Shopping with Ben? Yes, please.
They bought the cheeseballs in bulk to save you $0.01! How thoughtful of Menard's.
That cheese ball deal was killer, a whole penny less
"My mother's name was Menaaardddddssssss!"
3:36 "Was 6.99, now 6.98" Wow, much savings!
I thought this video was going to start with "BUD YOU ATE ALL THE FOOD"
Watching Ben shop. Is this what my life has become?
I can't stop laughing. You're just a gem of a person, Ben. I just love your rambling commentary.
It's crazy seeing a store so neatly stocked. The stores where I live a completely trashed on the inside.
Cheeseballs was 6.99 now 6.98 great deal😂
Now I can retire.
For the first time in the history of UA-cam the backing music fits the video perfectly. 😂
This is why I'm on the internet. For stuff like this . Cheers ben.
Well that was an odd LGR Thrifts
I'm picturing Ben walking around with a gopro attached to a bike helmet on his head. Going slowly up and down the aisles looking at everything. Totally normal.
Wait wait wait, at 3:37 those cheese balls say, "WAS 6.99, NOW 6.98. Unadvertised SAVINGS!"
So...this is a 1 cent sale so that they could use that sign?
I'll take any deflation I can get!
Funny thing about the grocery section, it's considered to be part of the paint department at Menards. I don't miss working there lol
As for expiration dates, they get stuff with the normal dates that you'd see at a grocery store, it just sits for a while because people aren't buying much groceries
LOVE this video! Commentary is dynamite. Please consider doing a future video on the proper etiquette for telling you hello or that we enjoy your videos when we see you at an Olive Garden. Have a great weekend!
Thoroughly enjoying the production value. You are a master Mr Heck.
My whole family just sat here and watched this. 👍
The idahoan potatoes don't require fat or dairy. Just add water. It's convenient for emergency mashed potato needs.
Video of the year
One word: Masterpiece
-???: Big food Nestlé terrorizes.
-Mondeléz: Wait till he gets a load of me.
This is the content I live for.
I need more of this in my life.
Brilliant concept
Glad I didnt have to wait long for that menards tour!
Ben, you just REDEEMED yourself with Budness!!!! Will you marry my sister!
Bens nards
Dam, shopping and we got to see Bud.
Loved it! As a person in a metric upbringing, I'd need a conversion calculator to get some sense of the products, but would love to shop in such a big store!
The bacon they sell there is amazing.
Oh, I'm into this. More of this pls 🙏
Today I watched Adam Savage clean his bathroom and Ben Heck shopping at Menards. :)
This is an interesting spin. Ben taking us to a hardware store, for food. Ben, you're one of a kind. :)
Oh, "flooring"... I thought he said fluorine and was trying to figure out what he was doing and why they sold it. I need sleep.
☠
Same. I must be watching too much science UA-cam
Very Entertaining
lol nards
US food prices are completely insane.
Was there any real food? I guess not.
There's things that have literally doubled in the last two years, like chicken and soda.
@@BenHeckHacks We've had big increases here in the UK too, but I think you've also had bigger price rises over the last 20 years. I remember visiting the US back then and food being way cheaper than here. Now your food averages at almost double what it is here.
I was in London few months ago and found food prices to be comparable or cheaper than here in Kentucky. But food quality was unmeasurably better there!
I wonder if this is something to do with how the Home Depot's and Lowe'ses have gone so hard on household supplies and whatnot you used to only see at grocery stores. Menards had to keep up with the Joneses and started striking up arrangements with those new supply chains and figured "in for a penny, in for a pound" and went whole hog on eating grocery stores' lunch.
Menards has always been better at stuff like this. I used to love going to Menards to get lumber with my dad, because they had the best selection of candy. To this day, I'll choose Menards because I get snacks for the drive home. 😂
I went to Menards in Cape Girardeau Missouri for all of the parts I needed for my Porsche 914 electric conversion. They have EVERYTHING! I gave my 11% rebate receipts to the folks at the EVTV workshop as it will come back after I'm back in Spain.
Best Zack Snyder movie review ever :D
Aspartame gang represent.
I shop at Menard's all the time. Primarily because it's one of the few places that has low prices, and isn't Walmart, which sends me into convulsions every time I step into it.
