Переглядів 2 тис.4 місяці тому
Watch as we walk you through planting bush beans next to indeterminate tomatoes. This is one way we really like to take advantage of the different heights of crops in our planting beds. The tomatoes will grow down the middle of the bed on their tall trellises, while the bush beans will grow close to the edges of the bed. This will make it easy for me to sit besides the beds to harvest the beans...

I was thinking use a solar panel connected to an aquarium refresher and keeping water outside agitated, this is epic!
my mom and i just picked up a rescue dog yesterday, and the kind lady who was fostering him gave us some fresh squash from her garden - but neither of us have ever seen this type of squash before! i couldn't make heads or tails of how to cut it lol. this video was super straightforward and really de-mystified the process, so we'll be having some oven roasted squash with dinner tonight :) thank you for this video!!
I love it 😊😊
The zucchini plant we bought from our local nursery was mislabeled - and patty pan squash is now what we've got! Thanks so much for these ideas, I feel less disappointed and I'm looking forward to playing around with this flat, funny squash!
And you can also grill it 😋
Great ideas! Would never have thought of pizza squash!
A very delicious squash, easy to grow and to cook. I used to cube them and either saute them or boil them. Easy! No peeling needed! And best of all, my three kids loved them!
It looks great!
My Southern Grandmother called these "Cymlins", pronounced SIM-lins. She would cook them with chopped onions, in some bacon fat.
Thank u for show how yo cook a white squash this my first time havin one and I stir fried mine & it is so good I thought it would taste different than the tone but the taste is the same so that u very much mommaabi 👍
धन्यवाद ताई
Thank you. I have them in my garden but didn't quite find the right way to prepare them. Greetings from the Mediterranean part of Spain.
Thank you for the kind words. I have family in Madrid! I hope you love the squash
EXCELLENT - glad i found you…and the idea making the pvc clips - perfect! Thank you-
I'm going to try this!
I was at a food stand today. The lady grows her own veggies and sell it. I seen these and passed them up because I had no clue on how to cook them. I for sure love the 🍕 pizza idea. Thank you I will consider buying one now. All 4 ways were so helpful and it all looked so delicious 👍🏿
Absolutely great video. I am growing this squash for the first time and as you said…wondering how I am going to cook them. Thanks!
I’m super curious about the apple crisp you mentioned. When you use patty pan squash in it, are you still using apples or just the squash?
Just the squash ; ) Make sure you peel it and de-seed it or people may find you out.
I LOVE how fast you go through recipes. I know how to cook and just need ideas, not a play by play. Great job!
Girl, I hear ya! When I want a recipe, just give me the recipe!!
Thanks!
A neighbor my daughter does a little work for, gave us some of this squash fresh from her garden. Since I had never cooked with pattypan before, I had to Gooogle for some help and was so glad I came across your video. BTW, I live not to far from you. I'm about halfway between Victoria and Yoakum. Small world! I sautéed the pattypan as you did in the video - Delicious! I also made "pizza" using a little marinara sauce ,Jimmy Dean sausage and parmesan. My family and I loved it! Thanks for posting the video!
Thanks neighbor! We're so blessed to live here. I'm glad you like the video and the recipes!
How long to you keep the plants covered?
Just for a couple of weeks. Then I may put shade on them again when our temps get in the 100s
What no peppers on the squash pizza? Id add peppers and onions to them. ( if they like squash pizza their eat onions)
Nice! 👍
We are growing these this year. I love all of these ideas and can’t wait to harvest so we can try them out 🎉
Guys that design is probably one of the best so far very modular
That is so kind of you! Thank you.
Can you please post the links to the shelving & lights you used in this video? Thank you!
That’s great! I’m gardening in a hot arid climate so that’s brilliant! Thank you!
Thanks for the video! Where did you get your motor, and what are the specs?

@@PlumFabulousFoods Thanks for the quick reply! :)
What do you grow with our near them? This is my first time growing these.
Thank you for this! I just got some yellow patty pan squash at a farmers market and I have no idea what I’m doing hahaha
this is a dope and simple design boss - Nicely done 👌
I’m going to combine this with a compost system (set this on a rail so it can be rolled over 1 of 3 compost beds) and use it to screen and compost the horse bedding I use for my cats litter boxes.
