave Vic&Gas the green light so he would have his guys on top when he went down. He didn’t have the money ‘Tony Ducks’ did or legitimate businesses in place to sustain his family for years to come like Corallo had in place.
Can you imagine Corolla in his later yrs in prison watching from afar as the powerhouse he helped build collapsed into anarchy . Iv often wondered if ducks lost all influence once he went to prison . Cause most guys at least want to hold onto a cut in some form

Hi Lee,, Luongo wasn't kidnapping made men. His uncle was kidnapped and Buddy delivered the ransom money. Glad you enjoyed the video. Have a good weekend too.
Ha, that's okay pal. A lot of information coming in a short period, and my accent might make things hard too! Hope you are well Lee. Have a great weekend.
Well, 1st of all, Ricciardi says 'we THOUGHT (Buddy) he was gonna be our new boss', he was an insider at the time he knew he wasn't the boss yet. 2nd, I believe that when the boss calls you, you come to him, so Buddy went to Vic not the other way around. Also if Buddy was the boss, he would not be there alone. Could Buddy be a threat to the new power? Certainly. But for those facts I don't believe he was the new boss, and also I believe that Corallo gave them the ok for the hit.
I'd go for Vic & Gas being behind it, I read in the Book GASPIPE that Vic took his life sentence on the chin, & refused to co,operate, If so that was the only stand up thing he done, Both of them were BONKERS.
In that Lucchese Mob film “Manhattan Mob Rampage” seems to me that Casso and Vic were actually in good standing with the soon to be incarcerated boss Tony Ducks. Film mentions that Genovese and Lucchese families wanted retaliation for the Gambino’s uprising, unsanctioned, and murder of their friend Big Paul. In comes Casso, he carried out the failed bombing for Gotti that instead took out underboss Franky D. This work put Casso and his buddy Vic in good standing. So my theory is Buddy had to go even though he was the obvious choice for leader because as you mentioned he’s presumed to be next in line. I can see that bothering Tony Ducks, man is not even in jail already and you have someone acting like it making members. So he used his loyal servants to do the deed and left them the keys to Ferrari before sailing away into retirement.
Poor tom mix.. he gets out of prison after doing about 20 years, then a couple years later goes back in and gets 100 years. Plus he said the most gangster shit to the judge!! The judge tried to lecture him, he told him to save it and give me the hundred years. The judge said I'm just doing my job, to which he replied and you're doing a great job!! 😂😂😂😂
That's right. When the judge was detailing his life of crime, Santoro said "I don't need a story, just give the 100 years". Hope you enjoyed the video.

Hi Ron. This is a different kidnapping crew as far as I am aware. The one in the mid 60's was different from the one that James McBratney was involved with. In addition the crew that McBratney was associated with did not kidnap Manny Gambino. This was something completely different. Any version in which Corallo sactioned the murder is very tough to swallow. Considering the other versions have Amuso, Furnari, Casso who are well known for lies n treachery, is very easy to put down. It's more likely that Corallo didn't want to involve himself too directly and let it play out and let the dust settle.

