Brought me to tears when Mrs. Mendez choked up talking about her husband passing the day after the book was cleared.
It wasn´t long ago that I stumbled upon Jonna and the same day I bought The Moscow Rules! I have always been interested in the life of spies but no-one have captured me like Jonna talking about it! Jonna, if you are reading this - I am so sorry for your loss! Also, I wish I could visit the museum but I´m way over in Sweden.
Same here!! I didn’t buy The Moscow Rules right away, but I was so glad once I did. Jonna is just so incredibly fascinating!
will take time to know about it..
God bless america, a beautiful story and a great look into spycraft. Thankyou all❤
I love the SpyCast presentations and after watching several in a row, I wondered:
How did the spare guitar and bass riff become the musical leit motif for all things clandestine? Did it start with the iconic James Bond/007 riff or did it originate elsewhere?
Also: please don't change the Spy Cast score or intro. I love it! 😊
Thank you!!!
17:50 found Carmen Sandiego
11:58 Right next to Black Widow.
My thoughts exactly!
Lady looks and Sounds JUST like the lady from the movie Hereditary. The one who the main character, the mom, meets outside the grief counseling meeting.
She took was a spookie faker... 🤔
So the mention of the beltway building comes up and then she's talking about a sniper in Dubai. Beltway sniper long time ago. Out of the trunk of a hang on a minute let me see if I can recall the car it was green I believe there was a gas station involved and there was a hole drilled in the back panel like another or a valara it was older perhaps like a Skylark or something. I don't know I have to look it up I'll be right back
She said she never watched Homeland. Hmm. Not sure I'm buying that since she talked about it during another video and talked about Carrie's crazy eyes. How would she know such an intimate detail about a character if she'd never watched the show?
It might be from the WIRED videos she did? The ones where she reacts to clips.
A GREAT LADY, THIS COUNTRY OWES HER A LOT FOR HER SERVICE AND SACRIFICES SHE HAS MADE OVER THE YEARS.
Such a sweet and cool lady.
R.I.P. Tony Mendez!! ❤️❤️❤️🇺🇸❤️❤️❤️
Do u no how did it
Dear Jonna,
I don't know how I stumbled upon your video, but I am so glad I did. I think you are smart, classy, and one tough cookie! Bless your heart for sharing parts of your lives and stories with the masses. Can't wait to get your book!
We can only wish that this amazing person was POTUS.
oh she was...
6:51. I am so sorry for your loss. He sounds like a lovely man and a good husband. You and your husband are no doubt integral to many people's safety and survival. I have your books on my list and love your insights to the work. All the best, thank you for your service.
This is a brilliant Lady. I admire her very much!
I have enjoyed several of Jonna's videos/interviews and find her so interesting. I'd like to get this book!
So buy it........ 🧐🧐🧐
Came across WIRED's Masterminds just last evening, and have been watching every video i could find of Jonna Mendez since then, even in office 😁 Love listening to her. Will probably order every book of hers
Marilyn Vanhoy lol she’s addicting isn’t she?! 😂❤️
Both Tony and Jonna are heroes of mine: I've read all of their books, and their experiences are something we can all aspire to. Jonna's advice on the Internet and thinking critically is extremely pertinent as X & Meta loosen their news vetting procedures.
Why was that lady that got up to ask a question wearing that big red hat and long coat inside? Everyone else in the audience had no coats and many had no sleeves. That was odd. it was a good question but, odd appearance.
Stacie Berumen she’s on her way to her graduation ceremony but got caught up in this talk
I think she was dressed as Carmen San Diego since she was at a spy event.
Did you notice the strange finger movements she did prior to clapping. She was definitely doing something undercover; like a secret recording maybe.
Most people don’t have an intelligence problem, they have a getting it to work problem. I like listening to your experiences.
Wish she would have come out and ripped off a disguise like mission impossible style
She did, she just did before she went on stage
17:45 All these years wondering where was Carmen Sandiego and now there she is ...
Lmao
Many years ago while living in Fl, I happened to become friends with an Army Master Sergeant in Special Forces who was an instructor at the Key West Naval base there. He was an expert at underwater demolitions. He and a select team would go on secret missions to S America, exit from a nuclear sub a mile offshore, swim or raft into shore, sneak into some small jungle village, assassinate some mucky muck, sneak back out to the sub, which never surfaced, and back to Florida. Total mission time barely 4-5 days. The CIA would plant stories in the local media in the country where this happened that “local insurgents” had perpetrated the dirty deed. We would be drinking and partying at his home on the base and he would tell the stories of his, with others who had been with him during the missions. I sometimes left the room for fear that the next day he would regret talking about it with us present. Still friends with him and his wife 30 years later.
Oh what I would give to sit in on those conversations! I LIVE for those opportunities! I KNOW you're captivated with every single story!!
He was a killer.
What he did has absolutely no honor.
What he did was a violation of basic human rights and a criminal act.
I wouldn’t want anything to do with such a person.
Content starts at 2:20
So knowledgeable, she would be great to have conversations with
It’s a fantastic book!! I have the audio version n finished it in no time! It’s really is an AMAZING piece!! Highly recommended!!!!
