Just in case you didn’t notice, I’m Seori’s chorus she said “hold my waist” and “on your lap” and in Moonbyul’s chorus at the end she said “I hold your waist” and “on my lap”. What a good day to be a sapphic moomoo.
Keep in mind guys also, that even after this song was released, people still tried to deny moonbyul’s fruitiness.. 💀 I mean, the closet is just glass at this point and I’m here for it
Moonbyul addressed the MV concept on her radio show! It’s meant to be like Seori is so deeply a part of her that she’s there even when she’s not (hence why Moonbyul doesn’t react). When she does see Seori at the end, it’s because they just became one. /eyebrow waggle (Actually in the show, she clasped her two hands together very slowly and trailed off so she wouldn’t say it on air… 😂) The majority of Mamamoo’s fans are women, so they really are women for women. And a good number are also queer women. Mamamoo are a super LGBTQ+ friendly group. In fact, there are so many LGBTQ+ fans that they established the first (I think) official queer fandom organization in SK. They’ve been fundraising and contributing to queer events/Seoul Pride/awareness since 2017! (They’re called Rainbow Moomoos, and Mamamoo knows about them too! Have even sported their pins!)
Moonbyul specifically used the English she in "She said" so that there could be no question about translation. Seori is not actually there until the last part. She represents what Moonbyul is thinking about during the day when she is planning to make love for first time with Seori that evening. The amazing this is that it is so poetic and the visuals are perfect but have no triggers so the censors had no problem with it. Hwasa was quite annoyed about that becaus of the struggle she'd had with the title of I'm a B, which was originally Excuse you I'm a Bitch (still on her sweat shirt in the video). There is a vlive where Solar is teasing her "Up to there? and where is there." Later she sings a bit of with her. They are very cute. Moonbyul 6equence album is portraying the full arc of a relationship. The first is G999 (strongly recommended), which is about first falling in love. She did it with a female rapper Mirani who also great. Touch Down is when it gets physical. Lunatic (title track) is relationship troubles start, For me is the breakup and Ddu Ddu Ddu is looking back on the breakup. There are videos for all of it. If you don't mind getting a verse each of a bunch of songs you will react to later their Killing Voice video (which was the first in the series). The ultimate vocal flex is The Immortal Songs Medley from their concert. Immortal songs is a competition show where the contestants all cover songs by some famous artist. Mamamoo was the first idol group to ever win. They've appeared 14 times and won 3. The queendome performances Decalcomanie, Good Luck (making the AOA song their own), Hwasa covering I Just Kinda Wish You Were Gay, I Miss You, and Destiny would be great choices. Destiny is my favoite performance of theirs.
Good song collection. Everything with Mamamoo and the word live in it screams perfection. I would recommend the immortal songs medlay - 15 minutes in the middle of a 4 hour concert (I would have been inmedical treatment after this as a fan in this concert without the singing and dancing) - or just the performances at Immortal Songs before Killing Voice cause then there are no spoilers, but... And if you want to learn a little bit more about the girls there are a few really good guides out there. IMO the two part guide from Purple Hawk is still on top, but someone did a good job and made a new one this year. ANd welcome to the radish patch you two.
Thank you very much for your analyzes and explanations so relevant - Moonbyul had an exceptional year 2022 in the same way as Solar with Mata Hari - I recommend the SECONDWORLD TV SHOW with Moonbyul - I place them at the top of my favorite artists
i think this is the first time moonbyul used a pronoun in her song which she made clear that it was about two female lovers. she don't usually use pronouns when writing songs/raps because she wanted her listeners to relate to the song regardless of their gender/sexuality I SAY WE SHOULD STAN
i love this song because moonbyul mentioned that it's very explicitly about sex between two women, saying it's an 18+ song. she also said it's her favorite song out of the album so that's pretty much as close to coming out as possible!
I don’t know if anyone has suggested this yet but to my knowledge, Seori made the MV for her song “Lovers In The Night” as queer-inclusive as she could possibly could without getting it age restricted (that is, for outright depicting same sex kissing) and it’s a banger on top of that!!
"There's no straight explanation" is like Moonbyul's whole self 😅! We know, she knows, everyone knows Moonbyul's for girls and girls only. That's why shes known in Korea as the ultimate "girl crush" (in kpop it basically refers to girls who are attractive to other girls) and she's so proud of this title that recently she told Solar's in an interview on the 'Illella' set she herself was the definition of girl crush. Also there's an awesome interview with Aiki where Moonbyul confesses the pick up lines she uses on girls.. and even the reaction on set is hilarious bc everyone been known but no one openly talks about queerness in Korea so it's kinda don't ask don't tell let's all pretend this fruitness is "fan service", you know completely hetero stuff.
I honesty Moonbyul can't just come out if even she is. In Korea it's not just frowned on but it has destroyed careers. It has destroyed families but I don't think Moonbyul's mother would care as long as she's happy. Korea is very very hard on their women which to me sucks big time.
