    That was an insanely meta and fascinating analysis of one the show's most interesting eras & Doctors? The Trial of a Time Lord is one of my favorite classic arcs and a lot of that is due to the context of what was happening behind the scenes. Its great to see you pushing the boundaries on these videos and creating such unique content especially by the standards of your usual unboxing videos.
    Hate to be "that guy" but as far as I can tell, within the context of the show, the Tenth Doctor isn't meant to qualify as two separate incarnations. He simply used two regenerations, the first of which he just used to heal himself. Also, technically the Meta-Crisis clone is only created after that by the hand merging with Donna's DNA, so I don't think he can be classed as a result of a regeneration. Put simply, the Tenth Doctor didn't change his body, but he did use a full regeneration. It is needlessly complicated but I think that's the best way of putting it. You can disagree obviously. Keep up the great work.

    I think the Valeyard in the New Series (apart from the Dream Lord who does fit nicely into this timeline) might be embodied by the Tenth Doctor's "Time Lord Victorious" moment, that one moment where the Doctor is on the brink of forcing the universe to his own idea of how it should be, and the Eleventh Doctor's subsequent arc in Series 6 about realizing the effect that mindset has on both himself and the rest of the universe, and stepping back from the brink. The character arc continues with the Doctor learning to forgive himself for the darkest period in his life in Day of the Doctor and through the Twelfth Doctor's quest to be a better man, which results in Twelve's speech to his future self and the kinder and more moral Thirteenth Doctor, who is far removed from the darkness of the Valeyard and the Time Lord Victorious. While I would love to see the actual character of the Valeyard in the New Series, I feel like that, whether it was intentional or not, Russel T Davies and Steven Moffat have paid tribute to the character in a neat way.

    To be concluded? Keeping in mind that there are definitely more Classic Blu-ray box sets on the way, guaranteed.

    I personally believe that the "Tenth Doctor" is actually both the eleventh, and twelfth incarnations, and the Meta-Crisis Doctor IS the Valeyard. Or perhaps the Valeyard could be The Tenth Doctor at some point between "The Waters of Mars" and "The End of Time".
    Also, if "The Timeless Children" stands, perhaps the Valeyard is from a previous life cycle (it could be that the Timelords reset The Doctor every thirteen incarnations, in order to hide their identity as The Timeless Child), and The Master, not yet knowing The Doctor's true identity assumed the Valeyard was from the future.

      Maybe you could make it that the fugitive doctor becomes the Valeyard & keep her in cannon as some kinda break in the doctor caused by something Moffatt would use like his meddling in Hellbent or something like that.

    And of course, the doctor regenerates into his 7th incarnation- Who is much more kinder and friendly~ And sees it as his mission to take down his enemies, such as the Daleks and Cybermen for good.- If you ask me, the 7th doctor finishes the Sixth doctor's arc.

    I've always felt the Valeyard was a Watcher. Similar to what we saw with K'anpo in Planet of Spiders or Four in Logopolis. Hewas extracted by the corrupt High Council as Ten turned into Eleven (between the twelfth and final incarnation). Which may account a bit for why the regeneration was so violent and wrecked the TARDIS.

    • @EditedAF987
      @EditedAF987 3 роки тому

      I dunno, the sixth doctor suggests that theory in Trial of the Valeyard but the inquisitor shuts it down:
      “Doctor, have you ever had a watcher?”
      “Well yes, once.”
      “And did he look anything like the Valeyard?”
      “Well no.”
      And it makes sense, a watcher is only there to watch and initiate a regeneration, not try and actively kill his previous incarnation and steal his regenerations for himself.

      @@EditedAF987 I'm not big on Big Finish stuff being canon. It's an alternate universe to me. If my Watcher theory gets shot down in the actual show, I'll accept it.

    Why do Timelords even have Tardises if they are never supposed to meddle and only observe. They don't use their Tardises to observe either since, according to the tenth doctor, the Timelords literally looked down from on top of some galaxies. The actually observed from Gallifrey, they didn't visit the other planets. So, why Tardises? And why did they keep upgrading them, since it is said in the Time Meddler that the monk had a better Tardis than the Doctor. And the Doctor's is a type 40. So how many types are there? And why did they keep making them? Or have them?

    • @EditedAF987
      @EditedAF987 4 роки тому

      They would presumably need them in case they needed to fix something that had gone wrong. And they had the CIA do some shady covert Meddling for them as well

    there actually could be TWO candidates for the valeyard as of my writing of this: The Dream Lord (Amy's Choice) and the Fugitive "Doctor" (Fugitive of the Judoon) as both of them came into place after the Metacrisis doctor and the final regeneration.
    if the BBC want to retcon the timeless child twist, they could have the Fugitive actually turn out to be the valeyard

  • @NealKlein

    Let's talk about Peri for a minute.
    I had the pleasure of actually dining with Nicola Bryant *and* getting insulted by Colin Baker in character as the Sixth Doctor. Nicola was as sweet and gracious as Peri is a screechy, annoyed sourpuss. I think John Nathan Turner hoped for some character development that Michael Grade never permitted. I loved Nicola Bryant and Colin Baker. I didn't care for Peri or the Sixth Doctor.
    I think you can be as forgiving with the storytelling of Colin Baker's Doctor as one can be, but it was executed badly. It came across as desperate spitballing in the United States back when the momentum was going out of the show.
