2015 Royal Enfield Continental GT: Loz isn't cool enough for this bike...

- ...but for one week, he desperately tried to be.
The Continental GT, with its fuel injected 535cc engine, Brembo brakes and braided brake lines is the lightest, fastest, most powerful and most high-tech bike Enfield has ever made. It's a beautifully presented modern classic that turns heads and starts conversations everywhere it goes, while delivering a relaxed riding experience full of character. It's also become highly coveted by fashion-conscious urban riders who love its authentic charm.
Test/edit: Loz Blain. Cameras: Chris Blain.
Great review, judging the bike on its own unique merits.
This bike can't compete with anything out there, and that's the point. There isn't anyone making a bike like this anymore.
Biking how it used to be. Brilliant.
Thank you
What A review! You convinced me to get myself a Continental GT! Thanks bro...
These are the best motorcycle reviews period. They're serious enough to give you an honest review of the motorcycle but at the same time they're very comical. Keep uploading!
Working on it my man!
LOL @ 4:30
funniest review ever.
i love this bike
I have a Continental GT 535...beautiful bike. I agree with everything said here. If you can get one, do so. You won`t regret it.
Love your channel mate. The perfect reviews, focus on the real things like how it makes you feel. And of course hats off to the editing and camera angles. Keep up the awesome work.
Seems to be shaking a pepper grinder upside down. More motorcycle, less chewing.
think he filmed himself more than the bike this time.
LOL. Too many uncomfortably close eating shots.
Did you work at Apple before review motorcycles?
I love your sense of humour. Great review!
Underlying my laughter was more than a sneaking thought that the little Enfield is rather beautiful. Oh dear. I can't afford to move to Brunswick.
It's gorgeous. And lovely to ride once you get yourself in the right mindset.
I had a new one - it was 250, 5 speed gear box. The 5 speed gear box wore out the layshaft dogs and it'd jump gear. The factory issued a 4 speed cluster which I mainly used. It was a great bike and I had it up to 100(mph) as time passed. Fiberglass tank.
This bike looks surprisingly similar.
There is a trick to starting any RE and perfecting it is a very satisfying thing. The feeling you get when you can get it started in one kick in the morning, you know you are going to have a great day ahead ;)
It would be like pulling Excalibur from the stone!
"Cooler than the underside of a pillow on a hot night" Hahaha, definitely going to start using this one. Great review, was laughing all throughout.
Best motorcycle review ever...I'll definitely check out your other videos, if they are anything like this, you've got a fan here! If not...you're dead to me. Thanks for the entertaining video m8! Keep up the great work!
+TheCoolTable I don't think I'd dare make another one like this! We did get a bit creative on the MT09 though, take a look at that!
Notice the pepper "grinder" at 2:39.
D Duckman hahahaha yeah! I first thought it was sone kind of a sauce. But then, its a pepper grinder!!!😂😂
Thanks mate ... I love Enfields but not sure if I'd buy one ...you summed it up beautifully ( even if a little tongue in cheek ) It's a transcendental thing ... Not something to be measured on dynos
Can't wait for the superduke review. I guarantee it's going to be funny as. You guys some of the best bike reviews on the planet. Hurry up big fella :D.
Love the review. Whether tongue in cheek or not. Thank you for the review.
The working week is rush rush. I don't want to rush on the weekends. The weekends are for resting for me, especially on a fine day. This is for the Royal Enfield ride. :)
dbassb1975 :) Glad it brought you a smile!
OMG dude YOU. ARE. AWESOME! Literally rofl here, this is the best! Lots of love
Thanks Loz for the wonderfully subtle sarcasm on a beautiful yet mildly quick bike.
"This is a bike that either of my grandfathers could get on and understand immediately and start enjoying immediately. If they weren't both dead" - Loz
Damn Loz.
I'm not sure what to say to that one... I think you have out done yourself this time.
Well if you are like me and a relic from the 60's, Triumph 650s, Norton commandos, BSA Lightnings, and Royal Enfields, this is real make sense review. Capture what real basic motorcycle riding was all about, in a relatively user friendly new bike. I get it.
This was the best review of a Royal Enfield I've ever seen. Such poetry!
Mr Gizmag Loz the point about first forgetting about your 3-D glasses really gets to the hear of the transcendental beauty of the continental GT, riding this is strangely counterintuitive, whilst its shaking your bones it’s also laid back, you really get this about this truly beautiful motorbike, it’s style is so over the top cool it infects anyone riding it onto some alternative astral plain
Man I love your reviews.
Defiantly the best on youtube.
