Have you tried putting the spreader on top of the truck spreader and bungeeing it to the rack on the top one way can be a pain to get but maybe alittle easier than the back seat 🤷🏻♂️
Great job team Spencer, but I'd be curious to see how well the back blade works on the big commercial property that has the 0 tolerance so the tow motors can get around. To me another downside of using the back blade is you have to have a second truck to do the salting. I'm no snow removal company or a business owner but having 1 truck with plow and spreader seems to make more sense.
They run around with 2 trucks anyway. This way 1 with a bigger salter can plow, and do the salting, the other can do 16ft of plowing rather than 8. So 2 trucks are doing 24ft of plowing and 1 doing the salting, instead of 2 trucks doing 16ft and 2 salting.
@@yonugG23he used to go live for just about every storm system. Now he only seems to go live for something with maximum traffic ($$). And don’t get me started on the yall squad.
If you put a towel on the seat when you are done for the day, the snow will fall on the towel when you open the door and just shake it out before you get in. 😊
It’s about 6:45 Sunday night here in Wv. and we have about 3-4 inches and still coming down. Supposed to get 8-12. Hope not but if we do will just deal with it 😂😂. Y’all be safe careful stay warm and dry and keep up the great work. Glad to see your house is getting fixed. That was a pretty dangerous deal. lol. Get ya some rest too. Bruce in Wv!!!
With an EMPTY spreader, couldn't you just put it on top of the salt in the big bin, upside down, then just throw one ratchet strap over it to tie it down on your trip to the next stop? Seems easier that getting it in/out of the back seat. And on another note.... Have you guys tried 'walkie-talkie' headphones for communication with crew? Night time/bad weather might be helpful. Get the kind that's 'Talk to send' - no buttons to push.
Hey guys, great video as always, an idea for carrying that spreader. Maybe you can have something custom me that will fit into one of the slots on the side of the truck the stake holes. That would have a big hook or some kind of a small platform or someway you could, have the spreader on the side of the truck and not have to put it in the back of the truck. Also, they do sell spreaders with flaps that you can put down to direct the salt straight down or wherever you need it.
Just be aware when putting stuff on dash that it could make the inside of windshield all messy (similar to dog snot as some call it). I usually put my stuff on floor and have defrost/floor on.
Yall are awesome. Keep up the great work. Haters gonna hate and know better than the people that dont do this everyday. I do landscaping and people try to tell me the way i should do things. Things looks easy when you are sitting on the couch 😂.

When i was working snow removal we used the scotts spreader. Used it for fertilizer, seed, and ice melt. Worked well unless applying directly on ice, but it still was better than hauling around a bucket. Just used the scoop on steps, landings, decks, and ice when the wheels werent able to turn the spreader wheel.
This has been talked about for the last 5 days how can you get caught not ready? Sorry Shaun very disappointing. And your salt or lane clear looks like it has moisture in it, needs to be dry to use in that kinda spreader. just a tip

Those spreaders clog up quick when the salt is even slightly damp. Wondering if the bag type you strap to you would work for you. The bag zips closed. They sure work great for fertilizer. And I believe would work for salt. Takes very little room to store in your truck, and if it would work for you. I believe it would save you salt, time and energy. I believe the one I have holds about what your bucket holds.
The rear plow is a game changer. I know you are predicted to have a decent snow event tonight and into tomorrow. I wouldn't say you were unprepared, the only you didn't have immediately ready was putting the rear plow on and that didn't take 5 minutes. You wouldn't load salt right before using it. A corvette is not my first choice when driving in that weather.
Driving test? How many years have I been watching?? 😮 Have you tried or considered the Lesco spreader with the inflatable tires? Those looked like they were plastic

Good Ol' Lake Effect Snow always unexpectedly dropping snow when least expecting it. One area it could be green grass and sunshine or cloudy and right down the road could be inches of snow and whiteout conditions.
Shawn if the sidewalks are City property on the outside of the fence you shouldn’t have to salt them because it’s part of the city boulevard it’s the sidewalks that are inside the property line that are your responsibility
I think you should put a spreader on the front of one of the other toro multi force's that you have in the fleet ? so you can do those sidewalks at the school a lot faster than a bucket or that cheap spreader. plus you can use the isuzu landscape truck to haul it around.
Hello 👋 It just started snowing here where I am at in Illinois a bit ago. Luckily we are supposed to only get 2 - 4 inches. South of us they are supposed to get 6+ inches. Your new pretty green back blades are cool. Big time saver 😎 👌 That guy in the Corvette doesn't deserve it. Sorry but that just plain Stupidity. Stay safe out there. ❤
on the spreader i wander if a rubber tired would do better if you try it and works i have idea on a tote on the side of the truck that is all ways away from traffic in your reese hitch put you a oiece of square tube in it and make you a 1 foot by 1 to 11/2 foot square plat form use the expanded metal so it is easy to tie down would need to all ways end up with the spreader empty is down fall but hey hope you try this and it works for you
Too much salt in the spreader so the spinner gets stopped. I just use 20kl/44lbs at a time. Anymore and it won't work. And you have to make sure it's broken up nice and fine smaller than a nickle. That way it can pass through and not jam up..❤👍🙂. If I were you, with the bed salter, I would just drive close to the curb and get the lot and the sidewalk at the same time with the truck. Screw walkin 😂.🙂
Welcome to the back blade game , we have 3 short irons , too gun must have bought the company cuz they r identical , and yes any amount of snow will not slow u down lol
Yes top gun bought it before Jason passed away i also have a short iron back blade and drove it to Michigan and had Rob the new owner refurbish it still a great company with great customer service !!!!
I have the same spreader and was looking at it in my yard today saying what a POS it is. Only way i can get treated salt to go through it is to walk forward and give the spreader a jerk going back and make sure to hold setting adjustment knob while walking constantly jerking back and fourth.
You guys gonna put a front plow on that gmc do you can stack the snow after pulling it to your dump site? We have a 16ft short iron and a 9.2 dxt on one truck and a 12ft ebling back blade and 8.2 with wings on another truck.

Great minds think alike......
Doesn't really matter when it can't spread salt sadly. Spreaders aren't meant for large pieces of rock salt
seems like a logical and reasonable thought and solution
Good think you took that back plow off your going to need it today
That back blade is awesome, what a time saver it is for you!
Try filling the spreader about half way… will work better than it being all the way full
Salt has to be dry when using it will work good

Dry bag salt is your only good option with push spreaders. Have the same exact issues with ours. Once I switch backed bag salt the issue went away.