@@grandpajim3557 For sure. I think she already does a lot by pushing the envelope as far as possible and bring up serious conversations about gender construction. Like I said before, Korea runs as a "don't ask don't tell" society. So I don't see any idol coming out publicly in the near future.
do you guys know jiae? she's an ex-wassup member and she's openly bisexual, came out when dating a woman and has gone through a lot since then. recently she was able to release an independent EP with the title track "love is love", and its so good! if you have time, go check her out, another very talented and very queer lady for us to cherish!
it's the most progressive song in kpop up until now. The lyrics itself are beautifully portraited! Genius Moonbyul for using such metaphors. Everything's perfect! You should check out more solo stuff of hers. She's been writing songs with gender neutral to make it relatable and she serves high quality music too.
Moonbyul says "Passing that mountain and crossing a bridge" in korean it says: Going from your head to your toes i'm passing that mountain and then crossing the bridge - and there we build our house
Something really significant about the 'she said' part is that Moonbyul has always made a point to use gender neutral pronouns and expressions in her songs/lyrics. So in this song she not only used 'she' but made that part english so that everyone could know that it was intentional. I just think that's such an interesting and important part of this song
Mamamoo is very supportive of the lgbtq+ community. They had drag queens in "hip", wheein had a lesbian couple in "let's break" up mv. Hwasa raised the pride flag very proudly in one fan meeting to support the fan there. And moon byul has this. And they had a lot of fun in "um oh ah yeah". One of the reasons why i love them so much is because they are mature enough and comfortable enough to talk about this and make songs about it.
mmm also have a lgbt section of the fandom that call themselves rainbow moos. these fans fundraise for pride celebrations in korea, and mamamoo showed support by wearing their logo pins
@elena12 how is it queerbaiting when the group performed together at a gay comic convention. And after that they were heavily criticized. They keep on supporting my community from time to time, and as a gay asian person, I dont feel queerbaiting when just by affiliating one's name with the LGBTQIA+ community would get more hate from their culture rather than appreciation. Whee in showed a lesbian perspective from her music video goodbye, and said on her UA-cam channel she watched semantic error, solar had a collaboration with a Korean drag queens even after hip era.
Right now Moonbyul is on a survival show that called the second world. It's about 8 rappers their show their vocal abilitys and moonbyul is doing very well. 3 rounds are past and she's still number 1 😂 I hope you check the performances. First round she covered " Day6-congratulations". The judges were really suprised about her vocals. In round 2 Moonbyul and Exy (from WJSN) were a team and covered the song "Energetic by Wanna One". For round 3 Moonbyul choose " i'll throw it away" and shooked everyone with her highnotes. I hope you guys check them out. Your gonna love it. And thank you for the reaction💚
@@DS-tz6rm LIKE YEAH! 😂 hope this Couple react to Our Moonbyul's performance on that Second World Competitions. Im sure, They definitely gonna lost it. 😂
probably one of the best shutdown reactions i've ever seen! i was laughing the whole time but also relating cause we felt the same way when the song was released mamamoo has a loooot of songs, so i'd start with the classics: hip, egotistic, decalcomanie (although i'd choose a live performance) dingga, aya and starry night (and uhm oh ah yeah as a plus although it's a bit older they still sing it at festivals) they also have gleam, wanna be myself that are title worthy and their last video for 1 2 3 eoi! that's really cute for moonbyul i love eclipse, lunatic, absence, ddu ddu ddu, chemistry and synopsis (she has videos for all of them) and her performance of congratulations (cover) by day6 on the show second world! that one's real good
To think that this was a pre-release is still something I'm trying to process. The storyline throughout the EP(6equence) that this song is on is so amazing and listening to all the songs in order with the videos+lyrics is truly an experience I recommend.
I'm not into shipping real people but in a very "just for fun" way Mamamoo has high key some of the best ships in kpop bc the chaotic gay energy between them is just out of this world (they're just so playful and flirty with other, it's a testament of how much they're comfortable with each other). So for gay content Mamamoo is always a recommendation. And for musical content.. queens of vocals and slayers of stages.
I really do ship moonsun after a video I watched where there were so many moments between them I usually don't ship people but it just seemed so genuinely like there was something between them
This song truly made an impact in the whole fandom, we went from appreciating such a beautiful representation in a song to hearing moonbyul explaining herself how she wanted to make the song even more racy lmao but yeah byul never has denied of confirmed anything, she just talks about it in a very naturally way, when she's been asked if she ever used certains pick up lines in guys she just said "no, not in guys, never, but with girls" she has always been like this and personally, it's one of the things that I love the most about her❤️ thank you for your reaction 💕💕💕 personally recommend absence, a beautiful song
Moonbyul did confirm that this is a wlw song though, including G999. :) She talked about these in depth together with Mirani and Seori when they guested on Studio Moon Night together for the Moonbyul comeback week. :)
@@hq3727 noo I wasn't talking about moonbyul confirming or denying wether shut down is a wlw or not, I was talking about her sexual orientation and how she's always so open and natural when it comes to questions about dating, sorry for not being clear hehe
Moonbyul said in a radio show that she wanted to show the scenario of someone being so smitten abt a person that they feel like that person is beside them all the time wherever whenever. That's why in the mv, whatever she was doing, Seori was there even though she doesn't "see" her. Byul also said that they became one in the mv aka you know what that mean lmao
Fun fact: there's a comment under the MV, which explains the Korean metaphors that were used. It's super interesting. The tranlated lyrics are pretty direct, but the actual Korean lyrics are very poetic and use a lot of different rhetorical figures. The words she uses in the beginning of her rap part are for example also often poetically used as a woman's body parts in Korean poetry. If I remember correctly "mountain" stands for pelvis and "bridge" for torso or legs, I'm not sure though.