I don't see a big problem with "best by" dates, but I think it's because I tend to buy only grocery everyone else buys. Cereal, and milk, and sometimes a frozen pizza which are generally much cheaper than anywhere else.
I don't think Menard's is purchasing anything near the "best buy" date, but it wouldn't surprise me if a lot of those dry goods sit on the shelves for months before someone buys them. There's never a lot of traffic in the grocery aisle, and even less so in that "industrialized, sorta-like-food" aisle that includes things like that "mashed potato" thing you bought, that some might describe as "almost, but not entirely unlike, mashed potatoes". I often think of this aisle of the store primarily caters to the preppers stocking their doom-bunker.
When the apocalypse comes, at least you have an industrial size plastic jar of cheese-balls.
I went back to visit my mother last year for her birthday. I hadn't seen her in over 4 years since moving down to MS for retirement, and on the drive home, I stopped by a Menard's since some dog destroyed my air mattress. They had one for $11 and the Menard's I went to was arranged identical to the one I was used to, having lived in Crestwood for a decade. It was amazing how much of that came back to me after 4 years of absence. MAN, Menard's is still great. Sadly Portillo's wasn't. Oh, and I picked up some Malort for my friends to try a chicago favorite.
I got that tempo cable tester 2 years ago for work. Worth every dollar. Menards is the onlynplace i prefer to get Blueberry Jam. Now i have to finish the IHOP blueberry pancakse cereal i got at my local menards before it goes stale.
What could a thumbnail of the milk section mean?
(Clip of Allison scratching head)
Karen: YEAH!!! MILK!
As a Southerner, it blows my mind that there's a hardware store chain that also sells groceries. Would that they'd come to Florida.
Dude, forget deodorant. Just take some isopropyl alcohol, rub it on your hands and rub all under and around your armpits. Your pits will be stink-free for DAYS. It's absolutely amazing how well it works as a deodorant for armpits.
Just wash them with soap for 60 seconds or more when taking a shower or bath, and be sure to dry with a clean towel, no need to resort to crazy stuff.
@@GeomancerHTIt's not crazy. It just works profoundly well. I'm assuming the alcohol kills the bacteria that develops in armpits which causes the odor. Of course I wash my pits with soap and water, but my pits will start to stink an hour later if I don't use deodorant. When I read about using isopropyl alcohol and tried it, I was absolutely amazed to find after one use, my pits were stink-free for several days after. I didn't even have to use deodorant. You don't have to use the alcohol everyday, just one time and it will keep you odor free for days, or at least till the bacteria regrows. BTW I used 91% isopropyl alcohol, I don't know how effective 70% alcohol works, but maybe the same.
That's similar to using acidified body wash or deodorant. Any substance that makes it harder for bacteria to grow will help.
I like that Menards sells a lot of the Sprecher Brewery line of sodas including Green River lime soda which is one of my favorites. Tastes like a carbonated green popsicle.
Yeah. If I'm doing a yard project or a house project in summer I'll get a bottle of root beer to chug.
Menards DOES sell syrup. Usually it's Hungry Jack or Log Cabin I believe... (Probably the same parent company).
And I used to work for Menards for just over a year during the COOF and you are EXACTLY right... the two places women do talk to men randomly the most in Menards are the plumbing and cleaning sections.
Funny you should mention that. I go to Menard's quite a bit, and the plumbing section is I think the ONLY place a woman just randomly asked me something.
She was trying to get a store employee to tell her how to hook up a replacement sink she bought, which if you know anything about plumbing, you know is near impossible to tell a neophyte without pictures. I try to get her to describe to me how the current sink is connected to the water lines... she describes something that I expect is soldered in. She doesn't look like someone that can handle sweating soldered pipes..... but why make assumptions? I ask her if she's comfortable with soldering, and she stares at me blankly. I tell her she needs a plumber.... which is not the right answer.
So yeah, that's my experience with talking with a woman at Menard's about plumbing. Unlikely to turn out well.
@@stevesethershe also probably asked someone else. I saw that all the time. If you didn't give them an answer they liked, they would talk to 10 different people until they got one they liked or were told everything they didn't want to hear.
Need more of this daily life Ben Heck content
I found this video to be surprisingly entertaining.