Bobby amuso did the work apparently
Thank you for sharing your research
Good stuff as ALWAYS
I believe the only reason Ducks didn't go so hard to find out who killed Buddy was because he was on trial on the Commission Case. Im still surprised Ducks even gave up his Boss title because most Bosses kept there spot even in prison
Tony was a boss during the Castellano hit. He knew his underlings were a lot more derranged than John Gotti, for example. He took precautions in my opinion
@@theportugueselegend that's my thinking because think about it your Acting Boss comes up missing normally that situation is looked into and if others knew he went to a meeting with Vic and disappeared and still made him Boss with no fight it had to be more to it or Ducks sanctioned it
I ACTUALLY WAS THINKING THE SAME 👍👍💯
I thought only Persico remained boss during this decade.
Top shelf content, thx.
This was excellent
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it.
I agree. They would surely have ways to know if Ducks was having a bad episode with Luongo. So probably Vic and Gas.
Oc we need a child hood up bringing of crazy Joe Gallo 😮😮😮
Great idea.
Great info
Thank you.
When a boss went away for a long time, they try to make sure that the next regime keeps sending money to him or his family. My opinion is that Tony Ducks felt that Vic was most likely to do that. Maybe Luongo gave off a different vibe and Corallo then backed Vic.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts pal. Enjoy your weekend.
Great presentation
Thank you Bob. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Have a good weekend.
I have been researching this same topic. I was always curious if there was any blow back from this hit.
Yes, it is an interesting topic
another excellent video and i was ready to share a few thoughts until you mentioned the 19th Hole Bar. the 19th Hole adjoining the Public Golf Course was on 86th street, directly across the street from the Knights of Columbus building housing a dance floor & a bar. it was the place where us guys under the legal age of 18 could get a drink, they would serve anyone who could reach the bar. it was obvious that wiseguys and their ladies would sometimes hang at the Knights' Hall, being the good Catholics that they were, and the liquor was acquired from the wiseguys at well below market value. mark it up to Catholic Charity, and the good works of Men of Honor.
I bet having a drink with you is proper fun, I'd be sat there absolutely piss*d and next minute your talking about Mob hits and stories
I'd probably just bore you to tears.
Everytime I see "buddy" i instantly think of "BUDDY MY FUCKIN BALLS"- John Gotti lol 😂 another banger video from me favorite bloke Jimmy shortz
Ha - a classic Gotti quote. Glad you enjoyed it Mikey
I’m alil late to the party , but my friend ! You never miss wen you drop a video !! 🔥🔥🔥🔥 is Tommy ricciardi still alive ? That’s would be a hell of an interview ! We forget how many ppl are still around that were made n flipped ! I understand how they don’t care to talk about this stuff anymore tho , always a fascinating story ! Always wondered this myself why buddy was killed !
Can you make a video discussing the murder of Tommy Eboli? There’s a lot of conflicting info and theories as to why it happened.
Indeed I will be Johnny
Definitely think amuso and casso whacked buddy so they could take over the family and maybe had tony ducks believe it was someone else who wacked him?
Ive also read that Tom Mix and Tony Ducks got into a Beef during the Commission trial and Tony Ducks chose to side with Christie Tick and let Buddy get whacked as a middle finger to Tom Mix
Yes, I've heard this too
Was Christie Tick a capo at this time?