Someone needs to paying you more : )
Surprisingly, it didn't take 100 years to reach 40 horses. Thoughts on the new conti 650?
You, Sir, are a tremendously talented BS artist. Love your work!!
This definitely is an uncommon bike review. Classy, not in-your-face. Looking forward to more.
Mate very unique review of Royal Enfield,I am a big fan of the bullet, got two back home at India. I hope that one day I will ride this in Sydney roads.
Great review.
I´m waiting for more.
Congrats.
Loz, if you are ever come to the UK, I owe you a pint mate. That review was awesome. You'll obviously have to lose some weight so I accommodate you on the pillion seat of my GT.
...pillion? At least I still get the vibrations I guess. I've just spent 2 weeks on an Enfield Bullet riding through West Mongolia, which gave me a new perspective on these things. Stay tuned!
Oh men! You've got the best reviews in the world. Love it.
you know its really easy to kick start this thing right?
neutral (since its a FI) clutch and slowly push down the kicker once.... release clutch and press down till the kicker just starts to not move and a gentle kick (don't even have to twist the throttle)
The pepper grinder/salt shaker got me! hahaha
These bike reviews are great. Keep it up. Very enjoyable!
The best RE Continental GT review. Without doubt.
The best continental GT review ever.
Had me in stitches, fantastic, very well done.
This might well be the best bike review video I've ever seen. Excellent work.
mate u have explained the bike really well.........true rider
Hey, Metroman! Best and most ironic review of a bike in years. Loved the rosary beads ref and the style of the whole thing which was uncool enough to be almost, well, cool(ish). Guaranteed to hack off a few (?) purists but made me laugh out loud DESPITE loving the bike. Keep ‘em coming.
looks like someone has seen "chasing the bullet". good review mate
Yep l agree royal enfield haven’t messed with the formula cheers l enjoyed all your vids thanks
I love the review Loz, the clutch does indeed feel clutchy. I fully agree with your feeling of the bike, you either get the Enfield, or you don't. End of.
Man, whatever you are doing, you doing it well. Awesome. Different. Tasty. Cheers.
man i love your videos, keep them coming!! thumbs up!!
Nice take on this one!
Love your videos mate!
The things you say are really strange, it feels more like a hipster bike than anything else. old school feel but without all the old bike hassle - but it's the thing that makes old bikes fun!
i do own one re 535 cgt,man i love this bike,i got the oportunity to ride a vintage bran new bike, very fun to ride, got some filling i do not have on a r1 or r6,a true 60's britisch bike spirit, yes finition quality can be inprouved, the bad point 200 more kilo for a cafe racer re did mist the target, but it's a lovely fun bike to ride
+gizmag, RE in now working on 750cc parallel twin engine which will produce 60+ horses. The chassis might be the same but i heard that they have made some changes in order to fit 750cc engine. you should really check about that bike . P.S. its still in testing though.
Did you actually attempt to use pepper but didnt realise it will only dispense if you crush it? 2:37. Hahahaah. ROLF. Amazing video's dude!
that's an excellent review man!! lovely bike..
im busting my ass off and saving for this beauty ..
***** congratulations
+Theo Bombast How's it?
Just hilarious! Thank you very much for this splendid review ... :)
Great review. Funny as.... Loved the pepper grinder.
Is the speed of light too slow for this bike?
lol at some people's comments! I guess aussie humour doesn't quite translate haha- such a good video
Your intro music blew out my eardrums.
I have a tuned one, vibes don't intrude but then I'm used to singles, being an old git. I wouldn't fancy a standard tune one, unless I lived in London. However if I did I'd have to change the handlebars. 19bhp at the back wheel standard. Hitchcocks have got them up to 43, same as the standard twins.
perfect review of this bike...great job 👌👌👌
awesome review.. finally a review i can relate to... nah just kidding, nobody can relate to a hipster...
squid
amazing review man.. glad i saw it...
is this video is really about the bike or your food??
.....and he's still at the Café trying to start it. Go back inside for a cake or three, and you should have enough weight behind the next kick. Seriously though, its a nice looking machine ;-)
3.27 notice how the muffler shield is rattled loose already on a brand new bike .
the 2 music tracks playing at the same time gave me ear cancer
Next time: restaurant review while riding the bike.
That was just a little twisted...so I loved it!
;)
Great review as usual Loz. The only dilemma now is does a hipster get a Royal Enfield Continental GT or a Ducati Scrambler??
Clayton Bollen let's not forget the SR400.
Haha! Of course ;)
Was this review Sarcastic?
