It makes me wonder if they would have done well here. If they could have bribed police officers and rigged jury's etc like in the US. Excellent 🔥breakdown of what went down with Bobby B murder . You covered details from that incident involving the Genovese, Luchese, and even the Mafia cops. I think we can all agree if John Sr was out in the street the outcome for retaliation would have been different. According to Sammys podcast( if true) he got sent for to a meeting w John Sr and Sr sanctioned the hit on Vincent Gigante.He was ready to go to war. I think the only other Gotti that people in that life respected was Gene. So sending Jr to the sit down with Barney for his head was a joke. But I believe Chin was the shrewdest of them all. He was a puppet master. Using his men and even Luchese guys to do the dirt taking out some heavy Gambino guys. He’d tell the men in his borgota “we don’t breakdown our captains, we kill them.”

I don’t think the Gambino’s “ranked out,” as they say. I think wiser heads prevailed in order to avoid an all out war, (which could’ve been the second Castellamarese War.) Just imagine a war between three families, two of those being the biggest families in NY. Because the Castellano hit had been unsanctioned, you can bet there would’ve been an option on the table, like taking out Joe The Boss Masseria to end a war, in this case take out the Gambino boss to end the war. Anyhow how could they know for sure who was behind the Boriello hit? Unless I missed something. Very interesting channel. Good info here, you’re definitely well informed on this stuff.

Gotti senior actually did attempt retribution against Casso after the Dechico hit. However, that hit attempt failed, and Gaspipe killed the people involved. However, Gotti never went after the Chin. He probably figured Chin was too powerful and could not be gotten to.

The gambinos where at their strongest when Paul was in charge. They where making serious dough, he almost made the whole family “legit” which is the main goal if you In the street. Gotti took the family backwards. casso and the chin would never have dared to take a shot at the gambinos if Paul was still in charge. I always hit the like as soon as I click. Never been disappointed. OC is the epitome of quality over quantity. I’ve been reading up on LCN for 30 years and he always delivers stories that I’ve never even heard of. Every time.

Easy to say that. Unfortunately, Gotti & Sammy were locked up when Bobby was killed. They were under incessant surveillance when Eddie Lino was killed & arrested shortly after. Chin was very strategic using Vic & Gas, they struck at a perfect time.
Gaspipe and Amuso were like the worst bosses in LCN history.

Barney Bellomo still runs new york. He's the last real boss left here. Although the feds say he's hard to get because he's pretty legit now with property ownership and construction and demo companies.
In hindsight, Sammy should have taken out Gotti almost immediately after they killed Castellano. Gravano should have moved on Gotti as a way of suring up the support of the other families, as well as the old timers in the family that didn't agree with the hit. Making it look like he played no part in hitting Paul, while serving up his usurper on a golden platter... Don Gravano might still be running NY if John didn't get the chance to run his mouth on those tapes. John was a heavyweight, but Sammy's name held more weight throughout La Cosa Nostra as a whole and could have weathered any storms...
Gotti was very popular also, Sammy was more low key. He couldn't whack John without reprisal within that crew
The problem with this idea is that Sammy's role in the Castellano hit appears to have been well known - at least to all the people who were involved in the hit. Also, while Sammy would have been a better boss than John, it has always appeared to me that he really didn't want the job. He could have had it by simply refusing to fix one of the juries that acquitted Gotti. Sammy paid $60,000 to get the acquittal.
Every boss since the 60s were caught on tape, whether legally or not so Gotti was far from the first. Gotti was a Captain before he was even a “ made man”. He had respect.
If Sammy was the boss, he would’ve been caught on tape too. Sammy didn’t like prison, that’s why he cooperated.

This was excellent . . . the in-depth full story account of this hit and the personalities surrounding it gives me a deeper understanding of the situation of this time period of Gotti's reign. The 'Chin' still had it out for Gotti years after the bombing death of Frank DeCicco. Again what I really love about ' OC Shortz ' is names of the various personalities - I make a list from the video and do research and find additional information on each one. ' OC Shortz ' is a university level course for me.
