Been watching episodes of Canada in the rough on and off from its beginning. I don’t watch much tv, usually just online content. Firstly, great cinematography, quality workmanship and a good way to promote Canada as the greatest hunting destination on earth. There’s a but…. 👍 It’s not only this show, but any hunting or fishing related show, so no finger pointing only at Canada in the Rough. The content has been catered to outfitters, plug and play, eat, sleep, go to the set up done by others and has turned into more just target practice like a rifle range. That may be appealing to a small percentage of the hunting public, maybe 5% of hunters annually. What’s being lost in the process of the outdoors shows is the education of hunting for up and coming hunters to pass on the past time that our fathers and grandfathers taught us. Finding land, finding deer, finding mature bucks, building different types of deer hunting set ups, ground, tree stand, box blinds and approaches to them, wind, weather, being prepared for the changing elements, field dressing and care and so much more. Without the knowledge, younger hunters just won’t have success or the education needed to be successful woodsmen. Outdoors shows used to be more educational, tips, tricks and techniques. 95% of hunters do not use outfitters to do all the leg work. Presenting hunting as a pay someone to set you up is great for the silver spooned folks that have no interest other than shooting a deer. This criticism isn’t directed solely to one particular show, more the change that’s occurring in all outdoor programming. I think that doing some shows without the use of outfitters, walking youngsters through the hunting process and what it actually takes to be a skilled, well rounded woodsman and successful hunter will help to carry on the hunting traditions.
You are right on. The art and skills of true hunting is slowly being lost. The use of bait like in this video is now the standard at 80%. without baiting, succes rate would go way down. Like you said, this is the difference between shooting and hunting.
Lovely captured camera work with a blanket of snow ! .. and there you go again absolutely another spectacular beautiful shooting filming adventure ! .. thanks again from Montreal QC ! ..
that's amazing video and nice shot on that buck and it's amazing to see a wolf out gun hunting in any place that has wolfs that would be a suprise to see
I just dont get the point of hunting over 'bait'....maybe hunt the travel corridors leading to it? idk, just not for me. That buck and any other deer deserves better
@@denniscrocker6215 Not really understanding your point lol, and vise versa I think. Some of us hunt very hard and dont sit over an attractant to 'choose' the right one. The right one, is the one you choose, or perhaps the right one chooses you, if you are lucky. I wonder how many women didnt choose you, maybe if you had a pile of money out in the yard, you could pick the one you wanted. Think about it
@@Trythis837 Killing the wolves could cause an imbalance in the ecosystem causing the deer to not have a predator. This could cause the deer populations to skyrocket and would destroy the ecosystem. You learn about ecosystems in elementary school it's basic knowledge.
@@Monk3ywatr no it couldn't. Ontario has a massive over population of wolves and nowhere do we have a deer or moose population even remotely close to carrying capacity. Ontario should have a law requiring you to bring in a wolf or coyote pelt if you want a deer tag. Way too many guys are like these Canada in the rough people. Just taking and never doing anything to help our wildlife.
@Trythis837 a wolf tag is required to shoot a wolf in Ontario. So no one in Ontario should shoot a wolf without a tag. And your accusations are baseless and incredibly weak. Why don’t you come out from hiding behind your internet alias and tell us who you are and a little about yourself?

You cannot hunt across Canada without using Outfitters. It is illegal to do so.
@@canadaintheroughtv
Any crownland in Canada is legal for hunting.
Outfitters have their use but we can hunt crownland.

Wolves have become a problem out here in BC with Unlimited Harvest accept pup season.. -from the Kootenays
Clearly, that wolf's been feeding - he's got blood around his mouth.
Yep!
Do you guys ever weigh the deer once there back to camp and gutted?
Unfortunately not. Would be nice to know
@ what about the ones you guys have taken off your own farms? If so what’s the heaviest one you guys have gotten?
We have hardly ever weighed them
Where is this around, I might have been near here a couple times
Border Country Outfitters near Emo Ontario
@ thank you, might go near there for deer hunting also in the future

How many deer did they sit and watch before choosing on one? Looks like a fare way to judge and take the right one to me

Eradicating deer and saving wolves. Typical Canada in the rough garbage.
Wow, great job telling us you’re clueless without saying you’re clueless.
@ clueless. Nobody in Ontario would've let that wolf go. Try helping wildlife instead of eradicating it for once on your show.
