I used to race in the national seniors championship back in the late 90s, (i was around 16-17). I think Anthony Davidson and Christian Horner were in the same championship. The modern karts are brutal, and nuts.
I think Tiff understated the fitness & strength required to do kart racing, karting is brutal... upper body feels bruised afterwards
EppingForest304 He does complain about the pain while he was racing.
Rib protection can help with pain
Always dude, I get a hella chicane that destroys me
Pretty sure how that program works one Winges other loves it keep you interested same old same old....
Did a 30 min session and had to get out after halfway I was in so much pain!
2:46 --> the smoothest transition between narrators ever! Jason starts the sentence and Tiff finishes it!
it took me quite a while to realise that wasn't the same person
I used to do karting in the early 1990's. Best experience in my life and far better than the Lamborghini Murcielago or Ariel Atom I drove!
I did karting in the 90s too, but I've never driven a supercar or an Atom. Glad to know I wasn't missing that much! LOL
@@zounds13 there is nothing quite like karting for the adrenaline rush and 0-60 mph in less than three seconds is faster than almost every modern supercar. Sadly I wasn't allowed to drive the Lamborghini or Atom as fast as I would have liked to and the instructor said when to speed up or slow down. It was more of a 'driving experience' and if I ever get the chance to do something like that again it will be a 'track day experience' because I don't want to drive a fast car slow!
after my first proper kart race, I couldn't unclench my hands afterwards for a good 20 mins. it's not just the lack of power steering, you have to cling on for dear life or you'll come out the side of the kart in the bends!
BuzzaB77 if you come out the karts you’re not seated correctly - maybe ask them for a seat insert next time
If it’s rental karting the you don’t go fast and wouldn’t come out anyway and if it’s your own kart then your need a smaller seat because there is something really wrong if you are coming out of the seat
I absolutely love go-karting.
Sonny Lindfield they're not a go kart, they are a kart. Big difference.
Yeah, 2 letters different...lol.
It's kart. Not go-kart. Trust me, I do it properly.
They are RACING KARTS ;)
Go-kart is the rental ones. Kart is the racing ones.
PF International has had an extension added to feature a fast esses and a cross over
lololol Tiff said go karts are toys.
16,000 blissful 2 stroke rpm 👌
At 2:58 he lets off the gas and goes on the break and you can here a reving noise
muse knights of cydonia is the song if you wanted to know for no reason
I'm pretty sure Tiff was just playing a character understating the importance of karting
Certainly - I raced against Tiff in a 24hr endurance kart race at Le Mans. I think the clip is more fun if they have to take opposing views at the start, but trust me, Tiff knows all about karting.
I’ve only driven electric carts and the throttle response is feeble. You put your foot down and 2 seconds (which is a agony when racing) later the throttle responds. Either way it was still fun.
If you ever get the chance then drive a proper kart. You will notice the difference straight away as throttle response is instant. I wish I could turn back the clock and do it all again.
I’ll bet it’s crazy responsive!
@@alexpaumen3937 oh yes and they are a joy to drive. Proper little pocket rockets!
When I was racing around I had so much G I felt sick
The place where some of the best racing drivers train. I’ve recently experienced go karting for the first time. It’s SO FUN!
My local kart track 😁😎 and it's even more awesome to drive with the extra bridged loop.
Just came here after reading about it in Jasons book, well worth a read (especially if you get it for nothing but hey ho Jason wont mind that after reading what he got up to lol )
Kid: Mum, can we get top gear
Mum: we’ve got top gear at home
*Top Gear at home*
Totally different kettle of fish.
My Tony kart with me on board, heavily padded and covered seat, front brakes added, phone +mounts, alfano dash, usb output and 12v sockets weighs 30kg less than those karts loaded. The only problem is I can't take it to PFI because it's not race legal. But I do go to karttune@PFI to get it tuned and checked.
I used to race with Jason im sure he remembers Rowrah track in 80s .
Try out the 250cc superkart
You want to see the best drivers in the world ? then go and watch a National or International karting event - not F1.
Yet F1 has the most talented drivers in the world so I don't get your point?
Ayrton Senna himself even admitted that karting is the purest form of racing
@@Mk1Male They all started in karts !!
@@jeffbelter768 _"You want to see the best drivers in the world ? then go and watch a National or International karting event - not F1"_ So what you are agreeing with is that the best drivers in the world aren't F1 drivers, even though they started in karting. Doesn't make sense does it?
@@Mk1Male F1 drivers are some of the best drivers in the world and they started their racecraft very young in karting !!
Why didn't you drive the top level kart...the 125cc 6 speed shifter?
those will rip you apart. I have one and its scary to fully push it.
After watching Superstore when I hear Tiff during the race, I hear Glenn...
LOL Tiff sounds like a Muppet when he's yelling
I approve of the use of Knights of Cydonia
Ya'll can't handle ME!!!!
Aww memories
Wish we could see them do the new PFi
Oh this is before the bridge was added
45 laps around Bayford Meadows or Whilton Mill in my X30 destroys me every time
Number 5 won i believe! ;)
Its Karting! Go karting is what you did as Kids down the Street.
I bet they were on a medium tire!
When was kz allowed at pfi
ArmageddonRacing you can’t there banned. Go there monthly. Paul fletcher hates them
i go at rye house
dumb people always thinking that its a toy
selam
I own a kosmic!!
+Altezza RSR. Lucky you and I never owned a kart and just rented them for the racing weekends! Got a 4th place trophy in my very first race! I still have my two MSA racing kart licences somewhere.
Starfish_central Nice. There are some manufacturers that make go-karts for a good price. (Like intrepid, energy etc) The briggs and stratton motor is very cheap and easy to use. I would recommended buying a cheap kart (preferably from intrepid because they're everywhere) and a B&S motor because they're very cheap
+Altezza RSR. I will never own a kart due to my health problems and wouldn't pass the medical to get a license. So glad that I did karting when I was younger and I have very fond memories of doing it.
im a cadet im in honda cadet
They need to do an interview where they straight up ask: "so what's it like to be a blatant rip off"
What you talking about
@@lastp6905 ever heard of top gear
@@cccc285 fifth gear is a different format to top gear
@@cccc285 Tiff hosted Top Gear in the 90s you clown. It was cancelled so he and others left, made 5th Gear then Top Gear came back in it's new format.
Clearly Jason let off the gas for this filming: Tiff has no driving posture on the kart and keeps correcting the steering all over.
+Flavio C. Yep Jason let him win and Jason could have beat him driving in reverse if he wanted too! (apart from the fact karts don't have reverse gears!)
Jason did win tiff lost do u mean tiff let off
Fake entertainment, nothing to do with a serious or objective review of just how hard & demanding driving a modern race Kart is.
I recently attended the SKUSA nationals in Las Vegas USA, where IndyCar's Will Power raced. He couldn't even crack the top 10.
Too much talking imo
There Not very smooth
5th gear is s bad
First
Aww memories