Love this video! As a long time viewer of your channel, I hear you talking about Menards all the time, but as I am from Europe, I have no idea what’s it all about. Now we finally get to see it, and it looks just like any discounter store we have here 😝. Awesome!
Last few years at shows people always bring up how they like Menards videos so gotta make em!
Menard's is sort of in a class by itself. Where else can you buy lumber to put up a wall, AND milk and eggs all in the same store? Menard's is about 80% home-improvement store with electrical supplies, lumber, plumbing, concrete mix, etc, and 20% discount store with cheap off-brands, and lower prices.
Here in Australia, we have a compostable baking paper (parchement paper), I buy that one these days, just as good (I find) as the regular baking paper, but at least you can compost it.
Content phenomenon.
Wow that electronics "selection" is awful close to what you can find at Family Dollar or Dollar General. This is not a good thing.
Yeah. And the interesting electronics section is gone. The $15 tablets $10 smart watches and that death boom box as seen on Big Clive.
Always kinda blown away by some of the food items there, and the fact they have a food section at all! But I’m down with it. It’s one of the few places around me that has Herr’s Chips.
Man would clear out that vinegar section. Really is great for cleaning and is 1000% better for doing laundry then buying left over chemicals they scent with more chemicals and then go into the water and air. Nothing like chemical warfare i mean clean cloths.
Ben contemplates Woodman's would be amazing
"There needs to be less cheese and 30% more crust."
Thems fightn' words!
Just a tip on the Pixel 8, if you turn off Auto FPS you won't have so many frame pacing issues.
Won't become a client since I'm not American but was fun to watch, mostly been a year I can't walk or do my groceries by myself, long time didn't see physical store. Made me remember Canadian walmart products, but tax much cheaper. Canada for 35$ it's roughly 5.25$(15% tax) raising it to 40.25$ but, most food products aren't taxed. Good video
Here in Racine Wisconsin quit shopping at Menards a long time ago during the pandemic 😷 chose to spend my money with Home Depot
But Menards has some good deals, especially on paper towel
Old Spice, time to smell like a grandfather!
I agree about the Pixel 8 bezels. Also, the new camera UI is really annoying. I use my Pixel 8 to make YT videos, and I hate that you can't get a full frame in video mode without going into the settings menu.
Not only is it a mess but yeah, heaven forbid a mm of your skin touch the edge of the screen and God knows what mode will turn on.
Long await video from Uncle Ben.
You can disable macro auto on your pixel 8
8:35 LMAO 👏👏👏
The slow-mo shaking the Idahoan bag, was friggen 😘👌 🤣🤣
_edit: And as an avid flyer, so was that movie joke!_ ♥️
Tampon at 1:45 Ben
I'm gonna have to disagree about WI not being the cheese state having lived there myself as well. :-P In fact, the only thing I miss was being able to have a bag of fresh curds that had just came right off the line all warm and squeaky.
finally! 😊
Tony (sash-er-ees)
Staple down south. It gets put on just about everything! Love watching your videos Ben! Looking forward to the Spooky Pinball stuff
I still don't understand the hamburger helper, but I'm in the ol' dart. Intriguing video anyhow
I have lived in the South my whole life, and exactly 1 woman has randomly spoken to me. She is now my wife.
See?
Spooky was my first cat!
Did you save big money?

Ben I'm still rocking the pixel 3XL I am going to put lineage 21 on it tonight hopefully. Last few versions broke secure messages... May end up having to upgrade if the switch to 21 does not fix it.
What a great advertisement for Google.
8:34 thanks to the weird filter and the accidental slow-mo mode, it just looks like you're longingly touching the mayo as if it had been ages since the two of you were intimate with each other.
There have to be a lot of small and medium size contractors who get all their supplies at Menards and enjoy that 11% kick back. I would imagine that they invoice the retail price then they get to cash in their tax free company scrip.
Which types of videos do you like to watch on UA-cam? One of my favorites is a man who goes shopping at Menards; it's quite entertaining.
The store music at around 7:50 sounds like Everquest or TESIV Oblivion music or something
It's by Kevin MacLeod and available to use here on the tubes. I've done it myself. But I can't remember the title.
The modern world both baffles and perplexes him...
