    Here's a fun fact: The man whose car roof Scott landed on the first time he shrunk is played by Garrett Morris. Garret was in the cast of Saturday Night Live from 1975-1980; his cameo here is a nod to the fact that he once dressed up as Ant-Man for a superhero skit in a 1979 SNL episode.
    Until this movie was made, that skit was the only time Ant-Man had ever been portrayed in live action.

    Sweetie! You missed a SECOND end credit scene! Some of the later movies have more than one end credit scene sometimes 3 or 4 of them so just for future reference don't skip them from now on there's lots of tasty tidbits to come in them!

When the movie ended in the movie theaters, only 5 or 6 people left, the vast majority stayed to watch the post-credit scenes, those few people are the ones you are referring to, I imagine.

    In Captain America: Winter Soldier, when Steve and Black Widow go to investigate the old army barracks in New Jersey (where Steve did basic training), there are three framed portraits on the wall which show the founding members of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Peggy Carter, Howard Stark (also revealed by Nick Fury to Tony in Iron Man 2), and Colonel Chester Phillips (Tommy Lee Jones' character in Captain America: The First Avenger). Steve also says to Peggy, when visiting her in the hospital in Captain America: Winter Soldier, "Knowing that you helped found S.H.I.E.L.D. is half the reason I stay."

    • @AMUSIX

      Better that she doesn't see it. There are a few end credit scenes in the MCU that should absolutely be skipped, and this is one of them. In this case, it's simply a scene pulled from the next movie, which spoils plot points for someone who is trying to go into each move blind.
      I'm glad she clearly has someone curating this for her and letting her know which to avoid.

    What I really like about this movie is they kind of turn the step-dad trope on itself. Start off the movie thinking he's not a good guy but at the end he's protecting a daughter that isn't biologically his and recognizes that Scott is needed in the family life. This movie was a pleasant surprise when it came out, definitely enjoyed it more than I thought I would

    Ant-Man (Hank Pym) and Wasp (Janet Van Dyne) were founding members of the Avengers, and Janet was really the heart of the team in the comics. She's amazing in The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, which, by the way, is an amazing show I highly recommend. Fun fact, Janet’s actually the one who came up with the name "Avengers" for the team. She was originally supposed to be in The Avengers (2012) and was even said to be one of the funniest characters, but she got replaced by Black Widow because they felt there were already too many characters in the movie.
    In the comics, Yellowjacket was actually one of Hank Pym’s alternate identities. He took it on after a breakdown following the creation of Ultron and a bunch of personal struggles. At first, Yellowjacket came off more like a villain because of how unstable he was, but he eventually turned things around and became a hero again. Fun fact: when Scott broke into Hank’s house in New York, Hank was Yellowjacket at the time, so the Ant-Man role was up for grabs.
    If you want to dive deeper into Hank and Janet, I’d definitely recommend The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. It’s only two seasons, so it’s a pretty quick watch, but totally worth it.

  • @TheAmazingWebhead
    @TheAmazingWebhead 2 дні тому +1

    Good reaction to meeting Marvel’s tiniest Avenger! So Hope’s parents, Hank Pym & his wife Janet who were the OG Ant-Man & The Wasp in Marvel lore were founding members of The Avengers. The roster was Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Ant-Man, & Wasp. They swap them for Black Widow & Hawkeye for the movies which was kind of unfortunate. Janet/Wasp was even the one who came up with the team name. Captain America didn’t join until issue 4. Hank Pym was also the creator of Ultron in the comics. For the MCU, they made it Tony. Ultron’s creation was the push for Hank/Ant-Man to leave the team feeling responsible as well as dealing with mental health issues. Years later, Scott Lang would be introduced to take up the mantle in the early 2000’s. So you can see that the MCU wanted the Ant-Man movie to more about the idea of a character taking the role of a legacy hero.

    The thing about visitation is that if it's at Scott's place, Cassie's mom is dropping her daughter off at the apartment of a stranger, who is also a felon, as we know Luis was Scott's cellmate at San Quinten. Luis is clearly (clear to the audience, at least) still committing crimes, which would potentially put Cassie in harm's way if police were to stage a raid at the apartment. If Scott can walk into Luis' apartment and be greeted by 2 additional felons, who he does not know, it's really no place to bring a kid for visitation.
    If they do visitation at Cassie's house, the mom and her fiance would then be the hosts, which comes with responsibilities and time commitments that may not be practical or fair to put on them, espescially considering it appears the mom isn't legally obligated to allow Scott to see Cassie, probably because he's a felon. So Scott needs his own place to safely keep Cassie all day, and for overnights. I'm all for the Robin Hood thing, but the right choice has consequences. If I had a kid and was considering committing a felony, even for the most noble of reasons, I would at least google some key points about child custody and felons before making such a drastic choice with such predictable and devastating personal consequences.
    Also, it seems that when Scott said he'd "given it a lot of thought" and he "really wants to be a part of her life," he may have been alluding to not wanting to be a father early on and/or being a largely absentee dad in her earliest years, and changing his mind about wanting to be involved while he was in prison. If I had a child with a man who more or less peaced out for the late night feedings and diaper changes, ended up in jail for years, and now wants to reconnect with her, I would also demand some type of time and energy commitment before allowing my child's father to flit in and out of her life on a whim or put her in danger. Cassie's mom is doing her due diligence.
    One of my favorite parts of the movie is how understandable everyone's behavior is based on their loyalties and responsibilities. Scott's loyalty is with his daughter, so of course he'll do anything to see her more, including going back to crime. Cassie's mom's loyalty is to Cassie and she obviously has a maternal responsibility to keep Cassie safe, which means keeping her away from criminal activity. Paxton's loyalties are to Cassie and her mom, as well as the law, and he has the responsibility to uphold the law, even if that means arresting Scott and potentially damaging his relationship with Cassie.

