Is this pretty much my signature look? Yes! Is it an easier way of navigating dark eyeshadow that results in no fallout? Also yes! That's why I wanted to do this video... a resource for those who may have struggled with eyeshadow and I think it's better than the way I used to it. Thanks for taking time to watch- I appreciate it!! :)

This. Is. Amazing!!! I'm 57 and I struggle with eyeshadow because I'm always trying to do transition, inner lid, outer lid, under-eye... and it always looks like a muddy mess. I will definitely be trying this technique asap! Thank you, Emily!! 💕💕💕

MY GOODNESS, YOU’RE A FREAKIN’ GENIUS!!!!!! At 62 and hooded eyelids, THIS is what I’ve been dying to find!!! I am SO very grateful, Emily!!! That flipping over of the brush and applying the shadow upwards is a game changer for lifting the eyes. 😍😍😍
Emily, for us 60-ish and up gals with small eyes, can we get away with wearing dark shadow colors like this dark purple? Or should we instead go with a medium tint as our darkest color?

I have mature hooded eyelids, crepey and all that fun. As Emily was talking about with placing the dark color into and above the crease....what I've noticed is jabbing that darkest color into the outer "crease" (that spot over the eyeball when you push in with a brush). It creates a depth which breaks up the fleshy hood. I never know the result of my shadowy attempts. Some days are good and some days are really bad!!! ; ) Have fun while you play with your makeup. I wish you much success!!!

Oh, Emily, this is just great! I am 52 and while not a newbie to eyeshadow (hello 80's makeup looks!) the application goals have changed with age. I am dealing with crepey lids, crows feet, and always looking for techniques to give the illusion of younger, more lifted, appearance. False lashes aren't really my thing, but a shadow technique that gives the illusion of lift and false lashes? Sign me up! This was so easy and I really appreciate your thoroughness in explanation. Thank you! Can't wait to try this tomorrow. :)

    • @LoveABun
      @LoveABun 4 роки тому +1

Deb taber I’m 62 with crepey lids. I tried this technique this evening. It really does work! Looked nicer than any eye shadow application I’ve ever tried before. And it was super easy. The flipping of the brush and stroking upwards was a game changer. I lifted my brows by looking into the mirror with a wide-eyed look. This pulled up/straightened out the eyelids a bit. I then brought the darker shadow up above the crease line. It made a big difference, lift wise.
My biggest problem is keeping the darker shadow in that outer 1/3 area. My eyes are so small that I end up covering the outer HALF of the eye and that’s too much dark color for me. Need to work on that.
It’s also a bit difficult not to let the darker shadow go outward from the outer edge of the eye, especially when you have small eyes. But I’m going to work on it!
Emily is a jewel and wealth of knowledge and info!
I used a medium shade instead of a dark shade like Emily uses here. I hope she answers my question re: whether or not it’s appropriate for mature women with small, crepey eyes to use dark colors like what she used, or if we should stick to medium shades.

I remember getting ready for my bartending job one night, and I dropped my small 5 pan nude palette. The only shade that survived was the black, so I did a 1 shadow smokey eye in the same technique you just showed. Sometimes it really is that simple, no need for 5 shadows!

You're probably never going to see this, but you have no idea how much you've helped me. I've been trying to do this technique for weeks, and it just isn't right.
    Now it will be.
Thank you so much! I appreciate you!! 😘

Incredible video. Just what I needed. Who would have thought a light and dark eyeshadow could give such an amazing lifted look. You're blending skills are flawless. Every makeup look you've done is stunning.
I'd to to just say you have the
most gorgeously featured face. Beautiful cat eyes, perfect cute little nose, perfectly shaped lips, high cheek bones and lovely dark hair...... absolutely beautiful❤️

You inadvertently helped me with an eye irritation I’ve had for years, especially when I wore mascara. You mentioned that your eyelashes point downward and that you curled your lashes. When I curled my lashes (I had a curler that I had never used), the issue went away. You gave me the idea that my lashes at the outside of my eye could be pointing too far down and causing irritation. So thank you 🙏 very much.

Emily! I just had to write another comment and say that I hope you do more videos like this, tutorials that are simple but what makes makeup look good. I have always loved how you have done your makeup and I loved when you were reading the news, you would do some videos about the tips that you had learned from other news readers and from just practicing and I always loved that information and so I go back to those videos sometimes but I've always been hoping, that you would do new videos on those wonderful on those wonderful styles because you've probably refined your technique and found even better ways to teach us how to do these classic looks which are very complementary and so I just hope you do more videos like this. thank you so much for everything that you do for all of us! Your videos are wonderful.

Thank you! I have hooded eyes and always wondered how can I get the shadow to show more. Never thought of turning the flat brush upwards. My mind is blown and I'm excited to try this tomorrow.

Thank you so much for a super simple eye tutorial! I love eyeshadow looks, but with hooded eyes I’m always at a loss for what to do besides simply using my bronzer above the crease. This is soooooo helpful. Yes! More teaching videos!!!!!

Emily, please consider a favorite brushes video-the whys for selecting those particular shapes and brands, and how to use to best use them. And I would like to hear you explain why you prefer a particular, more expensive brush for a certain area (eg, using a $16 Sigma E25 instead of a $4 Elf blending brush). Thanks!

Very helpful and what I would consider a comfy pair of jeans technique...dependable, dress it up or down, expensive or not and is doable by the average person. Thank you Emily from the everyday woman on the street everywhere!

This is beautiful. I have big brown eyes...which are now aging, the little 'fold' gets little attention except for vids for over 70's or 80's. Not there yet! This look is so simple and can work with any shadow color, any eye color...thank you...bravo. What fun to play...no limits of color...fun...