Moonbyul said that the concept is like the feeling of being smitten. Even when Seori is not there she can feel her presence. The final scene when they are singing together while looking at each other is the moment she is actually there. Should try to listen to her entire album, 6equence, it potrays stages of love from the fluttering beginning to the sad ending. And i would suggest Absence too alongside her iconic Eclipse. Since she is currently in a survival show (Second world) you can check out her live vocal performance too. You won’t regret it.
What a delightful reaction, I'm so glad you guys reacted to this video sooner rather than later!!! Moonbyul's overpowering sapphic energy gets me through each day tbh, she's so so so so attractive and cool and inspiring. And yeah, Byuli's vocals are a hidden gem in mamamoo! It took us years to get to actually hear her sing on Mamamoo tracks, and it's always such a joy - she has such a unique and wonderful tone to her voice, it's distinctive and lovely. I'm really proud of her for how she's come, both with her voice and her confidence in it! Recently she's been finally getting to show off on a competition show called Second World, where 8 female rappers are competing in vocal performances. Moonbyul has been rightfully in first place since day one! I really really really really really recommend that you guys react to her duet performance of Energetic with Exy, because that also definitely came through with the sapphic energy lol
I was expecting y’all to lose it, it’s just so endearing that moonbyul just straight up put this piece of art out there. The E in Seori is a silent letter and you roll the R so you would pronounce it Sorri 😊 Thank you two again for another awesome reaction
So glad you finally watched Shutdown and survived to post about it! Seeing lots of recs for Eclipse and other Moonbyul songs (definitely watch those too!!) but none for Seori yet! You should react to Seori's song Lovers in the Night, that's my absolute favorite song of hers, it's very beautiful!
now y'all know exactly why this is one of my fave songs/mvs ever and why i immediately fell in love with seori after seeing her here for the first time lol. i was dying when kess started shouting "they've ackNOWLEDGED EACH OTHER" because mood lmao me too me too XD both mamamoo and seori are supportive of the LGBTQ+ community, and with this one in particular it was really fun catching snippets of interviews and such where moonbyul didn't exactly look at the camera and say "it was gay, c'mon folks" but as she talked about lyrics and such it was pretty implied lmao. mamamoo actually have a pretty long history with us gays, to the point where the fandom has long been considered a safe space for people to be themselves and there's a fanbase in korea called the rainbow moomoos that does stuff at pride and such ^_^ for seori idk as much about comments she's made and such but she has featured gay couples in her mvs which is always refreshing to see you've probably got plenty of mamamoo recs and I'm down for anything there, so for seori I'd love to recommend Lovers in the Night, and Dive with You. such good songs. also this one might be a stretch but if you're up for a little bit longer video, she appeared on that Lee Mujin Service show where it's a short interview and a couple covers (a couple on her own and then a duet with mujin). it's amazing and gives some live singing so def worth the 10 minutes or so
Mamamoo: HIP, destiny, windflower Moonbyul's solo: eclipse, lunatic, cheese in the trap These are highly recommended! Moonbyul's intense and 'boy group' dance is super awesome in Eclipse (She wears uniform, millitary wears, and suit in MV). And her rap and singing voice is amazing in HIP, Destiny, and Windflower
Kess and Han are going through it in this video and I relate to every single second. I did cry to this song. And it's still one of the best k-pop songs in the history of ever
Moonbyul was trained to debut as a vocalist, but in order to debut with Mamamoo she was "forced" to debut as the groups rapper. So far this is the one reaction I've watched multiple times, at least 5 times since you've posted it. Your reactions are hilarious.
My fav parts: 7:05 Other than the "rowing" and the "waves" metaphor, the "passing through mountains and bridges" to get down there 😏😏😏 like come on... 11:30 When the lyrics change from Seori's POV ("From your head to your toes") to Moonbyul's ("From my head to my toes") was fireeeee 🔥🔥🔥 Love your reaction videos btw. Here I am enjoying every moment of you two falling deeper for Mamamoo more and more. Looking forward to more Mamamoo reactions videos in the future. ❤️
So glad you’re going to react to Mamamoo 😊 Moonbyul’s whole discography is amazing which makes her an easy ult bias for on and off stage. I can’t wait for future reactions 💜
Moonstar's solo work needs to be on your playlist. Her vocals are insane!! She is iconic in every move she makes. She makes everything look so effortless too. And YES they are definitely singing to each other. And its presented as completely normal and in no way shocking. The tone of it is perfectly executed. She deserves every bit of praise you could give her,.. for just being who she is, right?
I love this song. I'm so happy you finally got to react to it. Their voices go so well together. Seori is one of my favoirite solo artists. You should check out more of her songs when you get the chance. My favorites are Lovers in the night and, The long Night featuring Giriboy but all her songs are amazing.