Thank you for the kind words Joe
Fascinating stuff OC and very interesting, if i had to make a decision, I'd say it was Vic Amuso.
Glad you found it interesting George. I hope you are well.
I’ll always say it, when newspapers put actual addresses in their stories it added so much..
Maybe the Lucchese family would have been better off with a guy from the Bronx since they claim Bronx guys come from good stock.
Great video. Not many talk about buddy luongo. We will probably never know the full story. He would of been a great boss. Was his killing sanctioned by tony ducks? Who the heck knows. It could go either way. Those 2 nut jobs tookover, and killed their own men
WOW, I need to hear more about the "kidnap gang".
I have a video planned on that very subject
Top notch content
Thank you James. Have a good weekend..
I often wonder why Tony Ducks, when he heard about the total mayhem Vic Amuso and Casso were unleashing on the family, he couldn’t do something about it. Even from behind bars. Maybe he tried. But he’d relinquished control. Tony sure picked the wrong guys
Lots of great comments from everyone!!👏🏻
Bronx vs Brooklyn.
Great video OC
If possible see if you can do a video piece on Mobsters who played dual roles like for example, L.A. Mob Boss Frank Desimone, who was both a Mafioso and a certified LAWYER and John C.Montana of the Buffalo Mob, who was also a local Politician AND Button guy.
I think the choice was Buddy and Amuso was to help him run the family. Problem was he didn't know how conniving Vic & Gas were. And he probably couldn't retaliate because he didn't have solid proof and there was no one else on street to take over. Thats just my guess have a good weekend OC
Great show 😊 I think Vic and Gas just did it, they were ruthless and wanted control. Vic Amuso should never be let out.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts pal. Enjoy your weekend Dennis.
@@OCSHORTZ , you are welcome. Enjoy your weekend also 😃
I always figured this was the case tbh, that it was ordered by Corallo that ordered it and not Vic and Gas killing a literal captain on a whim and without approval, and not only not being punished - but also Vic being promoted to boss.
Also, Gaspipe is so full of shit about turning down the boss position hahahahaha.
Desperate attempt to save face in his book.
As soon as Tony Ducks came home from jail,he was the boss.
Thanks mate I really enjoyed this video. The family would certainly have prospered more under luongo than amuso and casso. Get subbing guys
Interesting. I always thought gas pipe gave the order. Thank u.
Given the amount of heat and attention on the Luccese hierarchy during the commision trial, I can definitely see them wanting to avoid attending any making ceremonies while out on bail. They all had microscopes on them so I don't see them handing over captains and new inductees over on a silver platter by heading making ceremonies
But a murder?
Great video as usual sir. No doubt the gas pipe is a scary guy and probably the most ruthless psycho in the mob😢 I usually don't have nightmares however I woke up in a cold sweat one night after dreaming he was after me😢😅
A true psychopath for sure
Ruthless life! You want to no ones friend or everyone’s best friend. Always seems to come down to the money!
I believe Corallo gave it to the Brooklyn faction as he feared they would start an all out war if it went to the Bronx-Harlem again.
Gas Pipe looks imposing with that mustache even though He was absolutely more striking without one.
Buddy was indeed ‘Tony Ducks’ first choice to turn the Borgata over to…..
It was a preemptive strike by Vic&Gas💯
Many guys that were sent running into the arms of the FEDs have said this…
It begs the question though - Why was there no come back on Vic Amuso from Tony Corallo? I don't believe that even after being sent down for 100 years that he would let it slide? Or maybe he did.
@@OCSHORTZ well historically ‘Tony Ducks’ was a very conservative Boss in regards to murder during his reign(compared to his peers)
I believe he didn’t retaliate due to the fact he was on trial, he likely didn’t want anymore dissension amongst the ranks and attempted to keep things as quite as possible…if it was all hearsay at the time on who killed Buddy, ‘Tony Ducks’ was not the type to rush to judgment and kill somebody in his Borgata without the proof he needed and to obtain that would of taken more time that what he had to work with…plus I think Christie ‘Tick’ was likely backing them and vouching that they didn’t do it.
Same goes for ‘Big Paul’ not killing the Gotti faction for dealing and then defiance with the tapes…
I believe he put that on the back burner as well bc he was sooo consumed with the Commission Trial. ‘Tony Ducks’ was lpre-occupied with that as well.
And lastly look who we are dealing with here Vic&Gas!lol
They knew and were willing to take over by force!
‘Tony Ducks’ was set for life financially…
He also was known as being the least greedy ‘Boss’ of his era.
He probably didn't give a fuck by that point. He knew he would never see the light of day.
When casso flipped why wasn't info disclosed about buddy? Like where his body is and what exactly happened?
As far as I am aware, his body has never been recovered.

Hi Lee,, Luongo wasn't kidnapping made men. His uncle was kidnapped and Buddy delivered the ransom money. Glad you enjoyed the video. Have a good weekend too.
Oh OK! I was thinking how could he be made! I need to pay more attention! Love your Channel! @@OCSHORTZ
Ha, that's okay pal. A lot of information coming in a short period, and my accent might make things hard too! Hope you are well Lee. Have a great weekend.
You got it wrong, his uncle was kidnapped, Buddy was robbing liquor stoers
Definitely Vic and Gaspipe.
I agree pal. I don't believe that Buddy was already boss. It is just interesting that Cafaro thought that.
I agree with everything you said
I'd go for Vic & Gas being behind it, I read in the Book GASPIPE that Vic took his life sentence on the chin, & refused to co,operate, If so that was the only stand up thing he done, Both of them were BONKERS.
Dang 15 auto’s and 5,000 grand! Lol we know he was HUNTING
Please do a video about the kidnapping gang.
It is in the pipeline for the near future
@@OCSHORTZexcellent!
