One of the first games to capture my attention as a young Auburn fan. I started playing football that year. Amazing to me how some of these games have impacted me over the years.
Those old Spurrier teams scared the living daylights out of me, and it made those wins in 1993, 1994 and 2001 all the sweeter. Also, this was Cadillac's coming out party.
That was an awesome game. One of the loudest games I've ever attended at Jordan-Hare. The loudest was the 2006 Florida, as far as noise for the entire game goes.
My son played football and I told him on more than one occasion, "If you have the ball on the last play of the game and you can tie or win the game with a touchdown, DON"T GO DOWN WITH THE BALL". Throw it backwards but don't get tackled with the ball.
I remeber this like yesterday.... I was in Nashville at Jillian's(A fake Dave and Buster's) and there were a buch of Arabic people there...a month after 9/11 lol. I sat at the bar and watched the game while everyone I was with danced. What a night
I remember watching this game at my grandmas when i was in 5th grade and was mad cause i couldnt watch the mike tyson vs lennox lewis fight that night if my memory serves me well.... but regardless war eagle!
Indeed it is an interception. Pate's interception satisfied all of these catch rules: www.sbnation.com/college-football/2018/8/30/17481378/ncaa-catch-rule-nfl-differences This is what constitutes a catch, according to the NCAA: To catch a ball means that a player: Secures control of a live ball in flight before the ball touches the ground. If a player goes to the ground in the act of catching a pass (with or without contact by an opponent) he must maintain complete and continuous control of the ball throughout the process of contacting the ground, whether in the field of play or in the end zone. If the ball touches the ground after the player secures control and continues to maintain control, and the elements above are satisfied, it is a catch.

Absolutely LOVE these classic games on old-school ESPN.

10/10 to include Fyffe audio. Great job.

Same night mike tyson fought lennox lewis
I love the lineman at the end picking the ball up like “really? I’m supposed to run with this?”

Future CFL legend Damon Duval with the game winner.