Came for your ILLELLA reaction, stayed to see if you would do this one and you did NOT disappoint! Love seeing you react to Mamamoo and Moonbyul specifically, she's all that and more! If you ever want to dive in a bit more, I would love to see you react to Eclipse and Moon Movie (esp the performance from MCountdown). But anyway totally looking forward for any Mamamoo-related content if you feel like it💖 keep up the amazing job!
this song is an absolute masterpiece, a hymn to love between women, explicit, poetic, elegant. and Moonbyul did it - their 2 voices are angelic and make me float in a sweet dream - Moonbyul is a genius - she became my all time favorite artist this year 2022 - watch the tv show SECONDWORLD where she does extraordinary covers that crush her competitors - see Cheese in the trap - everything she does is magnificent - I love her humanity and her personality - a goddess ♥️
Everyone need to know this. In the lyrics “passing the mountains and crossing the bridge”, Bridge = legs in korean. They pronounce same way so.. it‘s like [passing the “mountains” and “legs”] … you know what 😉
Moonbyul and punch sing together called 'say yes'. There is a video for this song also. You saw punch shortly in moonbyul girl crush of 'introducing guide video'. Their vocals r really good together.
Form of Therapy is a video producer and has a wonderful breakdown of this song and MV. I highly recommend to check it out! Also, Moonbyul has G999 too…
Y’all reaction to Illella had me rollin but that is me @ MoonByul everyday too 😂 Everyone of their solos slap. Moonbyul’s eclipse always could use a little more love and a really good thing to listen to would be Mamamoo’s Killing Voice. You’ll get to hear a little snippet of all their title tracks and see their amazing personalities.
I really liked their reactions, mamamoo is an amazing group that always shows their support to the community. Moonbyul in particular, she has always said how she prefers not to put gender in her songs, but with shutdown she made the genre very clear on purpose so no one would have any doubts. looking forward to seeing you guys react to G999.
Honestly, I would really suggest that you check out all their title tracks, but especially Gogobebe, Egotistic, Starry Night, and Hip, and all of Moonbyul’s solos (Absence is my personal favorite because it’s vocal-heavy)
it would be really nice, if Moonsun would perform Shutdown together at their upcoming concerts! anyhow my absolute favorite mamamoo song is 'bad bye' - too bad there's no MV...
I had this song on repeat everyday when it first come out (come out hahaha💀) then forgot about it and now y'all react to... i will have it on repeat again thx💀
OH MY GOODNESS YES YES!! Dude yesterday was actually my first time watching this, I never heard the song before I just never had enough time to watch it until Yesterday (I am so mad at myself for that) and let me just say my jaw legit DROPPED and I was speechless during the whole thing! And dude Seori is going to be my next K-Pop obsession she is so freaking cute and pretty (HER SMILE JUST EVERYTHING) and her Vocals my God I'm in love with her voice, she kind of sounds like Billie Eilish in a way- and y'all don't get me started on the Lyrics I actually heard that this is the tamed version, Moonbyul wanted it to be 19+ and if it was I would've been deceased! Anyways I can't wait for you guys to react to more Mamamoo and Seori such as more Music Videos, B - Sides, Live Performances, Covers, Dance Practices, Moments, and of course Ships! I can't wait for more Content from you guys and I hope that you both are doing well and staying safe and healthy! P.S. If you ever need any good Videos I could totally help you out if you need it! Also y'all if you guys want to check out some Lesbian/Bi Music Videos/Performances I totally recommend Sistar One More Day, KHAN I'm Your Girl, Loona Not Friends (if you haven't seen it), Red Velvet Wish Tree (maybe find the one with lyrics on the video because man is it cute but also heartbreaking), Wendy's version of Light Me Up (you'll see what I mean why Wendy's version, she changes the Lyrics a bit), GFriend Apple, (G) I-DLE Oh My God (if you haven't seen it yet), Sunmi's Gashina sexy Performance (they switched roles and lets just say WOW), there are more but those are the ones that I can think of for right now!
It has been a while since I heard this song and NOW, I can hear Momo's rapping in 'Marshmallow' when Moonbyul goes low. Maybe Momo took inspiration from Moonbyul for the low-tone rap for her parts with MISAMO. That means if Byul-yi wanted to, she could cover Momo's part of 'Marshmallow'. :)
They speak my mind ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ She's indeed a very good rapper and vocalist. You guys should watch more vids of byulie unnie's vocals. She's so good yet sooo under appreciated. Shutdown is a masterpiece, an under rated masterpiece honestly. I'm straight but that damn song makes me think again ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Thankyou for this. I hope more people appreciate our rapper-vocal unnie 🤘🤘🤘🤘
this reaction was such a mood LMAO I'm sure every moo reacted the same watching it for the first time. it's a literal masterpiece 😭 but every time we try to tell byul she thinks we're just being perverted 💀💀
I loved your reaction so much. 💗 Watching you go all crazy and excited throughout the song made me relive the excitement i felt when I first watched the mv and also how giddy i felt as i discovered more details about the lyrics and the metaphors and symbols used in the video. Thank you for your wonderful reaction video💗
This song is so good I'd recommend Easy by WJSN The Black too 👀 yk for science (there's the normal MV version and the director's cut version, i recommend both)
You should give Seori's music a listen. the mv for lovers in the night has a lot of diverse representation that is really refreshing. I also recommend Running through the night and Trigger.