Not counting tax SPAM is cheaper than my supermarket nearby.
I appreciated this look into a US store. Didn't notice any Frosted Krispies, the equivalent over here was discontinued due to too many fat kids, I wish I could get some again.
There also seems to be an identity crisis in the jam section; the jars can't decide if they're 'jam' or 'jelly'.
As an American, I've never heard of frosted krispies. 🤨 Granted, I don't peruse the cereal aisle anymore lol
But yea, a quick Google shows they're $4.98 for a 17.1oz box at Walmart. So not only are they also a thing in America (to my ahistorical!), but are still available here as well. 😊
Make friends with someone here and they probably wouldn't have any issue shipping you a few boxes every so often. Which, keeping them in the freezer would undoubtedly further prolong them from getting stale *long* passed their own Best By date, if you don't think you'd eat them quick enough.
_(I think they probably have a Best By date that's a year, if unopened, so _*_even then_*_ you might not need to put them in the freezer)_
@@DUKE_of_RAMBLE They were called Ricicles over here, but they're basically just Rice Krispies covered in frosted sugar.
I did ask a couple of US folks I knew to check but none of their local stores had any, they seem to be quite rare. Good tip on the freezer, I think shipping is the main issue - not just the cost, but the amount of packing required to stop them ending up as a pile of sugary dust. I will get hold of them somehow!
@@moloch5801 Hmmm.... Yea, I didn't consider the fact that they might be reduced to sugary dust during shipping! Even if it WASN'T smashed, I suspect it could, simply from the friction of them rubbing against each other for long periods (since small parcels aren't as stable as a huge shipping container worth of cargo is).
My only idea here would be to use a Vacuum Sealer. BUT, it would need to be a VERY LIGHT vacuum applied. I use these sealers to package our fish, as well as some other food items, and they are easily capable of suckling the vacuum bag hard enough to crush them all! lol
So it would have to be sucked down only enough to prevent much movement of the cereal. (would have to interrupt the process and force it to seal earlier than it normally would).
Or, poke a hole in its original bag and try to squeeze out as much air, then seal the hole with some packaging tape. 🥴
However, you would *_still_* have to take a lot of precautions to make sure those bags didn't get crushed... 😞
But shipping cost shouldn't dissuade anyone, if you're reimbursing them. Just tell them you're aware of the cost. People go to lengths to obtain delicacies or rare treats, so this isn't any different in my eyes.
Native Louisianaian here. Just for future reference Ben, it's pronounced like Sah-chur-rees like saturated... So Tony Sahchurees... The More You Know and stuff.
Sash Rees... OK I'll try to remember!
Close enough... Lol @@BenHeckHacks
audio in beginning could be bumped up
1:05 my eyes!
lmao this video's so funny, let's shop
I know those orange and white boxes hanging up around 0:50. I see that stuff for $5 in Canada at Dollarama(A store where everything used to be a dollar years ago). The usb hubs are such garbage! lol
Now can you show where they keep the food? xD
My phone always wants to go into Portrait Photo Mode (with blurry background), and I never want to use that mode. I want the sharpest photos available when I take photos of circuit boards, wires, and stuff. I really hate modern / mobile UIs where they have removed a lot of functionality to make it "easier" for you, but still make it impossible to do the basic things you need to do quickly and without any fuss.
I was gonna go with a like until that Mrs butter worth line. Well I give ya one anyhow
Man I literally thought I was watching LGR thrifts like 10 minutes into this video haha
Taylor swift is Stevie nicks 2.0 🤣 I almost spat my beer out at that comment laughing so hard . Ben your a legend and these videos prove it
And you know exactly what I meant by that :)
Bud😎😻😁
It's actually possible to make a slow motion video play at normal speed.
It's more fun to complain about Zack Snyder movies.
I watched on a plane and I wanted to walk out. HA
no fresh food? no meat, no fish, no fruit, no vegetables? guys, you are all going to die young
It's Menards almost everything is dry goods.
I get groceries often from Menards. Save plenty of money plus the rebate is nice. Then after Menards i go to the grocery store for the rest
Yup. But the stuff Menards does have is a prettt decent price.
@@BenHeckHacks good way to save a few bucks. And my local Menards is across the street from a grocery store so also convenient