    Here are some Ant-Man details and facts. In the comic book Hank Pym was the creator of Ultron. Hank was not a superhero but he engaged in hearing after meeting his wife Janet Van dyne the former shield agent. Hank found out about the effect of the pym particle on the brain after he attacked Janet and hawk still has outburst just not to that extreme extent. Scott Lang is the third 3rd to 4th version of Ant-Man in the comic books with no real backstory. Hank was the first yellow jacket in the comics after he took on a more villainous persona.

    There are several theories where the saying "In like Flynn" came from, one of them relating to the actor Errol Flynn, but I feel the one that fits best refers to Edward J. Flynn (most prominent c. 1922 - 1943), a New York City political boss who became a campaign manager for the Democratic party during Franklin Delano Roosevelt's presidency. Boss Flynn's "Democratic Party machine exercised absolute political control over the Bronx.... The candidates he backed were almost automatically 'in'."

    Of **course** Darren Cross is a bad guy - he's bald 🙂 . It is a common comics trope. Remember Iron Man 1, both the head terrorist and Obadiah (Tony's business partner) were bald. See also Lex Luthor, Superman's arch villain. Villains are often made to look odd in some way to make you dislike them, while heroes are good-looking.
    This trick was used so much it got subverted in more recent media. For example in the TV series "Once Upon a Time", the Evil Queen is played by a beautiful woman (Lana Parilla).
    ====
    Fortunately my divorce was amicable, but custody and visitation are up to the judge, who is supposed to act in the best interests of the children. In Scott's case, the judge decided being in prison for a felony was not something his daughter should be exposed to at a young age. As he is now unemployed and living with and hanging out with other ex-cons, it wouldn't change that decision.
    When Luis is posing as a security guard, he starts whistling "It's a Small World", the theme song from a Disney park ride where you are supposed to be shrunk down. Disney owns Marvel, so it is one of their inside jokes.

    LMAO You got the 2 terms mixed up, Scott was in Prison when we first meet him, then he later escaped from Jail with the suit 😂😅 Which is why he has such a hard time finding a decent job, most places dont want to hire an Ex-Prison Convict because they are associated with committing Real Bad Hardcore Crimes… Most of the time

  • @christopherhardy8937
    @christopherhardy8937 День тому

    Yes, from an earlier question. It's really like this for ex cons. Especially felons. Finding a good job is hard enough even without a record. The idea behind it is to force former criminals to re-offend so they'll get locked up again. That's why so little money goes to prisoner rehabilitation and preparation for coming back into society. I'm speaking from experience here. And before anyone comments about committing crimes in the first place, that isn't the issue here. It's continuing to punish those who have already been punished

    Of course it's only my opinion but I would take Hawkeye out or Captain America out of your top 5 instead of Thor. I always loved Captain America in the comics but like Iron Man said in one of the Avengers movies is that "everything that makes Captain America special comes out of a bottle or tube"(can't remember which))). And you think about it You could give ANYONE a formula to make a supersoldier. The only reason he became a superhero, got someone like Peggy and got a bigger body is because of a formula. Peggy more than likely would never have fell for him if he was in his very skinny form. All of the other heroes are different in abilities they bring Iron Man with technology, Thor being a god, Hawkeye with his skill and Black Widow with her combat skills...Captain America just gets big. Again I loved Captain America in the comics because he was a hero and didn't need his backstory....plus I feel the early Captain America movie was BORING!!!!

    The child visitstion rights shouldn't be locked behind having an aparement etc. Joint custody, sure, but not visitation.
    Why does she expect him to pay child support when he doesn't have a job yet.
    It is pretty bad how the one mistake can prevent you from getting a job forever, even with a masters degree

      He literally flat out said that it was in prison he realized his actions had an affect on his daughter. Meaning through the whole process of his original crime he didn't once think, "how will this affect my daughter?". That is something I don't want around anyone's kids. He messed up and needs the actual consequences of his actions