This is the trinity mostly moos suggests to reactors. 1. Introduction Guide by Purple Hawke or Moo YT 2. Dinggo Killing Voice 3. Immortal Songs Medley This are the 3 videos you must watch you truly know all the members and how rare you can find group like Mamamoo.
you should also check out the 'G999' mv from that same moonbyul album. it's a collab with mirani and it's just one of the coolest throwback hiphop tracks. such a great and fun vibe. 😎✌️ they also did a cute performance of that track on 1thek's 'the booth'.
You guys finally reacted to Shutdown, anytime anyone reacts to this song it gives me pure joy. Shutdown is definitely one of my favorite kpop songs; if not my favorite kpop song ever. Some Seori recs: Lovers in the night Can’t Stop This Party Running Through the Night Note: Seori is pronounced like (So-ri) the ‘Seo’ part should have a long O sound but a bit softer.
i adore you two. i like how blonde individual comes in as spokesperson whilst dark haired individual is staring into space trying to process wtf is even happening, and dark haired individual's face lights up faster than blonde haired individual's when the song goes somewhere unexpected. it is a cute dynamic.
I just watched this music video for the first time in a year since I watched it and OMFGG. OMFGG LOOL. ITS SOO GOOD AND GAYY LOOL. MY GODD LOOL. Every single reaction I had was like yours- amazed, surprised, and delighted. I was SOO SURPRISED at the lyrics and how beautiful they were like omfggggg. They killed me LOOL. Awesome video y’all!! ^__^
Omg it's about time. This is my favorite song of hers and I love her voice so much Also def watch Eclipse (Moonbyul solo) Spit it out (Solar solo) Maria or Im just a b (Hwasa solo) Red (Wheein solo)
i love how u guys just started to breakdown when u heard the chorus lol afaik moonbyul initially wanted it to be more explicit but you know kpop world. welcome to MAMAMOO world btw! we have a peaceful fandom here
If you guys love Moonbyul, watch her cover refugee in the “Second world” show. She showed impressive vocal ability and all emotions she brought into that song was phenomenal!
If you want to see Moonbyul’s abilities I can suggest reacting to her performances in the Second World program, believe me when I say her voice is gorgeous and she really shows her talent as a complete artist.
😂😂😂U guys are hilarious ,haha I'm clicking subscribe looking forward for your mamamoo journey🤣🤣You will love them especially if u go way deeper in the fandom🤣🤣 You can also watch some of their crack videos or introduction videos to get to know them better
This reaction was so so fun to watch!!!! Also I'm proud to have introduced Seori to you in that stream honestly, now I can have more people cry about her existence. This song is so freaking gay, there is no way it isn't. FOR SEORI!!! She doesn't have that many mvs out, so I recommend you just go thru them in her channel!!! She is truly one of a kind and all her concepts are super fascinating. BUT!!! if you want some good queerness I ask that you react to LOVERS IN THE NIGHT!!! You won't regret it!
Ohhhh thank you Soo much I really happy for this reaction ❤️❤️🥰🥰 can you reaction moonbyul Eclipse mv ♥️ eclipse mv moonbyul looks more handsome 😍 and cool 😎
2:55 this face is what i love to see when I'm watching a reaction video to this song😆😍 Also are you guys gonna watch some of your Mamamoo reaction to twitch first then upload it on yt? I'm actually gonna follow you guys there too, so I won't miss out😊
Heyyy!! Because you loved this one so much you should check out the OnlyOneOf solos!! It's been confirmed that they tell a gay love story, so it's kinda the boy group version of this. The order is: begin, be free, be mine and there are 3 more solos coming up!
For Moonbyul I recommend the iconic live performance of her solo song "Love and hate" and her solos Lunatic and Eclipse (Love and hate is similar in style to Shutdown but Lunatic and Eclipse are completely different but she's extremely hot in all 3 of them XD) For Mamamoo I recommend their Dingo hit songs medley And for Seori I recommend Lovers in the night. I will leave links down below
I cried when I first heard it, the song isn't even sad lol but I had never heard or seen representation like this in kpop. I know there is representation but it's either too ambiguous or too sexualized and I felt like this was perfect, also cried cause I felt so proud of moonbyul, she's so brave for that
Oh, you're finally meeting Seori, one of my favorite artists from the past 2 years. Check her other songs if you can, and also collabs with Eaj (Jae from Day6). She's amazing!
Just in case you didn’t notice, I’m Seori’s chorus she said “hold my waist” and “on your lap” and in Moonbyul’s chorus at the end she said “I hold your waist” and “on my lap”. What a good day to be a sapphic moomoo.
She changed it and she explained why in studio moon night.