How do I love Aunt Jonna- let me count the ways! Wait a minute- does the Spy Museum have a gift shop?
Been driving round Moscow disguised as Vladimir for last few years and no one has stopped me!😊😊
I'm not sure why this popped up in my feed but I'm glad it did, shes had one interesting life and she's a fascinating woman.
Can contacts read messages in waterspots I keep tryin lol jk
I would love to travel an exhibition with you and have jonna come speak
I wish I could give this double "likes". Jonna is a fascinating, interesting, excellent speaker and storyteller besides being an top spy!
I subscribed because of Joanna mendez. She is the best
The Queen of hearts is always your best friend unless you're just a useful idiot. Me! Idiot no. Useful perhaps. Progression unavoidable. Good 🤞 the few the proud the Marines that is the best friend in America.
I have always loved listening to Jonna. The way she tells a story is so engaging. You somehow walk away feeling like you've heard a deeply detailed account, even as you know that the bit you're getting is maybe 10% of the whole story.
It's beautiful how clearly and deeply in love with Tony she is, and I can only imagine how hard it was to get up on stage and talk about him so soon after his passing. I hope that the joy of his memory can balance the pain of his absence. It was a privilege just to share the world with him.
The friggin Chevy Caprice and it's like a '94 to that configuration on the headlights right there I'll tell you what it's like the year before. Different way I A. Image analysis I love you guys take it easy. Thanks inspiration is gratis. That's Latin LOL
However, the ability to improvised adapting overcome all of that BS would be outstanding. From Virginia to Oregon coast to coast.
At least it's standing out to me. I think outstanding would be an understatement. No honor courage integrity or commitment whatsoever. At least not to their country.
The invisibility and the goggles what a concept. Hopefully the bad guys never got a hold of any of that. Track and Trace. They must know their time is short!
Just watched this today 28 April 2022, and I wish I could have been there ... Ms. Mendez you are an amazing Person with an extraordinary life and extraordinary stories to listen to ... I just am out of words. Form a non-Us citizen, born in Roma Italy and now living in Australia, a big THANK YOU for all your hard work made in the almost 30 yrs @ CIA; it surely made the difference in the lives of many millions of people in the west.
I just got to the part where it's like just assume everyone that you go into is bugged. No kidding. I would have thunk it. Upon occasion but no there's no way. Can't believe it for a minute hahaha
I saw that dubai hit documentary and those agents wld of been transferred to work in the mossad but they wont be a foreign agent again is what was said n it was also a rush job hit as well. Yes shes rite they knew all the cameras were there. Thats why they wouldnt be field agents n so on. Also the lookouts on the hit wld of been Israeli special forces n NOT all mossad agents. Because there wasent all of them needed to do the hit. Only 2 men were needed as hit team. Others were other jobs.
Every time I see you're redacted eyes I fall more in love. Happy Saint Patty's Day. 🍀
Being all disguised and stuff lady let me take a look at you now LOL good stuff.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Argo was brilliant like she knows who wrote that. LOL thanks again there's your giggle
At video minute 15:00, Jonna says "The work (at the C.I.A.) is not political." 16:16 Jonna says "The facts are getting lost" Mendez was responding to the question, "How do civilians get involved in Spy craft?" This argument is screaming for the scientific method. We need evidence to make good decisions. We can know we are making the right decision when our actions improve the living conditions on earth. You can report a lot of facts, but still never know the truth. The problem with spycraft is the entire enterprise is based on the assumption that we can not trust each other. At video minute 42:42, Jonna responded by saying "Vote." Clearly, the work the CIA does is political. The CIA would do very well to listen to the civilian community. The CIA does inform the President on a regular basis. The President has a responsibility to take the reports seriously. For many months prior to the September 11, 2001 attacks on the Twin Towers, ordinary citizens knew it was going to happen. We did not have any actual intelligence about the crime. It was a gut feeling. I found evidence of this in the crafting community. A quilt magazine I own had a story about a school teacher who made a quilt with clocks on it. For six months prior to the attacks, a child in her kindergarten class had drawn a picture of a clock with its hands at 9:11. He drew this picture over and over again obsessively. She memorialized it in her quilt. I also watched a chanel nine Seattle program about a police detective in New York who believed this attack was about to happen. His superiors removed him from his position because he kept warning them about this attack. They treated him like he was crazy. They refused to take him seriously. I watched that program about a year before the twin towers attacks.
🙏👌

The bad guys have an outstanding ability to create tinnitus.
❤️❤️❤️
What a stalwart lady. She's amazing.
And don't forget about the NSA
Schizophrenia ghostwriter, you are beautiful ❤️
What if I robbed you to see what you had, but you gave it back to me and said, #loveyourselfmore
Thanks so much.
❤️❤️❤️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
In a world where 'badass' typically means 'not straight vanilla' its refreshing to see a badass who looks more like a Karen. Reminds me if martha stewart lol
15:22 truth.
“Get out and vote” - as if any U.S. election would influence Saudi Arabia’s willingness to accept culpability one iota. Tragic for someone so accomplished to have become so nakedly political.
Bias, bigotry and bullshit.
