I like the idea of using sheets for shade.
I try to limit the use of plastic products, especially things that are going to degrade in the sun, shed microplastics, and end up in the landfill. So prefer not to use commercial shade cloth.
Plus… you are keeping those thrift store sheets out of the landfill too.
I also use sheets that I tear into strips for tying fruits and veggies to trellises, etc.
Sometimes we just need to do things the way our grandma’s did. ❤

How long to you keep the plants covered?

Just for a couple of weeks. Then I may put shade on them again when our temps get in the 100s
