- See my first impressions of the new Rupes HLR15 cordless 5" polisher, released in 2024. I am still waiting on our 6" HLR21, but we did get our two HLR15 polishers in yesterday after about four months of waiting since pre-order! Links to the polisher below:

I have used the new rupes & although it's smooth and quiet it will not be replacing my mark lll. Imo the mark lll has more power & will hold up longer overtime.
Interesting…the cordless is supposed to have more power.
Exactly my experience. What bugs me is that the company straight up lied to everyone advertising it as a more powerful machine. The hype was big.
@empy0 maybe I’m just used to how weak the flex were
@@HarkerHeightsCeramicCoatings yes I know from others that this is much more powerful than the Flex. But compared to the corded options it’s just too weak for heavy correction jobs. Even the Milwaukee cordless is much more powerful and does not stall. Milwaukee’s new high output battery technology is just ahead of other manufacturers and that could be a factor. When Rupes releases the ibrid power adapter for this I think a lot of the problems will resolve. I’m gonna stick with my trusty Mark 3 for now.
@empy0 I hear you but I’ve managed to do all cordless jobs with the flex for years, it’s not that bad with the right pad combo shrubs
Do you know what grease rupes uses in these new polishers? If so do you recommend changing it when its new?
No, Rupes recommends about once per month a small drop of dielectric grease. Something like this (note that they come with some already)

Congrats! How long did the battery last in your experience?
30-40 min polishing, zero issue where I was without battery today nor was Mike the video guy.
@@HarkerHeightsCeramicCoatings good to know. Mine is arriving on Saturday. I was thinking about buying an extra battery in the future.
@empy0 I haven’t yet ran into that issue where it would be an issue. I thought the same. But as of now I’m going to hold off. I also have two of them and me and my guy aren’t necessarily both using a 5 at the same time.
WOOOHOOOO!!!! What a cool machine!
@JZ_Cars honest I really enjoyed using it yesterday
What’s it like when cutting hard German paint? What combo would work best with the pads n polishes included?
You’re going to have to do a test spot. There’s no one single combo that works on all paint let alone all German paint or anything else. That’s a myth that some UA-camrs and detailers perpetuate.
You need to have a vast array of options to try out if your initial attempt doesn’t work
@@HarkerHeightsCeramicCoatings thank you my only worry is that if I purchase it and it’s not able yo cut enough!
@kamranhussain578 yeah it’s really tough to determine. I mean you can use a bunch of combos. The polisher will work. But to say that this pad and compound combo would or wouldn’t work. It depends on the condition of the paint, the car, your skill level, etc.
@@HarkerHeightsCeramicCoatings yes absolutely thanks for replying all the best
What’s the situation with the paint? Car washes? Regular abused?
Have you tried other branded pads with the new rupes?
Yeah I typically use lake country pads
Ok and there was no issues in regards to balance and performance?
Not that I ever notice
have you tested it against mk3 15?
No I haven’t owned one in a couple years
@@HarkerHeightsCeramicCoatings
Ok. I have to test it more. I have both hlr15 and 21. Reason is why i am asking that im reading mixed reviews of the power of hlr15. Imo its quite the same as mk3 15 and milwaukee 15, but just so so smooth and quiet that it feels unpowerful.
I just used mine today for a couple of hours. I have to say overall Im a little disappointed… this machine doesn’t seem to have anywhere close to the Mark III level of power. It’s fine on totally flat surfaces but as soon as you hit a slight curve it completely stalls or slows down. Rupes claims this has even more power than the Mark III? I just don’t understand what’s going on. Also when the battery hits 1 green light the speed maxes out at 5 and when it’s blinking green the speed maxes out at 4. Nobody is talking about these. To me it’s so obvious they sacrificed so much to get a decent battery life on paper.
I haven’t noticed that the battery just seemed to die which it’s supposed to. Yes it has more power. I haven’t had a super big issue with stalling any more than any other machine I’ve used
I’m not paid by Rupes I paid full price. Just sharing my experience
@@HarkerHeightsCeramicCoatings I’m going to give it some more time and make a comparison video with the Mark III. Im using the same Rupes pads and Sonax polish and stalling is a huge issue for me currently. Plus I’m using it at max speed…
Next time the battery is at the final green light try to move the speed to 6 and you’ll see it won’t.
@empy0 it’s light years ahead of my flex was so I have zero complaints. I don’t use cords. It’s cordless or bust
@@HarkerHeightsCeramicCoatings so it’s better than the cordless flex xce? Have you correct hard German paint with new rupes?