I saw one at the swap meet at the steam engine centre in Rowville last summer, it's a nice looking bike but it would be great if they could slot in an updated 700cc Constellation parallel twin like RE had in the '60s. Then you would have good looks and at least a reasonable amount of power. The original '60s 250 GT was a bucket of awful unreliability, truly.
+gm16v149 They are currently testing an oil cooled 750cc parallel twin version of this :)
My brother owned a 250 GT. It used to get him from Cornwall to Surrey each weekend, incl. in the middle of winter. It WAS reliable, but like most bikes of its kind you had to fettle it to keep it that way, not like modern "start/ride/forget" bikes.
good old Sydney Rd, gotta love tram tracks on a wet day!..
Woo Superduke! Can't wait Laz!
this is by far the best review on the Royal Enfield GT i have come across 😂👍
If its an exercise / motor bike you forgot to caution that exercise must not be undertaken 30min befoe youve eaten..
Brilliant review, you had me laughing all the way through. Have you tried the BMW R1200R? biking's best kept secret
...there's digital things...I don't know why but that got me, must be the delivery. :)
Great review. All the models of royal enfield are still in the past and pathetic but here in india you cannot buy a 500cc machine for 2 lakhs and hence these sell quite nicely
Well done. Precise summary of the continental's market (: I'm still laughing..
Very funny, like the hipster spin ..Looking forward to seeing the KTM 1290 review..
and are you getting your hands on the new BMW S1000XR for a video review...
Richard Busa ahhhhh will see how we go. They do look like a good thing, the engine is sensational and the semi-active suspension just blew my mind on the racetrack.
gizmag I really enjoyed the S1000R review you did.. That was brilliant..
I'm looking at the new S1000XR or the 2015 Multistrada to replace my KTM 990 SMT.. I'll keep an eye out for your reviews
(are you doing one on the new Multi...?)
I'm just getting back in touch with Ducati, reckon we'll try to get the Scrambler before anything else but I do wanna ride... Well, most of what they make!
Classic Loz at his very best, Viva la shonky brothers!
You're a genius. Move to LA and start your own bike blog.
Got alllll the kale and single origin free trade coffee I need right here. ;)
Proud owner of a GT.
really enjoyed your review...
Perfect... just perfect.
Beautiful video :-)
Dude this was fucking great keep up the reviews
How about Royal Enfield 650 twin
Ive ridden all over India on several 350 Enfields. Spent 6 years on and off doing it and I love em! They even have a 500 Diesel version up in the north!(!!!!) They are unpretentious and actually quite reliable if you know how to treat them ( and how to start them...dickwad!) I would do it all again in a heartbeat :o)
+Tony Smith interestingly the Bullet 500 I was riding in Mongolia would start first kick. They make perfect sense in India where you can fix one with a tin can and a cigarette lighter, but there's no denying the Conti GT is a bit of a fashion statement here in Australia!
Now you're making me jealous!
it was epic really, enjoyed it :)
"Disk shaped brakes" LOL
Nice work son, BTW am I waiting for a 2015 S1000RR street review in vain?
Might be a while. I did have a quick go on the track, and it's a beauty, especially the active suspension.
How much does this bike go for?
Läwrëncë Ø'Røurkë Under 10 grand in Australia, but less than half of that price in India.
gizmag Its worth noting that the Enfield local and enfield export are very different bikes. This isn't all just "the Australian tax".
Jonathan Gibson thanks for that - can you elaborate?
gizmag There is a few tiny differences such as QA control and mapping, then some minor differences such as different components being used in the fuel pump/relay then some major differences like the lack of an O2 sensor on a EFI for the Indian models.
In India the local jurmos (and people on the factory tour) are not allowed to visit/photograph where the export models are assembled.
I spent a bunch of time in Australia on a 2012 Indian chrome, currently riding a 67 English Enfield overland and also rode local Enfields a bunch in India. Its interesting to see how each of these bikes, all with the enfield badge feel like they had a different manufacturing philosophy.
Fascinating! I'd imagine in some ways the local bikes would be tougher - they need to handle shittier roads on a more regular basis. Interesting to note that some of the emissions stuff seems to be tighter for overseas models, you'd think India with its billion-plus people would need to mount a China=sized assault on carbon emissions.
Please review the NEW GT 650!!
Lots of cracking humour...thanks!
Shades of 'Marlon' Peak Hipster
i cant stop laughing ..thats supposed to be the best bike brand in india mate
this is the best review ever lol brutally honest
"A sexual experience" 😂😂😂👍 Cheers from Germany
"In 100 years we are looking at 45hp..." Hahahaha