HELPPP I SCREAMED WHEN I READ THIS COMMENT OMG WIJWOSJEOE SO CUTEEE 😭😭😭😭💗
Keep in mind guys also, that even after this song was released, people still tried to deny moonbyul’s fruitiness.. 💀 I mean, the closet is just glass at this point and I’m here for it
Yep, people TRIED. But Byul-yi shut them down, too. :D
Weeeelllll you know South Korea..... 🫣
There's literally no other explanation and Byul has been very vocal about it since ages. Atp it's a matter of simply who chooses to believe what
777th JACKPOTTTTT
@@ichigoku1335 Cool! :)
Moonbyul addressed the MV concept on her radio show! It’s meant to be like Seori is so deeply a part of her that she’s there even when she’s not (hence why Moonbyul doesn’t react). When she does see Seori at the end, it’s because they just became one. /eyebrow waggle (Actually in the show, she clasped her two hands together very slowly and trailed off so she wouldn’t say it on air… 😂)
The majority of Mamamoo’s fans are women, so they really are women for women.
If I recall, in Korean there's no He or She pronouns right? That actually pretty smart of her. Btw thanks for your lengthy explanation, love it 💕
Good song collection.
@@XxwalaweixX There are Korean pronouns for she or he. But those are er...too literary words to use in lyrics :)
i think this is the first time moonbyul used a pronoun in her song which she made clear that it was about two female lovers.
she don't usually use pronouns when writing songs/raps because she wanted her listeners to relate to the song regardless of their gender/sexuality
I SAY WE SHOULD STAN
"WHAT DID SHE SAAAAAY???"
"There's actually no straight explanation for that!"
This got me GAGGED it was so funny. 😂
i love this song because moonbyul mentioned that it's very explicitly about sex between two women, saying it's an 18+ song. she also said it's her favorite song out of the album so that's pretty much as close to coming out as possible!
First verse/chorus happens:
Ok maaayyybe it’s a metaphor
Second verse: NOPE nevermind, embrace the rainbow 😂😂
I don’t know if anyone has suggested this yet but to my knowledge, Seori made the MV for her song “Lovers In The Night” as queer-inclusive as she could possibly could without getting it age restricted (that is, for outright depicting same sex kissing) and it’s a banger on top of that!!
Agree, it's a great song! hope they react to it next too, that or Hairdryer
@@mairaleao Amber from f(x) opened up on her twitch that she's partners with a girl. but you rarely hear kpop celebs who are gay/lesbians/etc
do you guys know jiae? she's an ex-wassup member and she's openly bisexual, came out when dating a woman and has gone through a lot since then. recently she was able to release an independent EP with the title track "love is love", and its so good! if you have time, go check her out, another very talented and very queer lady for us to cherish!
@@m__ayala Is it true? I mean Amber really said that?
it's the most progressive song in kpop up until now.
I just think that's such an interesting and important part of this song
this ^^
Mamamoo is very supportive of the lgbtq+ community. They had drag queens in "hip", wheein had a lesbian couple in "let's break" up mv. Hwasa raised the pride flag very proudly in one fan meeting to support the fan there. And moon byul has this. And they had a lot of fun in "um oh ah yeah". One of the reasons why i love them so much is because they are mature enough and comfortable enough to talk about this and make songs about it.
also wanted to add that wheeins goodbye mv featured a lesbian storyline
@@kyralin6313 and it's a confirmed lesbian storyline
The group performed at a Manhwa convention (a gay comic-con)
mmm also have a lgbt section of the fandom that call themselves rainbow moos. these fans fundraise for pride celebrations in korea, and mamamoo showed support by wearing their logo pins

@@mby1922 UPDATE WE WON THE SHOW 😂
@@DS-tz6rm LIKE YEAH! 😂 hope this Couple react to Our Moonbyul's performance on that Second World Competitions. Im sure, They definitely gonna lost it. 😂
probably one of the best shutdown reactions i've ever seen! i was laughing the whole time but also relating cause we felt the same way when the song was released
mamamoo has a loooot of songs, so i'd start with the classics: hip, egotistic, decalcomanie (although i'd choose a live performance) dingga, aya and starry night (and uhm oh ah yeah as a plus although it's a bit older they still sing it at festivals) they also have gleam, wanna be myself that are title worthy and their last video for 1 2 3 eoi! that's really cute
for moonbyul i love eclipse, lunatic, absence, ddu ddu ddu, chemistry and synopsis (she has videos for all of them) and her performance of congratulations (cover) by day6 on the show second world! that one's real good
To think that this was a pre-release is still something I'm trying to process.
Yesssss they are great
I really do ship moonsun after a video I watched where there were so many moments between them
I usually don't ship people but it just seemed so genuinely like there was something between them
Moonbyul is the Queen of the Lesbians/bi/non-straight girls for a reason
"There is no straight explanation for this song." 😄
She talked about these in depth together with Mirani and Seori when they guested on Studio Moon Night together for the Moonbyul comeback week.
Agreed. I knew these two would be absolutely FERRAL for this one. :)
I was expecting y’all to lose it, it’s just so endearing that moonbyul just straight up put this piece of art out there.
The E in Seori is a silent letter and you roll the R so you would pronounce it Sorri 😊
Thank you two again for another awesome reaction
SEORI has one of the most beautiful voices I ever heard. Please react most to her music videos. You two won’t regreat.
