I LOVE seeing Paul Gilbert anywhere. He fits in perfectly with this song. Letting Nuno shine and adding the perfect backing.

Nuno is for sure Next Level but props to Paul, He could easily outplay anyone he is on stage with but knows when to let it rip and when to let others shine. This is obviously Nuno's song and Paul just hangs back and lets another True Master of the instrument do his thing...
I like Paul Gilbert... but Nuno Bettencourt is just on another planet when it comes to creating incredible catchy tunes.

Cheers for this, I have been researching "shred guitar technique" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Ganyatty Guitar Gainify - (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my friend got great success with it.

25 years have passed I still uphold that album on an altar of all time greats
Agreed 100%. Although my stereo hasn't been hooked up for years, I still have that CD, and I can alway pull up those songs here and listen. I have a Bose speakers w/a subwoofer on my computer & it gets loud enough for me, and my neighbors.

The best thing about this song is the fact that it all sounds like a big ass jam session both on the record and live. Especially in this live version where Nuno decides to slow it down and then speed it up again, throw an eruption in there... Just plain fun. One of their greatest songs no doubt

Amazing performance loving the slowed down version. Not even mentioning the heavenly sounds of two guitar gods playing together.
This made me remember how amazing 3 Sides was. I'm gonna have to revisit that album.

Nuno can stand next to ANY guitar God out there and hold his ground in perfection...Easily on my top 5 guitar players of all time....His right hand is a machine..
Guthrie Govan, Shawn Lane and Allan Holdsworth are the only exceptions. But they are / were on a level that no one else can touch

I am just getting back into Nuno and am just discovering this and oh lord was that amazing. Paul is amazing as well but Nuno is just on another level!!! The chops, the tightness of his rhythm, the incredible in the pocket playing, that absolute guitar shred badassery... and he makes it look so cool!! The complete package!
Back when they were first getting big Extreme played a show in Rockford,Illinois where I lived and after the concert they went to a local bar to hang out and the bar band that was playing asked them to come up and jam and Nuno and Pat got up and played 4 songs with them and on every song Nuno sat back and rocked the rhythm and let the bar bands guitar player do all the leads...was the coolest thing ever,here is a Master Guitarist just kickin it and letting another guy shine...He gained a whole new level of respect from me that night...

I've been a HUGE fan ever since Extreme first came out but this is the first time I ever remember seeing Nuno with short hair. At first I thought " Dang! That guy plays like Nuno! ". - ha ha

Just laying it out there that while Nuno is indeed a guitar god, his bassist (in Extreme) Pat Badger has to nail that riff along with him. That man is a monster. Also noone's going to mention Nuno missing his vocal track?
Pat Badger is one of the best rock bassists ever. Playing with Nuno, you have to be. The original Extreme lineup was unbeatable. What a band, with the greatest rock singer of all time. Nobody can touch Gary Charone.

Don't do that. I assume you're kidding. Be inspired to play better. great guitar playing isn't only about shredding. Listen to Andy Summers with all of his work with the Police. The Edge is another great guitarist with U2. All of these great have their own rewards. I could give more examples, so be inspired.

Gilbert was groovin- and of course missed nothing.
I was struggling to think of another guitarist with the chops and the feel to stick with Nuno and the bassist (who I don't know, and am not qualified to comment on ;-)) who were absolutely on fire, and it is a very short list.

Ya'll know this is from 'Guitar Wars", right? But alot was cut out, and if you snoop around youtube you will find NUNO playing drums on a few of the edited out tunes....also,.check out 'New Princess' Bettencourt family members and such, and their drummer looks VERY familiar. Even put on a pink wig when they opened for Extreme so people wouldn't recognize him. Let the young ones have their day. What a humble and talented individual.

This sounds like what you'd get if you took prog music and funked it up. Which is what a lot of Extreme was, more funk than prog, but totally cool.
Nuno has grunge-oriented vocals without ultra-wide octaves. But I'm diggin his vibe! Nuno has a full rockstar pack: rockarolla fun and grooves, good vocals and kickazz guitars! He is the one who can rock the crowd! Sorry, Paul.
In 1991 I bought Extreme's Pornograffiti and fell in love with Nuno's EVH rock stylings.

+Robin “Von” Buckingham and NUNO on drums. But no, I do not know who these talented musicians were...and I am ashamed. When ANYONE knows who NUNO is, I am shocked and delighted. To those who don't know...be ashamed. His style hit me like Tommy Bolin's genius hit me when I saw him with 'James Gang" Same reaction....I need MORE of this guitar player making my ears bleed NOW!!
