I think Dodge's approach to the new Durango, concentrating on it's on road abilities, is a wise move. The majority of SUV owners do not go off road plus it does not compete with the fellow Mopar Jeeps. I think it would still be a viable snow and dirt road SUV. Looks are great and Chrysler new interiors are a HUGE step up.
Before you say nay to the new 2011 Dodge Durango better do a test drive and see it in person. Totally different from previous generation of Dodge/Chrysler products. First time seeing the '11 Durango was in a car show, the quality, fit and finish of the materials is outstanding rivals that of luxury imports. Love the smooth solid driving dynamics, no rattles/squeaks on this suv. Never thought I would ever buy an American nameplate car this car has converted me!
its a good car but it should also be offroad capable. i mean thats what suv are for ,going places and doing stuff what normal cars or crossovers cant do
@vanquishman many cars currently have the actual battery in places other than in the front, with a place under the hood to attach jumper cables if needed.
@Fast81Z28 there is a post under the hood. A lot of cars are moving things around. I've seen it in my sister's Saturn to friends Mercedes. You put the jumpers on some posts under the hood and its connected eventually to the battery.
@diman75 A lot of new cars put it in the trunk, or on the BMW X5 its right behind the back seat. Its kinda odd, but lots of cars are moving the battery somewhere else these days.
@romanmicagearguy and so on and so on. Its most like the 4Runner in outside dimensions and 2 rows of seats. The 4Runner though doesn't have a 3rd row. I compared it to the FWD competition and hands down the Durango was just much better (Pilot, Highlander, Traverse, Explorer, etc)
For some reason the appearance looks like a toyota Sequoia mashed wit Jeep Grand Cherokee. I actually like the shape and design. My mom had a 98 durango slt hemi. well it was conservative looking and cheap interior quality. Than test drove a 2004 durango larger but again materials were cheap. so mom got an 03 gmc envoy xl slt fully loaded.
That battery under the front seat is a deal breaker. If the Battery is dead, then power seats won't move and you cant get to it. Sounds like a roadtrip nightmare waiting to happen.
@MrKeshab95 hmmm, ok. But what if I want to jump-start another car, or maybe I needed a jump-start...how would I connect the two batteries if this is placed in such a horrible place? I dunno, I really like the new Durango, but this is just stupidity in my opinion.
I still like the first gen durango best, it had good lines, good ground clearance and I never did without space. Now my 2001 Grand Cherokee has less ground clearance than my old durango but the allwheel drive is better and the gas mileage is a little better. I thought the 2nd gen durango was just butt ugly. This to me looks like a toyota and if I wanted a bland toyota I would buy a bland toyota.
The only frik'n thing is missing is off road option. U guys made a lady's car from a durango . Dont say is almost like jeep causeis not. There is no selection for terrain. Is for lady's. Any MAN that wants some fun a bit in the off road will not buy it.
**THE ONE THING THIS ....SUV NEEDS IS ...A ...PASSENGER SEAT ...THAT CAN...REVERSE....SO THAT ....MY WIFE...CAN TURN THE ....CHAIR AROUND AND ....DEAL WITH THE ...KIDS...ONE-ONE-ONE...**
@romanmicagearguy Nope. It doesn't compete with the Explorer anymore. The Explorer is now a wrong-wheel-drive sissymobile fit only for soccer moms and limp wristed nancyboys. The Durango will eat it for breakfast.

Looks the mini-van folks are going to be jealous. Its about time someone made a mid-size suv that'll seat 7.
Hmmm, the headrest flipper could come in handy...
Question: What if I need to change the battery? I mean, would I need to go to the dealer and remove the seat just to change the battery?
soo... what when its time to replace your battery, you have to take out the passenger seat??? thats pretty stupid
its a good car but it should also be offroad capable. i mean thats what suv are for ,going places and doing stuff what normal cars or crossovers cant do
looks sweet.. but the back bothers me.. looks way too much close to a BMW X5 rear... other than that.. love it.. id buy it.
Thanks for the valuable information 👍

I have a 2015 but I love this demo
I thought those head rests were gonna go down smoothly and electronically but instead they fn snapped down so fast that they can kill someone.

why is the cameraman filming the guy all the time, i dont care how he looks i wanna c the suv
Durango is number 1 👌
love this sound track
Battery under seat🤔

How do you boost a battery sitting under a passenger seat?
Fast81Z28
There are additional battery post under the hood
@micamaro2 Agreed! R they making a Durango in SRT-8...???
Exellent review, thanks a lot.

looks like a mini Toyota Seqouia.
@gardmans1 new Explorer, Tahoe, Suburban and so on.
Seriously, you guys need to fire your music person.
Battery under the driver's seat is a piece of bad engineering not weight distribution technique.
That's such a cool way for auto makers to demo their SUVs.
2:29 silver R/T backing up
I could see someone using the head rest button to smack there passeners with.
battery is not under the driver's ass its under passengers assss!!! and i love the model too sometng new to expalin aby the suv
I do!

Seriously? Your answer lies under the hood of this vehicle. Do your research. Smh....

@MrDonRickles
Well, I actually like this Durango, but there's no doubting that it looks like the Seqouia.

@UpYersMan Best. Comment. Ever
@romanmicagearguy It has nice styling and features but this wont beat any of the new competition.
@gardmans1 , similar to the jeep Grand Cherokee.
*SO MANY DURANGOS*
@2:27 you mean the front seat is optional? haha
@Treymarqu an Automatic Dope Slap Dispenser! we better tell Click and Clack the Tappet Brothers PRONTO!
i like this i have one and a liked so much
@tjhaywood100 i completely agree. The new look just makes it look like a gay little crossover

The back of it looks like a BMW.
mix between a bmw x5/toyota highlander/nissan pathfinder. it just looks so womanly.
@UpYersMan that is so funny lol
@Xeyad1 maybe you lift the car up and change battery from under the car.
looks like a van
We need a off rod for 7 people. Jeep people. U dont understand that?
from 1:15 u can see the black R/T Durango making its way up. Awsome!!!
me gustoso

AMERICAN CARS ADDING GERMAN FEATURES ??? I THINK SO .. DO AMERICAN CARS SUCK??? I THINK SO
this video sucks - he isn't showing the car....the guy he's interviewing dominates te video...