So glad you finally watched Shutdown and survived to post about it! Seeing lots of recs for Eclipse and other Moonbyul songs (definitely watch those too!!) but none for Seori yet! You should react to Seori's song Lovers in the Night, that's my absolute favorite song of hers, it's very beautiful!
now y'all know exactly why this is one of my fave songs/mvs ever and why i immediately fell in love with seori after seeing her here for the first time lol. i was dying when kess started shouting "they've ackNOWLEDGED EACH OTHER" because mood lmao me too me too XD
both mamamoo and seori are supportive of the LGBTQ+ community, and with this one in particular it was really fun catching snippets of interviews and such where moonbyul didn't exactly look at the camera and say "it was gay, c'mon folks" but as she talked about lyrics and such it was pretty implied lmao. mamamoo actually have a pretty long history with us gays, to the point where the fandom has long been considered a safe space for people to be themselves and there's a fanbase in korea called the rainbow moomoos that does stuff at pride and such ^_^ for seori idk as much about comments she's made and such but she has featured gay couples in her mvs which is always refreshing to see
you've probably got plenty of mamamoo recs and I'm down for anything there, so for seori I'd love to recommend Lovers in the Night, and Dive with You. such good songs. also this one might be a stretch but if you're up for a little bit longer video, she appeared on that Lee Mujin Service show where it's a short interview and a couple covers (a couple on her own and then a duet with mujin). it's amazing and gives some live singing so def worth the 10 minutes or so
Mamamoo: HIP, destiny, windflower
Moonbyul's solo: eclipse, lunatic, cheese in the trap
These are highly recommended!
Moonbyul's intense and 'boy group' dance is super awesome in Eclipse (She wears uniform, millitary wears, and suit in MV). And her rap and singing voice is amazing in HIP, Destiny, and Windflower
Mamamoo is one of the best groups to get into, they have so much music and variety to content to watch
Kess and Han are going through it in this video and I relate to every single second. I did cry to this song. And it's still one of the best k-pop songs in the history of ever
i've been watching your guys reaction for over 10 times
it never get old😅😅😅
ow is 11th
The entire album 6equence in order follows a love story between two women. So I recommend the entire album XD
The whole album (6equence) is a masterpiece. If you listen to it in sequence(pun unintended) you will see a storyline of the whole album
moonbyuls "ddu ddu" is amazing vocals theres an mv as well one my favorites aside eclipse and absncence
The reactions once the "she said, you can ruin me" comes in looks like enlightenment 😭
Moonbyul was trained to debut as a vocalist, but in order to debut with Mamamoo she was "forced" to debut as the groups rapper.
So far this is the one reaction I've watched multiple times, at least 5 times since you've posted it. Your reactions are hilarious.
Just the reaction I was looking for!
"Absence" - her another masterpiece.
And yes, Moonbyul wrote the lyrics, she confirm
Moonbyul and Solar performed this song live. Mamamoo+ concert
My fav parts:
7:05 Other than the "rowing" and the "waves" metaphor, the "passing through mountains and bridges" to get down there 😏😏😏 like come on...
11:30 When the lyrics change from Seori's POV ("From your head to your toes") to Moonbyul's ("From my head to my toes") was fireeeee 🔥🔥🔥
Love your reaction videos btw.
This is my favorite track in the album, ever!!!! Their voices are just *chef's kiss*
Why am I getting teary-eyed watching this?!!! I am filled with emotions!
Moon Byul is truly iconic! You guys need to watch her song with Seulgi “Selfish.” It’s great. Also Seori has an iconic song “Lovers in the Night”
I was literally just listening to this song when I saw this notification 😂
OMG... same 😁
I love how you guys were shocked about one lyric and you played the next lyric and got even more shocked lol😂
In the lyrics “passing the mountains and crossing the bridge”,
Bridge = legs in korean. They pronounce same way
so.. it‘s like [passing the “mountains” and “legs”] … you know what 😉
And the mountains of a body are the... kaseum. I think English Lit likes to use mountains and hills too right..?
Honestly, I would really suggest that you check out all their title tracks, but especially Gogobebe, Egotistic, Starry Night, and Hip, and all of Moonbyul’s solos (Absence is my personal favorite because it’s vocal-heavy)
love how they appreciated her voice😭also my fav reaction😭😭
it would be really nice, if Moonsun would perform Shutdown together at their upcoming concerts!
anyhow my absolute favorite mamamoo song is 'bad bye' - too bad there's no MV...
I can't believe I haven't seen this reaction. I am right there freaking out with you 😭
It has been a while since I heard this song and NOW, I can hear Momo's rapping in 'Marshmallow' when Moonbyul goes low. Maybe Momo took inspiration from Moonbyul for the low-tone rap for her parts with MISAMO. That means if Byul-yi wanted to, she could cover Momo's part of 'Marshmallow'. :)
They speak my mind ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
She's indeed a very good rapper and vocalist. You guys should watch more vids of byulie unnie's vocals. She's so good yet sooo under appreciated.
Shutdown is a masterpiece, an under rated masterpiece honestly. I'm straight but that damn song makes me think again ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
Thankyou for this. I hope more people appreciate our rapper-vocal unnie
🤘🤘🤘🤘
Each time you screamed “WHAT DID SHE SAY!??” I sang “she SAAaid~”
The boatman thing…legendary.