Interesting! I would love to see pictures of it when completed
Great work on this and thank you for sharing your next iteration of this! I made my own version from your spider model and it has been working great for me, just manually with no shaker motor. Are there any companies that manufacture a shaker motor in the USA? I bought an inexpensive motor online and it burnt up within 30 seconds. I am guessing it could not handle the electronics from the variable speed controller. (my controller is the same as yours). Where did you get your shaker motor?
Thank you for the kind words. Here is a link to notes on construction: plumfabulousfoods.com/blog/compost/diy-motorized-compost-sifter-construction-demonstration including a link to the motor: globmarble.com/concrete-vibrating-motor.html
Thank you! This motor is 3x as big as the one I had. They have a code for 10% off your first purchse with them. My new motor will be here in less than a week.
@@markmilne3967 Awesome! I hope it works for you
Great idea. Thanks for sharing
Seriously inspiring stuff! Thanks for going into such depth
That's a nice setup I might use that idea. I have four dogs, I actually compost there are feces. Again great idea.
How does the motor hook-up to the shaker? Is there a belt? How does the motor make the shaker actually work? This is a horrible presentation.
Sorry that you didn't find the video helpful. The motor itself vibrates. It is a vibrating motor. All you do is bolt it on and it vibrates whatever it is bolted to. You might check out our blogpost with construction notes for more clarification: plumfabulousfoods.com/blog/compost/diy-motorized-compost-sifter-construction-demonstration
You bolt the motor to the frame and the vibration transfers and shakes the mesh screen. The springs isolate the vibration from the base frame.
ua-cam.com/video/Zd8N4_mG8Tk/v-deo.html Just use this simple swift sifter!!
Nice design!
i think the wetter compost would prob sift just fine, just cant add a whole bucket at a time lol!
ThankQ
Great video!!!
Thankyou very helpful GOD BLESS a you and your children
I'm impressed. Not just by the compost sifter, but also by the sons. It would be difficult to set up and do the job alone.
Nice job 👍 Thats a really nice set-up. Beats the way I do it for sure, the old shake it by hand method.😊
We did too! Even wrote about it on our blog: plumfabulousfoods.com/blog/compost/maual-compost-sifter. This way is much quicker and easier on the back!
@@PlumFabulousFoods I get my compost at a local landfill then shovel it out of my truck onto my screen box on top of a wheel barrow. Then climb out of my truck shake the box then push it into my raised bed garden with loose pea gravel walkways! I'm glad I only do it every couple of years! 😊
You could add a little chicken Manue to the stuff that did break down. I use chicken manuer that's when I had my big garden I grew sunflowers from 14 feet clear to 16 feet and heads on them was around 16 inches a cross the flower. I had a lot of hot peppers 🌶 and bell peppers 🌶 tomatoes 🍅 like wouldn't believe. Right now I've got a small garden and isn't growing as good as my old garden I don't have enough sun shine is the problem. I'm working some other things to get it going good like my old garden soon.
We use chicken manure too but our 30 birds don't make enough for us. Those sounds like some amazing crops! I'm sure you'll get your new garden up to speed. Gardens always get better with time, good luck!
So how is that electric motor hooked up. To me it looks like a motor bolted 🔩 to a piece of wood 🪵 I'm hoping you can share this info.
The motor itself vibrates. All you have to do is plug it in and turn it on and it vibrates whatever it is attached to.
@@PlumFabulousFoods My electric motors run so smoothly, you wouldn't know they are running without the noise?
@@mitchfountain6523 Theres an offset counterweight attached to the motor shaft to make it vibrate. Pretty simple setup actually. I love the design. You could actually just take a standard pulley and drill holes in it on one side and keep experimenting with the amount of pulley material you take off on one side to get the vibration just right.
My dog, Loki, had a liver shunt. Every week I prepare his food with zucchini. This year I will plant pattypan- for Loki to eat.
What a lucky pup! I think you will be happy with the production of the patty pan over the zucchini.
Plant extra. In mid August during heat waves the squash will stop producing . Usually happens right after your thinking you have way to much and cant get rid of it fast enough. ( we unloaded our extra produce into the back seat of the prechers car on Sunday 😊 really small church)
My friend gave me a couple of these pan patty squash, your video has given me a new craving.! Has helped me immensely with my CKD diet change. Thank you! Merry Christmas!!
Hope you enjoy
Have some and didn’t know what to do with it. Thank you!
You're welcome!
