How it sounds to me when I hear people say they like the sound of a internal combustion engine I can just picture some stupid idiot in the early 1900s sing they like horseshit everywhere and the smell of horseshit and they don't like all the noise that the engine makes... they're convincing themselves they like the sound of the pitter patter of the feet of the horses on the ground...

When I worked at the Tesla Clarkston Location, there were associates that told me how Dirty Tesla was kind of a jerk, and his wife was rude too!!

You looking for a medal? What’s the benefit to posting that?
I mean, he gets to edit his videos, but he posts stuff that would make your assertion look odd. Both of them come across as ordinary people, pleasant and mostly very polite.

Met both of them at the Muskegon Tesla meet up. Both were friendly, polite. What you say surprises me.

In response to Dr question about what do you do when FSD is better than the human driver: first principles, constitutional goal system. Tell it what you want. Don't tell it, "drive like me." Tell it, don't hit anything, don't kill anyone, get me there in a reasonable time, cooperate with the other traffic, don't damage the car or anything else, play nice, be reasonable.

Training data (or a lack thereof) is Teslabot's (and other humanoid bots') Achilles heel. If FSD needs billions of miles of training data for a task as simple as speeding up or slowing down and turning left or right to navigate a carefully engineered road network, how do Teslabots replace much human labor with practically no training data? The number of the degrees of freedom and the complexity of the terrain being navigated and the complexity of the tasks to be performed are all orders of magnitude greater. The mechanical dexterity of the bot is not the hurdle. It needs a human brain more than it needs humanoid dexterity.
Optimus fans have seen too much Star Trek TNG. Teslabot is not Mr. Data and won't be for the foreseeable future if ever. If Teslabots are doing useful work in Tesla factories at this point, they're performing tasks like boxing batteries from an assembly line that a more conventional robot arm could do as well at lower cost, and they still require considerable training as well as human monitoring. A Teslabot won't be doing your laundry or making your dinner, much less babysitting your kids, any time soon. If you want a bot to vacuum your floor or mow your lawn, you can already have one for much less than $10k, and Teslabots will cost far more than $10k initially.
Robotaxis could be as transformative and profitable as Musk imagines, but I've seen no evidence that FSD is up to the task yet, and a Tesla robotaxi service will have competition from established services like Waymo. If Musk is betting the farm on robotaxis by producing a dedicated vehicle (no steering wheel) at this point, I'd bet on a lower stock price a year out because FSD won't be ready when the vehicles roll off of the assembly line. Tesla needs the Model 2, to expand into the lower priced end of the car market, more than it needs a dedicated robotaxi or humanoid bots; otherwise, it'll bleed to death on the bleeding edge of technology.
And if Trump is elected (as now seems likely) with a Republican majority in Congress, tax credits for EV purchase and carbon credits paid to Tesla by legacy auto won't last long. Trump will still protect Tesla from Chyna (unfortunately for U.S. consumers), but Tesla could lose ten grand or more per vehicle in short order, and it's still essentially a luxury car brand with a correspondingly limited market. It needs the Model 2 a.s.a.p.

Humans have like 20 years of intensive personal training before they even begin to learn to drive. Meanwhile FSD starts as an infant. v12.4 is only a few months old.
Also humans learn from a wide variety of sources, not just driving, but a lot of that knowledge helps making decisions while driving. FSD has to learn everything from driving videos, it can't go to school, can't read books, can't chat with humans, can't practice with a tricycle, etc., but we expect it to predict human behavior, read signs, understand the logic of intersections, figure out how fast to drive without signs, and countless more things you so subconsciously while driving.
Imagine having to figure out the rules of a complex game from just observing players. I have personal experience with this, as an European I never learned the rules of baseball, and even after watching countless American movies, I still only have a general idea.
Now, Optimus is an entirely different case. It can use all the learning aids we have for humans, including reading and talking. ChatGPT can learn the rules of simple games from text input in a fraction of a second. Imagine how much easier it will be to teach the bot when you can just tell it what to do and what mistake it just made. This capability is coming to FSD too.
And a traditional robot arm is much more expensive than Optimus, and takes far more programming. Optimus only has to learn once, and then can adapt to specific tasks, while a robot arm has to be painstakingly configured every single time, even if you had a dozen doing the exact same task elsewhere. The program isn't transferable, because even the tiniest difference throws it off.
I've seen clear evidence that FSD is quickly progressing toward robotaxi. It's not there yet, but you have to also consider the rate if improvement, or you'll be continuously surprised. When you try to hit a moving target you have to aim ahead of it's current position.
And that's what Elon has to do when making plans for Tesla. Mass producing a dedicated robotaxi takes years, he has to start well before the software is ready.