I recommend watching the purple hawk guide to mamamoo if you want to learn more about the members. there’s 2 parts, 2 members per video
All of seori songs are created to melt you entire body and soul react to her LOVERS IN THE NIGHT is my favorite
this reaction was such a mood LMAO I'm sure every moo reacted the same watching it for the first time. it's a literal masterpiece 😭 but every time we try to tell byul she thinks we're just being perverted 💀💀
This song is so good
I'd recommend Easy by WJSN The Black too 👀 yk for science (there's the normal MV version and the director's cut version, i recommend both)
And there's suits
You should give Seori's music a listen. the mv for lovers in the night has a lot of diverse representation that is really refreshing. I also recommend Running through the night and Trigger.
This is the trinity mostly moos suggests to reactors. 1. Introduction Guide by Purple Hawke or Moo YT 2. Dinggo Killing Voice 3. Immortal Songs Medley
This are the 3 videos you must watch you truly know all the members and how rare you can find group like Mamamoo.
If y’all want to hear Moonbyul’s singing skills. Look up ‘Second World Moonbyul’ you won’t be disappointed
you should also check out the 'G999' mv from that same moonbyul album. it's a collab with mirani and it's just one of the coolest throwback hiphop tracks.
such a great and fun vibe. 😎✌️
they also did a cute performance of that track on 1thek's 'the booth'.
You guys finally reacted to Shutdown, anytime anyone reacts to this song it gives me pure joy. Shutdown is definitely one of my favorite kpop songs; if not my favorite kpop song ever.
Some Seori recs:
Lovers in the night
Can’t Stop This Party
Running Through the Night
Note: Seori is pronounced like (So-ri) the ‘Seo’ part should have a long O sound but a bit softer.
i adore you two. i like how blonde individual comes in as spokesperson whilst dark haired individual is staring into space trying to process wtf is even happening, and dark haired individual's face lights up faster than blonde haired individual's when the song goes somewhere unexpected. it is a cute dynamic.
This is my favorite song of hers and I love her voice so much
Also def watch Eclipse (Moonbyul solo)
Spit it out (Solar solo)
Maria or Im just a b (Hwasa solo)
Red (Wheein solo)
your faces when seori came in... priceless.. i felt like my soul left my body when i first saw that scene
i love how u guys just started to breakdown when u heard the chorus lol afaik moonbyul initially wanted it to be more explicit but you know kpop world. welcome to MAMAMOO world btw! we have a peaceful fandom here
If you guys love Moonbyul, watch her cover refugee in the “Second world” show. She showed impressive vocal ability and all emotions she brought into that song was phenomenal!
yes, all of her second world performances are good. she finally gets to show off her vocal ability
If you want to see Moonbyul’s abilities I can suggest reacting to her performances in the Second World program, believe me when I say her voice is gorgeous and she really shows her talent as a complete artist.
😂😂😂U guys are hilarious ,haha I'm clicking subscribe looking forward for your mamamoo journey🤣🤣You will love them especially if u go way deeper in the fandom🤣🤣
You can also watch some of their crack videos or introduction videos to get to know them better
You need to watch this live!! Moonbyuls moves are just uff...
You guys literally representing me. I had exact same reaction as y'll and I'm still in love with this song and yessss we need more songs like this!!!
Ohhhh thank you Soo much I really happy for this reaction ❤️❤️🥰🥰 can you reaction moonbyul Eclipse mv ♥️ eclipse mv moonbyul looks more handsome 😍 and cool 😎
2:55 this face is what i love to see when I'm watching a reaction video to this song😆😍
Also are you guys gonna watch some of your Mamamoo reaction to twitch first then upload it on yt?
I'm actually gonna follow you guys there too, so I won't miss out😊
Heyyy!! Because you loved this one so much you should check out the OnlyOneOf solos!! It's been confirmed that they tell a gay love story, so it's kinda the boy group version of this. The order is: begin, be free, be mine and there are 3 more solos coming up!
For Moonbyul I recommend the iconic live performance of her solo song "Love and hate" and her solos Lunatic and Eclipse (Love and hate is similar in style to Shutdown but Lunatic and Eclipse are completely different but she's extremely hot in all 3 of them XD)
For Mamamoo I recommend their Dingo hit songs medley
And for Seori I recommend Lovers in the night.

Yeah, I love this song too. I highly recommend Wheein's song "Goodbye". That song was emotional. But you would love it.
My fav Seori songs are this one where she is featuring and Dive
Please listen to Moonbyuls whole 6equence album that this is off of. It's amazing and the songs tell a story of love.
I cried when I first heard it, the song isn't even sad lol but I had never heard or seen representation like this in kpop. I know there is representation but it's either too ambiguous or too sexualized and I felt like this was perfect, also cried cause I felt so proud of moonbyul, she's so brave for that
This song is fire they are amazing
Man, I really whatched the Illeia reaction righ now and thought: "I reaaly hope they reacted to shutdown by moonbyul" and Voi'la, here we are. PERFECT
Best shot down reaction 👌

Oh, you're finally meeting Seori, one of my favorite artists from the past 2 years. Check her other songs if you can, and also collabs with Eaj (Jae from Day6). She's amazing!
