    WATCH THEIR DEMO: • Video
This is a great first timers PreAmp or a great piece of gear to just have around the studio in general.
One thing I forgot to say in this video is how much I love using it as a DI for my guitar. It really helps my guitar tones sound more full.
You have to check this thing out!

Have this one myself, so glad I bought it. GAP is really an underrated company. And I hope they stay that way, so their products remain very affordable. I mainly use it on guitar (bass DI and mics) and really does take your sound to the next level. …Great video! Keep up the great work.

Hey llewyn, love your videos they are great and really informative! Please could you do a video on re amping in garageband 10 as currently that is the only thing (being able to send channels to particular interface outputs) that is making me consider getting logic. Thanks!

Never EQ Compress or add reverb when printing audio, You can’t take it off, but you can always add it!

Never say never! There are plenty of occasions when you would need to do that. Not always of course, but certainly some singers, guitar parts, drums, require compression on the front end.

Question: couldn't I get the same effect by amping the signal with an EQ-less preamp, then EQing in the DAW, or is there an advantage to EQing out of the box? Isn't it hard to judge where a part should sit in the mix if you're applying EQ beforehand?
I'm seriously considering this as my first preamp, but I'm also a little worried about build quality.

i would agree. I think with simple knowledge of EQ and well made EQ judgements you can save a whole lot of money. 500$ worth actually. Im the guiltiest of being a gear-aholic. Just remember the song comes first. it could be recorded crappy and it will sound good if you wrote a great melody with awesome harmonies and a good arrangement with great use of repetition and contrast.

The thing is built like a tank, so don't worry about that!
With time and experience comes knowledge. For example I can tell you that 99% of the I will want the low end of an acoustic to be less than what's recorded. So on something like the this preamp, I can manipulate the sound in a unique way and achieve the goal before mixing.

I totally disagree. Go to a really high end professional studio and stare at racks of mic pre's and then realize "this isn't just an EQ thing. It goes way beyond that.
But you at dead right about the song being the most important thing!

What are you opinions on the new softube console 1. seems like an awesome addition to me that emulates all the SSL stuff.

    Hey,
I am searching for a microphone preamp for my Shure SM 7 b. It should be good for male talking and singing. And should not be that expensive.
    I would welcome your response.
    Greetings from Germany:)

Do you happen to know of one that would pair well with the at4033a? Think this one would work? The at4033 tough not too "collourful" I'd say it tends to that warmness so not sure this would even boost it more.

Golden Age all the way! The Warm audio stuff is nice, I just prefer the tone of the Q73 more.

    Fantastic Channel GB&B.
I have always followed your videos because they are made really well. Some time ago I bought this preamp was the MK2 version. It was very noisy, with a really annoying background noise. So I preferred the sound card preamp (UA Apollo Twin). Now I ask you, have solved this problem with the MK3 version? Are you experiencing the same problem? I await your responses.
A greeting and continues so, go to big brother.

Mine is not noisy at all thankfully! I haven't heard of that issue, sorry I cannot be of any more help!

Does this break easily? I seen some reviews where people were saying it's a great preamp, but it breaks easily.
